1. Warnings
Important information on safety – Read before using
The Lumilisse Hair Remover cannot be used by everyone. Before using, read the following guidelines. If you are unsure about using the Lumilisse Hair Remover, please consult your dermatologist or your healthcare provider.

DO NOT USE the Lumilisse Hair Remover on naturally dark skin!
The Lumilisse Hair Remover will remove unwanted hair by selectively targeting the pigments in the hair. The amount of pigment in a person's skin determines not only the color, but it can also influence how well a user responds to light depilation, regardless of which type and what side effects might occur. The darker the skin, the higher the risk of side effects.
The treatment of dark skin with the Lumilisse Hair Remover may lead to side effects, like burns, blisters and changes in skin color (hyper or hypopigmentation).

DO NOT USE the Lumilisse Hair Remover on tanned skin or after recent exposure to the sun!

DO NOT USE the Lumilisse Hair Remover on tanned skin or after recent exposure to the sun! Such exposure may cause serious burns or severe damage to your skin. Avoid exposing yourself to sunlight or an artificial tanning machine for 4 weeks before treatment with the Lumilisse Hair Remover, and for 2 weeks following treatment. Do not expose the treatment areas to sunlight. Be sure to protect the skin treated with the Lumilisse Hair Remover with an effective sunscreen, both during the treatment period and for at least 14 days past the last treatment session.

DO NOT USE the Lumilisse Hair Remover near your eyes.
Pointing the Lumilisse Hair Remover at your eyes when activated can cause serious eye damage. The appliance is not intended for removing hair from eyelashes or eyebrows.

Keep away from your eyes!

4. Possible side effects
When your Lumilisse Hair Remover is used according to these instructions, side effects and complications are rare. Nonetheless, all cosmetic treatments, even those designed for use at home, involve some risks. Therefore, it is important to understand and accept these risks and possible complications when you use a pulsed light depilation system designed for use at home.
If you overlap pulses or administer multiple pulses on the same patch of skin, you may experience the following side effects (see Section 6 for instructions on how to use the unit correctly):
8
| Side Effects | Severity/Likelihood of the Side Effect |
| Slight discomfort / mild stinging sensation in the skin | Light |
| Redness | Light |
| Hypersensitivity of the skin | Light |
| Burns or sores | Rare |
| Scarring | Rare |
| Change in pigmentation | Rare |
| Excessive redness of the skin and swelling | Rare |
| Infection | Rare |
| Bruising | Rare |
| Increased hair growth | Rare |
■ Mild stinging sensation in the skin
Even though the pulsed light depilation is generally tolerated well, most people who use it feel a slight stinging sensation during use, also described as a prickling sensation on the area being treated. Generally, this sensation lasts throughout the application, even for a few minutes afterward. Any discomfort beyond this sensation is abnormal and means that either you must stop the treatment, because you cannot tolerate it, or you must lower the selected power level.
Redness
Your skin could become red just after use of the Lumilisse Hair Remover or in the 24 hours following treatment. The redness generally disappears within 24 hours. Consult your physician if it persists longer than 2 to 3 days.
■ Hypersensitivity of the skin
The skin is more sensitive in the area that has been treated and could dry out and fl ake.
Burns or sores
In rare circumstances, your skin may burn or blister after treatment (follow instructions in Section 6 for proper usage).
Scarring
Even though these cases are very rare, permanent scars may appear. Generally, the scars take the form of a whitish, superficial lesion (hypotrophic). Nonetheless, the scar may be large and red (hypertrophic) or large and extended beyond the injured area (keloid). If scarring occurs, consult your physician.
■ Change in pigmentation
The Lumilisse Hair Remover targets the hair roots, in particular, the pigmented cells of the bulb. Nonetheless, there is a risk of temporary hyperpigmentation (increase in the brown pigmentation or discoloration) or hypopigmentation (whitening) of the surrounding skin. The risk of change in pigmentation is higher among people with darker skin. Generally, the change in pigmentation and the discoloration are temporary. Cases of permanent hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation are rare.
9
■ Excessive redness and swelling
In some rare cases, treated skin may become unusually red and swollen. This reaction is more common on sensitive areas of the body. The redness and the swelling should disappear within 2 to 7 days. During this time, you should especially avoid any exposure to the sun.
■ Infection
A skin infection is rare, but may occur after a burn or a lesion of the skin caused by the Lumilisse Hair Remover.
Bruising
Very rarely, using the Lumilisse Hair Remover may cause some blue or purple bruising which could last 5 to 10 days. As the blue disappears, the skin may take on a rusty color (hyperpigmentation) that could be permanent.
■ Increased hair growth
It is rare to see an increase in the density of hair growth in a treated area. Hair grows in cycles (see Section 5) and any increase in hair growth is generally temporary.
Please consult your doctor if you experience persistent or severe discomfort or irritation during or after the Lumilisse treatment.
5. Intense Pulsed Light Hair Removal
Device Indications for Use:
The Lumilisse IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) Hair Remover is an over-the-counter device intended for the removal of unwanted hair.
IPL, a safe, clinically proven technology, will eliminate unwanted hair gently and painlessly, leaving skin smooth and silky for a long time.
This epilation procedure produces a pulsed light that is absorbed by the melanin (the pigment in your hair), and carried to the bulb, where it is transformed into heat. The thermal effect painlessly destroys the hair and roots and prevents regrowth. This scientifically proven technology gives quick and lasting results.
The Lumilisse IPL Hair Remover offers a safe and long-lasting epilation in the privacy and comfort of your own home.
The Lumilisse Hair Remover is a hair-removal device that eliminates unwanted hair from the body (in particular, legs and arms), and from more sensitive areas (underarms, bikini line, lower half of the face – below the cheekbones).
The Lumilisse Hair Remover can be used by adults aged 21 and older.
5.1 Long-lasting hair removal method with the Lumilisse Hair Remover
The Lumilisse Hair Remover is a long-lasting, personal photo-epilation device. The photo-epilation procedure (intense pulsed light) is well known and safe to use. It has been widely used by professionals for more than 15 years and clinical studies have proven that it is safe and effective in gradual, but long-lasting hair removal.
■ How does the light eliminate hair?
Photo-epilation is based on the theory of selective photothermolysis which uses optical energy to stop the growth of the hair. The pulsed light targets the pigment present in the hair to get through to the root and prevent the hair from growing back. Melanin is the pigment found in the hair, which first absorbs the light and then transforms the light into heat in order to stop the hair growth. The more melanin in the hair (i.e., the darker the hair), the more light it can absorb and the more efficient photo-epilation becomes.

Growth phase of the hair: Anagen

Transition phase: Catagen

Resting/dormant phase: Telogen
■ What impact does the growth cycle of the hair have on photo-epilation?
Every hair on our body has three growth phases: the anagen, catagen and telogen phases. These three phases play an important role in the process of photo-epilation. The anagen phase is the growth phase of the hair, while the catagen and telogen phases are both resting phases. The time the hair takes to go through its follicular cycle varies widely from one person to the next, and from one part of the body to the next. Typically a full cycle averages 18 to 24 months.
![graph TD A["anagen"] --> B["catagen"] B --> C["telogen"] C --> A style A fill:#f9f,stroke:#333 style B fill:#f9f,stroke:#333 style C fill:#f9f,stroke:#333 note right of A "18 to 24 months"](/content/2026/05/890362/images/01eb7282d14e9ba959587b3792865c25554fecafdb9b0fb9fac4d63355b153e2.jpg)
Most hair follicles are found at any one time in one of the two resting phases. During these phases, the Lumilisse Hair Remover will have no effect on the hairs. The intense pulsed light of the Lumilisse Hair Remover will only affect the hair that is in the anagen phase. That is why a full treatment with the Lumilisse Hair Remover will take as long as your own individual follicular cycle: You want to ensure that each hair gets exposed to the intense pulsed light during its anagen phase.
■ Optimizing the results by planning your Lumilisse Hair Remover sessions
A full follicular cycle takes on average from 18 to 24 months, during which sessions with
your Lumilisse Hair Remover will be necessary to obtain long-lasting results.
The efficiency of the appliance will vary from one person to the next and will depend on the area being treated, the color of the hair and the way in which the appliance is used. There is no way to know exactly how long your individual follicular cycle will be, so it is best to monitor hair growth and use the Lumilisse Hair Remover until your hair growth has stabilized.
5.2 SKIN COLOR SENSOR SYSTEM – automatic detection of intensity level
For best results with the Lumilisse Hair Remover, plan your sessions well in advance.
The Lumilisse Hair Remover features 5 levels of intensity, running from the lowest (level 1) to the highest (level 5). The level of intensity indicates the intensity of the pulsed light applied to the skin when using the Lumilisse Hair Remover.
It is important to regulate the intensity level according to your skin color. Darker skin, which contains more melanin, needs lower intensity levels than lighter skin.
For effective and safe treatment, the Lumilisse Hair Remover is equipped with the Skin Color Sensor System, a skin color detection system that automatically regulates the light intensity applied to the skin.
Note that the skin color can vary from one body part to the next, and even on the same limb: Your lower arm, for instance, may have one color on the inside of the wrist, a darker color on the top of the underarm and a lighter color on the inside of the elbow. When in doubt, it is better to re-scan your skin with the skin color sensor to determine the best energy level to use. To scan, simply turn the unit over with the energy level indicator light LEDs, labeled 1 through 5, facing up so that the skin sensor touches your skin. It will read the skin color and suggest a power level. Press the trigger button on the handle to confirm the power level, or you can manually override the suggested power level by pushing the "+" or "-" buttons on the unit. Manually overriding the suggested power level is not recommended until you have used the device several times and have experience with how certain power levels affect your skin (see included skin color chart).
Description of the different skin color types or phototypes according to Fitzpatrick

| I | very white, milky | Does not tan with constant sunbathing | Level 3 °° |
| II | light | Tans a little with frequent sunbathing | Level 3 ° |
| III | beige | Tans to a degree with Level 2 occasional sunbathing | |
| IV | light brown | Tans easily with little sunbathing | Level 2 ° |
| V | dark | Tans very easily with hardly any sunbathing | Using Lumilisse HairRemover is not permitted |
| VI | very dark, black | Using Lumilisse HairRemover is not permitted |
- : recommended level.
○: level authorized if there is no discomfort and no side effects following the previous session.
⊗: level not authorized.
5.3 Planning depilation sessions with the Lumilisse Hair Remover
You should plan your depilation sessions with the Lumilisse Hair Remover in advance! We recommend you use the following schedule, which has delivered excellent results:
• The first 4 depilation sessions with the Lumilisse Hair Remover should be 2 weeks apart.
- The following depilation sessions with the Lumilisse Hair Remover should be 4 weeks apart (until the desired result is achieved).
- If hair grows back subsequently, you will then use the Lumilisse Hair Remover on an occasional basis to achieve lasting results, ensuring at least 4 weeks between the depilation sessions.

NOTE:
- Treating the same area more than once in a two-week period does not improve results and risks having undesired effects.
- It is recommended that you use the Lumilisse Hair Remover with moderation, i.e., not repeating the treatment with the Lumilisse Hair Remover indefinitely. A full treatment (9 to 10 depilation sessions in total) performed once every year is sufficient for very satisfactory results.
NOTE: Hormonal factors and physiological changes can cause resting hairs to become active. Maintenance depilation sessions with the Lumilisse Hair Remover can be performed (with at least 4 weeks between the sessions).

| Half leg 8 to 10 minutes Glide mode | |
| Leg 15 minutes Glide mode | |
| Back 5 minutes Glide mode | |
| Torso | 5 minutes Glide mode |
| Bikini line | 2 minutes Precision mode |
| Armpit | 1 minutePrecision mode |
| Face | 1 minutePrecision mode |
NOTE: The different operating modes (Glide and Precision) are explained in Section 6.4.
5.4 Expected depilation results
The first results are visible after 4 sessions and you can expect to achieve a very significant decrease in the amount of hair after 9 to 10 sessions.
The results will vary from one person to the next and according to the type of hair and biological factors that determine the growth cycle of the hair.
Some people achieve results more or less quickly than the average number of sessions that we recommend.
Long-lasting results cannot be expected after just one or two sessions. Here again, the duration of the resting cycle of the hair follicles varies from one area of the body to the next.
NOTE: The Lumilisse Hair Remover is not effective on white, light red or light-colored hair.

5.6 Quartz technology
Your Lumilisse IPL Hair Remover has a high performance flash lamp with an exceptionally long life thanks to quartz technology. This technology offers the flash lamp an extraordinary durability, resulting in extra-long usage. With no replacement to buy, the lamp included offers results for many years, for a lasting, effective and less expensive treatment.
5.7 Using the Lumilisse Hair Remover safely
Safety is a priority with the Lumilisse Hair Remover
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technology provides maximum safety and minimum risk. Epilation using the Intense Pulsed Light technology lets you achieve long-lasting results. The Lumilisse Hair Remover's low energy use reduces the chances of injury or complications and contributes to your overall safety.
The Lumilisse Hair Remover has a system to protect your eyes
The Lumilisse Hair Remover is designed with a built-in system (skin contact sensor) that will protect your eyes. This was designed so that the pulse cannot be emitted if the Lumilisse Hair Remover is aimed at open space. The safety mechanism only allows the unit to work when the application surface (colored treatment window) is touching the skin. Do not look at the area being treated when the unit flashes. Light will be visible even if the unit is in full contact with your skin. This is part of the normal operating procedure. It is safe, but if the light is uncomfortable or too bright, you may wear sunglasses or goggles for your convenience. Just make sure that the glasses / goggles allow you to clearly see where you are placing the device on your skin.
6. Use of the Lumilisse Hair Remover
6.1 Preparing the skin
Body
Before you use the Lumilisse Hair Remover on the body, your skin must be shaved (24 hours beforehand), clean, dry and free from any residue of powder or deodorant. Warning: Do not depilate (with an electric depilator, tweezers or waxing) before using Lumilisse Hair Remover. Epilating (removing hair from the root) would prevent intense pulsed light (IPL) treatment from having any effect.

Face
Do not shave the different areas of the face before use.
Before using the Lumilisse Hair Remover on the face, remove all traces of cream, lotion or makeup. Warning: Do not depilate (with an electric depilator, tweezers or waxing) before using the Lumilisse Hair Remover. Epilating (removing hair from the root) would prevent intense pulsed light (IPL) treatment from having any effect.

6.2 Carrying out a test with the Lumilisse Hair Remover

The Ready LED flashes green when the unit is correctly positioned on the skin and ready to release a light pulse (FIG. 9).
- Press the trigger button to release a light pulse onto the skin (FIG. 10).
NOTE: You may feel a slight hot sensation and tingling. This is normal.
- Move the application surface to another area of skin and press the trigger button to release another light pulse. Take care not to overlay the light pulses.
If you do not experience any abnormal reactions or discomfort
(FIG. 11) 48 hours after the test, you may start treatment and move onto Chapter 6.3, "Treatment with Lumilisse Hair Remover."
16 17
If your skin does not react correctly to the test (FIG. 18), if you experience any abnormal reactions or discomfort after 48 hours, perform a second test at intensity level 1, whatever your phototype, without considering the Skin Sensor, and wait 48 hours (FIG. 19-20-21).
- If you react correctly to this second test, proceed with the first treatment session, manually selecting level 1.
- If your skin does not react correctly to this second test, we recommend not using the appliance.
For subsequent sessions, if there is absolutely no discomfort or side effects, you may gradually increase the power level over the sessions, with respect to the table below and using the intensity choice log to help you;
- Phototype I:
- Phototype II:
- Phototype III: ◎○○○⊗
- Phototype IV: ◯○○⊗⊗

6.3 Treatment with the Lumilisse Hair Remover
We recommend that you always use the Skin Sensor on your skin before each depilation session and each change to the treatment area. Remember that different areas on the same limb may be different skin colors (e.g., inside wrist and top of underarm). When you first start out using the Lumilisse Hair Remover, start on your body, not your face, using the body attachment until you gain confidence using the unit.
- Plug the adapter cord into the power jack on the handle of the Lumilisse Hair Remover (FIG. 1 on the Quick Start Usage Guide included).
- Plug the other end of the adapter into a power outlet.
The ON/OFF button turns on and is orange in color (FIG. 2).
- Switch on the unit by pressing the ON/OFF button (FIG. 3).
The ON/OFF button turns green.
The power level 1 LED indicator is on. Level 1 is programmed by default when the unit is switched on (FIG. 4).
- Place the unit Skin Sensor on the area of skin where you wish to perform treatment (FIG. 12).
The intensity level LED indicator(s) switch on and flash, showing that the unit has successfully detected the phototype of the area of skin to be depilated and has adjusted the power level automatically (FIG. 13).
- Press once on the trigger to confirm (FIG. 14).
The intensity level LED indicator(s) stop flashing (FIG. 15).
- Position the application surface on the area of skin detected and keep the application surface still, in position, to ensure total contact.
The Ready LED flashes green when the unit is correctly positioned on the skin and ready to release a light pulse (FIG. 16).
- Press the trigger button to release a light pulse onto the skin (FIG. 17).
NOTE: You may feel a slight hot sensation and tingling. This is normal.
- Move the application surface to another area of skin and press the trigger button to release another light pulse. Take care not to overlay the light pulses.
Only if there are absolutely no side effects following the previous session, you may increase the power level manually to increase effectiveness. Please refer to the chart on page 17 for intensity levels recommended for your phototype. Do not increase intensity by more than one level per session, and do not surpass the level recommended for your skin type.
If you experience any discomfort, reduce to the previous power level.
NOTE: If a non-authorized level has been reached using the manual control with respect to the skin color determined by the Skin Sensor, the power level LED indicator in question will flash 3 times to indicate a non-authorized level. We therefore recommend manually reducing the power level to an authorized level.
6.4 Operating modes
The Lumilisse Hair Remover features two operating modes: Precision mode and Glide mode. The two modes differ in how the light pulse is triggered. In Precision mode, you manually trigger each pulse by pressing the trigger button. In Glide mode, you press and hold the trigger button as you slide the unit across your skin, with flashes being automatically released at a rate preset for each intensity level. Glide mode allows you to move a little faster.
Start out in Precision mode. If you have successfully used Precision mode several times and feel comfortable with your experience level, you can try the Glide mode, being careful not to overlap treatment areas.
A. Precision mode

Precision mode allows you to safely treat the more hard-to-reach, sensitive areas of the body (face, armpits, bikini line, etc.).
To treat the face, fit the special facial attachment to the top of the device and follow the safety precautions described in the chapter on facial depilation with the Lumilisse Hair Remover.
Follow these steps:
See steps 1 to 8 of chapter 6.3, "Treatment with the Lumilisse Hair Remover."
B. Glide mode

In Glide mode, the light pulses from your Lumilisse Hair Remover are released automatically and constantly without any additional actions being necessary (36 light pulses per minute, constantly, at level 1).
Follow these steps:
-
To activate Glide mode, repeat steps 1 and 6 of chapter 6.3, "Treatment with the Lumilisse Hair Remover." Then correctly place the application surface of the Lumilisse Hair Remover against your skin while holding down the trigger button on the device.
-
Glide the Lumilisse Hair Remover over your skin without interruptions, in a slow, continuous movement, without making any up or down movements.
NOTE:
- If you remove the Lumilisse Hair Remover from your skin while holding down the trigger button, it will stay in Glide mode for 5 seconds. However, for your own safety, the pulsed light will only be released if the Lumilisse Hair Remover is in full contact with your skin. You should ensure that the application surface of the Lumilisse Hair Remover is in full contact with your skin in order to allow it to glide.
- If the application surface of the Lumilisse Hair Remover is not in full contact with your skin, you will have 5 seconds in which to ensure that the Lumilisse Hair Remover is in full contact, while holding down the trigger button. If that window of 5 seconds is exceeded and there is still not complete contact with the skin, Glide mode will be deactivated and then you release the trigger button and press it again to reactivate Glide mode.
- If you lift up the unit and release the trigger, Glide mode will be deactivated.
Glide mode is suitable for people who already have some experience and proficiency when using the Lumilisse Hair Remover. With 36 pulses per minute (at level 1), Glide mode provides safe and fast treatment of larger areas of the body (legs, back, arms, torso). For sensitive areas, the face and for the first few times using the Lumilisse Hair Remover, you should use Precision mode.
6.5 Coverage of the treatment area

For proper coverage of the treatment area, the light pulses need to be applied to your skin in lines, from one extremity to the other, systematically continuing in successive lines. This prevents the side effects caused by overlapping of the light pulses.
The imprints left on your skin by the pressure from the application surface of the Lumilisse Hair Remover should help you to align yourself correctly to apply each new pulse, to avoid pulses overlapping or, on the other hand, to avoid the pulses being spaced too far apart. Helpful hint: Some people find it helpful to use a white eyeliner to draw a grid pattern on the body part to be depilated. Do not use any color other than pure white.
6.6 Facial depilation with the Lumilisse Hair Remover
Depilating the face needs very special attention because the skin on the face is particularly delicate and sensitive. This is why the Lumilisse Hair Remover is equipped with a special facial attachment. The special facial attachment is targeted and extremely precise, limiting the light spectrum for treatment that is appropriate for sensitive facial skin.
Safety precautions for facial depilation:
- The Lumilisse Hair Remover is only suitable for depilating the lower part of the face (cheeks, upper lip and chin).
- The Lumilisse Hair Remover is not suitable for depilating eyelashes, hair and eyebrows.
- Do not look at the area of skin being treated while the light pulses are being released. Close your eyes while the pulses are being emitted. If the bright light is uncomfortable, we suggest wearing sunglasses.
- Do not use the Lumilisse Hair Remover around the eyes.
- Do not shave the different areas of the face before use.
- You must use the special facial attachment to depilate the face using the Lumilisse Hair Remover.

- The Lumilisse Hair Remover is not suitable for treating men's beards.
- For your comfort and safety, we recommend that you have someone help you use the Lumilisse Hair Remover on your face for the first few sessions, once they have familiarized themselves with the instruction manual.
• NOTE: The Glide mode is not available for facial depilation. - You must wait 5 seconds between each pulse of light when using the device on the face. Any facial depilation session with the Lumilisse Hair Remover must not last any longer than 10 minutes.
Positioning the special facial attachment
To fit or remove the facial attachment, the device must be switched off and unplugged. Gently grasp the facial attachment between the thumb and index finger to fit or remove it.
NOTE: Remove the facial attachment and place the body attachment on the Lumilisse Hair Remover appliance to treat legs, back and arms.
WARNING: Hot surfaces. Do not touch the application surface of the facial attachment with your fingers.
NOTE: The Lumilisse Hair Remover has a system to protect your eyes, a contact sensor that prevents the unit from releasing a pulse if its application surface is not in full contact with your skin. If the unit is not in full contact with your skin, it will not release a pulse of light. Make sure, therefore, that the application window touches your skin on all sides so that the safety contact sensors are touching your skin on all sides around the flash lens.
7. After using the Lumilisse Hair Remover
NOTE: The Lumilisse Hair Remover will turn off automatically if you do not use the device for more than 10 minutes. The ON/OFF button is now orange. To use the Lumilisse Hair Remover again, you have to press the ON/OFF button and select the required level of intensity again.
7.1 Switching off the Lumilisse Hair Remover
At the end of your depilation session, switch off the Lumilisse Hair Remover by pressing the ON/OFF button.
Unplug the adapter from the power outlet.
Storage: When not in use, your device should be disconnected and stored in a safe, dry location out of the reach of children.
7.2 Cleaning
We recommend that you clean the Lumilisse Hair Remover, especially the application window, before every depilation session. Do not clean after use because the unit may be hot.
• Unplug the Lumilisse Hair Remover before cleaning.
- Gently clean the casing of the Lumilisse Hair Remover and especially the application surface, using a clean, dry cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals.
• After cleaning, store the Lumilisse Hair Remover in its original box in a dry, safe place.
- Never immerse your Lumilisse Hair Remover, or any of its parts in water.
7.3 Caring for the skin following an epilation session with the Lumilisse Hair Remover
20 21

Avoid exposing the treated areas to sun. Protect your skin with a sunscreen throughout the treatment and for at least two weeks after the last session with your Lumilisse Hair Remover. Do not use scented cream or deodorant on the treated areas after your sessions.

Side effects and complications
Some users may notice a change in pigmentation following a treatment with the Lumilisse Hair Remover. These effects, if they appear, are generally slight and temporary. If you experience complications, stop using the appliance immediately and contact your healthcare provider.
8. Lifespan of your Lumilisse Hair Remover
8.1 Lifespan
With an exceptionally long life, the Lumilisse Hair Remover flash lamp releases all its light pulses without a decline in energy.
When the unit is at the end of its life, the ON/OFF indicator light will flash orange. The unit is now permanently disabled.

Do not use the unit if large stains appear inside the flash lamp or if the application surface is broken. Contact Conair Customer Service.
9. Troubleshooting
9.1 My Lumilisse Hair Remover won't start
Ensure the adapter is properly connected to your Lumilisse Hair Remover and plugged into a wall outlet.
9.2 There are no pulses when I press the release mechanism
Ensure that the application surface is evenly and firmly in contact with your skin and that the Ready indicator light is flashing; this indicator light guarantees that the unit is in full contact with your skin. For your safety, the release switch will be able to release a pulse only if the application surface is firmly pressed against your skin.
- Make sure the Ready light is lit.
- If after 10 seconds the Ready light is still off, switch your Lumilisse Hair Remover off and on again by pressing the ON/OFF button twice.
• If the problem persists, contact Conair customer service.
■ Make sure the ON indicator light is lit.
- If it is lit, switch your Lumilisse Hair Remover off and on again by pressing the ON/OFF button.
• If the problem persists, contact Conair Customer Service.
The ON/OFF indicator light is orange.
- The unit has switched to the safety mode because it has detected that it is overheated or there is a critical problem. Under circumstances like these, switch the unit off and allow it to cool for 15 minutes before switching it on again.
- If the problem persists, contact Conair Customer Service.
■ The ON/OFF indicat or light flashes in orange.
- The adapter being used to connect your Lumilisse Hair Remover to the wall outlet is not the one supplied with your unit, is defective, or the unit has reached the end of its life (after approximately 300,000 fl ashes).
- Check to make sure the adapter you are using is the one that was supplied with the unit. If the problem persists, contact Conair Customer Service.

11. FAQ
- Is the Lumilisse Hair Remover truly effective?
Yes. Clinical tests have proven that the Lumilisse Hair Remover achieves long-lasting results.
- On what parts of the body can I use the Lumilisse Hair Remover?
The Lumilisse Hair Remover has been designed for removal of body hair below the cheekbones. The areas most commonly treated with the Lumilisse Hair Remover are the legs, underarms, arms, and the bikini line. With the facial attachment, you can also treat the lower part of the face.
- How long is a depilation session with the Lumilisse Hair Remover?
See Chapter 5.3 about the approximate duration of the session.
- Is the Lumilisse Hair Remover safe?
Your safety is our first priority. When we designed the Lumilisse Hair Remover, very strict standards were followed when testing and approving it for use at home. But as with any electronic unit that comes in contact with the skin, the user must follow the instructions and strictly adhere to the safety protocols.
- Are treatments using the Lumilisse Hair Remover painful?
When used properly, most Lumilisse Hair Remover users report a slight heat sensation when the unit pulses. Users with darker and thicker hair sense a little more discomfort. But these sensations ease and disappear at the end of the session.
- How often should I use the Lumilisse Hair Remover?
he first 4 sessions with the Lumilisse Hair Remover should be 2 weeks apart. The next sessions should be 4 weeks apart until you achieve the desired results.
- Is the Lumilisse Hair Remover effective on white, gray, or blond hair?
The Lumilisse Hair Remover is most effective on dark hair or on those containing more melanin. Melanin, the pigment that gives color to skin and hair, absorbs optical energy. Black and dark brown hair respond best to the treatment. Brown and light brown hair also respond, but these will need a few more sessions. Red hair may respond partially to the treatment. Generally, white, gray, or blond hair does not respond to the treatment, but some users have noticed results after several depilation sessions.
- Can I use the Lumilisse Hair Remover on brown or black skin?
Do not use the Lumilisse Hair Remover on dark skin! The Lumilisse Hair Remover eliminates hair by targeting the follicular pigment. Pigments are also found in varying quantities in the surrounding dermal tissues. The quantity of pigments in a person's dermis, visible through the color of the skin, defines the level of risk to which he or she is exposed by using the Lumilisse Hair Remover. Treating dark skin with the Lumilisse Hair Remover may involve risks like burns, blisters and changes in skin color (hyper- or hypopigmentation). Please consult the table showing the different phototypes and follow the usage recommendations in this section (Section 5.2 / Page 12).
- When will I see the first results with the Lumilisse Hair Remover?
Like all other photo-epilation methods, the results are not immediate; you may even have the impression that nothing is happening. The hair will sometimes appear to continue growing after a session, but after two weeks, most of this hair will simply fall
out. This is why you will need to have several sessions before achieving the expected results.
10. Can men use the Lumilisse Hair Remover?
The Lumilisse Hair Remover can be used by men. However, men's hair, especially chest hair, will require more sessions to achieve the desired results.
11. Why does hair grow back in the area that I treated last week?
It is quite common for hair to appear to continue to grow for one to two weeks after a depilation session with the Lumilisse Hair Remover. This process is known as "ejection." After two weeks, you will notice that this hair falls out or comes away from its follicle. Note that we recommend you do not pull the hair from the follicle – let it fall out naturally. Moreover, some hair will not be affected by the Lumilisse Hair Remover either because of poor application or because the hair was in its dormant phase. This hair will be treated in the following sessions, hence the need for several sessions to achieve the expected results with the Lumilisse Hair Remover.
12. I've heard that some hair grows back lighter and fi ner after photo-epilation. Is this true?
This phenomenon is well documented by beauticians and doctors who use pulsed light devices for depilation treatments. It is possible that some hair grows back lighter and finer after a Lumilisse Hair Remover session. Generally, this hair only represents a tiny part of the original hair growth; treatments should therefore be continued to achieve the desired result.
13. Is long-term use of the Lumilisse Hair Remover dangerous for my skin?
Over the last 15 years, the use of the pulsed light in aesthetic medicine has been well documented in professional journals. These journals and institutions have not reported any side effects or injuries connected with long-term use of pulsed light devices.
14. Can I use the Lumilisse Hair Remover to eliminate chin or facial hair?
Yes, but the Lumilisse Hair Remover is only recommended for areas below the cheekbones. Do not use on eyelashes or eyebrows. Do not use on men's beards.
15. How long should I wait before using the Lumilisse Hair Remover if I am not protected from the sun's rays?
You should avoid exposure to the sun before and after treatment with the Lumilisse Hair Remover no matter which part of the body has been treated. You must use suitable protection, e.g., a covering garment or a sunscreen (with a protection factor of 50+) which you should then use regularly for three weeks before and after treatment. Ideally, you should wait 4 weeks before using the Lumilisse Hair Remover if you have been exposed to the sun without protection. If you have any doubt about your skin exposure, consult your doctor.
16. What should I do before I use the Lumilisse Hair Remover?
Before each session with the Lumilisse Hair Remover, it is important that the area to be treated has not been exposed to the sun for at least 4 weeks. A sunscreen with a high protection factor (protection factor of 50+) should be used to protect the skin, as well as clothes that cover the area to be treated. The area to be treated should be washed with soap and water beforehand and then shaved clean of hair. (Shaving is fine, but do not use other methods of depilation, such as an electrical epilator or wax. NOTE: Do not shave the areas of your face that you want to treat.)
17. How do I take care of the treated area after using the Lumilisse Hair Remover?
The area treated with the Lumilisse Hair Remover may be cleaned and cared for with high-quality skincare products. Specifi c precautions should be taken to avoid unprotected exposure to the sun. Sunscreens with a higher protection factor (protection factor of 50+) and long-sleeved clothing are good protection against the sun.
18. Should I remove hair between and after treatments?
No, do not remove hair during or after treatments. The hair will fall out on its own naturally and gradually. This stage may last up to two weeks.

| a Field strengths from fixed transmitters, such as base stations for radio (cellular/ cordless) telephones and land mobile radios, amateur radios, AM and FM radio broadcasts and TV broadcasts cannot be predicted theoretically with accuracy. To assess the electromagnetic environment due to fixed RF transmitters, an electromagnetic site survey should be considered. If the measured field strength in the location in which the Lumilisse Hair Remover (IPL960F) is used exceeds the applicable RF compliance level above, the Lumilisse Hair Remover (IPL960F) should be observed to verify normal operation. If abnormal performance is observed, additional measures may be necessary, such as reorienting or relocating the Lumilisse Hair Remover (IPL960F). |
| b Over the frequency range 150 kHz to 80 MHz, field strengths should be less than 3 V/m. |
