How do I set the timer on the Crane EE-8068?

To set the timer, ensure the red switch on the dial is in the center position (HEAT + TIMER). Rotate the dial clockwise until the arrowhead points to the current time. Push the red/white segments outward for the period you want the heater ON (each segment = 15 minutes). For example, to run from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, push segments between those times outward.

What should I do if the heater overheats?

The heater has overheat protection that automatically shuts it off. If this happens, unplug the appliance and let it cool completely. Once cool, you can plug it back in and restart. Check for blockages on vents.

Can I use an extension cord with this heater?

Avoid extension cords if possible. If necessary, use a heavy-duty cord rated 125 V, at least 13 A, 1625 W. Ensure the cord is not draped over counters or where it can be tripped over.

Why does the heater emit an odor when first used?

It is normal for the heater to emit a slight odor when used for the first time or after long storage. This is due to burning off dust or manufacturing residues and will disappear after a short period of operation.

How do I clean the Crane EE-8068 heater?

Ensure the heater is unplugged and completely cool. Wipe the exterior with a damp cloth and buff dry. Do not use detergents, abrasives, or allow water to enter the heater. Never immerse in water.

What is the warranty period for this product?

How do I attach the feet to the heater?

The heater requires the feet to be attached before use. Use the provided 4 tapping screws to secure the feet to the bottom ends of the heater. Do not operate without legs attached (risk of fire).

Can I use the heater in a bathroom?

No. This heater is not intended for damp or wet locations. Never place it where it could fall into a bathtub or water container. Use only in dry indoor areas.

What does the indicator light mean?

The indicator light (below the thermostat) turns on when the heater is plugged in and switched on. It turns off when the heater is unplugged. It does not indicate heating element status.

How do I operate the heater at maximum power?

Turn the thermostat to maximum (clockwise). Turn on both rocker switches (labeled 750W each) to achieve 1500W. You can also turn on the fan switch for faster convection. The switches will illuminate when active.

1. This product is intended for indoor, non-commercial, household use for temporarily heating residential rooms. Do not use the product for any other purpose.

4. Place the product on a flat, steady, stable, heat-resistant surface.

7. Use this heater only as described in this manual. Any other use not recommended by the manufacturer may cause fire, electric shock, or personal injury.
8. Do not insert or allow foreign objects to enter any opening on the heater as this may cause an electric shock, fire, or product damage.
9. Do not use this product to dry or heat clothing, shoes, pipes, or any other item.
10. This heater is not intended for use in damp/wet locations.
11. Never locate heater where it may fall into a bathtub or other water container.
12. Do not move the product when it is heated. Allow the product to thoroughly cool before handling it.
13. Plug the product into a standard 120V AC electrical outlet.
14. Do not allow the Power Cord to hang (e.g., over the edge of a table or counter) or place/run the Power Cord under rugs, carpeting, or in high-traffic areas where it may be tripped over or pulled.
15. To disconnect the product, turn the controls to the off position, then remove the plug from the electrical outlet. Never pull on the Power Cord when disconnecting from power outlet.
16. Do not put any stress on the Power Cord where it connects to the product, as the Power Cord could fray and break.
17. Do not plug or unplug the product from the electrical outlet with wet hands.
18. Keep the Power Cord and product away from heated surfaces.
19. Do not operate any heater with a damaged cord or plug, after the heater malfunctions, or has been dropped or damaged in any manner. Return the product to a service facility for examination, electrical or mechanical adjustment, or repair.

To prevent a possible fire, do not block heat in any manner. In order to avoid overheating, do not cover the heater. Never cover the top or bottom heat vents.

CAUTION: A short Power Supply Cord is provided to reduce the risk of personal injury resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord. Extension cords are available from local hardware stores and may be used if care is exercised in their use. If an extension cord is required, special care and caution is necessary. Also the extension cord must be (1) marked with an electrical rating of 125 V and at least 13 A., 1625 W., and (2) the cord must be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or accidentally tripped over.

ELECTRIC POWER

If the electric circuit is overloaded by other appliances, your humidifier and/or appliances may not operate properly. The humidifier should be operated on a separate electrical circuit from other operating appliances.

POLARIZED PLUG

This humidifier has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). As a safety feature to reduce the risk of electrical shock, this plug is intended to fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to defeat this safety feature.

SAFETY WARNING

Although this appliance is easy to operate, for your safety, the below warnings must be followed:

1. Do not place the appliance near a heat source.
2. Never leave the appliance unattended while connected to the electrical outlet.

ASSEMBLY

CAUTION: Risk of Fire – Do Not Operate Without Legs Attached to Heater!

1. Before using the heater, attach the feet (included separately) to the unit.
2. Attach to the base of the heater using the 4 tapping screws provided, taking care to ensure that they are located correctly in the bottom ends of the heater.

OPERATION AND USE

NOTE: It is normal for the heater to emit some odor when it is turned on for the first time or after having not been used for a long period of time. This will disappear when the heater has been on a short while.

1. Choose a suitable location for the heater, taking into account the previously stated safety instructions.
2. Insert the plug of the heater into a suitable outlet.
3. Turn the thermostat knob fully in a clockwise direction to the maximum setting.
4. Turn on the heating elements by means of the rocker switches (750W, 750W) on the side of the heater. When the heating elements are on, the switches will illuminate. The heat output for each switch is 750W. For a maximum heat output of 1500W, both switches should be on.
5. When the desired room temperature has been reached, the lights on the rocker switches will turn off. The heater will keep the air temperature in the room at the set temperature by switching on and off automatically.
6. When set at minimum (fully counter-clockwise) position (depending on the size of the room) the heater will maintain the temperature above freezing.
7. You may turn on the fan to accelerate the heat convection for quick room warming.

CONVECTION HEATER FEATURES

SETTING THE TIMER

1. To use the heater in timed mode, it must be permanently connected to the power supply. If the power is disconnected, the clock will stop.
2. To operate the heater in timed mode, the red switch within the dial should be in the center position (HEAT + TIMER). If it is in the left position (HEAT ON), the heater will be permanently ON. If it is in the right position (HEAT OFF), the heater will be completely OFF.
3. The numbers around the timer dial show the time in 12-hour AM/PM sets. White numbering goes from 1:00 AM - 12:00 PM, red numbering goes from 1:00 PM - 12:00 AM. The timer is controlled by the red/white plastic segments. One single segment represents 15 minutes. Push the segment(s) away from the center of the dial for the heater to turn ON for that time period. Push the segments toward the center dial for the heater to turn OFF for that time period.
4. Rotate the dial clockwise until the arrowhead (to the left of the red switch on the dial) points to the current time.

FOR EXAMPLE: To set the timer to turn on at 1:00pm and turn off at 3:00pm, set the red switch to the center position (HEAT + TIMER). Push the red segments away between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM on the dial. Make sure the arrowhead is pointing toward the current time. The heater will automatically turn on at 1:00 PM and turn off at 3:00 PM.

INDICATOR LIGHT

This heater has an indicator light below the thermostat (see parts page) which turns on to indicate when the heater is switched on and plugged into a power outlet. When the heater is unplugged from the power source the indicator light will turn off.

OVERHEAT PROTECTION

The heater has an internal, over-heating safety device which automatically switches the heater off if an over-heat situation is detected. If this should occur, unplug the appliance and wait until the unit cools off. Once the unit has fully cooled, you can switch it on again.

MAINTENANCE

CAUTION:

Always be sure that the heater is switched OFF, unplugged and completely cooled before cleaning or attempting to store the item. Do not immerse heater in water or allow water to drip into the interior of the heater, as this could create an electric shock hazard.

CARE AND CLEANING

1. Clean the outside of the heater by wiping with a damp cloth and buff with a dry cloth.
2. DO NOT use any detergents or abrasives and do not allow any water to enter the heater.

Please Note: Regardless of the type of heating system setup, always install and maintain at least one smoke detector in good working condition on each floor of your home. Periodically check and/or replace the battery in your smoke detector with a fresh battery.

STORING

Allow the appliance to cool completely before storing. Store the appliance in a dry location. Do not place any heavy items on top of appliance during storage as this may result in possible damage of appliance. Store the cord in a clean, dry location away from metal objects. Always check the plug before use to assure metal items have not become attached.
