Healthy Choice PC640 - Operation - 6

natural_image Two line drawings of a cooking pot with a handle, showing a hand holding the lid and a black arrow indicating rotation (no text or symbols)
  1. Turn the steam release valve to the AIRTIGHT (sealed) position.

Note: The steam release valve does not click or lock into place. You will always be able to turn it 360 degrees at any time. Even though it will have a loose fit, it is safely secured. The lid will become locked onto the main body of the unit during the pressure-building process.

  1. To turn the unit on: Plug the power cord into the pressure cooker and then into the wall outlet. There will be a "BEEP" sound and the time display on the control panel will show "----", the unit is now in "standby" mode.

  2. Choose your desired cooking function.

Note: When pressure increases inside the pot, the float valve will rise, securely locking the lid. Do not attempt to force-open the pressure cooker.

*During cooking, if the steam release valve is not placed properly, it will automatically release some air. Ensure proper positioning of the valve to prevent this issue.

  1. When enough pressure has built inside the unit, the pressure cooker will begin its cooking process. This may take approximately 5-10 minutes depending on the quantity of food you are cooking. The cooking timer only starts once the desired pressure has been reached.

  2. When the pressure-cooking cycle has finished, the unit will automatically switch to the Keep Warm mode.

* After entering the Keep Warm mode: if you do not want to continue this mode, you can press the Warm/Cancel button or unplug the power supply. For safety reasons, after 24 hours of continuous Keep Warm mode, the unit will automatically enter standby mode.

Steam Release

There are two methods to release steam from a pressure cooker: a Natural release or a Quick release. Some recipes may call for either one. The most commonly used release method is Quick release.

Natural release: Once Cancel has been pressed, the pressure will slowly release itself.

There are two methods for Quick release:

(1) Once Cancel has been pressed, turn the exhaust valve (steam release valve) to the EXHAUST (release) position to release manually at a faster pace.

(2) Once Cancel has been pressed, keep pressing the red exhaust button on the handle, the unit will continue to exhaust until the pressure in the pot is completely discharged.

When enough pressure has been released, the float will drop and the cover (lid) will be unlocked from the main body of the unit. Only when the pressure has been released, you can safely unplug the unit and take out the food.

Do not force the cover (lid) to open before the float valve is completely lowered.

Note: While cooking liquids such as porridge or soups, the unit must be cooled down before you release the pressure.
