Place the base plate in the pot. Insert the float and the filling tube in the hole. Fill the pot with potting compost and put the plant in, just as in normal planting. When watering for the first time, pour water both on the compost and into the filling tube. After that, pour water into the filling tube up to the lower marking on the float. When the float indicates that the pot is empty, wait a couple of days before you fill in water to allow the compost to dry between water-rings. Fertilise by giving a slightly lower dose than that stated on the package.
