Frequently Asked Questions - Single Door Godrej

How do I install the handle?
Remove the cover from the handle using a small slotted screwdriver. Align the handle with the holes on the freezer door, secure with the four provided screws, then snap the cover back into place. Ensure it is fixed securely before use.
How do I defrost the freezer?
Switch off the freezer and unplug. Remove all food and the basket. Extract the water conduit by 20-25mm until the water hole is visible. Twist the conduit so the arrow points downward, and place a container underneath to collect water. Leave the lid open; you may place containers of warm water inside to speed up melting. Never use hair dryers, electric heaters, or sharp objects. After defrosting, drain all water, reset the conduit with arrow upward, and clean.
What do the indicator lights mean?
The red indicator light shows that the appliance is supplied with electric energy. The green indicator light shows that the compressor is working.
What should I do if the freezer does not operate?
Check that the plug is inserted properly, the power supply is on, and the fuse or circuit breaker has not tripped. Also ensure the temperature control is set correctly. If the problem persists, call the toll-free service helpline at 1800 209 5511.
Can I use an extension cord?
No, do not use extension boards or multi-way adapters. The freezer should be plugged directly into a dedicated 16A or higher three-hole outlet with proper grounding.
How should I clean the freezer?
Unplug the freezer before cleaning. Use a damp cloth with a solution of one teaspoon of baking soda per pint of water for the interior, then wipe dry. For the exterior, use lukewarm water and a damp cloth. Never use sharp instruments, soap, household cleaners, or wax polish.
What is the recommended space around the freezer?
Ensure a minimum clearance of 300mm on all sides for proper ventilation. The space above the freezer should be greater than 80cm.
How long should I wait before plugging in after moving?
Wait at least 6 hours after moving the freezer before connecting to power supply to allow the refrigerant to settle.
Can I store hot food in the freezer?
No, do not put hot food in the freezer. Allow food to cool to room temperature before storing to avoid affecting internal temperature and overworking the compressor.
What is the warranty period?
The freezer comes with a five-year warranty on the compressor (parts only after the first year) and a one-year warranty on the appliance from the date of purchase against defective material or workmanship. Service charges apply after one year.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Operation

Before you start using the CONVERT (Freezer/Cooler), please go through the below mentioned guidelines to get optimum performance from your appliance.

  1. The interior needs to be dry with free air circulation.
  2. Clean the interior as recommended under 'CLEANING AND CARE'.
  3. Insert the plug into the wall socket and switch on the electricity supply the red light will switch on. After sometime the green light will glow, indicating that the compressor is running.
  4. You will hear a noise as the compressor starts up. The liquid and gases sealed within the refrigeration system may also give rise to noise, whether the compressor is running or not which is quite normal.
  5. If you plan to store already frozen food, then open the freezer lid and check if the freezer has reached the correct temperature. Once the correct temperature has been reached, you can start storing your already frozen food. (See 'Storing Frozen Food'- Page <11>).
  6. Do not load the appliance immediately after it is switched on. Wait until the correct storage temperature has been reached. We recommend that you check the temperature with an accurate thermometer (See 'Freezer/Cooler operation').

Important Notes:

  • Avoid opening the lid in case of a power failure. It will lead to cooling loss. If the failure lasts longer, then the food should be checked and eaten immediately or cooked and then re-frozen.
  • If you find that the lid of the freezer is difficult to open just after you have closed it, don't worry. This is due to the pressure difference which will equalize and allow the lid to be opened normally after a few minutes. Do not use a knife or any sharp objects to open door or break vacuum at such instances.

Temperature adjustment

Connect the freezer to power supply and "Power" Indicator (the green light) will turn on. "Run" indicator (the red light) will turn on operation.

The temperature of the chamber is adjusted through the thermostat knob. The number "1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8" do not mean a specific temperatures, the lower the number is the higher the temperature, inside will be and verse versa. The user can choose the right temperature zone according to their needs.

For refrigeration, temperature control knob should be set to COOLING;

For freezing, temperature control knob should be set to FREEZING;

For quick-freezing, temperature control knob should be set to SUPER;

Indicator lights

The indicator light -set is placed on the front side of the freezer for easy visibility. Indicator lights mean the following:

  • Red Light – Shows that the appliance is supplied with electric energy.
  • Green Light – Shows that the compressor is working.

STORING FROZEN FOOD

Pre-packaged commercially frozen food should be stored in accordance with the frozen food manufacturer's instructions.

To ensure that high quality is achieved by the frozen food manufacturer and the food retailer, please remember the following things:

  1. After purchase, put packets in the freezer as quickly as possible to prevent defrosting.
  2. Don't exceed the expiry dates of the food products.

FREEZING FRESH FOOD

For freezing fresh food, store it near the side walls & away from already frozen food. This ensures fast freezing.

Do not freeze too large a quantity at a time.

The quality of the food is best preserved when it is frozen right through to the center as quickly as possible. Take special care not to mix already frozen food and fresh food.

DEFROSTING

  • Defrost twice a year or when a frost layer of around 7mm (1/4") has formed.
  • You can defrost by switching off the freezer at the socket outlet and pulling out the mains plug.
  • Extract the water conduit and put in a water container.
  • 6 hours before the defrosting, please set the thermostat knob at 'MAX' position to make sure the food is at the lowest temperature when you get it out. All food should be wrapped in several layers of newspaper and stored in a cool place.
  • Remove the freezer basket. Leave the lid open. Containers of warm water may be placed carefully in the freezer to speed up the defrosting.
  • Never use hair dryers, electrical heaters or other such electrical appliances for defrosting. When defrosting has finished, drain out the defrost water which collects at the bottom of the freezer.

  1. There is a water conduit at the bottom of the freezer. When defrosting, extract the rubber cover, defrosted water will flow out of the hole. (NOTE: PLEASE REMOVE THE RUBBER COVER DURING THE DEFROSTING AND PUT IT BACK AFTER DEFROSTING IS DONE)
  2. Extract the water conduit by 20-25mm until the water hole can be seen.

  3. Twist the water conduit until the arrow points downward.

  4. After defrosting is done, make sure there is no more water coming out from the water conduit before putting it back in place. Once the water conduit has been put in place make its arrow point upward.

Important Notes:

  • Do not use pointed or sharp-edged objects such as knives or forks to remove the frost.
  • Never use hairdryers, electrical heaters or other such electrical appliances for defrosting.
