When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following:

2. Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs. Do not close or clog the steam vent opening under any circumstance.

Do not put ice, soup, milk, instant foods, tea, or any other substance except water into the Air pot.●Boiling water containing a tea bag, tea leaves, or instant foods can cause the water to foam and the contents of the pot to spurt out and scald you. It can also result in burning and decomposition of the food as well as peeling of the non-stick fluorine coating on the container.In addition, foreign objects may obstruct the internal pumping mechanism, preventing water from being dispensed.

How to Use

Before using the Air pot for the first time or if the Air pot has not been used for a long time, boil some water and press the push button several times. This water should be discarded. When you first use the Air pot, a slight smell of plastic may be noticed but this will gradually fade with use.

1 Open the upper lid and pour water into the Air pot.

Pour water into the Air pot using a kettle or pitcher.

● Do not fill directly from the tap. as overflowing water could cause a short circuit or electric shock.
- Do not fill the Air pot over the full water guide mark( MAX ). (Boiled water may overflow causing scalds.)
- Do not splash water on the Air pot body and control panel. (This may cause electric shocks and malfunction).

Close the upper lid.

Be sure to close the upper lid firmly.

Set the push button to "Close".

Push down the lid until you hear a clicking sound. When opening and closing the upper lid, it makes a clattering sound. This is a normal condition.

2 Boil water

Plug in the Air pot.

As soon as the power cord is connected, the "208" KEEP WARM lamp first illuminates and then the BOIL lamp illuminates. The Air pot automatically starts boiling water.

※ Dechlorination is also performed automatically.

Once the water has boiled, the "208" KEEP WARM lamp illuminates.

● Do not open the upper lid while the BOIL lamp is illuminated (this may cause scalds).
- Do not block the steam vent with a dish cloth or any other object.
- Do not dispense hot water while the water is boiling (this may cause scalds).
● Be careful when steam comes through the steam vent (this may cause scalds).
※ Do not set the handle right above the steam vent as the handle may become hot causing burns.

How to Use

3 Pouring hot water

※Be careful not to come in contact with steam from the Air pot.

Set the push button lock lever to the "OPEN" position and press the push button to pour boiled water.

- Do not press the push button forcefully when the water level is low. (Hot water splashes from the spout, which may cause scalds.)

● While boiling water or after dispensing hot water, be sure to reset the push button lock lever to the "CLOSE" position.

● When you turn the Air pot, be careful not to wind the power cord around the Air pot body (the Air pot may tip over).

- When opening the upper lid to add water, be careful not to come in contact with steam from the Air pot (this may cause scalds).

※ When boiling a small volume of water, the first cup will not be quite as hot as subsequent cups.

※ Immediately after boiling, water pours out from the spout quite powerfully. Be careful not to scald yourself.

※The Air pot body becomes hot while boiling water and warming water.

4 After use

① Unplug the power cord and detach the upper lid.

② As shown on the left, using both hands, hold the Air pot in the recommended position and discard the remaining hot water. (Hold the body securely so as not to drop it.)

● Be sure to detach the upper lid when pouring out the hot water. (Otherwise, the upper lid may fall off and cause burns.)

- Do not touch the plug receptacle or magnet plug with a wet hand (this may cause the Air pot to short-circuit or give you an electric shock).

● Be careful not to splash hot water on the hinge section or the panel (this may cause burns or malfunction).

● Be careful not to scald your hands with hot water spilling out from the spout.

● Be sure to discard unused hot water every day. (The remaining hot water in the Air pot may cause deposits in the inner container.)

If the inner container is stained with deposits, the boiling sound may become louder or hot water may not pour out smoothly.

Keep the Air pot clean by following the procedures in "Cleaning and Maintenance".(page 8)

■ Unplug the power cord from the outlet when the Air pot is not in use.

RE-BOIL When the Air pot is in Keep-warm mode, use this key to Re-boil the water.

●The RE-BOIL key does not work during boiling or immediately after boiling (for about 10 minutes).

Cleaning and Maintenance

Before cleaning the Air pot, always disconnect the plug from the electrical outlet. Pour out remaining hot water and allow to cool.

Discoloration of the inner container and white particles floating in the water.

Reddish rust spots (stains), discoloration with milky or dark deposits, and white floating particles are generated from water ingredients (minerals), and are not due to discoloration or corrosion of the container itself. Although these phenomena are not harmful to your health, regular cleaning is highly recommended.

Cleaning the Inner container and inner lid

Condition of stain varies depending on the water quality and frequency of use. Regular cleaning is recommended. Clean the inner container every one to three months with citric acid.

If the container is stained with deposits, the boiling sound may become louder or hot water may not pour out smoothly. Keep the Air pot clean by following the procedures in "Cleaning and Maintenance".

※ Do not immerse the Air pot in water.
※ Do not splash water on the control panel.

Cleaning/Descaling with Activated Descaling Cleaner or citric acid

1 Fill the inner container with water up to the full water guide mark (△MAX). Do not overfill. Add 1 oz of Activated Descaling Cleaner or citric acid.

2 Press the Cleaning/Descaling key.

●During the cleaning process the Keep warm(208) lamp and the Boil lamp will flash simultaneously.

About 1 hour and 30 minutes

●End of cleaning:

※Time required to complete cleaning varies depending on the Air pot size, room temperature and water temperature.

3 Unplug the power cord and discard the hot water. Remove the adhered deposits with a moistened soft sponge. Then, rinse the inner container thoroughly.
4 To remove the odor of citric acid, refill the inner container with water, and bring to boil. Then discard the water.

To cancel Cleaning / Descaling, unplug the power cord for more than 3 seconds.

※If the deposits and stains are difficult to remove, repeat cleaning with citric acid.

If the Activated Descaling Cleaner is not available at your local store, please call Zojirushi Service Center at:1-800-733-6270.

And ask for ADC-10 (contains three 1 oz packs of Activated Descaling Cleaner).

Cleaning the Upper lid and body

Wipe off with a slightly damp dish cloth.

※Do not immerse the Air Pot in water.
※Do not splash water on the panel.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Information

※ When using alkali ion water, frequent cleaning is recommended as calcium in the water is likely to adhere to the inner container.
※ Although the inner container is coated with nonstick fluorine, it will not remain completely free from discoloration if you do not clean it for a long time.

Caution

Do not use the following for cleaning:

●Kitchen detergent (causes a smell in the inner container)
●Abrasive cleanser, nylon scrub brush (which scratches the inner container and inner lid)
●Benzine, thinner (which damages the inner container and inner lid)
● Dish-washer, dish-dryer (which deforms the Air pot)

Storing the Air pot

●Dry the Air pot completely.
●Wrap the Air pot in plastic bags or the like to protect it from dust and insects.

To change the rubber seal of the inner lid

The rubber seal on the inner lid is a consumable item. Check it about once a year. If damaged, replace with a new rubber seal.

When replacing the rubber seal, check the model number and purchase a new rubber seal at the store where you purchased the product. Or contact the nearest authorized service center.

To remove the inner lid rubber seal

① Loosen the three screws.

※Do not remove the screws completely. Should the screws be removed, keep the screws and ball close at hand.

② Remove the rubber seal.

To attach the inner lid rubber seal

① Fit the rubber seal securely to the rim of the inner lid as shown in the figure.
② Tighten the three screws.

※If the inner lid has been detached be sure to set the ball in the position shown in the figure before attaching the inner lid. Then tighten the three screws.

Condition	Cause	Remedy
Water does not boil.	The power cord is unplugged.	Plug in the power cord.
	A metal object or dust is on the tip of the magnetic plug.	Unplug the power cord from the outlet and the receptacle and clean the plug end.
Hot water does not pour out at all or does not pour out smoothly.	The upper lid is not closed.	Close the upper lid securely.
	The inner lid rubber seal is not correctly set.	Set the inner lid rubber seal correctly.
	The inner lid rubber seal is damaged.	Replace the inner lid rubber seal.
Hot water overflows from the spout.	The water level exceeds the full water guide mark.	Reduce the amount of water until it is below the full water guide mark.
White deposits appear in the water being served.	Deposits are formed by the mineral content of the water you are using. They are not due to corrosion of the inner container or peeling of the nonstick fluorine coating.	Clean the inner container with citric acid.(See Cleaning and Main-tenance, page 8.)
A loud sound is heard during boiling.	If there are deposits adhering to the inner container, the boiling sound becomes louder.
Keep warm and Boil lamps illuminate simultaneously.	The safety auto-shut off function has turned ON because the water level is low or hot water is added. (See Safety auto-shut off, page 11.)	Unplug the Air pot and add water after the inner container has cooled down.

Condition	Cause
When opening and closing the upper lid, it makes a clattering sound.	This clattering sound is generated by the ball moving in the upper lid. The ball is built in the lid to prevent spillage of hot water when the Air pot is accidentally tilted over. The sound is normal.
Hot water has a disagreeable odor.	The odor of disinfectant chlorine in the tap water may be left in some cases.
	When you first use the Air pot, a slight smell of plastic may be noticed but this will gradually fade with use.
"208"Keep Warm lamp and Boil lamp flashes simultaneously.	The Cleaning/Descaling mode is functioning.(See "Cleaning and Maintenance", page 8.)

Before calling for service

Safety Auto-shut off

In the following cases, the safety auto-shut off function turns ON and cuts off power to the heater in order to prevent a failure due to overheating. The Keep warm and Boil lamps illuminate simultaneously to signal that the safety auto-shut off function is ON.

Cause

● When the Air pot is plugged in with no water in the inner container
● When the water level is below the refill mark
● When unused hot water is left or the upper lid is kept open to refill water
● When boiled water is poured into the inner container

Corrective action

Pour water after the inner container has completely cooled.

Repeated empty boiling may cause discoloration or peeling of the nonstick coating.
