First use

Checking the kettle and product contents

NOTICE!

Risk of damage!

If you are not cautious when opening the packaging with a sharp knife or other pointy object, you may quickly damage the kettle.

- Be careful when opening.

  1. Take the kettle out of the packaging.
  2. Check to make sure that the delivery is complete (see fig. A and B).
  3. Check whether the kettle or the individual parts exhibit damage. If this is the case, do not use the kettle. Contact the manufacturer at the service address specified on the warranty card.

Setting up the kettle

  1. Remove all protective films.

Basic cleaning

Clean the kettle before using it for the first time. To do so, proceed as follows:

  1. Fill the water tank 9 up to the MAX mark with water and boil the water as described in the chapter "Boiling water" (see fig. A).
  2. Then pour the water out for hygienic reasons.
  3. Repeat the process twice.

Operation

WARNING!

Scalding and burn hazard!

The kettle gets hot during operation and emits hot steam posing a scalding and burn hazard! If the lid is not properly closed when the device is switched on, the kettle will not be able to switch off automatically and the hot water may boil over.

  • Never touch the hot parts of the kettle.
  • Only hold the kettle by the handle.
Clearly advise other users of the risks!
  • Keep away from any steam that is emitted.
  • Please keep in mind that hot steam is also able to escape from the kettle after it turned it off!
  • Always close the lid before you switch the kettle on. Make sure the lid audibly locks into place and is locked.
  • Always keep the lid closed when pouring out the heated water.

WARNING!

Risk of injury and damage!

Heating up too much water in the kettle may cause hot water to be sprayed out of the water tank; if you do not heat up enough water, the kettle may overheat and be damaged as a result.

- When filling the water tank with water, make sure that the water level is always between MIN and MAX on the fill level indicator.

Ambiano GT-WKe-02-UK - Risk of injury and damage! - 1

To facilitate the filling process, the lid can be locked in the open position.

  • Push the opened lid back. The lid has now been locked in place.
  • To close the lid, fold it back down.

Ambiano GT-WKe-02-UK - Risk of injury and damage! - 2

The manufacturer recommends that you do not heat up stagnant water again.

- Pour it out or use it to water your plants once cooled off.

Boiling water

  1. Depress the lock button 1 to open the lid 11 (see fig. A).
  2. Fill the water tank 9 with the desired quantity of cold water.
  3. Close the lid.

Risk of damage!

Operating the kettle when it doesn't contain enough water can damage it.

- Only operate the kettle if the water tank has at least been filled with 0.5 l of water.

Ambiano GT-WKe-02-UK - Risk of damage! - 1

If you have set a keep warm temperature of 100 °C , the water will be kept at a temperature between 90 - 100 °C to prevent an excessive amount of steam from being produced.

Ambiano GT-WKe-02-UK - Risk of damage! - 2

If you set a keep warm temperature under 90 °C , the water will be kept at a temperature of no more than approx. 8 °C above or below the set temperature.

Ambiano GT-WKe-02-UK - Risk of damage! - 3

If you are unable to set the desired temperature, this is probably due to the fact that the water temperature in the water tank is higher than the temperature you would like to set.

Ambiano GT-WKe-02-UK - Risk of damage! - 4

If the boiling or keep warm process does not start within 10 seconds after setting the desired temperature by pushing the On/Off switch, the kettle will automatically switch off.

Ambiano GT-WKe-02-UK - Risk of damage! - 5

As soon as you lift the water tank off of the base, the kettle will automatically switch off and all settings are lost.

  • Let the kettle cool off.

You can then continue to use the kettle as usual.

Cleaning and maintenance

Ambiano GT-WKe-02-UK - Cleaning and maintenance - 1

WARNING!

Scalding and burn hazard!

The kettle gets hot during operation and emits hot steam!

  • Let the kettle cool off completely each time before cleaning it.
  • Keep yourself and other persons away from the hot steam that is emitted!
  • Close the lid before you switch the kettle on!
  • Never open the lid when pouring out hot water!

NOTICE!

Risk of damage!

The kettle could be damaged if it is not cleaned properly.

  • Do not use any aggressive cleaners, brushes with metal or nylon bristles, as well as sharp or metallic cleaning utensils such as knives, hard scrapers and the like. They could damage the surfaces.
  • Do not in any case place the water tank or the base in the dishwasher. The kettle would be destroyed as a result.
  • Never immerse the kettle in water to clean it and do not use a steam cleaner to clean it. Otherwise, you could damage the kettle.

Cleaning

  1. Disconnect the mains plug before cleaning.
  2. Let the kettle cool off completely.
  3. Wipe off the outside of the kettle with a damp cloth.
  4. Depress the lock button 1 and open the lid 11 of the water tank 9 (see fig. A).
  5. Remove the filter insert 12 that is installed in front of the spout 10.

To do so, gently push the filter insert down, fold it off and take it out of the holder (see fig. B and fig. D).

  1. Rinse the filter insert under running water or clean it with a damp cloth. If heavily soiled, soak it in a water-vinegar mixture (6 parts to 1) for a few hours and then rinse it thoroughly with clean water.
  2. Put the filter insert back in place. To do so, first insert the bottom end of the filter insert and push it into place.

The filter insert must noticeably lock into place.

  1. Use a dry cloth to clean the base 8 (see fig. A).

Decalcification

Ambiano GT-WKe-02-UK - Decalcification - 1

The manufacturer recommends that you decalcify the kettle on a regular basis as a heavily calcified kettle consumes more power. How often you decalcify the kettle depends on the hardness of the water used and the frequency of use.

- With normal use and soft water, you should decalcify the kettle every 3 months and once a month with hard water.

Contact the water utility that supplies your home with water for information on the water hardness.

- Decalcify the kettle no later than when the boiling process takes much longer than usual or thick calcification deposits have formed on the heating plate in the water tank.

Proceed as follows to decalcify the kettle:

  1. Pour decalcifying liquid into the water tank 9. You can mix household vinegar with water in a ratio of 1:1 for this purpose or you can use a commercially available decalcifier. When using a decalcifier, observe the manufacturer information regarding use (see fig. A).
  2. Boil the decalcifying liquid in the kettle.
  3. Let the liquid take effect for about half an hour after being boiled.
  4. If heavily calcified, boil the liquid a second time.
  5. Then pour the liquid out.
  6. Boil fresh tap water and pour it out after boiling.

The kettle has now been decalcified and you can continue using it as usual.

Storage

  • Pull the mains plug out of the socket to completely disconnect the kettle from the mains when you are not using it.
  • Store the kettle on a dry, level surface.
