Frequently Asked Questions - 50330 WilTec

How do I prime the pump before first use?
Fill the pump housing with water through the outlet port until water flows out. Then connect the intake hose and start the pump. Ensure the intake hose is submerged.
The pump runs but no water comes out. What's wrong?
Check if the intake hose is clogged or kinked. Also verify that the pump is primed and the water level is above the intake strainer. The check valve may be stuck; try tapping it gently.
How often should I clean the pump filter?
Clean the intake filter every few uses or when you notice reduced flow. For dirty pond water, clean after each use.
Can I use this pump for seawater?
No, this pump is designed for fresh water only. Seawater will cause corrosion and damage the seals and impeller.
What does the thermal overload protection do?
If the pump overheats due to dry running or blockage, the thermal switch cuts power to prevent motor damage. Let it cool for 30 minutes before restarting after fixing the cause.
The pump is making unusual noise. Is it normal?
A slight humming is normal, but grinding or rattling indicates a problem. Check for air in the system, debris in the impeller, or worn bearings. Disassemble and inspect.
What is the maximum suction lift?
The maximum suction lift is approximately 2 meters (6.5 feet) above the water level. For best performance, keep the pump below the water source.
How do I winterize the pump?
Drain all water from the pump and hoses. Store in a frost-free location. Remove and dry the filter. Optionally, apply silicone grease to seals.
Can I replace the power cord myself?
If you are qualified, yes. Use a cord of the same type and rating (e.g., H05RN-F 3G1.0). Ensure proper grounding. Otherwise, contact a professional.
Where can I find spare parts for the WilTec 50330?
Spare parts are available from WilTec's online store or authorized dealers. Common parts include the seal kit (part no. 50330-01), impeller (50330-02), and capacitor (50330-03).

Keep the instructions and the safety guidelines in a safe place in case you need them in the future.

Stability

• The temperature of the liquid transported should not exceed +35 °C in permanent operation.
- The transport of aggressive fluids (acids, bases, etc.) as well as of abrasive substances (e.g., sand) must be avoided.

Electrical connection

  • The electrical connection takes place via an electric safety socket 230 V \~ 50 Hz. Fuse protection at least 10 A.
  • The engine is protected from overloading or blocking by means of a built-in motor protection. In case of overheating the pump is turned off automatically due to the overheat protection and after cooling down, the pump is automatically started.

Power connection

The pond pump is equipped with a safety plug. The device is designed for connection to an isolated ground receptacle with 230 V \~ 50 Hz. Make sure that the socket outlet is sufficiently fused (at least 6 A) and safe. Insert the plug in the socket outlet and the pond pump is ready for use.

Installation

WilTec 50330 - Installation - 1

REMARK:

  1. Check if the mains voltage corresponds to the indications stated on the nameplate of the device.
  2. Do not place the pump on the pond floor directly. Place it on a stone lest it do not suck in the pond mud.
  3. Comply with the maximum permitted immersion depth (this information is to be found as well on the model plate).
  4. The pump must be installed as follows: in a fixed position with fixed or flexible hose.
  5. Place the cable in a safe manner lest it not be damaged.
  6. You can modify the shape of the fountain jet by modifying the adapting screw of the fountain head. The flow rate can be regulated via the three-way valve.
  7. Connect the pump to the electrical circuit. The pump will start working.
  8. The pump shall work until disconnected from the electrical circuit.

Operation

After carefully reading the installation instructions, you can start the new pump if you note the following aspects:

  • Connect the suction cups with the motor body and filter basket.
  • The pump must not be used without a filter basket. The filter basket prevents constipation and resultant overheating and needs to be cleaned regularly.
  • Check if the pressure pipes have been installed properly.
    • Make sure that the electrical connection is 230 V \~ 50 Hz.
  • Check if the socket is in proper working order.
    • Make sure that moisture or water never reaches the mains connection.
    • Install the pump beneath the water surface.
  • Avoid that the pump runs dry.

Hints for maintenance

The pond motor pump is a maintenance-free and a practice-proven quality product that was subjected to rigorous final inspections. For a long working life and continuous operation, we recommend regular checking and proper care on a weekly basis.

Overload protection

The pump has an integrated overheat protection. After the pump is stopped it must cool down for a while due to the overheat control device, before it runs again. In case it does not run again by itself, the following checks shall be conducted:

Could the pump cool down sufficiently due after having been stopped by the overheat protection?

Is the water supply sufficient? > Improve the water supply!
Is the filter blocked? > If necessary, rinse the filter!
Is there dirt in the pump housing? > Perform cleaning!
Is the hose or the pipe blocked? > Clear the hose/pipe!
Is the hose broken, too long? > Check, replace, shorten!
