Frequently Asked Questions - MiVue C545 MIO

How do I insert a memory card into the MiVue C545?
Hold the MicroSD card by the edges and gently insert it into the slot until it clicks. Do not apply pressure to the center. To remove, push the top edge inward to release.
How do I format the memory card?
Go to Format in the system settings and confirm. Formatting erases all data and is recommended before first use to avoid malfunctions.
How to mount the dashcam in a vehicle?
Clean the windshield with alcohol, attach the static cling film, then mount the suction cup mount over it. Route the cable through the headliner and A-pillar, avoiding airbags. Adjust the camera so the ground-to-sky ratio is about 50/50.
How does continuous recording work?
The dashcam starts recording automatically when powered on. Recordings are saved in the 'Normal' category. When the memory card is full, the oldest continuous recordings are overwritten.
What is event recording and how is it triggered?
Event recording is triggered by the G-sensor upon sudden impact, high speed, or aggressive turns. It saves footage from a few seconds before and after the event. You can also manually press the Event button to start an event recording.
How to enable and use parking mode?
Enable parking mode in settings. Smart Mode uses motion and G-sensor (requires Mio SmartBox for power). Passive Mode uses internal battery (up to 48 hours). The system enters parking mode automatically when the car stops moving for about 5 minutes.
How to update safety camera data?
Visit the Mio website for available updates. Download and follow the instructions to update the safety camera database on your dashcam.
How to play back videos on the dashcam?
Press the menu button, select File Playback, choose the category (Normal, Event, Parking, Photo), then select a file. Use the arrow keys to navigate and press to play. You can delete files during playback.
How to use MiVue Manager on a computer?
Download MiVue Manager from the Mio support site. Install on Windows or Mac. Remove the memory card from the dashcam, insert into a card reader, and open MiVue Manager to view and manage recordings.
What are the care and safety precautions?
Keep the device away from moisture and extreme temperatures. Clean with a soft, lint-free cloth. Use only the specified charger (5V DC, 2A). Do not disassemble or modify. The internal battery is non-replaceable; dispose of properly.

Using your dashcam in a vehicle

Precautions and notices

  • Do not operate the device while driving. Using this product does not change the requirement for a driver to take full responsibility for his or her behaviour. This responsibility includes observing all traffic rules and regulations in order to avoid accidents, personal injuries or property damage.
  • A window mount is needed when using the dashcam in a car. Make sure that you place the dashcam in an appropriate place, so as not to obstruct the driver's view or deployment of airbags.
  • Make sure that no object is blocking the camera lens and no reflective material is placed near the lens. Please keep the lens clean.
  • If the car's windscreen is tinted with a coating, it may impact the recording quality.
  • To ensure the highest quality recordings, you are advised to place the dashcam near the rear view mirror.
  • Select an appropriate location for mounting the device in a vehicle. Never place the device where the driver's field of vision is blocked.
  • If the car's windscreen is tinted with a reflective coating, it may be athermic and impact the GPS reception. In this instance, please mount your device in a “clear area”.
  • The system will automatically calibrate the G-sensor of the device during startup. To avoid G-sensor malfunction, always turn the device on AFTER you mount it in the vehicle properly.

Mounting the dashcam

Make sure your car is parked on level ground. Follow the instructions below to mount your dashcam in a vehicle securely.

  • Before attaching the device mount to the windscreen, it is recommended to clean the windscreen with rubbing alcohol and make sure that the installation area is free of dust, oil and grease.
  • Attach the static cling film to the windscreen then install the mount over the static cling film.

  • Route the cable through the top ceiling and the A-pillar so that it does not interfere with driving. Make sure that the cable installation does not interfere with the vehicle's airbags or other safety features.
  • When adjusting the angle of mounting, make sure that the camera's view is parallel with the level ground, and the ground to sky ratio is close to a 50/50 split.
  • The placement of the device and cables may vary depending on the vehicle model. If you encounter any problems during installation, contact a skilled installer (such as the service personnel of the vehicle) for assistance.

Parking mode

MIO MiVue C545 - Parking mode - 1

This feature is not available on all models.

Your dashcam supports the parking recording function. Parking mode is disabled by default. Before enabling Parking mode, please check the memory storage allocation of your device. Select ➕ System > Storage Allocation to set a proper allocation for parking recording. Changing the allocation will erase the memory card, so save any videos or photos to your computer first.

You can enable the function by selecting ➕ Parking Mode > Parking Mode > Smart Mode or Passive Powered Mode.

- Smart Mode: Supports recordings that are triggered by the G-sensor and motion detection. Smart parking mode is activated automatically after ignition key is in off position or when the car stops moving for about 5 minutes, depending on Auto Entry settings.

For this mode, you must use an additional power source such as Mio SmartBox uninterruptible power cable which is sold separately.

The display is turned off while operating under this mode, press any of the function buttons to activate the display.

- Passive Powered Mode: Supports recordings after G-sensor detections are triggered. When Passive Powered Mode is enabled, the system will enter Parking mode after the device is powered off.

In this mode, the device is powered by the internal battery* and should last up to 48 hours. It may be shorter depending on the amount of triggers and temperature. While the dashcam is recording, press any of the function buttons to activate the screen. The dashcam will power off again once recording is complete.

* Except for MiVue C588T which requires the Mio SmartBox to operate under this mode.

The parking recording will save the duration from several seconds before until several seconds after an event. The parking recording can last longer if the sensor is triggered again during recording. When your memory card fills up with parking recordings, it will record over the oldest existing files in this category.

To exit Parking mode and resume continuous recording, press movements were detected and recorded during Parking mode monitoring, you will be asked to playback the video when you exit Parking mode.
