Frequently Asked Questions - KABNCTPDW8B Kogan

How do I install the dishwasher?
Position the dishwasher with its back against the wall. Connect the cold water supply hose to a 3/4" threaded connector, ensuring tightness. Insert the drain hose into a drainpipe (min 40 mm diameter) or sink; the hose end must be less than 750 mm high and not immersed in water. Level the appliance and secure it. Finally, open the water tap and plug in the power.
What detergent should I use?
Only use detergent specifically designed for automatic dishwashers (powder, gel, or tablets). Never use hand-washing liquid, soap, or laundry detergent. For most cycles, one tablespoon (approx. 15 g) of powder is sufficient. Fill the main detergent compartment (A) for each wash and the pre-wash compartment (B) only if the programme has a pre-wash.
Why are my dishes not drying?
Possible causes: dishes removed too soon, incorrect programme selection, or insufficient rinse aid. Allow dishes to cool for about 15 minutes after the cycle ends. Open the door slightly to let steam escape. Ensure the rinse aid dispenser is filled and the setting is appropriate (default 4). If using a programme without drying (e.g., Rapid), dishes will remain wet.
How do I clean the filter?
Turn off and unplug the dishwasher. Remove the lower basket. Rotate the filter assembly (A) counterclockwise and lift it out. Disassemble by separating the fine filter (B) and coarse filter (C) from the main filter. Rinse all parts under running water and gently scrub with a soft brush if needed. Reassemble in reverse order and ensure it locks into place.
What do the error codes mean?
Rapid light flashing: Water inlet malfunction – check tap, hose, and water pressure.
Rapid and 90min lights flashing: Not reaching required temperature – heating element may be faulty.
Glass light flashing: Overflow – check for leaks. Contact Kogan support if issues persist.
Can I open the dishwasher during a cycle?
Yes, but with caution. Press Start/Pause to pause the cycle, then open the door carefully because hot steam may escape. After adding or removing dishes, close the door and press Start/Pause again to resume. If the cycle is paused for too long, the dishwasher will beep every minute.
How much water and energy does it use?
Water consumption ranges from 7 L (Rapid) to 12 L (Intensive/Heavy). Energy consumption ranges from 0.52 kWh (Rapid) to 1.25 kWh (Intensive). The Eco programme uses 1.05 kWh and 9.2 L, making it the most efficient for normally soiled loads.
What items should not be washed in the dishwasher?
Avoid items made of wood, mother-of-pearl, pewter, copper, crystal, non-heat-resistant plastic, or with glued parts. Silver and aluminium may discolour. Very small items can fall out. Knives and sharp utensils should be placed blade-down or horizontally to prevent injury and damage.
How do I adjust the rinse aid dispenser?
Locate the rinse aid dispenser next to the detergent compartment. Turn the cap to the 'open' arrow, lift it out, and pour rinse aid until the indicator turns black (capacity ~110 ml). Replace the cap and turn to 'close'. To adjust the dosage, rotate the dial inside the dispenser; the default setting is 4 (higher for more rinse aid). Clean any spills with a cloth.
My dishwasher is making a knocking noise. What should I do?
Pause the cycle and open the door. Check if the spray arms are hitting any dishes or utensils – rearrange the load to ensure they can rotate freely. If the noise comes from the water pipes, it may be due to installation issues; consult a plumber. Rattling noises usually mean items are not secure; adjust the load.

INSTALLATION

Position the appliance in the desired location. The back should rest against the wall behind it and the sides, along the adjacent cabinets or wall. The dishwasher is equipped with water supply and drain hoses that can be positioned to the left or right to facilitate installation.

Cold water connection

Connect the cold-water supply hose to a threaded 34 " connector and ensure that it is fastened tightly in place. If the water pipes are new or have not been used for an extended period of time, let the water run to make sure that the water is clear and free of impurities. If this precaution is not taken, there is a risk that the water inlet can get blocked and damage the appliance.

Drainage hose

Insert the drainage hose into a drainpipe with a minimum diameter of 4cm or let it run into the sink, making sure to avoid bending or crimping it. The free end of the hose must be at a height less than 75cm and must not be immersed in water to avoid backflow.

Pre-use checklist

- Dishwasher is level and fixed properly.

- Inlet valve is open.

- Inlet hose connections are fully tightened and not leaking.

• Wires are tightly connected.

• Power is switched on.

- Inlet and drain hoses are connected securely.

- All packing materials and printings are removed from the dishwasher.

Before use, add rinse aid and detergent.

Rinse aid dispenser

The rinse aid is released during the final rinse to prevent water from forming droplets on dishes, which can leave spots and streaks. It also improves drying by allowing water to roll off the dishes. The dishwasher is designed to use liquid rinse aids. The rinse aid dispenser is located inside the door next to the detergent dispenser. To fill the dispenser, open the cap and pour the rinse aid into the dispenser until the level indicator turns completely black. The capacity of the rinse aid container is about 110ml.

Rinse aid is automatically added during the last rinse, ensuring thorough rinsing and spot and streak free drying.

WARNING: Only use branded rinse aid for dishwasher. Never fill the rinse aid dispenser with any other substance (e.g. dishwasher cleaning agent and liquid detergent).

  • Replace the cap by inserting it aligned with "open" arrow and turning it to the position marked by the "close" (right) arrow.
  • Be careful not to overfill the dispenser, because this could cause excessive foaming.

Note:

Clean up any rinse aid that is spilled during filling with an absorbent cloth to avoid excessive foaming during the next wash. Don't forget to replace the cap before you close the dishwasher door.

Loading and usage recommendations

  • Consider buying utensils which are identified as dishwasher-proof.
  • To prevent damage, do not take glass and cutlery out of the dishwasher immediately after the programme has ended.
  • Load hollow items such as glasses, pans, etc., upside down to avoid water-collection.
  • Dishes and items of cutlery must not lie inside one over the other or cover each other. Glasses should not touch.
  • Load large items which are most difficult to clean into the basket.
  • Store knives blade-down and large knives horizontally.
  • Avoid overloading for best results and energy consumption.
  • Place objects in the dishwasher in following way:
  • Items such as cups, glasses, pots/pans, etc., should face down.
  • Curved items or those with recesses should be loaded at a slant so that water can run off.
  • All utensils are stacked securely and cannot tip over.
  • All utensils are properly placed, so that the spray arms can rotate freely during washing.

CLEANING & CARE

General Maintenance

- After every wash, turn off the water supply to the appliance and leave the door slightly open so that moisture and odours are not trapped inside.

- Before cleaning or performing maintenance, always remove the plug from the socket.

- To clean the exterior and rubber parts of the dishwasher, do not use solvents or abrasive cleaning products.

- Use only a cloth with warm soapy water.

- To remove spots or stains from the surface of the interior, use a cloth dampened with water with a little vinegar or a cleaning product made specifically for dishwashers.

- If the dishwasher will not be used for a long time, it is recommended to run a wash cycle with the dishwasher empty, remove the power plug, turn off the water supply and leave the door of the appliance slightly open. This will help the door seals to last long and prevent odours from forming within the appliance.

- If the dishwasher must be moved, try to keep it in the vertical position. If absolutely necessary, it can be positioned on its back.

- One of the factors that cause odours to form inside the dishwasher is food that remains trapped in the seals. Periodic cleaning with a damp sponge will prevent this from occurring.
