INSTALLATION

⚠️ Please read the following precautions carefully before installing your new Avocor AVE-xx40 display. Failure to comply may result in damage to the display and equipment and may result in personal injury or death.

  • DO NOT install the display in a high temperature environment or near any apparatus that produce heat.
  • This may cause damage to the panel and equipment. It may also cause personal injury due to electrical shock resulting from overheating.
  • DO NOT install the display in a high humidity environment or an environment where it can come into contact with water.
  • This may cause damage to the panel and equipment. It may also cause personal injury due to electrical shock resulting from overheating.

• DO NOT overload outlets or cables beyond their electrical capacity.
- DO NOT insert the power plug into an outlet rated outside the range of 100\~240V A/C.
• DO NOT insert the power plug into a damaged outlet.
• DO NOT use a worn or damaged A/C power cable.
• DO NOT use an improper or mismatched A/C power cable.
• DO NOT place the display on an unstable shelf or surface.

• DO NOT place objects on the display as instructed below:

  • Do not cover the vents on the display.
  • Do not allow liquid or small particles to enter the vents or other parts of the display.
  • Do not put heavy objects on the display.

- Please allow room between the wall and the display panel to maintain proper ventilation and avoid overheating.

- Make sure you use the handles on the back of the display while lifting or moving the display, to avoid touching the front panel during the move.

- When unpacking, and carrying the display please follow these guidelines:

  • 2 people are needed to move displays of 65"
  • 3 people are needed to move displays of 75" - 86"

Before installing, please make sure the wall is strong enough to hold the necessary weight of the display and the mount.

Ambient Considerations

Environmental and ambient factors play a considerable role in determining your viewing experience and the functional operation of the display. Make sure to follow these guidelines carefully to get the most out of your display.

AMBIENT LIGHT

For the best viewing experience, make sure to minimize or remove light sources directed at the screen, especially sunlight.

Any direct light may make images on the screen appear washed out and less vibrant, and direct sunlight may even affect touch control operation.

AMBIENT TEMPERATURE

Maintain the ambient temperature of the room at a consistent level. This will ensure that the display continues to operate smoothly.

Do not place the display near heat sources or air conditioning vents, and do not operate or store the display in temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit).

VENTILATION

The display should maintain a proper operating temperature provided that the ambient temperature is not too high, and that the vents on the display have enough room to disperse any heat emanating from the display.

Avocor AVE-7540 - VENTILATION - 1

Do not block the vents on the display! Leave a space of about 4 inches between all sides of the lay and surrounding walls or objects, as shown in the figure, below.

Wall 100 mm (3.9") 100 mm (3.9") 100 mm (3.9") 100 mm (3.9") Wall 100 mm (3.9)

Mounting the Display

The three primary types of mounting solutions are Stationary Stands, Rolling Carts, and Wall Mounts. This chapter will examine each type and how they might fit into your installation.

Avocor AVE-7540 - Mounting the Display - 1

NOTE

Leave mounting to the installation specialists.

Always make sure that your stand, or mount/wall is rated to hold the weight of your display.
Make sure that the surface you place the mount or stand upon can support the weight of your display.
Make sure the tilt degree of the display does not exceed 2^ .
Always get help when moving or mounting the display.

  • 2 people are needed to move displays of 55" - 65"
  • 3 people are needed to move displays of 75" - 86"

STATIONARY STANDS

Stationary stands can come in the form of tabletop stands or floor stands. These stands are worthwhile for either permanent or temporary installations; they are less mobile than rolling carts but are a bit more flexible than wall mounts.

Avocor AVE-7540 - STATIONARY STANDS - 1

natural_image Black metal stand with vertical supports and a curved base (no text or symbols visible)

Avocor AVE-7540 - STATIONARY STANDS - 3

WARNING

If you decide to implement a tabletop stand, make sure that the table or surface you plan to place the display on can support the weight of both the display and the stand.

ROLLING CART

As the most mobile of mounting solutions, the rolling cart is perfect for those who want a flexible setup that can be taken to different rooms.

natural_image Pure mechanical device diagram with no text, numbers, or symbols

Avocor AVE-7540 - ROLLING CART - 2

natural_image Black industrial machine stand with three wheels and a vertical support (no text or symbols visible)

Avocor AVE-7540 - ROLLING CART - 3

WARNING

At least two people are needed to move a rolling cart with a mounted display.
When moving your cart, make sure that you have a clear path to your destination and be sure to warn other people around you.

WALL MOUNT

Though immobile and possibly the most time-consuming install, wall mounts benefit from the fact that they take up much less space than their counterparts. This is a great option for those who want a permanent sleek-looking setup, especially if extra time is taken to route any cabling through the wall.

Avocor AVE-7540 - WALL MOUNT - 1

natural_image Black metal shelving unit with vertical supports and mounting holes (no text or symbols visible)

Avocor AVE-7540 - WALL MOUNT - 2

WARNING

The wall must be capable of supporting a redundant weight factor of 3x the weight of the display or be reinforced to support a 3x redundant weight factor.
Use only approved wall-mounting kits; talk to the installation experts for their recommendations and advice.

OPERATION

The Avocor AVE-xx40 features an intuitive touch interface for source navigation and OSD menu configuration. This chapter will provide information and best practices for operating the home-screen and the various on-screen display (OSD) menu settings to help facilitate the best possible user experience.

Precaution

Please read the following precautions regarding normal operation carefully. Failure to follow the cautionary points therein may cause damage to the screen not covered by Avocor's warranty policy.

  • If you encounter a problem during installation, please contact your dealer or Avocor support for assistance. DO NOT attempt to repair or open the display yourself.
  • Always avoid placing the display flat face-down or face-up. DO NOT attempt to use the display lying flat on its back at any time.
  • DO NOT set a static (non-moving) image on the display for an extended period of time, as this may cause image retention, or "burn-in" which is not covered by warranty.

• RECOMMENDED USAGE HOURS:

Turn off the display for at least 8 hours after every 16 hours of usage in a 24-hour period.

The UiQ Home Screen

The Home Screen is the default landing page and general hub for the AVE-xx40's touch interface. Here, you can configure the display's settings via the OSD and select an input source without having to use the remote control.

Energy Saving

This submenu provides options for helping you maximize power efficiency for your AVE-xx40. Here you can...

  • Schedule an Auto Power On* cycle for every day of the week.
  • Toggle Eco Mode for automatic Energy Star rated picture settings.
  • Toggle OPS Always On to keep the OPS port live or have it shut off with the display's normal automatic or manual power cycles.
  • Set your Display Sleep timer to activate after a set period of inactivity.

Auto Power On*

Your automatic power schedule is divided into three items in the UiQ:

  • Auto Power On – a slider which toggles your automatic power schedule on or off.
    • Power On Time – sets the time your display will power on.
    • Power Off Time – sets the time your display will power off.

Open either Power On Time or Power Off Time options and a clock wheel and seven tiles representing the days of the week will appear, just as in the image to the right. ---->

Simply adjust the clock to your preferred time of day and touch the days of the week to choose which days your Power On or Power Off will occur; Blue means active, White means inactive.

For example, if you set your Power On Time to 8:30 AM and highlight the M, T, W, T, F tiles, then your display will automatically power on at 8:30 AM, Monday thru Friday, while skipping Saturday and Sunday, every week.

Avocor AVE-7540 - Energy Saving - 2

Utilizing these settings is highly recommended if you expect heavy use and long hours for your AVE-xx40 display, as this will help maintain its longevity.

Network Settings Tips

The AVE-xx40 supports wired LAN or Wi-Fi configurations required to enable Auto Date &Time, Weather, and Over-the-Air (OTA) Firmware Updates. You also need to configure your LAN settings to be able to enable TCP/IP control. Here are some tips to help get you started.

LAN

For a wired connection to either the Ethernet In or Ethernet Out port

Here you can assign an IP address and other necessary network parameters for your display. You can set your parameters manually by choosing the Static option or automatically via DHCP, if available. Consult your network administrator to see if DHCP is an option!

Wi-Fi

An Avocor Wi-Fi USB adapter (AVC-USB-WIFI) is required to enable a Wi-Fi connection to the AVE-xx40 display.

Once a Wi-Fi adapter has been connected to one of the USB Accessory ports on the display, navigate to Network>WiFi, choose your network, and enter the network authentication to connect to the wireless network.

Input Settings Tips

Advanced Settings & EDID

Wake on Input simply means that if the display is in a soft-powered off state (by pressing POWER) or timed out into a sleep state, and a new source is plugged into any input, the display will wake up and switch to the newly connected source.

EDID

Without going into too much detail, EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) is essentially the handshake that happens between a display and source device regarding resolution and frame rate to get a proper image on the screen: the display says, "I can accept a maximum of 4K@60Hz signal," and the source says, "I will give you a 4K@60Hz signal." Finally, a 4K@60Hz image appears on the screen.

Advanced Settings Wake on Input EDID 4K/60 > Current Source OPS Computer Detected Resolution 3840 × 2160 Detected Refresh Rate 60 Hz

Like the above scenario, the AVE-xx40 display supports a maximum 4K@60Hz signal by default, but what if a source device can only output standard HD (1080p)? More than likely, the display will accept the 1080p signal without additional configuration or issues, but the image may come out blurry and upscaled depending on several factors outside the scope of this user manual...

If you get a blurry image on your Avocor AVE-xx40 from a 1080p source device, simply navigate to Input>Advanced Settings, select EDID, and set it to 1080p. This simply reduces the limit of the display's EDID range to 1080p, which should solve any image-upscaling problems.

Update System - Firmware

OTA Updates

"Over-the-air" updates are the preferred and recommended method for updating your AVE-xx40 displays. All that's required is a stable internet connection, preferably a wired ethernet connection.

Any new updates will automatically be prompted once a network connection has been established.

  1. Tap "Install" to begin the update process.
  2. The display will download and install the update.
  3. Do not touch the power buttons until the display resets automatically.

USB Updates

Please contact Avocor for assistance with manual USB firmware updates

EXTERNAL CONTROL

RS232 Connection and Port Configuration

Connect your control system or PC to the RS232 input of the display via a 9-pin NULL modem connector cable and set the baud rate to 19200 on your controller device.

TCP/IP Control Configuration

Connect your network, control system, or PC to the display's Ethernet In or Ethernet Out port via a CAT5 cable. The display must be connected to the network and must have a valid IP address. Configure your control system to run through TCP port 4884.

Command and Response Format

Any commands sent from an automation/control system or PC to an Avocor display must have the following format:

[STX] [IDT] [TYPE] [CMD] [VALUE]/[REPLY] [ETX] [CR]

• [STX] indicates the start of the command data (always 07).
• [IDT] is the display ID (always 01).
• [TYPE] is the command type:

• 00 = return to host (response from the LCD panel)
- 01 = read / action
- 02 = write

• [VALUE] is the parameter setting for the command.

- [REPLY] is the parameter setting for the command, acknowledged by the display in its response to a command.

• [ETX] indicates the end of the command data (always 08).

• [CR] is the ASCII carriage return key (0x0D).
