The product is NOT supplied with engine oil, although traces of oil from the manufacturing process may be present. It is essential to add adequate engine oil of the correct type to the engine before use. Failure to add engine oil will void the product warranty.

- Before Use - If you are not familiar with the safe operation/handling of the equipment or are in any way unsure of any aspect of suitability or correct use for your application, you should complete training conducted by a person or organization qualified in safe use and operation of this equipment, including fuel/electrical handling and safety.
- Do NOT operate the equipment in flammable or explosive environments, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. The equipment may create sparks or heat that may ignite flammable substances.
- Keep clear of moving parts.
- Equipment may be a potential source of electric shock or injury if misused.
- Do NOT operate the equipment if it is damaged, malfunctioning or is in an excessively worn state.
- Do NOT allow others to use the equipment unless they have read this manual and are adequately trained.
- Keep packaging away from children - risk of suffocation! Operators must use the equipment correctly. When using the equipment, consider conditions and pay due care to persons and property.
General Work Area Safety
• Work areas should be clean and well it.
- Do not operate the equipment if bystanders, animals etc are within operating range of the equipment or the general work area.
- If devices are provided for connecting dust extraction / collection facilities, ensure these are connected and used properly. Dust collection can reduce dust-related hazards.

General Personal Safety
- Wear appropriate protective equipment when operating, servicing, or when in the operating area of the equipment to help protect from eye and ear injury, poisoning, burns, cutting and crush injuries. Protective equipment such as safety goggles, respirators, non-slip safety footwear, hard hat, hearing protection etc should be used for appropriate equipment / conditions. Other people nearby should also wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery, which can be caught in moving parts. Keep hair and clothing away from the equipment.
- Stay alert and use common sense when operating the equipment. Do not overreach. Always maintain secure footing and balance.
- Do not use the equipment if tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication.
- This equipment is not intended for use by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities.
General Fuel Safety
- Petrol/fuel/gasoline is extremely flammable – keep clear of naked flames or other ignition sources.
- Do not spill fuel. If you spill fuel, wipe it off the equipment immediately – if fuel gets on your clothing, change clothing.
- Do NOT smoke near fuel or when refuelling.
• Always shut off the engine before refuelling. - Do NOT refuel a hot engine.
- Open the fuel cap carefully to allow any pressure build-up in the tank to release slowly.
• Always refuel in well ventilated areas. - Always check for fuel leakage. If fuel leakage is found, do not start or run the engine until all leaks are fixed.
General Carbon-Monoxide Safety
- Using a combustion engine indoors CAN KILL IN MINUTES. Engine exhaust contains carbon-monoxide – a poison you cannot smell or see.
- Use combustion engines OUTSIDE only, and far away from windows, doors and vents.
General Equipment Use and Care
- The equipment is designed for domestic use only.
- Handle the equipment safely and carefully.
- Before use, inspect the equipment for misalignment or binding of moving parts, loose components, damage or any other condition that may affect its operation. If damaged, have the equipment repaired by an authorised service centre or technician before use.
- Prevent unintentional starting of the equipment - ensure equipment and power switches are in the OFF position before connecting or moving equipment. Do not carry equipment with hands or fingers touching any controls. Remove any tools or other items that are not a part of the equipment from it before starting or switching on.
- Do not force the equipment. Use the correct equipment for your application. Equipment will perform better and be safer when used within its design and usage parameters.
- Use the equipment and accessories etc. in accordance with these instructions, considering working conditions and the work to be performed. Using the equipment for operations different from those intended could result in hazardous situations.
- Always keep equipment components (engines, hoses, handles, controls, frames, housings, guards etc) and accessories (cutting tools, nozzles, bits etc) properly maintained. Keep the equipment clean and, where applicable, properly lubricated.
- Store the equipment out of reach of children or untrained persons. To avoid burns or fire hazards, let the equipment cool completely before transporting or storing. Never place or store the equipment near flammable materials, combustible gases or liquids etc.
- The equipment is not weather-proof, and should not be stored in direct sunlight, at high ambient temperatures or locations that are damp or humid.
- Do not clean equipment with solvents, flammable liquids or harsh abrasives.

General Electrical Safety
- Inspect electrical equipment, extension cords, power bars, and electrical fittings for damage or wear before each use. Repair or replace damaged equipment immediately.
- Ensure all power sources conform to equipment voltage requirements and are disconnected before connecting or disconnecting equipment.
- When wiring electrically powered equipment, follow all electrical and safety codes.
- Wherever possible, use a residual current device (RCD).
- High voltage / high current power lines may be present. Use extreme caution to avoid contact or interference with power lines. Electrical shock can be fatal.
General Electrical Safety
• Electrically grounded equipment must have an approved cord and plug and be connected to a grounded electrical outlet.
- Do NOT bypass the ON/OFF switch and operate equipment by connecting and disconnecting the electrical cord.
- Do NOT use equipment that has exposed wiring, damaged switches, covers or guards.
- Do NOT use electrical equipment in wet conditions or in damp locations.
- Do NOT use electrical cords to lift, move or carry equipment.
- Do NOT coil or knot electrical cords, and ensure electrical cords are not trip hazards.
General Service Information
- The equipment must be serviced or repaired at authorised service centres by qualified personnel only.
- Replacement parts must be original equipment manufacturer (OEM) to ensure equipment safety is maintained.
- Do NOT attempt any maintenance or repair work not described in this manual.
- After use, the equipment and components may still be hot – allow the equipment to cool and disconnect spark plugs and/or electrical power sources and/or batteries from it before adjusting, changing accessories or performing repair or maintenance.
- Do NOT adjust while the equipment is running.
- Perform service related activities in suitable conditions, such as a workshop.
- Replace worn, damaged or missing warning/safety labels immediately.
DANGER
Using an engine or wood/charcoal/gas fuelled appliance indoors CAN KILL YOU IN MINUTES. Engine exhaust and wood/charcoal/gas fumes contain carbon monoxide. This is a poison you cannot see or smell.

NEVER use inside a building, home, garage, boat, caravan or tent EVEN IF doors and windows are open.

Avoid other hazards - READ MANUAL BEFORE USE.
GENERAL:
- Do not operate in a hazardous location. Such areas include where there is a risk of explosion of petrol fumes, leaking gas or explosive dusts.
- Do not operate in a confined area where exhaust gases or wood/charcoal/gas fumes could reach dangerous concentrations.
PRODUCTS FEATURING AN ENGINE
- Follow all warnings in the section titled "GENERAL".
- Explosion hazard - never smoke while refuelling.
• Take care not to spill fuel. When refuelling the engine, ensure that the engine has been allowed to cool. Prevent spilling of fuel as this may also ignite with a hot engine.
- Never refuel while engine is running.
GENERATORS
- Follow all warnings in the sections titled "GENERAL" and "PRODUCTS FEATURING AN ENGINE".
- The output of this generator is potentially lethal. The generator should not be connected to a fixed electrical installation except by an appropriately licensed person.
- Not weatherproof – protect your machine. This machine is not weatherproof and should not be exposed to direct sunlight, high ambient temperature, damp conditions, wet conditions or high humidity conditions.
LOG SPLITTER GENERAL WARNINGS
READ and UNDERSTAND this manual completely before using the Log Splitter.
Operator must read and understand all safety and warning information, operating instructions, maintenance and storage instructions before operating this equipment. Failure to properly operate and maintain the log splitter could result in serious injury to the operator or bystanders.
OPERATION WARNINGS
- Do not at any time carry passengers, sit or stand on the log splitter.
- Do not allow children to play on, stand upon or climb on the log splitter.
• Always inspect the log splitter before using to assure it is in good working condition. - Replace or repair damaged or worn parts immediately.
• Always check and tighten hardware and assembled parts before operation. - Do not exceed equipment maximum load capacity.
- Avoid large holes and ditches when towing the equipment.
• Always operate the log splitter on clear and level ground. - Do not operate the log splitter at night, only during daylight hours.
• Always tow at reduce speed in rough terrain, along creeks, ditches and on hillsides.
• To avoid personal injury and/or equipment damage DO NOT EXCEED 8 KMH.
• Always refer to the vehicle owner's manual for proper towing.
• Always secure and lock the log splitter to the vehicle hitch before towing.
CRUSH AND CUT HAZARDS
• Always keep hands and feet clear from moving parts while operating the equipment.
• Always clear and keep work area clean and free of debris when operating.
• Always wear safety gear, eye protection, gloves and work boots when operating the log splitter.

Assembly Is Required. This product requires assembly before use. See "Assembly" section for instructions. Because of the weight and/or size of the log splitter, it is recommended that another adult be present to assist with the assembly. INSPECT ALL COMPONENTS closely upon receipt to make sure no components are missing or damaged.
Read and follow all instructions for assembly and operation. Failure to properly assemble this equipment could result in serious injury to the user or bystanders, or cause equipment damage.
Engine Shipped Without Oil. Before starting engine, fill with SAE 10W-30 motor oil. See engine manual for engine oil capacity.
Hydraulic Reservoir is Shipped Without Oil. When adding oil verify the oil level using the Oil filter/Dip Stick on the top of hydraulic reservoir if marking is not shown fill to the L line.
Inspect all Log Splitter Components. If you have damaged components: Contact the freight company that delivered the log splitter and file a claim.

Before Use Checklist


Ensure that you carry out all procedures below before starting the engine or operating the equipment. All procedures described are generic in nature and slight variations between different models may exist. Failure to follow the checklist and carry out the procedures correctly may result in making the product warranty void. The product is NOT supplied with engine oil, although traces of oil from the manufacturing process may be present. It is essential to add adequate engine oil of the correct type to the engine before use. Failure to add engine oil will void the product warranty.
Engine Oil
Four-stroke engines require engine oil in the crankcase for lubrication of internal components. Severe or irreparable damage may occur if the engine is allowed to run without engine oil. The engine oil level requires regular maintenance. Check the engine oil level and ensure that the oil level is at or just under the maximum level indicator.
Some machines may feature an oil level sensor that will prevent the engine being started or automatically stop the engine if the oil level falls below an acceptable level. This system, however, is not to be solely relied upon. Always check that the engine oil level is at or near the "MAX" indicator before starting the engine.
Air Filter
The air filter is used to prevent dirt and other particles from possibly entering the engine and causing internal damage to it. The air filter requires regular maintenance.
Always check the air filter before starting the engine.
Fuel


Petrol/fuel/gasoline is extremely flammable – keep clear of naked flames or other ignition sources. • The engine must be cool before refuelling.
Adequately fill the fuel tank with the correct fuel type.
- For 4-stroke petrol engines, use non-ethanol unleaded petrol (higher RON values will provide best engine performance). Do not use old or contaminated fuel.
- Place the machine in an upright position on a flat and level surface.
- Clean the machine around the fuel filler so that no dirt or other material enters the engine when the cap is removed.
- Remove (rotate left) the fuel filler cap.
- Using a funnel, carefully fill the tank with fuel. Do not fill above the top of the strainer (if equipped) or otherwise overfill the tank.
- When finished, reinstall (rotate right) the fuel filler cap until firm. Wipe away any residual fuel from the machine. If fuel has been spilt, move the pump away from the spillage before starting the engine.
Priming the Fuel System
When an engine is new or has been completely run out of fuel it may be necessary to "prime" the fuel system before attempting to start the engine. This means removing any air from the fuel line. To prime:
- Fill the fuel tank with fuel.
- Remove the fuel line (A) from the carburettor or fuel injector using pliers to loosen the hose-clamp. Hold a container beneath the fuel line to catch any spilt fuel.
- Place the fuel tap in the "ON" position and allow fuel to flow out (into the container) until no air bubbles can be seen in the fuel stream.
- Push the fuel line back onto its connection point and re-fasten the hose clamp.
- Clean up any spilled fuel. If fuel has been spilt, move the pump away from the spillage before starting the engine.
- Start the engine.

NOTE: Set the shipping crate on a solid flat surface and carefully remove the lid. Use two people and take all parts out of the shipping crate and inspect the components to ensure there are no missing before starting to assemble the log splitter. Follow steps 1 through 9.
TOOLS REQUIRED
• Rubber or Wooden Hammer
• 13 mm, 17 mm and 19 mm Wrenches
- Flathead Screwdriver
• Large Adjustable Wrench
- Nipper Plier
STEP 1: Wheel Assembly
Attach the wheel (40 #) to the oil tank assembly using flat washer ∅16 (41 #), hex slotted thin nut M16 (42 #). After making sure that the wheel can rotate smoothly, insert cotter pin ∅4x30 (43 #).

STEP 2: Attach Beam and Cylinder
- Attach the cylinder assembly to the beam and secure with cylinder cover (13 #) by using hex bolt M8x20 (14 #), lock washer ∅8 (15 #), and flat washer ∅8 (16 #). Tighten the bolts.
- Attach the push plate (17 #) to the piston rod of cylinder by using hex bolt M12x80 (18 #) and nylon lock nut M12 (19 #). Tighten the bolt and nut.

STEP 3: Attach Beam Assembly & Tank Assembly
- Attach the beam assembly to the oil tank assembly by using hex bolt M10x30 (38 #), flat washer ∅10 (23 #) and nylon lock nut M10 (28 #). Tighten the bolts.
- Put the O Ring 17x2.5 (29 #) to the oil return port on oil tank, attach the hydraulic hose (30 #) to the oil return port on tank and tighten.

STEP 4: Attach the Support Leg and the Beam
Attached the support leg (34 #) to the front of beam by using hex bolt M10x90 (32 #), flat washer ∅10 (23 #) and nylon lock nut M10 (28 #) and tighten the bolts. Then insert the lock pin (33 #).

STEP 5: Attach the Engine
- Attach the engine to the engine plate on oil tank, secure with hex bolt M8x40 (55 #), lock washer ∅8 (15 #), flat washer ∅8 (16 #) and nylon lock nut M8 (56 #). Tighten the bolts.
- Attach the clear oil pipe (52 #) to the inlet port on gear pump, tighten with clamp (51 #).
- Put the O Ring 11x2.5 (4 #) on the outlet port of gear pump, tighten the hydraulic hose (5 #) to the outlet port on gear pump.

STEP 6: Attach the Log Cradle and Beam
Attach the log cradle (26 #) to the sides of beam by using hex bolt M10x25 (27 #), flat washer ∅10 (23 #) and nylon lock nut M10 (28 #). Tighten the bolts.

STEP 7: Add Engine Oil
- Make sure the log splitter is on a level surface.
- Remove oil fill cap/dipstick to add oil.
- Refer to the separate owner's engine manual for the amount needed of SAE10W-30 engine oil; replace oil fill cap/dipstick.
- Check engine oil level daily and add as needed.

NOTE: During the break-in period, check the engine oil level often.
CAUTION! DO NOT attempt to crank or start the engine before it has been properly filled with the recommended type and amount of oil. Damage to the log splitter as a result of failure to follow these instructions will void your warranty.
STEP 8: Add Gasoline to the Engine
- Use only clean, fresh, regular unleaded fuel with a minimum 86 octane rating.
- DO NOT mix oil with fuel.
- Remove the fuel cap and slowly add fuel to the tank. DO NOT overfill allow approximately 14 inch of space for fuel expansion.
- Screw on the fuel cap and wipe away any spilled fuel.

DANGER! Log splitter engine exhaust contains carbon monoxide, a colourless, odorless, poison gas. Breathing carbon monoxide will cause nausea, dizziness, fainting or death. If you start to feel dizzy or weak, get to fresh air immediately. • Operate log splitter outdoors only in a well-ted area. • DO NOT operate the log splitter inside any building, enclosure or compartment. • DO low exhaust fumes to enter a confined area through windows, doors, vents or other openings. • ER CARBON MONOXIDE, using a log splitter indoors CAN KILL YOU IN MINUTES.

CAUTION! Fuel and fuel vapours are highly flammable and extremely explosive. • Fire or explosion can cause severe burns or death. • Unintentional start-up can result in entanglement, traumatic amputation or laceration. • Only use regular unleaded gasoline with a minimum 86 rating. • DO NOT mix oil and gasoline together. • Fill tank approximately 14 ” below the top of the allow for fuel expansion. • DO NOT fill fuel tank indoors or when the engine is running or hot. • T light cigarettes or smoke when filling the fuel tank.
STEP 9: Add Hydraulic Oil
- The log splitter needs to be on a flat, level surface before adding the hydraulic oil.
- Remove the oil cap from the hydraulic reservoir.
- Add 2.5 gallons of hydraulic oil AW32, AW46 & universal hydraulic oil are all acceptable types of fluid.
Automatic transmission fluid should be used when operating in temperatures below 0^ C/32°F (all units are tested and have excess oil in the ram). - Check the hydraulic oil level.
- Start engine and use the control lever to extend and retract wedge several times to remove air from the lines.
- With the wedge retracted, check hydraulic oil level again and fill if necessary.

WARNING! DO NOT remove the hydraulic oil fill cap when the engine is running or hot. Hot oil can escape causing severe burns. Always allow the log splitter to cool completely before removing the
hydraulic oil cap. • High fluid pressure and temperatures are created in the hydraulic log splitters. Hydraulic fluid will escape through a pin-size hole opening and can puncture skin and cause severe blood poisoning. • Inspect hydraulic system regularly for possible leaks. Never check for leaks with your hand while the system is pressurised. Seek medical attention immediately if injured by escaping fluid. • Make sure all fittings are tight and secure before applying pressure. • Relieve system pressure before servicing. • Make sure the hydraulic hoses do not touch any hot surfaces or cutting areas. • Hoses need to be positioned were they are clear from the engine and cutting wedge. To avoid serious bodily injury, always inspect the hoses before operating the log splitter.
Engine Starting and Operation


Before starting the engine, ensure that you have followed all procedures described in the Before Use Checklist. The product is NOT supplied with engine oil, although traces of oil from the manufacturing process may be present. It is essential to add adequate engine oil of the correct type to the engine before use. Failure to add engine oil will void the product warranty.
Starting the Engine
- FUEL – Place the fuel tap (A) in the "ON" position (to the right).
- CHOKE – If the engine is cold, place the choke (B) in the "COLD" position (to the left). If the engine is warm or ambient temperature is high, place in the "HOT" position (to the right).
- IGNITION – Place the engine ON/OFF switch (C) or key switch (if equipped) in the "ON" ("I") position. For key switches, the "OFF" position allows the key to be removed. The "ON" position is reached when the key is rotated to the right from the "OFF" position.
- THROTTLE – Place the throttle control (D) just off the "SLOW" position.
- START – Slowly pull out the starter cord (E) until you feel it engage with the engine, then pull it out rapidly (use both hands if necessary). The engine should start. Allow the starter cord to rewind slowly – do not let it "snap" back.
- WARM-UP – Allow the engine to warm-up and run smoothly. If choke is being applied, place the choke (B) in the "HOT" position.
- THROTTLE – Adjust the throttle control (D) for the required engine speed.

Stopping in an Emergency
To stop the engine immediately, place the engine ON/OFF switch or key switch in the OFF position.
Stopping in Normal Use
- Place the throttle control in the "SLOW" position.
- Place the engine ON/OFF switch or key switch in the "OFF" position.
- Place the fuel tap in the "OFF" position.
Engine Operation
Once the engine is running and has warmed up, adjust the engine speed as required by moving the throttle lever. In most applications generally, the engine is used at full throttle.
Environmental Considerations
Altitude - If the engine is being used in altitudes at or above 1500m (approximately 5000'), adjustments to the carburettor may be required. This is because there is less oxygen in the air as altitude increases, which effectively “enriches” the ratio of fuel to air going into the engine and the higher the altitude, the richer the fuel mixture becomes. If the engine is being permanently operated at high altitude, it is recommended to have an authorized service centre make the necessary carburettor adjustments. If the engine is used occasionally at altitude (not extreme altitudes), no adjustments should be required, however, a slight decrease in engine performance can be expected.
Temperature - If the engine is being used in extremely cold or hot environments; for example, desert or snow conditions, the type of engine oil may need to be changed to suit environmental temperatures. Oil thickens as the temperature decreases and thins as temperature increases, which means that if the engine oil is not suited to the temperature its ability to properly lubricate the engine may be affected. Use the following chart to determine the correct engine oil.

- WARNING! Before operating or using the log splitter, review the instructions below and all safety information. Failure to follow these instructions may result in property damage or injury to the operator or bystanders. • ALWAYS use the log splitter for its intended use. • ONLY use the log splitter to split wood logs, length wise with the grain. • NEVER modify, alter or change the log splitter in anyway, modifications will void the warranty. • NEVER attach a rope, cable or other device to the control lever on the log splitter. • ONLY operate the log splitter in daylight. • NEVER leave the log splitter unattended while the engine is running. • DO NOT change the splitting position with the engine running. Contact with the muffler can cause serious burns. • ALWAYS make sure the beam is in the locked position. • DO NOT let the beam drop as it could crush fingers or cause damage to the log splitter. • NEVER operate or let anyone else operate, the log splitter while under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medication.
Using Your Log Splitter
- DO NOT at any time carry passengers, sit or stand on the log splitter.
- Check the hydraulic oil level and visually inspect all hoses and attachments for problems.
- Inspect the engine and make sure the engine oil level is correct.
- Before towing the log splitter, the tyres need to be fully inflated.

TYRE WARNING: • DO NOT over inflate tyres. Serious injury can result if tyres explode. • DO NOT tow the log splitter if the tyres are worn or will not hold air. • DO NOT exceed the maximum 8 kph towing
speed.
- Refer to the vehicle owner's manual for proper safety and towing instructions.

TOWING WARNING: • Serious injury or death can occur if towing safety rules are not followed. •
Always check the ball coupler and wheels to make sure all hardware is secure before towing. • Before towing a long distance, check to make sure the axle nuts and pins are tight and securely in place. • Always use safety chains, secure and lock the log splitter to the vehicle hitch before moving. • Drive safely. Be aware of the added length of the log splitter. • Never exceed the maximum travel speed of 8 kph. • Never ride or transport cargo on the log splitter. • Turn off the vehicle before leaving the log splitter unattended. • Block the log splitter wheels to prevent unintended movement.
- The log splitter must have at least seven feet of clearance from combustible material. It needs to be on a dry and level surface with good footing. Do not work on mud, ice, brush or snow. When using the log splitter, the work zone must be maintained at all times.

Always wear safety gear, eye protection, gloves and work boots when operating the log splitter.

Start the engine and make sure the log splitter is on level ground before operating.
NOTE: The hydraulic oil needs to be above -12^ before starting the engine. Cold hydraulic oil can damage the hydraulic pump. If outdoor air temperature is below 0^ allow the log splitter to warm up by extending and returning the wedge several times before splitting wood.
- Put support leg in the down position to prevent the log splitter from moving during operation and block both tires.
- Set the log splitter in horizontal position.
- Load a log onto the beam against the wedge (Max. Log Length - 53cm/21")
- Make sure hands are clear from the wedge and crush hazard areas.

CRUSH WARNING! • Wedge can cut through skin and break bones. Keep both hands away from wedge and beam slide. • Serious accidents can happen when other people are allowed inside the work keep everyone else out of the work zone while operating control lever. • DO NOT wear loose clothing. It tangled in moving parts of log splitter. • Only use the log splitter in daylight so you can see what you are
- Push control lever FORWARD by one hand to split the log.
- Push control lever BACKWARD by one hand to return push plate to its original position.

CAUTION! • If a log gets stuck, embedded or will not split completely, push the control lever in the reverse direction and allow the splitter to strip the log from the wedge. • If the log is still stuck, led or will not split, turn the machine off and use a sledgehammer and crowbar to remove the log. • IS keep hands clear of the log and wedge while it is retracting.
- Always keep work zone clean and free of split wood and debris.
Maintenance
WARNING! Improper maintenance and storage of the log splitter may void your warranty.
- Before performing maintenance, the log splitter must be placed in maintenance mode. Turn off the engine and move the control lever forward and backwards to relieve the hydraulic pressure.
- After performing any maintenance, make sure all guards, shields and safety features are put back in place before operating the log splitter.
• Before operating make sure the tires have the RECOMMENDED TYRE PRESSURE.
• Regularly grease axle and wheel bearing area or when needed.
• After the wheel bearings have been greased make sure the axle nuts and pins are in place and secure.
• Periodically check all fasteners and hoses for tightness and leaks.
• Annually clean and lightly lubricate all moving parts or when needed.
• Use a glossy enamel spray paint to touch up scratched or worn painted metal surfaces. - Never exceed the load capacity rating. Otherwise, it will damage the log splitter.
