Intended use
The appliance is designed for heating water and making tea for domestic use only (in the kitchen, at table, in office, etc.). Other uses or modifications of the appliance are not intended and harbour considerable risks. For damage arising from not intended use, the manufacturer does not assume liability. The appliance is not designed for commercial use.

Scope of supply
Check the scope of supply for completeness as well as the soundness of the product and all components (see product description page 2) immediately after unpacking.
Packing material
Do not simply throw the packing material away but recycle it. Deliver paper, cardboard and corrugated cardboard packing to collecting facilities. Also put plastic packing material and foils into the intended collecting basins.

Please approach your local authorities for how to dispose of the product.

General safety advices
• Always children under 8 away from the product and the power cord.
- Children from the age of 8 must be supervised when cleaning or maintaining the appliance.
- Children from the age of 8 and persons not having the knowledge or experience in operating the appliance or having handicaps of physical, sensorial or mental nature must not operate the appliance without supervision or instruction by a person, responsible for their safety. Never leave the appliance unattended during operation.
- Children should be supervised in order to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
- Packing material like e. g. foil bags should be kept away from children.
- Do not operate this unit with an external timer or a separate telecontrol system.
- Prior to each use, check the appliance and the attachments for soundness. It must not be operated if it has been dropped or shows visible damage. In these cases, the power supply must be disconnected and the appliance has to be checked by a specialist.
- When laying the power cord, make sure that no one can get entangled or stumble over it in order to avoid that the appliance is pulled down accidentally.

- This electrical appliance complies with the relevant safety standards. In case of signs of damage to the appliance or the power cord, unplug the appliance immediately. Repairs may be executed by authorised specialist shops only. Improper repairs may result in considerable dangers for the user.
- Improper use and disregard of the instruction manual void all warranty claims.
Safety advices for using the appliance
WARNING: Hazard of injury and burns!

- The surfaces of appliance, glass jug, lid, lid insert, tea infuser as well as the liquids are getting hot during use and firstly stay hot after switch-off.
- Mind the hot steam coming out when removing the lid from the glass jug or the lid insert for the infuser respectively. Use e. g. a tea towel to protect your hands from scalding!
- Do not overfill the jug (observe the max. filling quantity)! Spilling and overflow during operation might cause hazard of scalding!
- The tea jug is made of glass. In case of breakage mind the sharp and pointed edges!
- Do not use a damaged tea jug!
Thus, act with caution:
- Before connecting the appliance mind to check the proper sitting of the tea jug and that the water container is filled sufficiently with water (observe the filling capacity of at least 0.5 l or max. 1.2 l).
- To avoid overflow the maximum filling capacity of 1.2 l must not be exceeded. Switch off and unplug the appliance immediately in case of spilling water!
- The central base with electrical connection must always be clean and dry. No water may be spilled on electrical connections!
- Let the appliance cool down before filling water into the water container. Only use cold tap water for this appliance.
- Do not heat other liquids like e. g. milk or similar.
- Only operate the appliance with jug lid in place. Do not remove the lid during operation.
- Do not use the appliance as a storing place and do not cover it during use.
- Observe the following when setting up the appliance:
o Place it beyond children's reach.
o Place the appliance on a heat-resistant, stable and even surface.
o Do not operate the appliance in the vicinity of sources of heat (oven, gas flame etc.) or in explosive environments, where inflammable liquids or gases are located.
o Leave a ventilation distance of at least 20 cm to all sides to avoid damage by heat or steam and to grant an unobstructed work area.
o Make sure there are no objects or furniture sensitive to heat or moisture above the appliance. Make sure steam can draw off easily! - Never operate the appliance without water.
- Do not handle the appliances with hands wet.
- For a safe switch-off pull the mains plug after each use.
Prior to initial use
- Prior to the first use it is necessary to clean the appliance and its accessories. Please refer to point "Cleaning and maintenance" for further information.
Standby mode
The appliance features a standby mode. In standby mode the display of the appliance is off.
- In case the base unit is connected to the mains and there is no further activation of any button within 1 minute, the appliance switches over to standby mode.
- When the glass jug is placed on the base unit already connected to the mains and there is no further activation of any button, the appliance switches over to standby mode and the display goes off.
- The appliance switches over to standby mode about 1 minute after the operation (incl. keep warm function) has been completed.
- Pull the mains plug after each use to ensure a safe switch off!
Selecting programme, brewing temperature, steeping times
The electronic control allows for choosing between 6 different programmes (5 tea types with pre-defined brewing temperatures/steeping times plus water kettle function with temperature selection).
The preset temperatures and steeping times can be individually adjusted to your personal taste and be memorized as well.
The table below shows the preset brewing temperatures and steeping times (default values):

Keep warm function
The appliance is equipped with a 30 minute keep warm function. This function is pursuant to the selected brewing temperature. The table below shows the temperature defaults.

Operating the appliance

WARNING: Hazard of injury and burns!
- The surfaces of appliance, glass jug, lid, lid insert, tea infuser as well as the liquids are getting hot during use.
• Hot surfaces firstly stay hot after switch-off. - Do not overfill the jug as hot liquid might spill over!
1. Connecting the base unit
- Connect the power plug to a properly fused socket.
• The appliance switches into selection-mode. - A signal tone sounds and the display shows programme 1 "Herbal".
Note: If no further button is activated within 1 minute, the appliance will switch over to standby mode and the display goes out.
2. Filling up with water and placing the cover
Note: In case the appliance is in standby mode, lifting the jug will put it into selection-mode. The display shows programme 1 "Herbal".
- Lift the glass jug from the base unit.
- Fill the glass jug with cold tap water. Observe the "MIN" and "MAX" marking. See to it that no water will spill on the central base or the underside of the jug.

- Fit the lid insert for the tea infuser in the jug's lid (position OPEN) and screw it to the right (CLOSE position).
- Put the lid on the glass jug.
- Place the glass jug on the base unit.
3. Selecting programme/function
Note: The standby mode can be switched to selection-mode by pressing any button (except BOILING button).
- The display shows programme selection 1 "Herbal".
- Choose between the different preset programs by pressing the "MENU" button.






- It is possible to switch between the display of temperature and time by pressing the "TIME/TEMP" button.
- The display will return to show the temperature after about 4 seconds.





4. Modifying brewing temperature and steeping time (if necessary)
a) Modifying the brewing temperature
o Press the "▲" or "▼" button until the desired temperature is displayed.
o The temperature can be altered in steps of 5 from 50 °C to 100 °C.
b) Modifying the steeping time
o Press the "TIME/TEMP" button to enter the time-mode. The display shows the set time.
o Press the "▲" or "▼" button until the desired time is displayed.
o The time can be varied in 30-second steps from 30 seconds up to 10 minutes.
c) Memorizing temperature or steeping time
To permanently memorize the changed parameters, press the "TIME/TEMP" button for at least
2 seconds. A signal tone will confirm the successful modification.
5. Starting the operation
- Once the desired setting has been completed, the appliance can be started by pressing the "START" button.
6. Programme sequences
Note: The tea preparation comprises 4 phases in total. The programme "Heat up" consists of phase "1" only.
Programme phase ① - heating water
Note: In case the glass jug is lifted from the base during this phase, the appliance will stop and return to selection-mode.

o The water is heated to the set temperature.
o As of 30 °C the display shows the current temperature in steps of 5 °C.
o There is a 5-times signal tone to indicate that the set temperature has been reached.
Programme phase ② - insert tea infuser
Note: In case the glass jug is lifted from the base during this phase, the appliance will stop and return to selection-mode.

o The display shows "10:00": There are 10 minutes left to insert the tea infuser and to activate the steeping time. If there is no activation, the programme gets cancelled and the appliance switches over to selection-mode. The time counts back in steps of 1 second.
o Unlock the small lid insert for the tea infuser by turning it to the left. Take it out.
o Insert the filled infuser into the opening of the jug's lid. The filling quantity of the tea infuser depends on your individual taste, the type of tea and the amount of water.
o Place the lid insert for the tea infuser into the jug's lid. Screw it to the right for locking (mind the OPEN and CLOSE marking).

Warning: Mind the hot steam coming out when removing the lid insert for the tea infuser. Use e.g. a tea towel to protect your hands from scalding!
o Press the START button to start programme phase ③ (activation of steeping time).
Programme phase ③ - activating the steeping time
Note: In case the glass jug is lifted from the base during this phase, the appliance will stop and return to selection-mode.

o Press the "START" button. A signal tone will sound and the steeping time begins.
o The display shows the remaining time counting down.
o There is a 6-times signal tone to indicate that the set steeping time has run down.
Removing the tea infuser after steeping time has run down
o Now remove the tea infuser.
o To do so, disengage the small lid insert for the tea infuser by turning it to the left. Take out the insert.
o Grip the infuser at its handle and lift it out
o Then close the lid again by inserting the lid insert again. Turn it to the right for locking (mind the OPEN and CLOSE marking).

Warning: Mind the hot steam coming out when removing the lid insert for the tea infuser. Use e.g. a tea towel to protect your hands from scalding!
Attention: Be cautious when removing the tea infuser – hot liquid might drip!
Programme phase ④ - keep warm function
Note: In case no keep warm function is required, the programme can be interrupted at any time by just pressing the "START" button for 2 seconds or unplugging the unit from the mains.
o The appliance switches over to keep warm function automatically for 30 minutes.
o The display shows the keep warm time in ascending order.

Removing the jug during the keep warm cycle
o In case the glass jug is removed during the keep warm cycle, the keep warm time will pause.

o After the glass jug was removed, the display shows "10:00". Now there are 10 minutes left to put the jug back in order to continue the keep warm cycle. If the jug is not put back, the programme will be stopped and the appliance switches over to the selection-mode. The time counts back in steps of seconds.
Mind: The keep warm function will not be continued automatically.

After the jug has been put back, the keep warm function can be continued by pressing the "START" button anew.
Once the keep warm time has run down, there is a 6-times signal tone and the appliance will switch over to standby mode.
7. Quick-start function (BOILING)

- The appliance has a quick-start button for bringing water to the boil.
• There is no preset order for this function.
o To activate the quick-start function just press the "BOILING" button.
o The appliance commences the boiling, indicated by a short signal tone.
o As of 30 °C the display shows the current temperature in steps of 5 °C. - Once the boiling has been completed, the appliance automatically switches over to selection-mode.
- The display shows the programme selection 1 "Herbal".
8. Switching off
- The running programme or function can be interrupted any time. The appliance is set in selection-mode.
- To do so, press the "START" button for 2 seconds or unplug the power plug from the mains.
• After each use pull the mains plug to ensure a safe switch off!
Cleaning and maintenance

WARNING: Hazard of injury or burns!
• Always pull the mains plug prior to cleaning!
- Never immerse base unit, glass jug, power cord and mains plug in water nor clean under running water!
- Prior to cleaning let cool down the appliance and all accessories!

Cleaning the appliance
- Clean appliance and accessories after each use.
- Wipe the base unit and glass jug with a moist cloth and dry it afterwards.
- Wash tea infuser, jug's lid and lid insert for the tea infuser in hot dishwater and dry it afterwards.
o Discolorations at the glass jug or the tea infuser can be removed by using a special brewer cleaner (for coffee makers etc.), which is obtainable in specialist shops.
o You may alternatively use a solution of water with salt, baking soda or lemon juice.
• We recommend not cleaning the accessories in the dishwasher.
- Do not use abrasives or solvents; do not use sharp, scratchy objects!
- Do not treat the appliance or the accessories with a steam jet cleaner!
Decalcification
- A regular decalcification saves energy, grants full heating power and a long lifespan of the appliance.
- A thick layer of limescale may cause an overheating of the appliance and cause irreparable damage.
- The appliance should be descaled regularly to grant a proper functioning. Depending on the water hardness and the frequency of use, we recommend a decalcification every 2 - 3 weeks. This also applies if filtered water was used.
- Observe the following instructions for decalcification!
• Always remove the tea infuser before descaling the appliance. - For decalcification prepare 1 litre descaling agent (vinegar in water) by mixing 1/3 vinegar essence with 2/3 water and pour it into the glass jug.
- Operate the appliance through the "BOILING" button and heat up the liquid to about 80 °C. Then stop heating by either pressing the "START" button for about 2 seconds or removing the jug from the base unit.
- Allow to act on for some time.
- Then drain the descaling solution, rinse the glass jug and fill it with 1 litre of clear tap water.
- Operate the appliance 1x via the "BOILING" button and bring the water to the boil. Repeat this procedure as often as required.
• Afterwards wipe the tea jug thoroughly. - In case you use ordinary descaling agents observe the manufacturer's instructions.
Important: Non-observance of the decalcification instructions will void all warranty rights in case of claims caused by a faulty functioning due to excessive limescale deposits!
