Frequently Asked Questions - HB-6PNV Sabrent

How do I install an M.2 SSD in the HB-6PNV hub?
Remove the aluminum heatsink by unscrewing the retaining screw. Insert the M.2 SSD into the M key connector at a ~15-degree angle. Secure it with the plastic fastener or rubber standoff. Reattach the heatsink after removing the protective film from the thermal pad.
What types of M.2 SSDs are supported?
The hub supports M key M.2 SSDs in both NVMe and SATA protocols, with form factors 2242, 2260, and 2280.
Can I charge my laptop through the hub?
Yes, the hub supports USB-C PD3.0 bypass charging up to 90W. Connect your laptop charger to the designated USB-C PD port on the hub.
What video output does the HDMI port support?
The HDMI 2.0 port can output up to 4K resolution at 60Hz, but requires the host device to support DisplayPort Alternate Mode.
What is the maximum data transfer speed of the USB ports?
The USB 3.0 Type-A ports support speeds up to 5 Gbps (USB 3.2 Gen 1x1), while the upstream USB-C cable supports up to 10 Gbps.
Does the hub work with any USB-C device?
It is compatible with most USB-C devices, including laptops, desktops, and tablets. For full functionality (e.g., video output), the host must support USB-C with Alt Mode and PD.
How do I know if the hub is powered on?
A blue LED on the hub illuminates when it is connected to a power source or a powered host device.
What is the purpose of the rubber fastener and screwdriver included?
The rubber fastener secures smaller M.2 SSDs (e.g., 2242) in place. The screwdriver is used to remove and reinstall the heatsink retaining screw.
Can I use the hub without installing an M.2 SSD?
Yes, the hub functions as a standard USB-C hub even without an SSD installed. All ports (USB, HDMI, Ethernet) remain operational.
What operating systems are supported?
The hub is compatible with Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems.
