How do I fill the water tank on the Polti Forever 800?

Unscrew the tank cap (1) and fill with about 1 liter of water. You can also remove the tank by pulling the lever (3a) upwards, fill it, then replace it securely. Use normal tap water; in hard water areas, add KALSTOP decalcifier.

Can I use distilled or scented water in my Vaporella?

No, never use distilled water or scented water. Only use normal tap water or a mixture of tap water with demineralised water as instructed. Using other water types may damage the appliance.

How long does it take for the iron to heat up and produce steam?

After switching on, wait for both the steam pressure indicator light (5) and the iron heating indicator light (10a) to go out—typically about 3 minutes. Then press the steam release button (10) to start ironing.

What should I do if no steam comes out of the iron?

Check that the iron temperature control knob (7) is set to maximum (cotton/linen position) and that the steam pressure indicator light (5) is off. Also ensure the water tank has water; if the out of water warning light (4) is on, refill the tank.

How do I adjust the steam flow on the Forever 800?

Turn the steam flow control knob (6) on the boiler. Turn clockwise to increase steam, anticlockwise to decrease. For heavy fabrics like jeans, use maximum; for delicates, use minimum.

Can I use the Polti Forever 800 for vertical steaming?

Yes, the powerful steam jet allows vertical ironing to remove creases and freshen fabrics like jackets and coats. Always direct the steam away from people and pets to avoid burns.

How do I clean and maintain my Vaporella?

Always unplug the appliance before cleaning. Wipe the body with a damp cloth; do not use solvents or detergents. To prevent limescale, use KALSTOP decalcifier in hard water areas and periodically rinse the tank.

What safety precautions should I take when using the iron?

Can I replace the power cord myself?

Why does my Vaporella make a noise during use?

The sound is normal and comes from the self-refilling pump that automatically transfers water from the tank to the boiler when needed. It is not a malfunction.

Dear Customer

Thank you for your confidence in buying this Polti product for perfect ironing in less time.

Your Vaporella has been designed to ensure maximum ironing comfort; its quality materials make it a reliable work-mate.

The powerful jet of Vaporella steam acts on the fabrics eliminating every crease.

Therefore it is not necessary to press on or iron repeatedly. Just let the iron slide over the garment to obtain perfect ironing, saving time and effort.

With Vaporella it is possible to iron vertically to revive fabrics and take out bad smells from jackets, clothes and overcoats.

Thanks to its self-refilling system, Vaporella is quickly ready for use and does not need any interruption to your ironing for refilling the boiler.

Before using Vaporella, we recommend reading these instructions carefully.

• Read these instructions for use carefully before using the appliance.

• Do not put any detergent or chemical substance in the boiler. Water by its nature contains magnesium, mineral salts and other deposits which in hard water areas can contribute to limescale build up in the tank. In very hard water areas we recommend the use of our KALSTOP FP 2003, a special natural-base decalcifier which inhibits and breaks down limescale. This is a preventive against scale build-up and protects the metal walls of the boiler. KALSTOP is available from Polti dealers or from your Polti Service Centre.
• Do not use demineralised water alone, but mix it with tap water as described above.
• Never use distilled water or scented water.
• We recommend you use original Polti products only, as products of other brands may not be suitable for use in Polti products and could cause damage.
• If you iron sitting down, do not place your legs under the ironing board, the steam can cause burns.
• Iron only on heat resistant surfaces and on surfaces that allow the steam to escape e.g. mesh ironing boards.
• For iron rest replacement use only original spare parts.
• The iron must be used and rested on a stable surface.
• When placing the iron on its stand, make sure that the surface on which the stand is placed is stable.
• Check that the continuous steam request button is switched off before connecting the appliance to the mains.
• This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
  • Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
• The appliance must not be used if it has fallen, been dropped or when it has visible signs

of damage or leaks.

- The electric cable (Y type power cord) must not be replaced by the user. The cord must always be replaced by a qualified technician from one of our authorised service centres.

CORRECT USE OF THE PRODUCT

This appliance is intended for home use as a steam generator as described and in accordance with the instructions provided in this manual.

The crossed-out wastebasket symbol on the appliance means that at the end of its useful lifespan, the product must be disposed of separately from ordinary household wastes.

The user is responsible for delivering the appliance to an appropriate collection facility at the end of its useful lifespan.

Appropriate separate collection to permit recycling, treatment and environmentally compatible disposal helps prevent negative impact on the environment and human health and promotes recycling of the materials making up the product. For more information on available collection facilities, contact your local waste collection service or the shop where you bought this appliance.

IMPORTANT

Before leaving our factory all our products are rigorously tested. This is the reason why your VAPORELLA may contain some residual water in the boiler.

PREPARATION FOR USE

- Unscrew the self-refilling tank cap (1) (Fig.1) and fill the tank with about 1 litre of water, making sure it does not overflow. During filling we recommend to disconnect the appliance from the mains. Water tank can also be filled when removed from the boiler. In this case, separate the tank (3) from the appliance by pulling the lever upwards (3a) (Fig. 2). Once the tank (3) is filled, reposition the cap and replace the tank, making sure that it is correctly fitted to the appliance.

Normal tapwater can be used. In hard water areas we recommend the use of KAL-STOP, a special natural-base decalcifier which inhibits and breaks down limescale, making it easy to remove just by swilling out the tank with a little tapwater.

Do not use demineralised water alone, but mix it with tap water as described above.

Never use distilled water or scented water.

• Connect the cable plug to an earthed power supply of the correct voltage.
• Press the illuminated ON/OFF switch (2) (Fig. 3); the steam pressure indicator (5) and the "iron heating" indicator light (10a) will light up.
• The sound emitted on switching on your appliance and periodically during use, is due to the water refilling system and is quite normal.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

Check the manufacturer's label on the garment, and interpret the symbol on the label as follows:

STEAM IRONING

- For STEAM ironing, set the iron temperature to its maximum travel on the "COTTON - LINEN" steam position (fig.4), by turning the dial (7).

NB Set at its maximum, do NOT set against the picture of iron on the dial (7). Most fabric types, other than delicates can be STEAM-ironed at this temperature, please consult the garment label. If you want to DRY iron, set the dial (7) to the required temperature for the fabric, as shown on the dial.

NB fabric indications on the dial are for DRY ironing, for STEAM ironing set at maximum travel as explained above.

- Wait for both the pressure indicator light (5) and the iron heating indicator light (10a) to go out (about 3 minutes). Push the button (10) on the iron to release bursts of steam from the holes on the soleplate. Release the button and the steam flow stops (fig.5).

NOTE: during initial operation of the iron, a few drops of water mixed with steam may come out of the soleplate until the temperature stabilises. It is advisable to direct the first jets of steam onto an old cloth until a uniform jet of steam is obtained.

- By turning the steam flow control knob (6) you can vary the quantity of steam according to the kind of textiles to be ironed (more or less delicate). You can increase the

steam flow by turning the knob in clockwise direction. Turning it in an anticlockwise direction reduces the steam flow (fig.6). We suggest the maximum emission for heavy textiles like jeans and linen, medium for cotton, minimum for light delicate textiles.

- In order to have a continuous steam jet, move the button (10b) forwards. Steam will keep on coming out, even releasing the steam request button. To interrupt the outlet, move the button (10b) backwards (fig.6).

NOTE:

• Both (5) and (10a) lights go on and off during operation; this is quite normal and means that the electric resistance is operating to maintain constant the pressure in the boiler.
• If no steam is released from the iron, check that the steam pressure light (10a) is off.

FILLING THE BOILER

Thanks to the self-filling function, there is no longer any need to stop and wait to fill the boiler.

When the water inside the boiler reaches its lowest level, the thermostat will automatically activate a pump that will fill the boiler from the tank. If no steam issues on pressing the steam release switch and the water level warning light (4) lights up at the same time, it means there is no more water in the tank. To keep on working, simply restore the water level in the self-refilling tank as described in the "Preparation for use" paragraph.

CARE OF YOUR VAPORELLA

• Before attempting any maintenance operation, always disconnect the appliance from the mains.
• To clean the body of the appliance, simply use a moist cloth. Do not use solvents or detergents which may harm the body material.
