Reading and storing the user manual

This user manual accompanies the hair volume stylist. It contains important information on start-up and handling.
Before using the hair volume styler, read the user manual carefully. This particularly applies for the safety notes. Failure to heed this user manual may result in severe injury or damage to the hair volume styler.
Store the user manual for future use. If you pass the hair volume stylister on to third parties, please be absolutely sure to include this user manual.
Explanation of symbols
The following symbols and signal words are used in this user manual, on the hair volume stylist or on the packaging.

WARNING!
This signal symbol/word designates a hazard with moderate degree of risk which may lead to death or severe injury if not avoided.

CAUTION!
This signal symbol/word designates a hazard with low risk that, if not avoided, may result in minor or moderate injury.
NOTICE!
This signal word warns against potential damages to property.

This symbol provides you with useful supplementary information on assembly or operation.

This symbol states that the hair volume styler must not be used near bath tubs, showers or other vessels containing water.

This symbol identifies electrical devices that belong to the protection class 2.
Safety
Proper use
The hair volume styler is only designed for styling wet and dry human hair. It is only intended for private use and not suitable for commercial purposes such as in a hairdresser's shop.
Only use the hair volume styler as described in this user manual. Any other use is deemed improper and may result in damage to property or even personal injury. The hair volume styler is not a children's toy.
The manufacturer or vendor accepts no liability for damage caused by improper or incorrect use.
Safety notes
WARNING!
Risk of electric shock!
A faulty electrical installation or excessive mains voltage may result in an electric shock.
- Do not use the hair volume styler if your hair is dripping wet. Dry your hair beforehand with a towel.
- Do not use the hair volume styler if you are standing on a wet floor.
- Make sure that hair or any foreign objects do not enter or block the air intake or air outlet.
- Only connect the hair volume stylister if the mains voltage of the socket corresponds to the specification on the nameplate.
- Only connect the hair volume styler to an easily accessible socket so that you can quickly disconnect the hair volume styler from the mains in the event of a fault.
- Do not operate the hair volume styler if it exhibits visible damages or the mains cord or mains plug is defective.
- If the mains cord of the hair volume styler is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its customer service team or a person with similar qualifications to avoid risks.
- Do not open the housing; instead, have a qualified professional perform the repairs. Contact a qualified workshop for this.
Liability and warranty claims are waived in the event of repairs performed by the user, improper connection of the device or incorrect operation.
- Only parts that comply with the original device data may be used for repairs. Electrical and mechanical parts, which are essential for providing protection against sources of danger, are located in this hair volume styler.
- The hair volume styler must not be operated with an external timer or separate telecontrol system.
- Do not store the hair volume styler near water.
- Pull the mains plug after use if you are using the hair volume styler in a bathroom. If water is nearby, there is a risk even if the hair volume styler has been switched off.
- As additional protection, it is recommended that you install a residual current protective device (FI/RCD) with a release current of no more than 30 mA in the bathroom power circuit. Ask your installation technician for advice.
- Do not immerse the hair volume styler, the mains cord or the mains plug in water or other liquids.
- Do not touch the mains plug with wet hands.
- Never pull the mains plug out of the socket by the mains cord; instead, always do so by taking hold of the mains plug.
- Never use the mains cord as a carrying handle.
- Keep the hair volume styler, mains plug and mains cord away from open flames and hot surfaces.
- Lay the mains cord so that it does not pose a tripping hazard.
- Do not kink the mains cord and do not lay it over sharp edges.
- Only use the hair volume styler in rooms located indoors. Never operate it in the rain.
- Never store the hair volume styler such that there is a risk of it falling in a tub or sink.
- Never reach to retrieve an electrical device if it has fallen in water. In such a case, immediately disconnect the mains plug.
- Make sure that children do not insert any objects in the hair volume styler.
- Always switch the hair volume styler off and pull the mains plug out of the socket when you are not using the hair volume styler, cleaning it or in the event of a fault.
- Do not modify the hair volume styler or mains cord in any way.
- Only use an extension cord or plug adapter that does not exceed the maximum current rating and which complies with valid safety regulations.
- Do not use the hair volume styler in a storm. In such a case, immediately disconnect the mains plug.
WARNING!
Danger for children and persons with impaired physical, sensory or mental capacities (e.g. partially disabled persons, older persons with reduced physical and mental capacities) or lack of experience and knowledge (e.g. older children).
- Keep children away from the packaging material. If children swallow or slip the plastic foil over their head, there is a risk of suffocation.
- This hair volume styler may be used by children ages eight and over as well as persons with impaired physical, sensory or mental capacities or those lacking experience and knowledge if they are supervised or have been instructed in how to safely use the hair volume styler and have understood the risks associated with operating it.
- Children must not play with the hair volume styler.
- Cleaning and user maintenance must not be performed by children unless they are under supervision.
- Keep children under eight years of age away from the hair volume styler and the connector cable.
- Do not leave the hair volume styler unattended while in use.
CAUTION!
Scalding, burn and fire hazard!
The parts of the hair volume styler become hot during use. You could burn yourself on them or they could cause a fire.
- Keep the hair volume styler away from burning objects during use.
- Do not touch the brush adapter, particularly the air outlets during operation.
- Do not place any objects like towels or magazines on the hair volume styler.
- Do not use the hair volume styler for wigs or hairpieces made of synthetic materials.
- Do not cover the air intake and air outlet during operation.
- Clean the air intake grate regularly.
- Immediately pull the mains plug if the temperature protection switch is activated and the hair volume styler has switched off.
- Do not use the hair volume styler near flammable objects.
- Immediately switch the hair volume styler off if it gets too hot.
- Make sure there is a safe distance to all flammable objects, e.g. curtains and drapes.
– Clearly advise other users of the risks!
NOTICE!
Risk of damage!
Improper handling of the hair volume styler may damage it.
- Do not place the hair volume stylist on the edge or corner of the work surface.
- Prevent the build-up of heat by setting down the hair volume styler so that the heat produced during use can disperse into the surroundings.

Never place the hair volume styler on or near hot surfaces (e.g. stovetops etc.).

Ensure that the mains cord does not come into contact with hot parts.
- Never expose the hair volume styler to high temperatures (heater etc.) or to the effects of the weather (rain etc.). Never fill the hair volume styler with liquid.
- Never attempt to clean the hair volume styler by submerging it in water and do not use a steam cleaner to clean it. Otherwise, the hair volume styler could be damaged.
- Stop using the hair volume styler if its plastic parts or the hair volume styler exhibit cracks or breaks or are deformed. Only replace damaged parts with corresponding original spare parts.
- Only use the hair volume styler with the enclosed accessories.
- Let the hair volume styler cool off completely after each use.
First use
Checking the hair volume styler and pack contents
NOTICE!
Risk of damage!
The hair volume styler can be damaged if you incautiously open the packaging with a sharp knife or other pointed objects.
- Be very careful when opening it.
- Take the hair volume styler out of the packaging.
- Check to make sure that the delivery is complete (see fig. A).
- Check whether the hair volume styler or the individual parts exhibit damages. If this is the case, do not use the hair volume styler. Contact the manufacturer at the service address specified on the warranty card.
Basic cleaning
- Remove the packaging material and all protective foils.
- Before first use, wipe the hair volume styler off with a soft, damp cloth to remove any packaging and production residue.
Operation
CAUTION!
Burn hazard!
There is a burn hazard if you use the hair volume styler without the brush adapter, for drying non-human, synthetic hair or clothing being worn on the body.
- Do not use the hair volume styler without a brush adapter.
- Do not use the hair volume styler to dry synthetic hair.
- Do not use the hair volume styler to dry clothing being worn on the body.
- Always keep sufficient distance to body parts during use.
CAUTION!
Burn hazard!
There is a burn hazard if you change the brush adapter while the hair volume styler is switched on or hot!
- Always switch the hair volume stylister off and pull the mains plug before you change the brush adapter.
- Make sure that the brush adapter is no longer hot before removing it.
Changing the brush adapter

Tip:
Adjust the size of the brush adapter used to the length of your hair. Use the volume brush for long hair and the round brush for shorter hair.
This hair volume styler includes two different brush adapters 3 and 4, which can be changed as desired. To do so, proceed as follows:
- Make sure that the mains plug has been pulled.
- Make sure that the function switch 7 is set to the 0 position (see fig. D).

Turn the locking ring 2 to the right and take the brush adapter 3 or 4 off (see fig. A and B).

Attach the desired brush adapter to the hand piece 5 (see fig. A and B).
- Turn the locking ring to the left. The brush adapter will audibly lock into place. The arrow on the hand piece is under the arrow on the locking ring (see fig. B).
You can now use the hair volume styler.
Heat settings
The following table provides an overview of the possible heat settings.

Styling your hair
- Make sure that the function switch 7 is set to the 0 position (see fig. D).
- Connect the hair volume styler to a socket.
- Turn the function switch to the desired heat setting (see table in the chapter "Heat settings").
- Separate a strand of hair from the rest of your hair.
- Place the hair tips on the brush adapter 3 or 4 (see fig. A).
- Push the "direction of rotation" switch 1 in the desired direction to wind your strand of hair onto the brush adapter (see fig. C).
- Depending on the desired intensity, hold the wound up strand of hair on the brush adapter for a brief moment.
- If necessary, use the cold air function to fix your hair; for this, turn the function switch to position C.
- To unwind the strand of hair again, push the "direction of rotation" switch in the opposite direction as you would when winding the strand of hair.
- Repeat the process for all strands of hair.
- To switch off the hair volume styler, turn the function switch to position 0.
- Pull the mains plug when you are done using the hair volume styler.
- Let the hair volume styler cool off completely.
- Clean the hair volume styler as described in the chapter "Cleaning".
Styling tips
Observe the following notes for successful styling:
- For maximum volume, first let the brush head rotate at the hairline for a few seconds.
- Use a large brush adapter 4 if you would like to increase volume (see fig. A).
- Use a smaller brush adapter 3 to curl your hair.
- To curl your hair, wind your hair around the brush adapter several times.
- Use the cold air function to fix the curls before you unwind them from the brush.
- To create waves to the inside or outside, only wind the ends of your hair around the brush adapter.
Automatic overheat protection
The hair volume styler is equipped with a built-in overheat protection. If the hair volume styler automatically switches off and cannot be switched back on again, the overheat protection may be activated. Proceed as follows:
- Set the function switch 7 to the position 0 (see fig. D).
- Pull out the mains plug.
- Let the hair volume styler cool off completely.
- Clean the air intake and air outlet 6 as described in the chapter "Cleaning" (see fig. A).
Cleaning and storage
WARNING!
Risk of electric shock!
If objects are inserted in the hair volume styler through the air intake and air outlet, the hair volume styler could be damaged. There is a risk of electric shock.
- Do not insert any objects in the hair volume styler through the air intake and air outlet.
- Clean the air intake and air outlet regularly.
- Remove hair from the brush adapter after every use.
NOTICE!
Risk of short circuit!
Water that has penetrated the housing may cause a short circuit.
- Never immerse the hair volume styler in water.
- Make sure that no water penetrates the housing.
NOTICE!
Risk of damage!
Improper handling of the hair volume styler may result in damage.
- Do not use any aggressive cleaners, brushes with metal or nylon bristles, sharp or metallic cleaning utensils such as knives, hard scrapers and the like. They could damage the surfaces.

Do not in any case place the hair volume styler in the dishwasher. It would be destroyed as a result.

Disconnect the mains plug before cleaning.
- Set the function switch 7 to the position 0 (see fig. D).
- Let the hair volume styler cool off completely.

Remove the brush adapter 3 or 4 as described in the chapter "Changing the brush adapter" (see fig. A).

Remove all hair from the brush adapter.
-
Clean the air intake and air outlet regularly 6. You can e.g. use a vacuum cleaner for this.
-
Wipe the hair volume styler off with a dry or damp cloth with a small amount of dishwashing detergent.
-
Then let all parts dry completely.

Store the hair volume styler in a dry place that is not accessible for children.

Please be aware that if your product is capable of retaining user-generated data (such as files stored on a computer hard drive, telephone numbers stored on a mobile telephone, songs stored on a portable media player, games saved on a games console or files stored on a USB memory stick) during the process of repair, some or all of your stored data may be lost.
We recommend you save this data elsewhere prior to sending the product for repair.
You should also be aware that rather than repairing goods, we may replace them with refurbished goods of the same type of use refurbished parts in the repair process.
Please be assured though, refurbished parts or replacements are only used where they meet ALDI's stringent quality specifications.
