Frequently Asked Questions - C-LOADER II Elation

What is the Elation C-LOADER II used for?
The C-LOADER II is a battery-powered handheld device used to upload firmware updates to compatible Elation lighting fixtures. It also functions as a DMX tester (send/receive), DMX programmer for test programs, and RDM sender/receiver.
How do I update a fixture using the C-LOADER II?
1. Insert the Micro SD card with the firmware files into the slot. 2. Connect the C-LOADER II to the fixture via the 3-pin DMX cable (use a 3-pin to 5-pin adapter if needed). 3. Power on the fixture, then power on the C-LOADER II. 4. From the main menu, select Update, choose Fast or Slow speed, then navigate to the desired file and press Enter. 5. Select Start to begin the update. After completion, choose Continue for more files or Finish to return to the main menu.
Which Elation fixtures are compatible with the C-LOADER II?
A partial list includes ACL BAR, ACL 360 MATRIX, ACL 360 ROLLER, COLOUR CHORUS 12/24/48/72, CUEPIX BATTERN, DW CHORUS 12/24/48/72, FUZE WASH Z120/Z350, SIXPAR series, ZCL BAR Z300 IP, and many more. For a complete and updated list, contact Elation Customer Support.
How do I charge the internal battery of the C-LOADER II?
When the battery indicator is low, recharge by plugging the included USB power cord into the Mini USB input on the device. Connect the other end to a USB power source. Do not use the device if the battery is damaged, deformed, or has an odor.
What is the function of the RDM feature?
The RDM (Remote Device Management) feature allows you to discover compatible fixtures connected via DMX. From the main menu, select RDM to start the discovery process. If no fixtures respond, check that the SD card is inserted and the fixture is properly connected.
Can I use the C-LOADER II as a DMX controller?
Yes. From the main menu, select Send and then DMXOut. Use the arrow buttons to navigate to a DMX channel (001-512) and adjust its value (000-255). This allows you to send manual DMX values to connected fixtures. You can also program sequences using the Program option.
What is the difference between UpdateSpeed: Fast and Slow?
Fast is the default and recommended speed for most updates. Slow may be useful if you encounter communication issues. You can toggle between them using the LEFT/RIGHT buttons before selecting the firmware file.
How do I view device information on the C-LOADER II?
From the main menu, select DeviceInfo. The LCD will display the model (C-Loader II), software version (SoftV), and date (Date) of the device.
What should I do if the update process shows 'None Response!'?
This message indicates that the SD card is empty, not inserted, or the device is not connected to a compatible fixture. Ensure the Micro SD card contains valid firmware files, is properly inserted, and the DMX cable is securely connected to the fixture and the C-LOADER II.
Is the C-LOADER II covered under warranty?
In the USA, the C-LOADER II comes with a 2-year warranty (730 days) from the original date of purchase against manufacturing defects. The internal battery is covered for 6 months (180 days). The warranty excludes discharge lamps and accessories. Warranty service requires a Return Authorization (RA) number and proof of purchase.
