Frequently Asked Questions - 50410 Dahle

How do I oil the shredder?
For cross-cut models (P5, P6, P7), use only DAHLE document shredder oil. Either fill the automatic oil tank or manually apply oil across the paper feed and run the shredder in reverse for 10 seconds.
What should I do if the shredder stops and the bin full LED flashes?
Switch off the main switch and unplug the power cord. Remove the collection bin, empty it, and reinstall. Plug back in and switch on. The shredder is then ready.
How do I clear a paper jam?
The shredder automatically reverses briefly. If jam persists, press the Reverse button. Reduce paper quantity and try again. Avoid alternating Forward/Reverse rapidly.
Can I shred CDs, DVDs, or credit cards?
Yes, but always wear protective goggles. Ensure the CD/DVD collection bin is positioned correctly at the rear. Insert the item in the middle of the feed while holding the Forward button.
How do I change the fine dust filter?
When the filter change indicator lights up, unplug the shredder. Remove the rear cover, replace the old filter with a DAHLE fine dust filter, close the cover, and reset the indicator by holding Forward+Reverse for 5 seconds.
What safety precautions should I take?
Read the manual fully. Keep hands, clothing, and hair away from the feed. Never insert fingers. Use only in upright position, away from heat sources. Wear goggles for CD/DVD shredding. Do not operate without paper.
Why is my shredder not starting?
Check that the power cord is plugged in, main switch is on, the On/Off/Stop button is lit, the door is closed, the bin is not full, and the thermal cut-out is reset. Wait 2-3 seconds after switching on.
How do I clean the shredder?
Switch off and unplug. Clean the exterior with a dry cloth only. Do not use any liquids. Internal cleaning should be done by a professional.
What is the maximum number of sheets I can shred at once?
Refer to the technical data on the nameplate of your specific model. Capacity varies by paper quality and feed direction. Feed sheets centrally and lengthwise at a 90-degree angle for best results.
Where can I find spare parts or service?
Use only DAHLE original spare parts and accessories. Contact your local Dahle dealer or visit www.dahle.com for service and support.
