1.1 Your Smartphone

This section introduces you to the hardware of the device.

1.2 Installing or uninstalling the SIM Card, Battery and Memory Card

To remove the back cover

1. Please turn over your phone with the back cover facing up.

1. Place your palm close to the back cover. Then pull the back cover with your fingertip to remove it.

SIM card

The SIM card contains your phone number, memory storage, and the details of the network service.

To insert the SIM card

Insert the SIM card. Make sure the gold contacts are facing down and the cut-off corner is facing towards the battery slot. There are two slots for two SIM cards. Upper slot is for SIM2, and SIM1slot is on the underside.

To remove the SIM card

1. Remove battery.
2. Use your finger to slide the SIM card from the card slot.

Battery

Your phone comes with a rechargeable battery. Battery life varies depending on the network, used applications, and the type of connections attached to your phone.

To install the battery

Insert the battery. Make sure the contacts of the battery are aligned with the connectors on the battery slot.

To remove the battery

Use your fingertip to lift the battery, and then, remove it.

NOTE: To ensure battery performance and avoid the risk of fire:

• Use only the original battery designated for the phone.
• Do not store the battery in temperatures below -10°C or higher than 45°C

To replace the back cover

1. Please insert the hook of the bottom of the back cover into the slot of the phone.

1. With your right and left thumbs, press the middle of the back cover.

Memory card

You will need a microSD card to store photos, music, videos, and other data.

To install the memory card

1. Insert the memory card with the gold contacts facing down.
2. Push the memory card until it clicks into place.

To remove the memory card

1. For safe removal, tap Application Drawer > Settings > SD card & phone storage > Unmount SD card.
2. Push the memory card down to eject it from the slot.

1.3 Charging the Battery

When you take your phone out of the box for the first time, the battery is only partially charged. Please charge your phone until the battery meter becomes full.

1. Connect the USB cable to the AC adapter, and then, connect to the device via the USB cable.
2. Plug the AC adapter to an outlet to start charging.

NOTE:

● The battery can also be charged when you connect your phone to the computer.
● To ensure safety, do not remove the battery from the phone while the AC adapter is connected or while it is being charged.

1.4 Turning the Phone On or Off

After installing the SIM card and charging the battery, you are now ready to turn on your phone.

To turn on your phone

Press and hold the power button until the phone vibrates.

To turn off your phone

1. Press and hold the power button for several seconds.
2. A pop-up window appears, and then, tap Power off.
3. Select OK to confirm.

To set your phone to sleep mode

To set your phone to sleep mode, press the power button briefly. It will turn the display off. To turn the display on, press the power button briefly again.

1.5 Lock / Unlock

When you turn on your phone or the display, you need to unlock the device. Slide the Lock Icon on screen to unlock the device. Slide the Sound Icon on screen to turn on / off the sound.

1.6 Notification LED

1.7 Initial Settings

Please insert your SIM card first. When you turn on your phone for the first time or you reset your phone, you need to follow the step below:

1. In the screen of Mobile Network, you can enable / disable the network of your device. If you enable it, you may be charged. You can tap "Change language" to change the default language," or tap "Done" to finish the setting.

2. Tap the Android Robot icon to begin. In this step, you can tap "Emergency dial" to make an

emergency call, or tap "Change language" to change the default language.

1. Tap "Skip" to skip the learning step, or tap "Begin" to learn how to use your phone.
2. Tap "Begin" to begin to set up your device. Then tap "Next."
3. In the screen of Set up your Google Account, you can tap "Create" to create an account, tap "Sign in" to sign in the Google account, or tap "Skip" to set up the account later.
4. In the screen of Use Google location, you can allow or disallow Google's location service to collect anonymous location data. You can also allow or disallow Google to use My Location for Google search results and other Google services. Then, tap "Next" to finish the whole initial settings.

NOTE: Some applications and functions that need to connect to the Internet such as location-based services and the automatic synchronization of your online accounts may incur the fees of the connection from your service provider. You may enable or disable the Internet later.

1.8 Using Headset

For hands-free conversation or listening to music, plug a headset to the headset jack.

NOTE:

5When using a headset, your ability to hear noises outside may be limited.

• Do not set the volume to its maximum with a headset as it may damage your hearing.
• The following instructions are only provided with the original headset of the original manufacturer:

1.9 Adjusting the Volume

To adjust the volume of ringtone, media and alarm

1. Tap Application Drawer > Settings > Sound > volume.
2. Slide the volume bar to adjust the volume. Do either of the following:
   a. Drag the slider towards the left to decrease the volume, or drag the slider towards to the right to increase the volume. Tap OK to save your settings.
   b. Tap Application Drawer > Settings > Sound > Silent mode to set the phone to the silent

mode.

NOTE: When the phone is set to the silent mode, all sounds are turned off except media and alarm.

1.10 Contacts

"Contacts" is your phonebook that lets you store names, phone numbers, e-mail addresses and other information. Contacts are stored in the phone memory.

Adding a Contact

1. Tap Application Drawer > Contacts.
2. Tap Menu > New contact, and then, the new contact window appears.
3. Tap each field to enter the contact information with the on-screen keyboard.

NOTE: To add picture, tap Picture field, and then, select a picture file.

1. Tap Done to save.

Searching for Contacts

On Contacts tab, do any of the following to easily search for contacts:

- Tap Menu > Search. Type the first few letters of the contact to search. The list is filtered as you type.

- Tap a letter in the Letter Index to view the contacts whose initial letter is the letter you select in the Letter Index. For example, if you want to view the contacts whose initial letter is M, tap M in the letter Index. Tap 📋 to go back to the list of contacts.

- If you want to categorize the contacts, tap Menu > Display options to set up the category.

Manage Accounts

1. Tap Application Drawer > Contacts.
2. Tap Menu > Accounts.
3. You can mark Background data for applications can sync, send, and receive data any time.
4. You can mark Auto-sync for applications sync data automatically.

Importing / Export Contacts Export Contacts to phone

1. Tap Application Drawer > Contacts.
2. On Contacts tab, tap Menu > Import/Export > Sim Manager.
3. Tap Menu > Export to phone. Select the contacts you want, or tap Select All to select all contacts. Then tap Export.

Import Contacts to SIM card.

1. Tap Application Drawer > Contacts.
2. On Contacts tab, tap Menu > Import/Export > Sim Manager.
3. Tap Menu > Import to SIM. You can select SIM1 or SIM2 (If SIM2 inserted.) Then tap OK.
4. Select the contacts you want, or tap Select All to select all contacts. Then tap Import.

Import Contacts from SD card

1. Tap Application Drawer > Contacts.
2. On Contacts tab, tap Menu > Import/Export > Import from SD card.

Back up Contacts

Export Contacts to SD card

1. Tap Application Drawer > Contacts.
2. On Contacts tab, tap Menu > Import/Export > Export to SD card.
3. Tap OK to confirm.

Favorite Contacts

You can add the most frequently called contacts to the favorite contact list which helps you to access the contacts quickly and easily.

Add to Favorites

1. Tap Application Drawer > Contacts.
2. On Contacts tab, tap and hold the desired contact.
3. The submenu appears, and then, tap Add to favorites.
4. When you tap the contact, you will find a golden star next to the contact's name which means the contact is in the favorites list.

Remove from Favorites

1. Tap Application Drawer > Contacts.
2. Tap Favorites tab, the favorites list is displayed.
3. Tap and hold the desired contact to display the submenu.
4. Tap Remove from favorites. The contact will be removed from the favorites list.

SIM Manager

SIM Manager is an SIM card management tool. If you don't have any contacts stored on your phone, you can export SIM contacts to your device.

1. Tap Application Drawer > SIM Manager.
2. Tap and hold the desired contact, and then, the submenu appears. Select what you want in the submenu.

1.11 The Home Screen

On Home screen, you can quickly access common features and view notifications of missed calls, received messages, battery, and the status of the connection.

You can slide the home screen from the left side to the right side or from the right side to the left side to switch it. The icons located at the bottom of the home page have different functions:

How to Navigate

Tap: You can tap the icon on the screen to activate the application.

Press and Hold: Press and hold the icon on the home screen to make it movable. Press and hold an icon in Application Drawer to add it to the home screen you want.

Slide: Slide the home screen from the left side to the right side or from the right side to the left side to change different pages.

Drag: After pressing and holding the icon on the home screen, you can arrange it. Drag it to anywhere you like on the screen or to the trash can.

Status Bar Icons

The icons of the status bar indicate different types of information. Tap the status bar and scroll down to view notifications or view system information:

Shortcut Icons

Tap shortcut icons to activate the related functions. Tap and hold a shortcut icon to move it.

To add shortcuts

You have to make sure there still has enough space for adding shortcuts.

1. On Home Screen, tap Menu > Add > Shortcuts.
2. Tap Applications to display the list of applications.
3. Tap to add the items that you want to appear on Home Screen.

To delete shortcuts

1. Tap and hold the desired shortcut icon. The icon enlarges, and Trash Can Icon appears at the bottom of Home Screen.
2. Drag the shortcut icon to Trash Can Icon to delete it.

1 Getting Started

Using Widgets

You may add and customize the Widgets on Home Screen as you like.

To add widgets

You have to make sure there still has enough space for adding widgets.

1. On Home Screen, tap Menu > Add > Widgets.
2. A list of all available widgets is displayed. To select the widget you want to appear on Home Screen.

To delete widgets

1. Tap and hold the desired widget icon. The icon enlarges, and a Trash Can Icon appears at the bottom of the Home Screen.
2. Drag the widget icon to the Trash Can Icon to delete it.

Setting the wallpaper

You can customize the wallpaper of your Home Screen with the default wallpaper or with pictures taken with your phone.

Set wallpaper from pictures

1. On Home Screen, tap Menu > Wallpaper.
2. Select a wallpaper.
3. You will see thumbnail images of all pictures.
4. Select one that you want to use as your wallpaper.
5. Tap Save and the cropped image appears as your wallpaper on Home screen.

Set wallpaper from Live wallpapers or Wallpapers

1. On Home Screen, tap Menu > Wallpaper.
2. Tap Live wallpapers or Wallpapers.
3. All system wallpapers are displayed. Tap to preview the wallpaper.
4. Tap Set wallpaper to apply your selection.

Folders

You can also add / delete folders to your Home screen. You have to make sure there still has enough space for adding folders.

1. On Home Screen, tap Menu > Add > Folders.

2. Tap to select the desired folder you want to appear on Home Screen.

3. Tap and hold the desired folder, the icon enlarges, and the Trash Can Icon appears at the bottom of the Home Screen. Drag the folder icon to the Trash Can Icon to delete it.

2. Phone Functions & Input

To open Phone screen, do any of the following:

- Tap Application Drawer > Phone.

- On any application screen, press Talk Key.

2.1 Voice Calls

Making a call

To make a call from the Phone screen

1. Open the Phone screen.

2. Use the keypad to input the phone number.

NOTE: Tap ☐ erase a wrong number. Tap and hold ☐ erase the entire number.

1. Tap or to dial. You can select SIM1 or SIM2 (If SIM2 inserted).

To make a call from Contacts

1. Tap Application Drawer > Contacts.

2. Tap the desired contact.

3. Tap Call mobile, Call work, or Call home. You can select SIM1 or SIM2 (If SIM2 inserted).

To make emergency calls

Enter the international emergency number 112, and then, tap or to dial.

If your device has entered Device Lock Mode, you have to un-lock the device before you make an emergency call.

To make international calls

1. Open the Phone screen.

2. Tap and hold 0 until the international prefix code “+” is displayed.

3. Enter the country code, area code, and the phone number.

4. Tap or to dial. You can select SIM1 or SIM2 (If SIM2 inserted).

Answering a call

When you receive an incoming call:

● The phone rings if the ring volume is turned on.

● A notification message appears on the screen.

To accept or reject an incoming call

● To accept a call, slide the Talk icon on the screen.

- To reject a call, slide the End icon on the screen.

To put a call on hold

If you are having a call conversation and there is another incoming call, tap Menu > Hold current call & Answer to put the first call on hold and answer the second call. Or, tap End current call & answer to end the first call and answer the second call.

To switch between calls

If you are having a call conversation, and there is another incoming call, tapping "Hold current call & answer" to put the first call on hold and answer the second call. Tap Menu > Swap calls to switch between calls.

To set up conference calls

1. When you are already having a call conversation, tap Menu > Add call to enter the second number you wish to call, and then, press Talk Key to dial the number.

2. When the third party answers your call, tap Menu > Merge calls to set up the conference

calls.

1. If you are having a call conversation, and there is another incoming call, you can tap Menu > Merge calls to set up the conference calls also.

NOTE: Conference call is a network service. Check with your network provider for the availability of this function.

To manage other voice call features

• Tap Menu > Speaker to activate the speakerphone, or tap Menu > Speaker again to deactivate the speakerphone.
• Tap Menu > Mute to mute the microphone, or tap Menu > Mute again to un-mute the microphone.

Ending a call

To end a call, tap Menu > End call, or press End Key to end a call.

2.2 Using On-Screen Keyboard

On-screen keyboard appears in portrait mode when an application requires text input, such as messaging, and writing e-mails. The keyboard input method is activated by the default settings.

Using on-screen keyboard

• Use the keys on the on-screen keyboard as you do on computer keyboard.
• Tap the keys to enter the characters.

Setting the Input Method

Your phone supports several text input methods, and you can select your preferred method.

1. Tap and hold the text area, the pop-up window will ask you to select the input methods. Please select Input method.

2. Select the input method you want.

Basic settings

Tap Application Drawer > Settings > Language & keyboard.

2. Text settings: set up input methods.

Guobi Alphabetic Input Method

● Sound on keypress: Phone sounds when user presses any key on the on-screen keyboard.
- Vibration on keypress: Phone vibrates when user presses any key on the on-screen keyboard.
● Keyboard types: QWERTY keyboard or Numerical keyboard.
- Space after words automatically: Turn on/off.
- Select languages: Select languages you want.
● About: Help you check the version of Guobi.

Android keyboard

● Vibrate on keypress: Phone vibrates when user presses any key on the on-screen keyboard.
● Sound on keypress: Phone sounds when user presses any key on the on-screen keyboard.
● Auto-capitalization: The first letter of sentences to be capitalized.
● Voice Input: Voice input on main keyboard, on symbols keyboard or turn off.
- Input languages: You can change input language.
- Quick fixes: Corrects commonly typed mistakes.
● Show suggestions: Display suggested words while typing.
● Auto-complete: Spacebar and punctuation insert highlighted word automatically.

2 Phone Functions & Input

User dictionary

Tap Menu > Add to add the self-defined words in the user dictionary. When you compose, you can use them. Tap and hold the self-defined word in the user dictionary to edit or delete.

Using Guobi Alphabetic Input Method

3. Email & Messaging

Use Messaging to access text and MMS messages. Use Email to send and receive e-mail messages via your Internet e-mail accounts.

3.1 Creating and sending a text message

Your phone offers several ways to create and send a new text message.

From Messaging screen

1. Tap Application Drawer > Messaging.
2. Tap New message.
3. In the "To" field, enter the recipient's phone number.
4. Type your message in the "Type to compose" field.
5. Tap Send to send your message. You can select SIM1 or SIM2 (If SIM2 inserted).

From Contacts

1. Tap Application Drawer > Contacts.
2. Tap a contact to display the contact information.
3. Tap the Text Icon
4. Compose your message.
5. Tap Send to send your message. You can select SIM1 or SIM2 (If SIM2 inserted).

From Call log

1. Tap Application Drawer > Contacts.
2. Tap the Call log tab to view all call history.
3. Tap a call from the Call log.
4. Tap Send text message.
5. Compose your message.
6. Tap Send to send your message. You can

select SIM1 or SIM2 (If SIM2 inserted).

NOTE: If you exit Messaging before sending, unsent message will be saved as a draft automatically.

Receiving and Managing Messages

When you send and receive messages from a contact, these messages are grouped as a message thread. A message thread looks like an exchanged conversation.

To reply to a text message

1. Tap Application Drawer > Messaging.
2. Tap a contact who sending a message to you.
3. Tap "Type to compose" to enter your message.
4. Tap Send to send your message. You can select SIM1 or SIM2 (If SIM2 inserted).

To forward a text message

1. Tap Application Drawer > Messaging.
2. Tap a contact who sending a message to you to view a message thread.
3. Tap and hold a message to display the message options.
4. Tap Forward.
5. In the "To" field, enter the recipient's phone number.
6. Tap Send to send your message. You can select SIM1 or SIM2 (If SIM2 inserted).

To delete all messages

1. Tap Application Drawer > Messaging.
2. Tap Menu > Delete threads.
3. Tap Delete to delete all messages.

Email & Messaging

To delete a message within a thread

1. Tap Application Drawer > Messaging.
2. Tap a contact who sending messages to you.
3. Tap and hold the message you want to delete.
4. Tap Delete message.

To copy a message text

You can use this function to copy the text from a message to a new message you are composing.

1. Tap Application Drawer > Messaging.
2. Tap the contact who sending message to you to view a message thread.
3. Tap and hold a message to display the message options.
4. Tap Copy message text.
5. Go to New Message.
6. Tap and hold "Type to compose" feild.
7. Tap Paste to paste the copied texts to your new message.
8. Tap Send to send your message. You can select SIM1 or SIM2 (If SIM2 inserted).

3.2 Multimedia Message

A Multimedia message can contain letters, an image, an audio or a video file.

Creating and sending an MMS message

Your phone offers several ways to create and send a MMS message.

From the Messaging screen

1. Tap Application Drawer > Messaging.
2. Tap New Message.
3. Tap Menu > Add subject. The message will convert to a MMS message automatically.
4. In the "To" field, enter the recipient's phone number.

5. Enter the Subject.

6. To insert a picture, video, audio etc., tap Menu > Attach.

7. To insert text, tap "Type to compose", then, enter your message with the on-screen keyboard.
8. Tap Send MMS to send your message.

From Contacts

1. Tap Application Drawer > Contacts.
2. Tap a contact.
3. Tap the text icon will get into messaging.
4. Tap Menu > Add subject to convert to MMS.
5. Tap Subject to enter the subject.
6. To insert a picture or video file, tap Menu > Attach.
7. To insert text, tap "Type to compose", and then, enter your message with the on-screen keyboard.
8. Tap Send MMS to send your message.

From the Call log

1. Tap Application Drawer > Contacts.
2. Tap a call in the list of Call log tab.
3. Tap Send text message.
4. Tap Menu > Add subject to convert to MMS.
5. Tap Subject to enter the subject.
6. To insert a picture or video file, tap Menu > Attach.
7. To insert text, tap "Type to compose", and then, enter your message with the on-screen keyboard.
8. Tap Send MMS to send your message.

3.3 Voice Message

Your phone can send Voice message.

To create a voice message

1. Tap Application Drawer > Messaging.

Email & Messaging

1. Tap New Message.
2. Tap Menu > Attach > Record audio.
3. Tap to record an audio file.
4. Tap to stop recording.
5. Tap to play your recording.
6. Tap Use this recording to next step, or tap Discard to return to recording audio again.
7. Tap Play to listen to your recording again, Tap Replace to replace the file, or tap Remove to delete your audio.
8. Enter the mobile phone number in the "To" field.
9. Enter your message in "Type to compose" field.
10. Tap Send MMS to send your message.

3.4 E-mail Accounts

Your phone can send and receive e-mails just as you do with a computer.

Setting up an Internet e-mail account

1. Tap Application Drawer > Email.
2. Enter your E-mail address and Password. Tap Next.
3. The phone will retrieve the e-mail settings automatically.

- If the e-mail settings are pre-configured, the E-mail setup wizard displays a successful message.

- If the e-mail settings are not found, Manual setup is in process automatically. You can follow the instructions to complete the settings.

1. Enter Account name and Your Name, and then, tap Done.

NOTE: The Account name is the name shown on the Email screen.

To open Email

Tap Application Drawer > Email to view your e-mails.

To select an account

1. Tap Application Drawer > Email.
2. Tap Menu > Accounts to view all e-mail accounts. If you set up two more e-mail accounts in the beginning, Account List will appear directly after you tap Application Drawer > Email.
3. Tap the e-mail account you want to access.

To configure e-mail settings

1. On your accounts screen, tap to select an e-mail account.
2. Tap Menu > Account settings to adjust the settings of your e-mail accounts.

3.5 Using E-mail

Composing and sending an E-mail

1. Tap Application Drawer > Email, and then, tap an e-mail account.
2. Tap Menu > Compose.
3. In the "To" field, enter the recipient's e-mail address.
4. Enter the Subject.
5. Compose your e-mail.
6. Tap Send to send your e-mail.

Sending an E-mail from Contacts

You can send an e-mail to a contact with an e-mail address stored in Contacts.

1. Tap Application Drawer > Contacts.
2. Tap a contact you want to email to.
3. Tap Email home, choose Email or Compose (You need to create or log in Gmail) in the submenu.

Email & Messaging

1. Enter the Subject and compose your e-mail.
2. Tap Send to send your e-mail.

Adding attachments to an e-mail message

Before sending your message, tap Menu > Add attachment, and then, select the attachment you want to attach.

Receiving e-mails

E-mails are received in your Inbox automatically when logging in e-mail account and the phone connects to wireless networks.

Reading and replying to e-mails

The Inbox displays the e-mail headers. When you open the e-mail, it shows only a part of the message, unless it is a very short message. Download the e-mail to view the complete content.

To reply or forward an e-mail

1. Open an e-mail.
2. Do any of the following:
3. Tap Reply or Reply.
4. Tap Menu > Forward. Then enter the recipient in the "To" field.
5. Compose your message.
6. Tap Send to send your e-mail.

Managing E-mail folders

To delete an e-mail

1. Tap Application Drawer > Email, and then, tap an e-mail account (if you have two more e-mail accounts).
2. Tap Inbox to view the inbox e-mails.
3. Tap and hold an e-mail to launch a submenu, and then, tap Delete to delete the e-mail.

To move between messaging accounts

If you are viewing the messaging list screen of one account and you want to view the list of another account, tap Menu > Accounts, and then, tap the account you want to view.

Customizing Account settings

You can configure the general settings of your e-mail account such as Account name, Email check frequency, and Default account, etc.

To set up your account name

1. Tap an e-mail account (if you have two more e-mail accounts).
2. Tap Menu > Account settings > Account name.
3. Tap OK to confirm.

To set up the e-mail check frequency

1. Tap an e-mail account (if you have two more e-mail accounts).
2. Tap Menu > Account settings > Email check frequency. You can set the phone to check for new e-mail every 5 minutes, every 10 minutes, every 15 minutes, every 30 minutes or every hour. You can also check Never.

To set up default account

1. Tap an e-mail account.
2. Tap Menu > Account settings > Default account to send e-mail from this account by default settings.

To delete an e-mail account

1. Tap Application Drawer > Email.
2. Tap and hold the account to launch the submenu, and then, tap Remove account.
3. Tap OK to confirm.

4. Using the Internet

4.1 Connecting to the Internet

Your phone connects to the Internet via:

Wi-Fi
● GPRS / EDGE / 3G / 3.5G

NOTE: If connect to the Internet, you may be charged. If you want to stop the connection, you need to tap Application Drawer > Settings > Wireless & networks > Mobile networks to unmark Data enabled.

Wi-Fi

Your device can connect to the detected network through Wi-Fi.

1. Tap Application Drawer > Settings > Wireless & networks.
2. Check the Wi-Fi function and turn Wi-Fi on or off.

To connect to a Wi-Fi network

1. Tap Wi-Fi settings, and then check Wi-Fi to turn Wi-Fi on. Begin to search the Wi-Fi networks.
2. Detected networks are displayed below. Tap a network connection, and then, tap Connect.
3. If you select an unsecured network, the connection is established automatically.
4. To connect to a secured connection, you will be prompted for the network key. Enter the key, and then, tap Connect. When Wi-Fi is connected, the connection icon is displayed on the status bar.

To add Wi-Fi network

1. Tap Application Drawer > Settings > Wireless & networks.
2. Tap Wi-Fi settings.
3. In Wi-Fi networks, tap Add Wi-Fi network. A new window will be displayed.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions and enter the necessary information, and then, tap Save to store settings.

To configure Wi-Fi settings

1. Tap Application Drawer > Settings > Wireless & networks.
2. Tap Wi-Fi Settings.
3. Tap Menu > Advanced.

NOTE: If you want to use static IP, enter the IP settings as required.

1. In IP settings, Enter the information for IP address, Gateway, Netmask, and DNS. Tap OK to save your settings.

Tethering & portable hotspot

Share your phone's mobile data connection via USB or as a portable Wi-Fi hotspot.

1. Tap Application Drawer > Settings > Wireless & networks.
2. Tap Tethering & portable hotspot.
3. You can turn on/off USB tethering, turn on/off Portable Wi-Fi hotspot, or adjust the portable Wi-Fi hotspot settings.

VPN settings

Set up & manage Virtual Private Networks (VPNs.)

1. Tap Application Drawer > Settings > Wireless & networks.
2. Tap VPN settings > Add VPN to add VPNs.

Manual settings for Cellular Data Network

Check the availability of these connections with your network service provider and obtain the following information:

• Access Point Name (APN)
• Proxy
• Port
• User name
• Password

To set up a wireless data connection manually

1. Tap Application Drawer > Settings > Wireless & networks.
2. Tap Mobile networks > you can select SIM1 or SIM2 (If SIM2 inserted) > GSM/UMTS Options > Access Point Names.
3. Tap Menu > New APN.
4. Enter a name for the connection, APN, Proxy, Port, Username, and Password (if available) etc., and then, tap OK.
5. Finally, tap Menu > Save to save the whole settings.

To start a data connection manually

If you set up multiple data connections, select the connection you want to use manually.

1. Tap Application Drawer > Settings > Wireless & networks > Mobile networks > you can select SIM1 or SIM2 (If SIM2 inserted) > GSM/UMTS Options > Access Point Names.
2. A list of connections will be displayed. Tap the radio button to select which you want to use.

4 Using the Internet

4.2 Bluetooth modes

Bluetooth on your phone operates in three different modes:

• On: Bluetooth is turned on. Your phone detects other Bluetooth devices, but your phone is not visible to others.
  ● Discoverable: Bluetooth is turned on and your phone is visible to other Bluetooth devices.
• Off: Bluetooth is turned off.

To turn Bluetooth on or off

1. Tap Application Drawer > Settings > Wireless & networks.
2. Tap Bluetooth settings.
3. Tap to check Bluetooth and activate.
4. To make your phone visible to others, check Discoverable to make this phone visible to other devices.

Connecting to Bluetooth Devices

A connection to a Bluetooth device is called a partnership. You need to pair and create a partnership with a Bluetooth device to exchange information.

1. Tap Application Drawer > Settings > Wireless & networks.
2. Tap Bluetooth settings to view the menu options.
3. To search for a new device, tap Scan for devices.
4. Tap a device you want to pair with.
5. Start to pair with, enter the password, and then, tap OK.

NOTE: The password you enter on your phone must be the same to be entered on the other Bluetooth device.

1. After the Bluetooth device is connected to your phone, you can use the Bluetooth device.

NOTE: Tap and hold the selected device to launch device options menu.

NOTE: Once a partnership has been created, connecting to that device again will no longer require inputting the password.

1. Tap Application Drawer > Gallery.
2. Tap one of picture folders to view the images in thumbnails.
3. Tap an image to view.
4. To view previous/next image, slide the screen from the left side to the right side / from the right side to the left side.

To play slideshow

1. While viewing an image, tap Menu > More > Slideshow.
2. Tap screen again to stop the slide show.

To set the image as Wallpaper

1. While viewing the image, tap Menu > Set as > Wallpaper.
2. Drag your finger to select the crop area.
3. Tap Save to set the image as the wallpaper.

To save image to Contact icon

1. While viewing the image, tap Menu > Set as > Contact icon.
2. Tap the contact name to add image.
3. Drag your finger to select the crop area.
4. Tap Save to save the image as the contact icon.

To edit an image

While viewing the image, to edit an image:

• To rotate image, tap Menu > Rotate > Rotate Left or Rotate Right.
• To crop, tap Menu > Crop.
• Drag your finger to select the crop area.
• Tap Save to save the image.

To view file properties

1. While viewing the image, tap Menu > More > Details.
2. The file information is displayed.

Play video from the video file

1. Tap Application Drawer > Gallery > you can select a video file.
2. Videos will be displayed, and then, tap one of them to play.

5.3 Music

You must copy your audio files to the storage card before you play music, because the music player only plays audio files saved in the storage card of your phone. Tap Application Drawer > Music.

Music Screen

- Playback screen: Displays the playback area with the playback controls.

To play music

1. Tap Application Drawer > Music.
2. In Library, tap Songs, and all songs on the phone will be displayed.
3. Tap to select the song, and then, it will play automatically.

Changing Playback options

While in Playback screen, tap Menu.

● Tap Library to go to the Library.
- Tap Party shuffle to play all songs in shuffle order.
● Tap Add to playlist to add the song to the preferred playlist
- Tap Use as ringtone or Use as ringtone2 to set this song as ringtone.
- Tap Delete to delete the song.

Creating a Playlist

Add songs to a specific playlist or create a playlist.

1. Tap Application Drawer > Music.
2. In Library, tap and hold the song you want to add. Then, tap Add to playlist in the pop-up

submenu.

1. Select the playlist you want. Or, tap New to create a new playlist. Input a name for the created playlist, and then, tap Save. The song will be added to the new playlist automatically.

To remove a music file from the playlist

1. Tap Application Drawer > Music.
2. In Library, tap and hold the song you want to delete. Then, tap Delete in the pop-up submenu.
3. Tap OK, and then, the song is deleted from the playlist.

6.1 Browser

Open the Browser to view web pages.

1. Tap Application Drawer > Browser.
2. An address bar appears on screen at the upper side, and you can type the URL there.
3. While viewing a web page, may show up. Tap it to zoom in or zoom out. You can use your fingers to zoom in or zoom out some web pages also.

Programs

To set the Home page

1. While viewing a web page, tap Menu > More > Settings > Set home page.
2. Enter the URL of the page that you want to set as your home page.
3. Tap OK to save your settings.

Managing Bookmarks

1. While viewing a web page, tap Menu > Bookmarks. You can view bookmarks, most visited web pages, and the viewing history.
2. While viewing Bookmarks, tap Menu to book last-viewed page or go to list view.

6.2 Calculator

With Calculator, you can perform basic arithmetic functions on your phone.

1. Tap Application Drawer > Calculator.

2. In Calculator screen, tap Menu to select the advanced panel or clear the history.

6.3 Calendar

Calendar helps you schedule and sound alarms for appointments, meetings, and events.

1. Tap Application Drawer > Calendar.
2. If you do not log in your e-mail account, select an account in Add an account screen. Please follow the on-screen instruction to log in your account. After log in, you can:
3. Tap Menu > Day, Week, or Month to change the displays of your events.
4. Tap > Today to go back to today's events.
5. Tap Menu > More to check more settings.

To view an event

1. Tap Application Drawer > Calendar.
2. Tap Menu > Agenda to display the scheduled events.

To add and schedule an event

1. Tap Application Drawer > Calendar.
2. Tap Menu > More > New event.
3. Enter the details of the event.
4. Select the dates in the fields of From and To. Or check All day when there's an all-day event.
5. To set up the repetition, select the repetition

from the list.

1. To set up a reminder, select the time from the list.

2. When finished, tap Done to return to the calendar.

NOTE: The added and scheduled events will be showed in the status bar.

6.4 Gmail

Gmail is Google's web-based email service. Gmail can be configured when you set up your phone at the first time. Depending on your settings of the synchronization, Gmail on your phone may be synchronized with your Gmail account on the web automatically.

1. Tap Application Drawer > Gmail.
2. If you do not log in your Google Account, tap Next in the screen of Add a Google Account. Tap "Create" to create an account, or tap "Sign in" to sign in the Google account. Please follow the on-screen instruction to log in.
3. Once logged in, you can begin reading and sending emails from your Gmail account.

6.5 Maps

Google's mapping service help you search for the places you want.

NOTE: If you connect to the Internet and turn on the GPS, you may be charged.

To open Map

1. Tap Application Drawer > Maps.
2. Do any of the following:
3. Check place: Tap to check the information of the place.
4. Check layers: Tap, and then, you can select different layers and functions.
   ● My location: Tap to go back to my location.
5. To search for a place you want: Tap Menu > Search, and then, type in a keyword to begin to search.
6. To get the direction: Tap Menu > Directions. Input your start point and your destination, and then, Maps will direct you to attend the destination. You can select Car, Bus, or Walk

6.6 Latitude

You can share your location with your friends and view your friends' locations on the map.

NOTE: Google's GPS positioning might occur some inaccuracy, which depends on the surroundings and weather status.

Log in Latitude

1. Tap Application Drawer > Latitude. Or, you can tap Menu > Joint Latitude on Maps.
2. If you do not log in your Google Account, tap Next in the screen of Add a Google Account. Tap "Create" to create an account, or tap "Sign in" to sign in the Google account. Please follow the on-screen instruction to log in.
3. Once logged in, tap your account to change your photo, send location to others, or edit privacy settings.

Add your friends

1. Tap Application Drawer > Latitude.
2. Tap Menu > Add friends, and then, follow the on-screen instructions.

6.7 Places

Use Google maps to search places that you want to find near your current location and the details about the location you select displays on the screen.

NOTE: If you connect to the Internet and turn on the GPS, you may be charged.

1. Tap Application Drawer > Places, or tap when you use Google maps.
2. To search: Enter the places you want in Find places filed, or tap a category in the list.
3. The system will display the locations you want, tap one of them to check the detailed information.
4. Tap the star at the upper-right corner of the screen to add it to Maps. Help you find the place quickly. Tap to go back to Maps. Tap to get the direction. Tap to dial the phone number. Tap to select other service.

6.8 Navigation

Navigation is an Internet-connected GPS navigation system with voice guidance. Help you get the destination. Tap Application Drawer > Navigation.

NOTE: If you connect to the Internet and turn on the GPS, you may be charged.

NOTE: In some locations and regions, Navigation may be not available.

6.9 Google Search

Search for the information in the Internet and on the phone. Tap Application Drawer > Google

Search.

Add the searchable items in your device

1. Tap Application Drawer > Google Search.
2. Tap Menu > Search settings > Searchable items. Choose what to search on the phone.

6.10 Voice Search

1. Tap Application Drawer > Voice Search. At the first time, tap Speak now to speak what you want to be searched.
2. After get your voice message, begin to recognize. If the system can not recognize, tap Speak again to try again, or tap Cancel.
3. In the screen of Voice Search, tap Menu > Settings. You can select the Language, adjust SafeSearch, check to hide Block offensive words, or check to show hints.

6.11 Talk

Talk is Google's instant messaging program.

To sign in Talk

1. Tap Application Drawer > Talk.

2. If you do not log in your Google Account, tap Next in the screen of Add a Google Account. Tap "Create" to create an account, or tap "Sign in" to sign in the Google account. Please follow the on-screen instruction to log in.

3. Once logged in, you can begin using Talk and do any of the following:

To Play YouTube

1. Tap Application Drawer > YouTube.
2. Videos are grouped into categories, tap Menu > Browse. Tap a category to watch the available videos.
3. Tap a video to play.

To upload your video

1. Tap Application Drawer > YouTube.

2. Tap

3. Tap to record video. Tap to stop. Input the title and details for the video, and then, tap Upload to upload the video.

NOTE: Before you upload the video, please sign in to your YouTube or Google account.

6.13 Market

Android Market allows you to find and download applications and fun games to your phone.

1. Tap Application Drawer > Market.
2. If you do not log in your Google Account, tap Next in the screen of Add a Google Account. Tap "Create" to create an account, or tap "Sign in" to sign in the Google account. Please follow the on-screen instruction to log in.
3. Once logged in, you can search and download programs from the market. Tap Apps to view

the list of available applications, and tap Games to view the list of available games. You can also tap My apps to view what you have downloaded.

6.14 Weather

Weather can give you more convenient way in checking your daily weather forecast status. Tap Application Drawer > Weather.

1. Add a city: Tap Menu > Add City. In the search bar, input the city you want. Or, you can tap the city you want in the city list, and then, back to Weather. You can slide the screen upwards or downwards to switch the weather of the city.

2. Arrange cities: Tap Menu > Arrange. Tap and hold the city you want to move to the position you want.

3. Remove a city: Tap Menu > Remove City.

4. Select a background: Tap Menu > Background. You can select Default, Map or Map-satellite.

5. Select the degree unit: Tap Menu > Degree Unit. You can select Celsius and Fahrenheit.

6. More information: Tap Menu > More. It includes Update Frequency, Update Notification, Demo, and About.

7. If you want to update the weather manually, please tap the little circle on the right-bottom of each city page.

6.15 News and Weather

News and Weather will show the weather and news of your city automatically.

1. Tap Application Drawer > News and Weather. Slide the screen to switch between the pages of weather and news.

2. Tap Menu > Refresh to update the information.

3. Tap Menu > Settings. You can adjust the settings of the weather and news.

6.16 People

This application could perfectly integrate your friends' social networking services.

1. Tap Application Drawer > People.
2. Tap Next to move on.
3. After read End User License Agreement, tap Agree to move on.
4. Input your personal information, and then, tap OK to move on.
5. Select your friends from the contact list, or tap All to include all. When finish, tap OK to move on.
6. Log in your social networking services. Once logged in, the icon of the social networking services will change the colors.

6.17 Best Choice

For easy to use, we recommend you the best software and functionality. With this function, you can find the web links to the services you need easily.

1. Tap Application Drawer > Best Choice.
2. Click the desired function, and then, download it online.

6.18 FM Radio

You can listen to music/news on the FM Radio. Before use, please insert the headset.

1. Tap Application Drawer > FM Radio.
2. Tap launch Channel List.
3. Tap to switch voice source between your headset and speaker.
4. Tap save to the new station.
5. Tap or slide to search the FM stations, tap or to go to the available FM stations or tap or to line tune the

radio frequency.

6.19 Sound Recorder

To Record a voice note

1. Tap Application Drawer > Sound Recorder.
2. In the recording screen, tap ☐ to record a voice note. Tap ☐ to stop the recording. Tap ▶ to play the recording.
3. Tap Use this recording to save the voice note. Or, tap Discard to exit.

To play a voice note

After recorded, the recording is stored in the memory card. Please use Music to play it.

1. Tap Application Drawer > Music > Playlist > My recordings.
2. Displays the list of the voice note, and then, tap the voice note you want, and then play it.

6.20 File Manager

File manager helps you manage the files in your phone and in your SD card.

1. Tap Application Drawer > File Manager.
2. Tap the folder list, and then, tap the folder you want to browse.

6.21 Android Manager

You can use Android Manager on your PC to synchronize data in your device. Please download Android Manager from Gsmart's official website and install it in your PC.

NOTE: Only Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 (32/64 bit) support the function.

Synchronization Procedure

1. Connect your device to your PC with the USB cable.
2. After you connect your device to your PC with a USB cable, USB Manager will pop up. Tap PC Sync on your phone.
3. Android Manager will synchronize with your phone automatically.
4. Android Manager's connection status:

Use Android Manager on your PC

Contacts: Allows you to back up contacts, as well as organize your contacts.

Messages: Allows you to edit and send messages.

Music: Allows you to add, to delete, to edit and to play music.

Application: Allows you to manage the downloaded applications.

Files: Allows you to organize and to manage files in both of your PC and your device.

Sync: Allows you to synchronize the following items: Contacts, Calendar, Camera, Camcorder, and Folders. Conflict resolutions include Skip this item, Computer overwrite handset, and Handset overwrite computer. Finally, tap to synchronize the selected items between your PC and your device.

6.22 USB Manager

There are 4 modes of USB Manager after your device connecting to PC with the USB cable:

1. Data Storage: Insert the memory card, and then, tap Data Storage on your phone. Your PC will pop-up a message to ask if you want to use data storage. It can help you save the files.

2. PC Sync: Tap PC Sync on your phone, your device will connect and access Android Manager. Android Manager on your PC will synchronize with your device.

3. Data Card: Tap Data Card on your phone, you can use your phone as a modem.
4. Charge Only: Tap Charge Only on your phone to start charging.

6.23 Install USB Driver

1. Connect your device with PC by the USB cable, and then, your PC will pop-up a message. Select "Open folder to view files."
2. Tap the "Setup.exe" in the USB Driver Installer folder in your PC.
3. Pop up the installing windows of GSmart Driver. Wait for a few seconds for the process, then tap "Done" to have the process completed.

NOTE: Only Windows XP Service Pack 3 and higher versions support the installation.

Date and Time

You can set up the date and the time on your phone.

To set up the date and time

1. Tap Application Drawer > Settings > Date & time.
2. If you check Automatic, the system will get the information of the current date and time automatically. You can set up the date and the time manually also.
3. Tap Set date. Please use + or – to adjust the month, the day, and the year. Tap Set to save the settings.
4. Tap Select the time zone to select a time zone from the list.
5. Tap Set Time. Please use + or - to adjust the hour and the minute. You can switch AM/PM. Tap Set to save the settings.
6. Check Use 24-hour format or not.
7. Tap Select date format to select the date format you want.

Setting Alarms

You can set up many alarms on your phone.

To set the alarm

1. Tap Application Drawer > Clock.
2. On Alarm clock tab, tap to select from the existing settings of alarm clock, or tap Add alarm to set up a new alarm.
3. Please use + or – to adjust the hour and the minute. You can switch AM/PM. Tap Set to save the settings.
4. Tap Repeat to select a day to sound the alarm. Tap OK to save the settings.
5. Tap Ringtone to set up the preferred ringtone when your alarm sounds. Tap OK to save the settings.
6. Tap Vibrate to enable/disable the vibration when the alarm sounds.
7. Tap Label to enter the description for the alarm.
8. Tap Done to save the settings of the alarm.

Activate an alarm

Tap an alarm to activate it and the icon will turn to

green.

To turn off the backlight when the phone is idle

1. Tap Application Drawer > Settings > Display > Screen timeout.
2. Select from the list of screen timeout. Your setting is saved automatically.

To adjust the brightness

1. Tap Application Drawer > Settings > Display > Brightness.
2. Drag the slider of brightness to adjust the brightness.
3. Drag the slider of brightness to the left to decrease the brightness, or to the right to increase the brightness. Tap OK to finish.

To change the screen orientation

1. Tap Application Drawer > Settings > Display.
2. Check Auto-rotate screen to adjust the screen automatically.

To display the screen when your device is charging

1. Tap Application Drawer > Settings > Applications > Development.
2. Check Stay awake to display the screen when your device is charging.

To change the ringtone of an incoming call

1. Tap Application Drawer > Settings > Sound.
2. On Incoming calls tab, tap Phone ringtone(SIM1 or SIM2)
3. Select a ringtone from the list.
4. Tap OK to finish.

To change ringtones of events

1. Tap Application Drawer > Settings > Sound.
2. On Notifications tab, tap Notification ringtone.
3. Select a ringtone from the list.
4. Tap OK to finish.

7.3 Protecting Your Phone

You can protect your phone from unauthorized users by requiring the PIN or entering a password.

Enable the PIN of the SIM/RUIM card

When the PIN is enabled, you are required to enter the PIN before making a call.

1. Tap Application Drawer > Settings > Location & security > Set up SIM/RUIM card lock.
2. Select SIM/RUIM 1 or SIM/RUIM 2 (If SIM2 inserted.)
3. Check Lock SIM/RUIM card. Input the PIN, and then, tap OK.

Enable the PIN of the SIM/RUIM card

1. Tap Application Drawer > Settings > Location & security > Set up SIM/RUIM card lock.
2. Select SIM/RUIM 1 or SIM/RUIM 2 (If SIM2 inserted.)

1. Tap Change SIM/RUIM PIN. Type the old PIN. Then tap OK.
2. Type the new PIN. Then tap OK.
3. Re-type the new PIN. Then tap OK to change the PIN.

Set up Password Protection

1. Tap Application Drawer > Settings > Location & security > Set up screen lock > Password.
2. Choose your password, and then, tap Continue. Confirm your password, and then, tap OK.
3. If you want to stop the function, please tap Application Drawer > Settings > Location & security > Change screen lock. Confirm your password, and then, tap Continue. Tap None to stop the function.

Set up unlock pattern

You can further secure your data by locking the screen and requiring a screen unlock pattern every time after your phone is turned on or it wakes up from the sleep mode every time (screen is off).

1. Tap Application Drawer > Settings > Location & security > Set up screen lock > Pattern.
2. Read the information on the screen, and then, tap Next. Study the example pattern on the screen, and then, tap Next.
3. Draw the unlock pattern by connecting at least four dots. Then tap Continue.
4. Draw the unlock pattern again, and then, tap Confirm.
5. If you want to stop the function, please tap Application Drawer > Settings > Location & security > Change screen lock. Confirm the saved pattern, and then, tap None to stop the function.

7.4 Resetting Your Phone

With Clean Boot, you can reset your phone to its factory defaults. When you reset your phone, the

data stored in your phone may be erased.

1. Tap Application Drawer > Settings > Privacy.
2. Tap Factory data reset > Reset phone > Erase everything to reset the phone.

NOTE: Before you reset your device, please back up the data and information.
