Frequently Asked Questions - 95960 TORNADO

What is the Tornado 95960 vacuum suitable for?
The Tornado 95960 is a heavy-duty industrial vacuum designed for simultaneous wet and dry pickup. It handles a wide range of materials including fine powders, metal shavings, water, and medium-weight oils.
How do I assemble the unit?
Attach the blower motors to the Jumbo cover by turning clockwise. Install the external filter support rods into the cover, then attach the external filters by securing the inlet collars onto the exhaust nozzles. Lock the hose adaptor in place and place the cover assembly onto a 55-gallon drum.
Can I use extension cords?
Yes, but they must be at least 12/3 gauge and no longer than 50 feet to ensure proper operation and safety.
How do I maintain the motor brushes?
Inspect carbon brushes after the first 200 hours of use and regularly thereafter. Replace them if they are worn to less than 1/4 inch in length. To inspect, unplug the unit, remove the top cover screws, and pull back the U-clip to release the brushes.
What should I do if the vacuum loses suction?
Check for clogged or collapsed hoses, blocked motor intake, a defective drum seal, or overly heavy material. Also inspect the external filters and clean or empty them if necessary.
How do I clean the external filters?
After each use, remove the filters by detaching the bottom clamp and empty them. This ensures maximum operating efficiency and prolongs filter life.
Is the unit grounded?
Yes, the Tornado 95960 must be grounded to reduce the risk of electric shock. It comes with a grounding plug and cord. Always plug into a properly grounded outlet per local codes.
What type of hoses can I use?
The unit accommodates hoses from 1.5″ to 3″ in diameter. The dual model includes a 2″ adaptor. For best performance, use the recommended hose size for each model.
