How do I set the alarm on my LG DM2740DAB radio?

Can I connect headphones to this radio?

Yes, there is a 3.5mm headphone jack on the side of the radio. Inserting headphones automatically mutes the internal speaker.

What is DRC and how do I enable it?

DRC (Dynamic Range Control) reduces the difference between loud and soft sounds for easier listening, especially at low volume. To enable, go to MENU > 'DRC' and set it to 'Low' or 'High'.

How do I store a preset station?

Tune to the desired station, then press and hold one of the preset buttons (1-5). The display will confirm the preset saved. For more than 5 presets, use the memory function via MENU > 'Prune' or 'Memory'.

My radio displays 'No Service' on DAB. What should I do?

This indicates no DAB signal. Move the radio closer to a window or outdoors. Ensure the antenna is fully extended. Perform a new auto scan: press SCAN or go to MENU > 'Scan' > 'Full scan'.

How do I reset the radio to factory settings?

Playable Discs

This unit plays DVD±R/RW and CD-R/RW that contain audio titles, DivX, MP3, WMA and/or JPEG files. Some DVD±RW/DVD±R or CD-RW/CD-R cannot be played on this unit due to the recording quality or physical condition of the disc, or the characteristics of the recording device and authoring software.

Regional Codes

This unit has a regional code printed on the rear of the unit. This unit can play only DVD discs labeled same as the rear of the unit or "ALL".

• Most DVD discs have a globe with one or more numbers in it clearly visible on the cover. This number must match your unit's regional code or the disc cannot play.
• If you try to play a DVD with a different regional code from your unit, the message "Check Regional Code" appears on the TV screen.

MP3/WMA file compatibility with this unit is limited as follows:

• Sampling frequency: within 32 to 48 kHz (MP3), within 32 to 48 kHz (WMA)
• Bit rate: within 32 to 320 kbps (MP3), 40 to 192 kbps (WMA) • Support Version: v2, v7, v8, v9 • Maximum files: Under 999
• File extensions: ".mp3"/".wma" • CD-ROM file format: ISO9660/JOLIET • We recommend that you use Easy-CD Creator, which creates an ISO 9660 file system.
• You have to set the disc format option to [Mastered] in order to make the discs compatible with the LG players when formatting rewritable discs. When setting the option to Live File System, you cannot use it on LG players. (Mastered/Live File System: Disc format system for Windows Vista)

DTS is not supported. (In the case of playing DTS audio format, there will be no audio output.)

Photo File Requirements

Photo file compatibility with this unit is limited as follows:

• Maximum pixel width: 2760 x 2048 pixels • Maximum files: under 999 - Some discs may not operate due to a different recording format or the condition of the disc. - File extensions: "jpg" • CD-ROM file format: ISO9660/JOLIET

DivX file requirements

DivX file compatibility with this unit is limited as follows:

Battery Installation

Remove the battery cover on the rear of the Remote Control, and insert one (size AAA) battery with

TITLE: If the current DVD title has a menu, the title menu appears on the screen. Otherwise, the disc menu may not appear.

Precautions in using the touch buttons

• Use the touch buttons with clean and dry hands.
• In a humid environment, wipe out any moisture on the touch buttons before using.
• Do not press the touch buttons hard to make it work.
• If you apply too much strength, it can damage the sensor of the touch buttons.
• Touch the button that you want to work in order to operate the function correctly.
• Be careful not to have any conductive material such as metallic object on the touch buttons. It can cause malfunctions.

Attaching the speakers to the unit

To connect the cable to the unit, press each plastic finger pad to open the connection terminals on the unit. Insert the wire and release the finger pad.

Connect the black stripe of each wire to the terminals marked - (minus) and the other end to the terminals marked + (plus).

Caution

The speakers contain magnet parts, so color irregularity may occur on the TV screen or PC monitor screen. Please use the speakers far away from either TV screen or PC monitor.

Connections to Your TV

Make one of the following connections, depending on the capabilities of your existing equipment.

Note

• Depending on your TV and other equipment you wish to connect, there are various ways you could connect the player. Use only one of the connections described in this manual.
• Please refer to the manuals of your TV, Stereo System or other devices as necessary to make the best connections.

Caution

• Make sure the unit is connected directly to the TV. Tune the TV to the correct video input channel.
• Do not connect your player via your VCR. The image could be distorted by the copy protection system.

HDMI Out Connection

If you have a HDMI TV or monitor, you can connect it to this unit using a HDMI cable (Type A, High Speed HDMI™ cable).

Connect the HDMI OUT jack on the unit to the HDMI IN jack on a HDMI compatible TV or monitor. Set the TV's source to HDMI (refer to TV's Owner's manual).

! Tip

• You can fully enjoy digital audio and video signals together with this HDMI connection.
• When you use HDMI connection, you can change the resolution for the HDMI output. (Refer to "Resolution" on page 15.)

Note

• If a connected HDMI device does not accept the audio output of the unit, the HDMI device's audio sound may be distorted or may not output.
• When you connect a HDMI or DVI compatible device make sure of the following:

- Try switching off the HDMI/DVI device and this unit. Next, switch on the HDMI/DVI device and leave it for around 30 seconds, then switch on this unit.

• The connected device's video input is set correctly for this unit.
• The connected device is compatible with 720 x 480i (or 576i), 720 x 480p (or 576p), 1280 x 720p, 1920 x 1080i or 1920 x 1080p video input.
• Not all HDCP-compatible HDMI or DVI devices will work with this unit.
• The picture will not be displayed properly with non-HDCP device.
• This unit does not playback and TV screen is changed to black or green screen or the snow noise may occur on the screen.
• If there is noise or lines on the screen, please check the HDMI cable and use a higher version cable than High Speed HDMI™ cable.

Caution

• Changing the resolution when the connection has already been established may result in malfunctions. To solve the problem, turn off the unit and then turn it on again.
• When the HDMI connection with HDCP is not verified, TV screen is changed to black or green screen or the snow noise may occur on the screen. In this case, check the HDMI connection, or disconnect the HDMI cable.

Video Connection

Connect the VIDEO OUT jack on the unit to the video in jack on the TV using a video cable.

You can hear the sound through the system's speakers.

Resolution Setting

The unit provides several output resolutions for HDMI OUT TO TV.

You can change the resolution using [Setup] menu.

1. Press HOME.
2. Use <//> to select the [Setup] and press Ⓞ ENTER. The [Setup] menu appears.

1. Use ∧/∨ to select the [Display] option, then press > to move to the second level.
2. Use ∧/∨ to select the [Resolution] option, then press > to move to the third level.
3. Use ∧/∨ to select the desired resolution, then press ⊙ ENTER to confirm your selection.

Note

If your TV does not accept the resolution you have set on the player, you can set resolution to 480p (or 576p) as follows:

Press ■ STOP for more than 5 seconds.

Video Output Resolution

Displayed resolution in the display window and outputted resolution may differ according to connection type.

[HDMI OUT]: 1080p, 1080i, 720p, 480p (or 576p), and 480i (or 576i)

[VIDEO OUT]: 480i (or 576i).

Optional Equipment Connection

AUDIO (PORT. IN) Connection

Connect an output of a portable device (MP3 or PMP etc.) to the AUDIO (PORT. IN) input connector.

Listening to music from your portable player or external device

The unit can be used to play music from many types of portable players or external devices.

1. Connect the portable player to the PORT. IN (PORTABLE IN) connector of the unit.
2. Turn the power on by pressing ⏻ (POWER).
3. Select the PORTABLE function by pressing RADIO&INPUT.
4. Turn on the portable player or external device and start it playing.

OPTICAL In connection

Connect an optical output of a unit (or digital device etc.) to the OPTICAL IN connector.

Speaker easy setup

Listen to sound from TV, DVD, and digital devices with 2-channel mode. Even in power-off mode, if you press OPTICAL, then power is on and automatically changed to AUX OPT mode.

1. Connect the unit's OPTICAL IN jack to the optical out jack of your TV (or digital device etc.).
2. Select AUX OPT by using the OPTICAL button. To select AUX OPT directly.
3. Listen to sound with 2-channel speakers.
4. To exit AUX OPT using the OPTICAL function, return to the previous one.

Antenna Connection

Connect the supplied FM and DAB antennas for listening to the radio.

Connect the FM wire antenna to the FM antenna connector.

Connect the DAB antenna to the DAB antenna connector.

Note

• Be sure to fully extend the FM wire antenna.
• When the broadcasting signal is weak: Check the condition of broadcasting reception. (Check the QUALITY)
• When moving the unit to other areas: It could delete all of the saved DAB scan stations.

USB Connection

Connect the USB port of a USB Memory (or MP3 player, etc.) to the USB port on the front of the unit.

Note

Removing the USB Device from the unit

1. Choose a different function mode or press

■ on the unit or ■ STOP on the remote control twice in a row.

Compatible USB Devices

• MP3 Player: Flash type MP3 player. - USB Flash Drive: Devices that support USB2.0 or USB1.1. - The USB function of this unit does not support some USB devices.

USB device requirement

• Devices which require additional program installation connected to a computer are not supported. - Do not extract the USB device while in operation. - For a large capacity USB, it may take longer than a few minutes to be searched. • To prevent data loss, back up all data. - If you use a USB extension cable or USB hub, the USB device is not recognized. - Using NTFS file system is not supported. (Only FAT(16/32) file system is supported.) - This unit is not supported when the total number of files is 1,000 or more. - External HDD, Card readers, Locked devices, or hard type USB devices are not supported. - USB port of the unit cannot be connected to PC. The unit cannot be used as a storage device.

Adjust the setup settings

By using the Setup menu, you can make various adjustments to items such as picture and sound.

You can also set a language for the subtitles and the Setup menu, among other things. For details on each Setup menu item, see pages 19 to 22.

OSD Initial language settings - Optional

During the first use of this unit, the initial language setup menu appears on your TV screen. You must complete initial language selection before using the unit. English will be selected as the initial language.

1. Press ⏻ (POWER) to turn the unit on. The language setup menu will appear on the screen.

1. Use V <> to select a language then press ENTER.

The confirm menu will appear.

1. Use <> to select the [Enter] then press Ⓑ ENTER to finish the language setup.

Disc Audio / Disc Subtitle / Disc Menu

Select the language you prefer for the audio track (disc audio), subtitles, and the disc menu.

[Original]

Refers to the original language in which the disc was recorded.

[Other]

To select another language, press numeric buttons and then Ⓧ ENTER to enter the corresponding 4-digit number according to the language code list on page 38. If you enter the wrong language code, press CLEAR.

[Off (for Disc Subtitle)]

Turn off Subtitle.

Display

TV Aspect

Select which screen aspect to use based on the shape of your TV screen.

[4:3]

Select when a standard 4:3 TV is connected.

[16:9]

Select when a 16:9 wide TV is connected.

Display Mode

The Display Mode setting works only when the TV Aspect mode is set to 4:3.

[Letterbox]

Displays a wide picture with bands on the upper and lower portions of the screen.

[Panscan]

Automatically displays the wide picture on the entire screen and cuts off the portions that do not fit. (If the disc/file is not compatible with Pan Scan, the picture is displayed at Letterbox ratio.)

Resolution

Sets the output resolution of the HDMI video signal. Refer to "Resolution Setting" for details about the resolution (page 15).

[Auto]

If the HDMI OUT jack is connected to TVs providing display information (EDID), automatically selects the resolution best suited to the connected TV. If the VIDEO OUT is only connected, this changes the resolution to 480i (or 576i) as default resolution.

[1080p]

Outputs 1080 lines of progressive video.

[1080i]

Outputs 1080 lines of interlaced video.

[720p]

Outputs 720 lines of progressive video.

[480p (or 576p)]

Outputs 480 (or 576) lines of progressive video.

[480i (or 576i)]

Outputs 480 (or 576) lines of interlaced video.

Audio

DRC (Dynamic Range Control)

Make the sound clear when the volume is turned down (Dolby Digital only). Set to [On] for this effect.

Vocal

Select [On] to mix karaoke channels into normal stereo.

This function is effective for multi-channel karaoke DVDs only.

HD AV Sync

Sometimes Digital TV encounters a delay between picture and sound. If this happens you can compensate by setting a delay on the sound so that it effectively 'waits' for the picture to arrive: this is called HD AV Sync. Use the arrow buttons (on the remote control) to scroll up and down through the delay amount, which you can set at anything between 0 and 300ms.

Lock (Parental Control)

Initial Setting the Area Code

When you use this unit for the first time, you have to set the Area Code.

1. Select the [Lock] menu and then press >.
2. Press >. To access the [Lock] options, you must input the password you have created. Input a password and press ENTER. Enter it again and press ENTER to verify. If you make a mistake before pressing ENTER, press CLEAR.
3. Select the first character using the ∧ ∨ buttons.
4. Press ⬙ ENTER and select the second character using the ∧ ∨ buttons.
5. Press ⬤ ENTER to confirm your Area code selection.

Rating

Blocks playback of rated DVDs based on their contents. Not all discs are rated.

1. Select [Rating] on the [Lock] menu then press >.
2. Input a password and press Ⓞ ENTER.
3. Select a rating from 1 to 8 using the ∧ ∨ buttons.

[Rating 1-8]

Rating one (1) has the most restrictions and rating eight (8) is the least restrictive.

[Unlock]

If you select unlock, parental control is not active and the disc plays in full.

1. Press Ⓞ ENTER to confirm your rating selection.

Password

You can enter or change password.

1. Select [Password] on the [Lock] menu and then press >.
2. Press Ⓞ ENTER.
3. Input a password and press Ⓞ ENTER.

To change the password, press Ⓞ ENTER when the [Change] option is highlighted. Input a password and press Ⓞ ENTER. Enter it again and press Ⓞ ENTER to verify.

1. Press ⬆ HOME to exit the menu.

Note

If you forget your password, you can clear it using the following steps:

1. Select the [Setup] menu on the [Home Menu].
2. Input the 6-digit number "210499" and press Ⓞ ENTER. The password is cleared.

Area Code

Enter the code of the area whose standards were used to rate the DVD video disc, based on the list on page 37.

1. Select [Area Code] on the [Lock] menu then press >.
2. Input a password and press Ⓞ ENTER.
3. Select the first character using V buttons.
4. Press Ⓞ ENTER and select the second character using ∧ ∨ buttons.
5. Press ⬤ ENTER to confirm your Area code selection.

ABOUT DIVX VIDEO-ON-DEMAND: This DivX Certified® device must be registered in order to play purchased DivX Video-on-Demand (VOD) movies. To obtain your registration code, locate the DivX VOD section in your device setup menu. Go to vod.divx.com for more information on how to complete your registration.

[Register]

Displays the registration code of your unit.

[Deregister]

Deactivate your unit and display the deactivation code.

Note

All the downloaded videos from DivX® VOD can only be played back on this unit.

Using the Home Menu

1. Press HOME.

You can not select the [Music], [Movie] or [Photo] option when the USB device is not connected or a disc is not inserted.

3. Select an option by using <>. If you select the [Movie], [Photo], or [Music] option when you connect up to two devices, it appears as below. Select a media then press Ⓞ

Other Operations

Displaying Disc Information on-screen

You can display various information about the disc loaded on-screen.

1. Press INFO/DISPLAY to show various playback information. The displayed items differ depending on the disc type or playing status.
2. You can select an item by pressing V and change or select the setting by pressing <> . Title – Current title number/ total number of titles. Chapter – Current chapter number/ total number of chapters.

Time – Elapsed playing time.

Audio – Selected audio language or channel.

Subtitle – Selected subtitle.

Angle - Selected angle/total number of angles.

Note

If any button is not pressed for a few seconds, the on-screen display disappears.

To display the DVD Menu

DVD

When you play a DVD which contains several menus, you can select the menu you want using the Menu.

1. Press DISC MENU. The disc's menu appears.
2. Select the menu by using ∧V<>
3. Press ▶ PLAY, MONO/STEREO to confirm.

To display the DVD title

DVD

When you play a DVD which contains several titles, you can select the title you want using the Menu.

1. Press TITLE. The disc's title appears.
2. Select the menu by pressing ∧ ∨ < >
3. Press ▶ PLAY, MONO/STEREO to confirm.

1.5 times speed playback

DVD

The 1.5 speed allows you to watch the pictures and listen to the sound quicker than playing at a normal speed.

1. During playback, press ▶ PLAY, MONO/STEREO to play at 1.5 times speed. "▶ X1.5" appears on the screen.
2. Press ▶ PLAY, MONO/STEREO again to exit.

Starting play from selected time

DVD MOVIE

To start playing at any chosen time on the file or title.

1. Press □ INFO/DISPLAY during playback.
2. Press Λ V to select the time clock icon and "--:--:" appears.
3. Input the required start time in hours, minutes, and seconds from left to right. If you enter the wrong numbers, press CLEAR to remove the numbers you entered. Then input the correct numbers. For example, to find a scene at 1 hour, 10 minutes, and 20 seconds, enter "11020" by using numerical buttons.
4. Press ⬘ ENTER to confirm. Playback starts from the selected time.

Resume playback

DVD MOVIE MUSIC ACD

The unit records the point where you pressed the

■ STOP depending on the disc. If "■ (Resume Stop)" appears on the screen briefly, press ▶ PLAY, MONO/STEREO to resume playback (from the scene point). If you press ■ STOP twice or unload the disc, "■"(Complete Stop) appears on the screen. The unit will clear the stopped point.

Note

The resume point may be cleared when a button is pressed (for example; ⏻ (POWER), ▲ OPEN/CLOSE, etc).

Changing subtitle code page

MOVIE

If the subtitle is not displayed properly, you can change the subtitle code page to view the subtitle file properly.

1. During playback, press INFO/DISPLAY to display the On-Screen display.
2. Use Λ V to select the [Code Page] option.
3. Use <> to select desired code option.
4. Press 📍 RETURN to exit the On-Screen display.

Last Scene Memory

DVD

This unit memorizes the last scene from the last disc that was viewed. The last scene remains in memory even if you remove the disc from the unit or switch off the unit. If you load a disc that has the scene memorized, the scene is automatically recalled.

Screen Saver

The screen saver appears when you leave the unit in Stop mode for about five minutes.

Power Resume - Optional

DVD

Even if the power suddenly goes out, turn on the unit and it will play from the position where the content was being played. The system will periodically save the current playback status.

Marked Playback

MUSIC ACD

The mark function enables you to store your favorite files from any disc or USB device in the unit memory.

1. Select [Music] on the [Home Menu].

Returning to the upper folder. (MP3/WMA only)

File information will be displayed according to the ID3TAG information on the appropriate music file. (MP3 only)

Selecting all tracks/files.

Moving to the previous or next file list.

1. Select a desired music on the [List] by using the ∧∨ then press MARKER to make the mark appear on the list.

To delete a Marker

1. Use Δ V to select the track that you wish to erase from the marked file.

Use ∧ V <> to select [Deselect All] then press Ⓞ ENTER in program edit mode.

Note

The markers are also cleared when the disc or USB device is removed, the unit is switched to power off or the function is switched to others.

Viewing a PHOTO file

This unit can play discs with photo files.

1. Select [Photo] on the [Home Menu] and press Ⓞ ENTER.

Returning to the upper folder.

1. Press ∧ V to select a folder, and then press Ⓞ ENTER.
2. If you want to view a slide show, press ∧ ∨ to highlight a file and press ▶ PLAY, MONO/STEREO.

Options while viewing a photo

You can use various options while viewing a photo in full screen.

1. While viewing a photo in full screen, press INFO/DISPLAY to display the option menu.
2. Select an option using ∧V<>

1 Current photo/ Total number of photos – Use <> to view previous/next photo. 2 Slide Show ▶/II – Press Ⓞ ENTER to start or pause slide show. 3 Speed x3/ x2/ x1 – Use ⚙ ENTER to select a delaying speed between photos in a slide show. 4 Rotate – Press ⬙ ENTER to rotate the photo. 5 Go to list – Press Ⓑ ENTER to return to the [Photo] menu.

System Select - Optional

You must select the appropriate system mode for your TV system. Press and hold II PAUSE/STEP for more than five seconds to be able to select a system in the [Home Menu].

Note

If the USB device is connected or a disc is inserted, this function is not operated.

Setting the Clock

1. Turn the unit on.
2. Press and hold CLOCK.
3. Select time mode by pressing ◀◀◀/▶◀◀.
4. AM 12:00 (for an AM and PM display) or 0:00 (for a 24 hour display)
5. Press SET/DEMO to confirm your selection.
6. Select the hours by pressing ◀◀/▶◀.
7. Press SET/DEMO.
8. Select the minutes by pressing ◀◀◀/▶▶▶.
9. Press SET/DEMO.

Using your player as an alarm clock

1. Turn the unit on.
2. Press and hold ALARM.
3. Press ◀◀◀/▶▶▶ to change the hours and minutes and press SET/DEMO to save.
4. Press ◀◀◀/▶▶▶ to select function and press SET/DEMO.
5. Press ◀◀◀/▶▶▶ to change the volume and press SET/DEMO to save. The clock icon “L” shows that the alarm is set.

Note

• If you set the clock time, you can check the time by pressing CLOCK even when the player is turned off.
• If you set the clock time and alarm, you can check the alarm icon "L" by pressing CLOCK even when the player is turned off.
• If you set the clock time and alarm, you can check the alarm icon "L" and setting information by pressing ALARM even when the unit is turned off.
• Press ALARM to select ALARM on or off mode.

Sleep Timer Setting

Press SLEEP one or more times to select a delay time between 10 and 180 minutes, after which the unit will turn off.

To check the remaining time, press SLEEP.

To cancel the sleep function, press SLEEP repeatedly until "SLEEP 10" appears, and then press SLEEP once again while "SLEEP 10" is displayed.

Note

You can check the remaining time before the unit turns off.

Press SLEEP. The remaining time appears in the display window.

Dimmer

Press SLEEP once. The display window will darken by half. To cancel it, press SLEEP repeatedly until dim off. If you touch the buttons in Sleep Timer mode, the buttons will light up for 5 seconds and then darken again.

Turn off the sound temporarily

Press MUTE to mute your unit.

You can mute your unit, for example, to answer the telephone. The "X" is displayed in the display window.

DEMO

In the power off state, it demonstrates the function on the display window by pressing DEMO. To cancel the DEMO, press it again.

Note

• While in DEMO mode, this unit will retain DEMO status even if you unplug the power cord.
• You can use other functions during DEMO. The DEMO will pause temporarily.
• If no key is pressed for 10 seconds, the DEMO will play back automatically.

Auto Power Down

This unit will power off automatically to save energy if it is not connected to an external device and is not used for 20 minutes.

This unit will power off after six hours when connected to a device using an analog input.

Radio Operations

Make sure the FM and DAB aerial is connected. (Refer to page 17.)

Listening to the radio

1. Press RADIO&INPUT until FM or DAB appears in the display window. The last received station is tuned in.
2. [FM] Press and hold TUNING (-/+) for about two seconds until the frequency indication starts to change, then release. Scanning stops when the unit tunes in a station.

Or

Press TUNING (-/+) repeatedly.

[DAB]

Press TUNING (-/+) and press ▶ PLAY.

1. Adjust the volume by rotating -/+ on the front panel or by pressing VOL (+/-) on the remote control repeatedly. In DAB function, press ▶ PLAY, MONO/STEREO to start.

Presetting the Radio Stations

You can preset 50 stations for FM or DAB.

Before tuning, make sure that you have turned down the volume.

1. Press → RADIO&INPUT until FM or DAB appears in the display window.
2. [FM] Select the desired frequency by using TUNING (-/+).

[DAB]

Press TUNING (-/+) and press ▶ PLAY.

1. Press Ⓑ ENTER a preset number will flash in the display window.
2. Press PRESET (-/+) to select the preset number you want.
3. Press Ⓞ ENTER. The station is stored.
4. Repeat the steps 2 to 5 to store other stations.

Deleting all the saved stations

1. Press and hold CLEAR for two seconds. "ERASE ALL" will flash up on the unit display.
2. Press CLEAR to erase all saved radio stations.

Deleting a saved station

1. Press PRESET - / + to select the preset number you want to delete.
2. Press CLEAR; the preset number will blink in the display window.
3. Press CLEAR again to delete the selected preset number.

Improving poor FM reception

Press ▶ PLAY, MONO/STEREO on the remote control. This will change the tuner from stereo to mono and usually improve reception.

Listening to DAB

You can change the display information of the currently broadcasting DAB channel. Press

DAB INFO on the remote control repeatedly; the display changes in the following order: SERVICE -> PTY NAME -> FREQ -> DLS -> QUALITY -> ENSEMBLE

SERVICE: Displays the name of the channel for the current broadcast.

PTY NAME: Displays the type of the channel for the current broadcast.

FREQ: Displays the frequency of the channel for the current broadcast.

DLS: Displays the current scroll of the selected channel.

QUALITY: Displays the current strength of the broadcast signal in bar form.

ENSEMBLE Displays the Ensemble of the channel for the current broadcast.

Aligning the service names

Press SORT/SCAN on the remote control to display the sorting mode of DAB broadcastings. Then, press the button once again to change the mode.

Default sort: The service names are aligned in a scanning order.

Name sort: The service names are aligned in an alphabetical order.

DAB scan

Press SORT/SCAN on the remote control for longer than 3 seconds, all of the DAB bands are scanned. Then press it again, scanning will be cancelled.

Deleting all of the saved DAB scan stations

Press and hold DAB INFO. on the remote control for 3 seconds. "DAB INIT" will be displayed. Press DAB INFO. to erase all the saved stations.

Sound adjustment

Setting the surround mode

This system has a number of pre-set surround sound fields. You can select a desired sound mode by using SOUND EFFECT.

You can change the SOUND EFFECT using < > arrow key while the sound effect information is displayed on.

The displayed items for the equalizer maybe different depending on sound sources and effects.

NATURAL	You can enjoy comfortable and natural sound.
Local Specialization equalizer (Optional)	Regionally optimized sound effect. (DANGDUT/ ARABIC/ PERSIAN/ INDIA/ REGUETON/ MERENGUE/ SALSA/ SAMBA/ CUMBIA/ AFRO)
AUTO EQ	Realizes the sound equalizer that is the most similar to the genre of which is included in the MP3 ID3 tag of song files.
POPCLASSICJAZZROCK	This program lends an enthusiastic atmosphere to the sound, giving you the feeling you are at an actual pop, classic, jazz, rock or concert.

On Display Description
MP3 -- OPT	This function is optimized for compressible MP3, WMA file. It improves the treble sound.
BASS BLAST	During playback, reinforce the treble, bass and surround sound effect.
LOUDNESS	Improves the bass and treble sound.
BYPASS	You can enjoy the sound without equalizer effect.

Note

• In some surround modes, some speakers may have no sound or low sound. This depends on the surround mode and the audio source, and is not a defect.
• You may need to reset the surround mode after switching the input, and sometimes even after the sound track changes.

Adjust the speaker level settings.

You can adjust the sound level of each speaker.

1. Press SPEAKER LEVEL repeatedly to select the desired speaker to set.
2. Press VOL -/+ to adjust the sound level of the selected speaker while the level setting menu is displayed on the display window.
3. Repeat to adjust the sound level of the other speakers.

Advanced Operations

Recording to USB

You can record music or sound sources to a USB device by connecting it to the port on the unit.

1. Connect the USB device to the unit.
2. Select a mode in which you want to record. Play back a sound source first.
3. Start recording by pressing ● REC.
4. To stop recording, press ■ STOP.

Record to USB in stop or play mode.

[Program list recording]

After marking desired file(s), you can record them to USB.

It will be stored as follows.

Note

• You can check the recording percentage rate for the USB record on the screen during the recording. (Audio CD or MP3/WMA CD only)
• During MP3/WMA recording, there is no sound.
• When you stop recording during playback, the file that has been recorded at that time will be stored. (Audio CD only)
• Do not remove the USB device or turn off the unit during USB recording. If not, an incomplete file may be made and not deleted on PC.
• Recording through microphones is not available.
• If USB recording does not work, the message like "NO USB", "ERROR", "USB FULL" or "NO REC" is displayed on the display window.
• Multi card reader device or external HDD cannot be used for USB recording.
• A file is recorded by 128 Mbyte (about 2 hours) when you record for a long term. There are recorded less than 4 files.
• When you stop recording during playback, the file will not be stored.
• In the state CD-G, DTS disc USB record is not operated.
• The files in the sub-folders are not recorded during all track recording.
• You may not record more than 999 files.
• The numbering of the recording file is entered from the lowest number. So if you delete some of the recording files, the next recording file could be the lowest number among them.

About Bluetooth

Bluetooth is wireless communication technology for short range connection.

The sound may be interrupted when the connection is interfered by other electronic waves or when you connect the Bluetooth in other rooms. Connecting individual devices under

Bluetooth ^® wireless technology does not incur any charges. A mobile phone with

Bluetooth ^® wireless technology can be operated via the Cascade if the connection was made via Bluetooth ^® wireless technology.

Available Devices: Mobile phone, MP3, Laptop, PDA.

Bluetooth Profiles

In order to use Bluetooth ^® wireless technology, devices must be able to interpret certain profiles. This unit is compatible with the following profile.

A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile)

Listening to music of a Bluetooth device

Before you start the pairing procedure, make sure the Bluetooth feature is turned on in your Bluetooth device. Refer to your Bluetooth device's user guide. Once a pairing operation is performed, it does not need to be performed again.

1. Select the Bluetooth function by using the RADIO&INPUT.

"BT READY" appears in the display window.

1. Operate the Bluetooth device and perform the pairing operation. When searching for this unit with the Bluetooth device, a list of the devices found may appear in the Bluetooth device display depending on the type of Bluetooth device. Your unit appears as "LG MICRO(XX:XX)".

Note

XX:XX means the last four digits of BT address. For example, if your unit has a BT address such as 9C:02:98:4A:F7:08, you will see "LG MICRO (F7:08)" on your Bluetooth device.

1. Enter the PIN code. PIN code : 0000
2. When this unit successfully paired with your Bluetooth device, Bluetooth LED of this unit lights up and appears "BT PAIRED".

Note

Depending on the Bluetooth device type, some device have a different pairing way.

1. Listening to music. To play a music stored on your Bluetooth device, refer to your Bluetooth device's user guide.

Note

- When using Bluetooth® technology, you have to make a connection between the unit and the Bluetooth device as close as possible. However, it may not work well in the following cases:

- There is an obstacle between the unit and the Bluetooth device. - There is a device using the same frequency as Bluetooth® technology, such as medical equipment, a microwave, or a wireless LAN device.

- You should connect your Bluetooth device to this unit again when you restart it.

- The sound may be interrupted when other electronic equipment uses devices with the same frequency.

- You cannot control the Bluetooth device with this unit.

- Pairing is limited to one Bluetooth device per unit, and multi-pairing is not supported.

- Depending on the type of device, you may not be able to use the Bluetooth function.

- You can enjoy a wireless system using a phone, MP3 player, notebook, etc.

- When not connected via Bluetooth, "BLUETOOTH" and "BT READY" appear on the control panel.

- If someone stands between the Bluetooth device and the player and interrupts communication, the connection will be disconnected.

- The greater the distance between the unit and the Bluetooth device, the lower the sound quality becomes.

- When the Bluetooth connection is disconnected, connect the Bluetooth device to the unit again.

- The Bluetooth function will be converted when connected via Bluetooth or NFC. (REC action is excluded.)

Pairing your unit and Bluetooth device through NFC Tag

About NFC Tag

Connect to the Bluetooth by using the Bluetooth devices that support NFC.

1. Activates the NFC feature of your NFC-enabled phone.
2. Turn on the unit.
3. Tag the back of your NFC-enabled phone over the unit.

1. Enter the PIN code. PIN code : 0000
2. Displayed on the unit if Bluetooth pairing is successful.
3. You can listen to music played on this unit using your Bluetooth device.

Note

• Please use a device which the NFC feature is available.
• NFC Recognition area may be different depending on the type of Bluetooth device. Please check the position of NFC recognition area of the Bluetooth device before tagging.
• If the screen of the Bluetooth device is locked, the device may not recognize the NFC Tag.
• In some cases, the device may not recognize the NFC.
• When the case of the Bluetooth devices is chrome-plated material.
• Accordance to the material and thickness of the case of Bluetooth devices.
• According to the performance of the NFC of the Bluetooth devices.
• Only available on Android devices with Jelly Bean (4.1.2 Version) or higher.
• You can disconnect the device by tagging again while connected to Bluetooth. Do not place the Bluetooth device on NFC Tag Location after connecting to a Bluetooth device.
• Depending on the Bluetooth device type, some devices have a different pairing way.

Troubleshooting

PROBLEM CORRECTION
No power Plug the power cord into the wall outlet securely.
No picture	Select the appropriate video input mode on the TV so the picture from the unit appears on the TV screen.
	Connect the video cables securely to both the TV and unit.
There is little or no sound	Select the correct input mode of the unit so you can hear the sound from the unit.
	Connect the audio cables into the connection terminals correctly.
	Replace with a new audio cable.
The DVD picture quality is poor	Clean the disc using a soft cloth with outward strokes.
A DVD/CD will not play	Insert a disc.
	Insert a playable disc (check the disc type, colour system and regional code).
	Enter your password or change the rating level.
Humming noise heard while a DVD or CD is playing	Clean the disc using a soft cloth with outward strokes.
	Move unit and audio components further away from your TV.
Radio stations can't be tuned in properly	Check the antenna connection and adjust its position.
	Attach an external aerial if necessary.
	Tune to the station manually.
	Preset some radio stations, see page 30 for details.
The remote control doesn't work well / at all	The remote is not pointed directly at the unit.Point the remote directly at the unit.
	The remote is too far from the unit.Use the remote within 7m of the unit.

Maintenance

Handling the Unit

When shipping the unit

Please save the original shipping carton and packing materials. If you need to ship the unit, for maximum protection, re-pack the unit as it was originally packed at the factory.

Keeping the exterior surfaces clean

• Do not use volatile liquids such as insecticide spray near the unit.
• Wiping with strong pressure may damage the surface.
• Do not leave rubber or plastic products in contact with the unit for a long period of time.

Cleaning the unit

To clean the player, use a soft, dry cloth. If the surfaces are extremely dirty, use a soft cloth lightly moistened with a mild detergent solution. Do not use strong solvents such as alcohol, benzine, or thinner, as these might damage the surface of the unit.

Maintaining the Unit

The unit is a high-tech, precision device. If the optical pick-up lens and disc drive parts are dirty or worn, the picture quality could be diminished. For details, please contact your nearest authorized service center.

Notes on Discs

Handling Discs

Do not touch the playback side of the disc. Hold the disc by the edges so that fingerprints do not get on the surface. Never stick paper or tape on the disc.

Storing Discs

After playing, store the disc in its case. Do not expose the disc to direct sunlight or sources of heat and never leave it in a parked car exposed to direct sunlight.

Cleaning Discs

Fingerprints and dust on the disc can cause poor picture quality and sound distortion. Before playing, clean the disc with a clean cloth. Wipe the disc from the center to out.

Do not use strong solvents such as alcohol, benzine, thinner, commercially available cleaners, or anti-static spray intended for older vinyl records.
