Frequently Asked Questions - EK1401 N'oveen

How do I descale my N'oveen EK1401 kettle?
Fill the kettle to maximum capacity with a mixture of vinegar and water in a 1:2 ratio. Boil the mixture and let it sit overnight. Then pour it out, rinse thoroughly, and boil clean water twice to remove any residue.
Can I use the kettle with any liquid other than water?
No, the kettle is designed only for heating water. Using milk, oil, or other liquids can damage the appliance and create a safety hazard.
Why does the kettle turn off before the water boils?
This may be due to limescale buildup on the heating element. Descale the kettle as described in the manual. Also ensure the lid is properly closed and there is sufficient water (between MIN and MAX marks).
How do I clean the exterior of the kettle?
Wipe the body with a soft, damp cloth or sponge. For stubborn dirt, use a mild detergent on the cloth. Never use abrasive cleaners or immerse the kettle in water.
Is the kettle safe to leave unattended?
The kettle has an automatic shut-off function, but it is recommended to never leave it unattended while in use. Always switch off and unplug when not in use.
What type of water should I use?
Use cold tap water only. Do not fill with hot water, milk, or other liquids. Always fill between the MIN and MAX markings.
How often should I descale the kettle?
Descale at least twice a year. Frequency depends on water hardness; in hard water areas, descale more often (e.g., every 1-2 months).
Can I open the lid while the kettle is boiling?
No, always keep the lid closed during operation to avoid burns. Do not press the lid opening button until the kettle has cooled down.
What does the control lamp indicate?
The control lamp on the water level indicator lights up to show that the water is being heated. It turns off when the boiling cycle is complete and the kettle switches off.
My kettle stopped working. What should I check?
First, check the power connection and ensure the base is dry. Make sure the kettle is properly seated on the base. If it still doesn't work, contact an authorized service center. Do not attempt to repair yourself.
