Frequently Asked Questions - 70BT Winix

Why is my dehumidifier not collecting water?
If the unit is running but not collecting water, it may be in defrost mode (fan runs, compressor off). Check if the room temperature is below 68°F, as frost can form and reduce efficiency. Also ensure the filter is clean and the bucket is properly inserted.
What should I do if the 'Bucket Full' light stays on after emptying?
Make sure the bucket is correctly reinserted and the float switch is not obstructed. If the light remains, clean the bucket and check for debris around the float.
How often should I clean the air filter?
Clean the washable pre-filter every two weeks. Wash with water, rinse thoroughly, and air dry away from direct sunlight for at least 24 hours before reinstalling.
Can I use a hose for continuous drainage?
Yes, use the gravity drain option. Remove the drain cap at the rear, install the provided drain connector, and attach a standard garden hose (not included). Ensure the hose is lower than the drain outlet for proper water flow.
Why is the dehumidifier blowing warm air?
This is normal. The compressor and motor generate a small amount of heat, which warms the discharged air. It does not indicate a malfunction.
What causes loud noises or vibration?
Place the unit on a level, hard surface. If noise persists, normal sounds include water flowing (refrigerant) and pinging (expansion/contraction). If abnormal, check for loose parts or contact customer service.
How do I set the desired humidity level?
Press the 'Settings' button until 'Humidity' appears on the display. Then use the up/down arrows to adjust between 35% and 70% in 5% increments.
Does the unit have an auto shut-off feature?
Yes, the unit automatically shuts off when the bucket is full or when the bucket is not properly positioned. It also has a safety auto shut-off if the defrost cycle is needed.
Can I use this dehumidifier in a basement?
Yes, it is suitable for basements. Ensure the temperature is above 65°F for optimal performance. Keep the unit upright and away from walls or furniture to allow airflow.
What does the 1-year warranty cover?
The warranty covers defects in material and workmanship for one year from the original purchase date. It does not cover filters, misuse, or unauthorized repairs. Contact your local dealer for service.
