ZENITH SINCE 1865 WATCH MANUFACTURE

We congratulate you on the purchase of your Zenith watch and thank you for your confidence. You are now wearing a Manufacture watch that has been crafted in our workshops.

Zenith is a member of a very select circle of authentic Swiss workshops which develop and produce their own movements from A to Z. We have been crafting our watches in the same location since 1865 in our Manufacture situated at number 34, Rue des Billodes in the town of Le Locle, nestled in the heart of the mountainous valleys of Neuchâtel.

Zenith has received over 2,333 chronometry awards, the first of which dates back to 1903, and is thus one of the most widely-acknowledged Swiss brands in terms of precision.

In order to discover our passion for fine craftsmanship in more detail, please visit our website at www.zenith-watches.com. We also invite you to sign up as a Zenith watch owner, which will provide you with a one-year extension on your warranty.

Your watch contains a mechanical movement born from over 300 years of watchmaking tradition. We ask that you look after it attentively and handle it with care during setting.

Over the following pages, you will find advice about using your watch and its functions. The functions available depend on the model.

1 → ELITE MOVEMENT

An ultra-thin automatic movement. As soon as it was launched in 1994, it was awarded the title of "Best mechanical movement of the year" by the international press for its numerous qualities.

Its creation, which required over 5 years of research, is the fruit of exceptional, unique experience that is recognised throughout the watchmaking world.

Over 4,500 production operations and 22 different types of metal are needed to produce it. The Elite movement combines the key qualities of performance, reliability and precision in an elegant form. Its high energy efficiency guarantees an impressive power reserve.

A new automatic movement has joined the Elite family: Calibre 6150. This new mechanical automatic movement is the contemporary version of the famous Elite base movement. In response to the demands of our times, the Zenith engineers and developers have chosen to enhance its performance as well as its versatility by means of a minimum 100-hour power reserve, a broader 30 mm diameter, along with a central sweep-seconds hand. They have also been careful to preserve the exceptionally slender nature of a movement measuring a mere 3.92 mm thick!

2 → WINDING YOUR WATCH

Your watch is fitted with a mechanical movement. The movement is wound either by the crown or via the action of the oscillating weight when worn on the wrist.

When the watch has stopped

Hold your watch and turn the crown at least 30 times. In this way, the barrel containing the mainspring is rewound. To ensure that the automatic winding mechanism functions correctly, the watch must be worn for at least 12 hours every day for several days. If the watch is not worn for long enough, it will stop. If you do not wear your watch at night, you can give it a few turns of the crown in the morning before putting it on.

Power-reserve indication

The graduated scale displays the remaining power reserve in hours.

Accuracy

Under normal conditions of use, the precision discrepancy for our automatic watches is a maximum of 4 to 5 minutes per month in comparison to the standards on the market. Personalised time-setting can however be carried out on request by an authorised Zenith representative.

3 → SETTING THE TIME AND DATE

    style C fill:#f9f,stroke:#333

Setting the time and date will be easier if you hold the watch rather than wear it. You are advised to turn the crown gently and regularly.

Time

Important for models with date: to avoid any risk of damaging the movement, the time should always be adjusted in a clockwise direction.

Watches fitted with an Elite movement have a system for stopping the seconds, which suspends the movement of the balance spring, your watch's regulating organ, thus enabling time-setting with perfect accuracy using a master clock. Pull the crown out two clicks [2] ; the seconds hand stops.

Turn the hands clockwise to place them on the time required. On the stroke of the time signal, press the crown back in. The watch will immediately start operating.

Simple date and large date (2 discs)

Important: Before any change of date, position the hands between 2 o'clock and 6 o'clock, always moving them in a clockwise direction.

Pull the crown out one click (1) and turn it until the correct date is displayed. The watch does not stop when the date is being adjusted. Press the crown back in.

Tip: To ensure you set the correct time - before (a.m.) or after midday (p.m.) - when making a date change, we advise that you set the date to the day before the desired date and then move the hours forwards until the correct date and time, a.m. or p.m., are obtained.

Note: For Calibres 679, 681 and 6150, pull the crown only once to adjust time.

If your watch displays the date, ensure that you are setting the time in the correct part of the day, i.e. before or after midday.

4 → SETTING THE SECOND TIME ZONE

[A]

The 24-hour hand covers a full revolution of the watch dial every 24 hours (as indicated on the outer scale numbered 1 to 24). The watch thus displays both local time and the time in a different time zone. The calendar shows the local date. To set the 24-hour hand according to the time in the chosen time zone, press the button [A] on the case adjacent to the 10 o'clock position. Press once to move the hand forwards one hour; repeal as many times as required.

Example

When it is 3 p.m. in Paris (local time), it is 9 a.m. in New York. By setting the "24-hour" hand to 9 a.m., one can keep track of the time in New York at any given moment.

5 → SETTING THE MOON PHASE

ZENITH TIME TOOL

For Calibre 691, Moonphase Grande Date watch

To adjust the moon phase without any risk of damaging the movement, it is essential to position the hands in the lower part of the dial between 3 and 9 o'clock. Position the full moon at the centre of its aperture by pressing the corrector on the side of the case several times using the Zenith Time Tool. Using a moon calendar, identify the date of the last full moon and count the number of days between then and today. Press the corrector the same number of times.

Example

It is October 15th 2015. The last full moon was on October 5th. The corrector must then be pressed 10 times. The moon phase is set.

For Calibre 692, Lady Moonphase watch

To adjust the moon phase without any risk of damaging the movement, it is essential to position the hands in the lower part of the dial between 3 and 9 o'clock. Pull the crown out one click (1). Position the full moon at the centre of its aperture by

turning the crown. Using a moon calendar, identify the date of the last full moon and count the number of days between then and today. Turn the notched crown accordingly (one turn = one day) until the desired moon phase appears. The watch does not stop when the moon phase is being adjusted. Press the crown back in.

Example

It is October 15th 2015. The last full moon was on October 5th. The corrector must then be turned 10 times. The moon phase is set.
