Frequently Asked Questions - SS250 Control TASCAM

How do I install SS250 Control on my device?
Download the app from the App Store (iOS), Google Play (Android), or the TEAC Global Site (Windows/Mac). For Windows, run the installer and follow the prompts. For Mac, open the .dmg file and run the .pkg installer. Accept the license agreement and choose installation options.
What do I need to connect SS250 Control to my unit?
Ensure the SS-CDR250N/SS-R250N unit is powered on and connected to the same router as your device via LAN cable. Obtain the unit's IP address and IP password from the NETWORK 1 menu. Launch SS250 Control, select the unit from the list, and enter the IP password to login.
Can I control multiple SS-CDR250N/SS-R250N units at the same time?
No, the app can only control one unit at a time. All units on the same subnet appear on the login screen, but you must select and login to one unit to operate it.
Why is my unit not appearing on the login screen?
Check that the unit is powered on and connected to the same router. If the remote power control function is OFF, a powered-off unit will not appear. Also, ensure both device and unit are on the same subnet. Tap the reload button to refresh the list.
What is Admin mode and how do I use it?
Admin mode allows remote power management (on/off, restart) of the unit. On the login screen, swipe the key icon left to enable Admin mode. Set an app password the first time. Then enter the unit's administrator password (from NETWORK 2 menu) to access power controls.
Can I use SS250 Control and the unit's front panel simultaneously?
Yes, but certain screens (BROWSE, PLAYLISTS, TIMER EVENT) cannot be edited simultaneously. If the unit's screen is being edited, the app will show a lock icon and allow viewing only.
How do I create a timer event?
Go to the TIMER EVENT screen. Tap the + button to create a new event. Set the execution days, time, repeat count, event type (play, record, stop, download), and select a file or input source as needed. Tap Save to apply.
What should I do if I forget the IP or admin password?
The IP password can be viewed on the unit's NETWORK 1 menu. The admin password is set via NETWORK 2 menu. If you forget the admin password, you may need to reset the unit to factory defaults (see unit manual). The app password can be reset by reinstalling the app.
Does SS250 Control support all features of the SS-CDR250N/SS-R250N?
It supports most major functions: transport control, recording/playback, menu settings, browsing, playlists, timer events, and power management. Some advanced settings (e.g., detailed EQ) may not be available; these can be set directly on the unit.
How do I lock the app screen to prevent accidental touches?
On the Home screen, double-tap the lock icon (padlock) to lock the app. The icon will change to 'ON'. Double-tap again to unlock. This prevents unintended operations during use.

Working with Gatekeeper

When using Mac OS X, depending on the Gatekeeper security function setting, a warning message might appear during installation.

The solution depends on the warning message shown.

See the following explanations for details.

When the Gatekeeper setting is "Allow applications downloaded from: the Mac App Store"

The following security warning might be shown: "TASCAM_SS250 CONTROL.pkg" can't be opened because it was not downloaded from the Mac App Store."

TASCAM SS250 Control - When the Gatekeeper setting is "Allow applications downloaded from: the Mac App Store" - 1

In this case, click the "OK" button to close the message. Then, control-click (or right-click) the file and click "Open".

When the "TASCAM_SS250 CONTROL.pkg' can't be opened because it was not downloaded from the Mac App Store. Are you sure you want to open it?" security warning message appears, click the "Open" button.

TASCAM SS250 Control - When the Gatekeeper setting is "Allow applications downloaded from: the Mac App Store" - 2

This warning message might also appear when the Gatekeeper setting is something other than "Allow applications downloaded from: Mac App Store."

The following security warning might be shown: "TASCAM_SS250 CONTROL.pkg" can't be opened because it was not downloaded from the Mac App Store.

TASCAM SS250 Control - When the Gatekeeper setting is "Allow applications downloaded from: the Mac App Store" - 3

In this case, copy the file from the folder where it is to the desktop or another folder, and then open it. Alternatively, change the Gatekeeper settings to "Allow apps downloaded from: App Store and identified developers" and try opening it again.

Changing the Gatekeeper setting

The Gatekeeper setting can be changed using the "Allow apps downloaded from:" item on the "General" page of the "Security & Privacy" pane of the System Preferences.

To change this, you must click the lock icon ( ) at the bottom left and enter a password to unlock the settings.

Options Finish Change Preview A large default has been added to the next Change Default Finish After drop or stop after drop Where you have changed from: - With your own - With your own - With your own Save Perfect format change

This setting will lock again when you click the button or type command-Q to close the System Preferences or when you click "Show All" to close the open pane.

ATTENTION

Changing the Gatekeeper setting could result in security risks.

If you changed the Gatekeeper setting to decrease security (use one of the lower settings), set it back to the original setting after installing the application.
