Frequently Asked Questions - WRC-1 WAVES

How do I set up the WRC-1 with Waves MyMon app and eMotion LV1?
Attach the antennas matching the labeled frequencies. Connect the AC power. For DLNA, connect the DLNA WAN port to any LAN port with a Cat5e cable. Connect a computer to a LAN port for network configuration. Then connect your mobile device to the WRC-1 5G Wi-Fi network. Ensure the MyMon network uses a different Ethernet port than the SoundGrid network.
How do I set a password for the 5G Wi-Fi network?
Disconnect other networks and disable Wi-Fi on your computer. Connect via Ethernet to a WRC-1 LAN port. Open a browser to 192.168.2.1, login as admin (no password). Go to Wi-Fi Setup > 5G. Under WPA-PSK, select encryption and enter an 8-character password. Click Save, reboot, and connect with the new password.
How do I factory reset the WRC-1?
You can reset via the web interface: login, go to System Management > Restore Settings > Perform Reset under Factory Reset. Alternatively, press and hold the reset switch on the rear panel for 6 seconds while the unit is powered on.
How do I update the firmware?
Download the latest firmware from Waves support. Connect to the router via Ethernet. Log in to 192.168.2.1, go to System Management > System Upgrade. Click Upload the Upgrade, select the firmware file, and follow prompts.
Can I use DLNA audio with the WRC-1?
Yes. Connect the DLNA WAN port to any LAN port. Connect the DLNA analog XLR outputs to your mixer or speakers. Connect your mobile device to the WRC-1 Wi-Fi, play audio, and select 'DLNA WRC-1' as the AirPlay target.
Which antennas should I use for each band?
Antennas are labeled 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. They only fit the corresponding sockets on the router. Do not force them; match the labels.
Can I change the router's LAN IP address or DHCP settings?
Yes, via the Network page in the web interface under LAN and DHCP tabs. However, it is strongly recommended to use default settings for compatibility.
Where should I mount the WRC-1 for best wireless performance?
Mount it near the top of the rack, away from other devices that use 2.4/5 GHz frequencies. Avoid placing computers or laptops directly above it. Ensure antennas are not covered and minimize metal obstacles between the router and wireless devices.
What can cause interference with the WRC-1?
Common interference sources include two-way radios, copiers, printers, microwave ovens, and refrigerators. Also, other wireless devices in the same frequency range. Keep the router away from such appliances.
What should I do if I lose my Wi-Fi password?
Connect a computer via Ethernet to the router. Log in to the web interface (192.168.2.1). Navigate to Wi-Fi Setup > 5G to view or reset the password. If you cannot access, perform a factory reset using the reset switch.

Rack Installation guidelines

The rack placement and operational environment for the WRC-1 can affect the wireless signal range and coverage. For best results, follow these guidelines:

  • Mount the WRC-1 near the top of the rack and away from any other gear that may use radio waves in the same 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz range. Note that rack-mount computers or laptops placed directly above the WRC-1 may cause wireless interference. The WRC-1 antennas should never be covered in the rack while in operation.
  • Avoid interference from other electronic devices. Interference may be caused by nearby appliances such as two-way radios, copy machines, printers, microwave ovens, and refrigerators.
  • Minimize obstacles, especially large steel or metal objects, between the WRC-1 and wireless-connected devices. The WRC-1 should not, for example, be placed in a location where a stage or riser is directly between the unit and the wireless device.

Setting Up WRC-1 for Use With eMotion LV1 and the MyMon App

If you are unfamiliar with setting up or using the MyMon app, please refer to the My Mon user guide.

  1. Attach the supplied antennas to the WRC-1 unit. Do not force the connection, as antennas marked 2.4 GHz will fit only the 2.4 GHz sockets and antennas marked 5 GHz will fit only the 5 GHz sockets.
  2. Connect the AC cable and power up WRC-1.
  3. If you want to use DLNA, connect the DLNA WPA Ethernet port (2) to any available LAN port (1) on the back of the unit, using a short Cat 5e (or better) cable.
  4. Connect any available WRC-1 LAN port (1) to the Ethernet port on the host computer. This must be the same port used by the MyMon /LV1 network, not the SoundGrid network. Use Cat 5e (or better) cable.
  5. Connect your MyMon Mobile device to the WRC-1 5G Wi-Fi network. Out-of-the-box WRC-1 Wi-Fi network is not password protected. You can password protect your network using WRC-1 Management Software.

Important: The LV1 Ethernet port used for the MyMon network must not be the same Ethernet port used by the SoundGrid network. Combining MyMon and SoundGrid Networks on the same LV'1 ethernet port is not supported.

To Set up DLNA, go to the rear panel and follow these steps:

  1. Connect the DLNA WPA Ethernet Port (2) to any available LAN port (1) on the back of the unit, using a short Cat 5e (or better) cable.
  2. Connect DLNA Audio Outputs (3) to LV1 Analog Inputs using 2 XLR Cables.
  3. Connect your mobile device to WRC-1 Wi-Fi Network.
  4. Play audio on your mobile device.
  5. Open the AirPlay/Bluetooth menu on your mobile device and select DLNA WRC-1 as the playback target device.

Set 5G Wi-Fi Password Using WRC-1 Management Software.

  1. Disconnect the computer that you will use to configure WRC-1 from all connected networks and disable Wi-Fi.
  2. Connect any available WRC-1 LAN port to a port on the computer, using Cat 5e cable.
