Frequently Asked Questions - N4B2ND4 LG

How do I install a hard disk in the LG N4B2ND4 NAS?
Turn off the power, open the front door, pull the locking lever, then pull the hard rack handle to remove it. Place the hard disk on the rack and fix all four points with screws. Push the rack back in until it clicks, and press the locking lever to secure. Refer to the manual for RAID configuration.
How can I set up remote access to my NAS?
Go to the web menu, click Service > Remote access. Enable UPnP port forwarding and DDNS. Enter a domain name (letters/numbers only) and password, then click Apply. After successful DDNS setup, you can access your NAS using the domain name.
What should I do if my NAS is not detected by NAS Detector?
Ensure both the NAS and your PC are connected to the same router. Check the LAN cable connection. Try restarting the NAS and your router. If still not found, manually enter the IP address of the NAS (displayed on the LCD screen) in the NAS Detector.
How do I add a new user to the NAS?
Open the web menu and go to Share > User. Click Create User, enter a username and password, then click Create. To set folder permissions, go to Folder, select a folder, and assign users.
Can I use the NAS without a hard disk installed?
The NAS can function as an enclosure without a hard disk, but for data storage you must install at least one hard disk. Follow the hard disk installation guide in the manual.
How do I reset the administrator password?
If you forget the admin password, there is no standard reset procedure described. You may need to perform a system recovery by holding the S button while powering on, which will restore factory defaults (all data will be erased). Always keep your password safe.
What types of hard drives are compatible with the N4B2ND4?
The NAS supports 3.5-inch SATA II hard drives. For RAID 5, it is recommended to use drives of the same capacity to avoid wasting space. The NAS can hold up to four drives.
How can I connect the NAS to my network?
Use an Ethernet cable to connect the LAN port on the back of the NAS to your router. Power on the NAS. The NAS will obtain an IP address automatically via DHCP. You can then use NAS Detector software on your PC to find it.
How do I use the Blu-ray/DVD drive on the NAS?
The drive can be used to read or write optical discs. Insert a disc into the tray. In the web menu, under File Viewer or Optical Drive options, you can browse the disc contents and copy files to/from the NAS.
What is the default username and password to log in?
The default credentials are admin for both username and password. It is strongly recommended to change the password immediately after first login for security.
