Frequently Asked Questions - DS-4RSS Sabrent

How do I install a hard drive in the Sabrent DS-4RSS docking station?
Insert the SATA drive into an empty bay, aligning the connector. Gently push until seated. The drive will lock in place. For 2.5-inch drives, use the included adapter if needed.
Can I use SSDs in the DS-4RSS?
Yes, the DS-4RSS supports both 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch SATA SSDs.
How do I perform offline cloning?
Insert the source drive in bay 1 and the target drive in bay 2. Press and hold the CLONE button for 3 seconds until the LED flashes. Cloning begins. Do not power off during the process.
What is the maximum drive capacity supported?
The docking station supports SATA drives up to 10TB per bay, depending on the drive's interface.
Does the DS-4RSS require external power?
Yes, it requires the included 12V DC power adapter to operate, as USB power alone is insufficient for multiple drives.
Can I use the DS-4RSS with USB 2.0 ports?
Yes, it is backward compatible with USB 2.0, but transfer speeds will be limited to 480 Mbps.
How do I remove a drive safely?
First, eject the drive from your operating system. Then, push the eject button (or use the lever) to release the drive. Gently pull it out.
Is the DS-4RSS compatible with Linux?
Yes, it works with Linux systems that have USB mass storage support. Drives will appear as external devices.
What should I do if a drive is not detected?
Check the power connection, try a different USB port, and ensure the drive is properly seated. For large drives, verify they are formatted with a compatible file system (e.g., NTFS, exFAT).
Can I mix different drive sizes and brands in the bays?
Yes, each bay operates independently. You can use any combination of 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch SATA drives from different manufacturers.
