Frequently Asked Questions - Dock Box PRO-JECT

What is the Pro-Ject Dock Box used for?
The Dock Box is a USB audio interface that allows you to connect a turntable (with built-in phono preamp or external) to your computer for digitizing vinyl records or listening via USB.
Does it work with my computer?
Yes, it is USB class compliant and works with Windows, macOS, and Linux without drivers. For Windows, you may need to select 'Dock Box' as audio device in sound settings.
Does it have a built-in phono preamp?
No, the Dock Box does not include a phono preamp. It expects line-level input (RCA) from a turntable with a built-in preamp or an external phono stage.
Can I use the headphone output while recording?
Yes, the headphone output allows you to monitor the audio signal in real-time. The volume control adjusts headphone volume only.
What sample rates does it support?
It supports 16-bit audio at 44.1 kHz and 48 kHz sampling rates, suitable for standard CD and video quality.
Do I need an external power supply?
The Dock Box can be powered via USB from your computer. However, for stable operation with longer cables, or if your USB port provides insufficient power, you can use the optional 5V DC adapter.
My computer doesn't recognize the Dock Box. What should I do?
First, try a different USB port. Ensure the cable is fully inserted. On Windows, check Sound/Playback and Recording devices for 'Dock Box'. On macOS, check Audio MIDI Setup. If still not recognized, try a powered USB hub or external power adapter.
Can I use it with a DJ turntable?
Yes, as long as the turntable outputs line-level audio (e.g., with a built-in preamp). Note that the Dock Box is not designed for professional use and may introduce slight latency.
How do I clean the Dock Box?
Unplug all cables and wipe the exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use any liquids, sprays, or abrasive cleaners.
Where can I find spare parts?
Spare parts such as the power adapter and USB cable can be ordered from Pro-Ject authorized dealers. Contact Pro-Ject customer service for assistance.
