Configuring the Automatic Adjustment Settings

7JWC-004

The image position and color settings can be adjusted automatically during the printing process or in various intervals.

Periodic automatic adjustment of the image position (initial adjustment)(P. 8)
Automatic adjustment of the image position or colors for every Printing process(P. 10)
Automatic adjustment of the image position and colors during the printing process(P. 11)

■Automatic adjustment of the image position

This function allows you to print adjustment pages periodically during the printing process or print markers in the margin area and adjust the image position automatically. You can also print a test page to adjust the image position automatically when you start using new paper.

CANON imagePRESS C10010VP - ■Automatic adjustment of the image position - 1

IMPORTANT

- In the following cases, you may not be able to adjust the image accurately enough by using the automatic adjustment function.

- When you use paper sheets that have not been properly cut

- When you feed paper or switch between paper decks during the printing process

  • The Sensing Unit may not be able to detect markers on colored paper, translucent film, label paper, pre-punched paper, paper that has logos or patterns already printed on it (preprinted paper), or long sheets.
  • The paper sheets in the paper deck may shrink or stretch due to changes in temperature and humidity. If you need to print a job with automatic adjustment of the image position, we recommend doing so as quickly as possible before the conditions for the initial adjustment change.
  • When performing automatic adjustment by printing markers in the margin area, the markers may not be detected if the images are too close. Make sure you leave a gap that is about 1 mm (0.04") wide.

NOTE

  • Before printing a job with automatic adjustment of the image position, we recommend carrying out Periodic automatic adjustment of the image position (initial adjustment)(P. 8).
    • We recommend using a single paper deck for jobs with automatic adjustment.
  • When you perform the procedure for automatic adjustment of the image position with the custom paper type, the adjustment settings are saved after the job is printed.

■ Automatic color adjustment

This function allows you to print adjustment pages periodically during the printing process or print patches in the margin area and adjust the colors automatically.

CANON imagePRESS C10010VP - ■ Automatic color adjustment - 1

IMPORTANT

- The Sensing Unit may not be able to detect patches on colored paper, translucent film, label paper, pre-punched paper, paper that has logos or patterns already printed on it (preprinted paper), or long sheets.

  • You may not be able to adjust the colors with the automatic adjustment function if the label paper, pre-punched paper, paper that has logos or patterns already printed on it (preprinted paper), transparent paper, watermarked paper, long sheets, or any other types of paper sheets are dirty or if they emit large quantities of paper dust.
  • The automatic color adjustment function may not effectively prevent color fluctuations. Use this function for continuous printing operations with the same type of media (same finish, same basis weight, and same size) and with the specified minimum amount of sheets.

- Adjustment by printing patches in the margin area: 500 sheets or more

- Adjustment by inserting adjustment pages: 1000 sheets or more

- When performing automatic adjustment by printing patches in the margin area, the patches may not be detected if the images are too close. Make sure you leave a gap that is about 1 mm (0.04") wide.

NOTE

  • Before starting to print with the automatic color adjustment function, we recommend performing automatic gradation adjustment.
  • When performing automatic color adjustment with new paper, we recommend printing a test page before printing the final product.

Periodic automatic adjustment of the image position (initial adjustment)

You can perform periodic automatic adjustment of the image position at any point during the printing process for the custom paper type.

CANON imagePRESS C10010VP - Periodic automatic adjustment of the image position (initial adjustment) - 1

Automatic adjustment of the image position or colors for every Printing process

If you start a job where an adjustment page is output every time a specific number of sheets are printed, automatic adjustment will be carried out with adjustment pages printed in the specified interval. For more information, refer to the manual for your drivers.

CANON imagePRESS C10010VP - Automatic adjustment of the image position or colors for every Printing process - 1

IMPORTANT

  • Do not use this function with paper that has logos or patterns already printed on it (preprinted paper) or if the paper sheets are dirty.
  • You need to add enough paper sheets to the paper deck to print the adjustment pages.
  • If a paper jam occurs during a job with automatic adjustment, the adjustment pages may not be printed.

NOTE

• Automatic adjustment will not be carried out for any jobs you start by interrupting the job in progress.
- Such jobs may not start in the interruption time intervals you set. Keep in mind that the interval setting is merely an estimate.
- The interruption correction function reduces the fluctuations within jobs with large numbers of sheets. If you wish to prioritize accuracy by adjusting the interruption intervals, increase the interruption frequency. However, that will also require more adjustment pages and therefore decrease productivity.
- The adjustment may not be as effective for jobs where multiple types of paper are used simultaneously.
- When you start a job with automatic color adjustment, a standard test page is printed before the specified interruption interval in order to carry out the adjustment process.

■ Configuring the interval for automatic adjustment

1 Press (Settings/Registration).

2 Press [Preferences] ▶ [Paper Settings] [Paper Type Management Settings].

NOTE:

Automatic adjustment of the image position and colors during the printing process

If you start a job where adjustment patches or markers are printed in the paper margin area, automatic adjustment will be carried out during the printing process. For more information, refer to the manual for your drivers.

CANON imagePRESS C10010VP - Automatic adjustment of the image position and colors during the printing process - 1

IMPORTANT

- Patches and markers will be printed over parts of your images. Do not use this function when printing with a bleed smaller than the following dimensions.

  • Automatic adjustment of the image position: 9.21 mm (3/8") or more along the leading edge and 9.5 mm (3/8") or more along the horizontal length
  • Automatic color adjustment: 8.5 mm (3/8") or more along the leading edge *

* Paper with 327.8 mm (12 7/8") or more along the leading edge requires a margin of 9.7 mm (3/8") or more.

• Automatic adjustment is carried out based on the characteristics of the printed paper scanned by the Sensing Unit. Therefore, if you switch to a different paper deck, add more paper to it, or make any other changes to the paper stack, the adjustment based on the characteristics of the new paper will not take effect immediately.

SIL OPEN FONT LICENSE Version 1.1 - 26 February 2007

PREAMBLE

The goals of the Open Font License (OFL) are to stimulate worldwide development of collaborative font projects, to support the font creation efforts of academic and linguistic communities, and to provide a free and open framework in which fonts may be shared and improved in partnership with others.

The OFL allows the licensed fonts to be used, studied, modified and redistributed freely as long as they are not sold by themselves. The fonts, including any derivative works, can be bundled, embedded, redistributed and/or sold with any software provided that any reserved names are not used by derivative works. The fonts and derivatives, however, cannot be released under any other type of license. The requirement for fonts to remain under this license does not apply to any document created using the fonts or their derivatives.

DEFINITIONS

"Font Software" refers to the set of files released by the Copyright Holder(s) under this license and clearly marked as such. This may include source files, build scripts and documentation.

"Reserved Font Name" refers to any names specified as such after the copyright statement(s).

"Original Version" refers to the collection of Font Software components as distributed by the Copyright Holder(s).

"Modified Version" refers to any derivative made by adding to, deleting, or substituting -- in part or in whole -- any of the components of the Original Version, by changing formats or by porting the Font Software to a new environment.

"Author" refers to any designer, engineer, programmer, technical writer or other person who contributed to the Font Software.

PERMISSION & CONDITIONS

Permission is hereby granted, free of charge, to any person obtaining a copy of the Font Software, to use, study, copy, merge, embed, modify, redistribute, and sell modified and unmodified copies of the Font Software, subject to the following conditions:

1) Neither the Font Software nor any of its individual components, in Original or Modified Versions, may be sold by itself.
2) Original or Modified Versions of the Font Software may be bundled, redistributed and/or sold with any software, provided that each copy contains the above copyright notice and this license. These can be included either as stand-alone text files, human-readable headers or in the appropriate machine-readable metadata fields within text or binary files as long as those fields can be easily viewed by the user.
3) No Modified Version of the Font Software may use the Reserved Font Name(s) unless explicit written permission is granted by the corresponding Copyright Holder. This restriction only applies to the primary font name as presented to the users.
4) The name(s) of the Copyright Holder(s) or the Author(s) of the Font Software shall not be used to promote, endorse or advertise any Modified Version, except to acknowledge the contribution(s) of the Copyright Holder(s) and the Author(s) or with their explicit written permission.
5) The Font Software, modified or unmodified, in part or in whole, must be distributed entirely under this license, and must not be distributed under any other license. The requirement for fonts to remain under this license does not apply to any document created using the Font Software.

TERMINATION

This license becomes null and void if any of the above conditions are not met.

DISCLAIMER

THE FONT SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO ANY WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NONINFRINGEMENT OF COPYRIGHT, PATENT, TRADEMARK, OR OTHER RIGHT. IN NO EVENT SHALL THE COPYRIGHT HOLDER BE LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES OR OTHER LIABILITY, INCLUDING ANY GENERAL, SPECIAL, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, WHETHER IN AN ACTION OF CONTRACT, TORT OR OTHERWISE, ARISING FROM, OUT OF THE USE OR INABILITY TO USE THE FONT SOFTWARE OR FROM OTHER DEALINGS IN THE FONT SOFTWARE.
