What mounting adapter do I need for the BD-20?

The Impact BD-20 requires a compatible mounting adapter (sold separately). For Impact/Bowens mount, use adapter BDA-IMP. See the manual for a full list of adapter catalog numbers and compatibility.

Can I use the BD-20 with a speedlight?

No, the BD-20 is designed for studio strobes and requires a mounting adapter. It is not compatible with hot-shoe speedlights unless they are specific monolights with a compatible mount.

Does the BD-20 come with a diffuser or grid?

No, the diffuser sock and honeycomb grid are sold separately. Order model 9031660 for the diffuser sock and BDG-20 for the 20" honeycomb grid.

What is the purpose of a beauty dish?

A beauty dish produces a soft, shadowless light with a natural catch light, ideal for fashion and portrait photography. It offers more contrast and texture than a softbox.

How do I attach the BD-20 to my strobe?

First, install the correct mounting adapter onto the beauty dish by sliding it into the brackets and tightening the thumbscrew. Then mount the dish onto your strobe per the strobe's manual.

Can I use the BD-20 with a constant light?

The BD-20 is designed for strobe (flash) use. Using with constant lights may cause overheating or damage; it is not recommended.

How do I clean the beauty dish?

Beauty Dish Reflector

INSTRUCTIONS

Introduction

Congratulations on the purchase of your Impact Beauty Dish. The Impact Beauty Dish is available in 16", 20", 22", and 27" versions. It features a neutral white reflector and mounts onto your strobe to reflect and diffuse light, creating a shadowless effect that offers greater contrast and texture than a softbox or an umbrella. Because beauty dishes produce a natural-looking catch light, they are ideal for fashion and portrait photography.

Note: The Beauty Dish requires the correct mounting adapter (sold separately) in order to mount onto your strobe.

Recommended Accessories

Additional accessories are available from Impact. Mount the Impact Beauty Dish to your strobe with an Impact Mounting Adapter. Attach an Impact Diffuser Sock to soften the light further, or an Impact Honeycomb Grid to change the intensity and shape of the light.

Setting Up Your Beauty Dish

In order to mount your Impact Beauty Dish, you will need to purchase and install the proper mounting adapter.

Remove the thumbscrew and washer by rotating the thumbscrew.

Slide the mounting adapter into the brackets on the back of the beauty dish.

Insert the thumbscrew and washer into the threaded hole and rotate clockwise to tighten.

Mount the Impact Beauty Dish onto your strobe light.

One-Year Limited Warranty

This IMPACT product is warranted to the original purchaser to be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal consumer use for a period of one (1) year from the original purchase date or thirty (30) days after replacement, whichever occurs later. The warranty provider's responsibility with respect to this limited warranty shall be limited solely to repair or replacement, at the provider's discretion, of any product that fails during normal use of this product in its intended manner and in its intended environment. Inoperability of the product or part(s) shall be determined by the warranty provider. If the product has been discontinued, the warranty provider reserves the right to replace it with a model of equivalent quality and function.

This warranty does not cover damage or defect caused by misuse, neglect, accident, alteration, abuse, improper installation or maintenance. EXCEPT AS PROVIDED HEREIN, THE WARRANTY PROVIDER MAKES NEITHER ANY EXPRESS WARRANTIES NOR ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. This warranty provides you with specific legal rights, and you may also have additional rights that vary from state to state.

To obtain warranty coverage, contact the Impact Customer Service Department to obtain a return merchandise authorization (“RMA”) number, and return the defective product to Impact along with the RMA number and proof of purchase. Shipment of the defective product is at the purchaser’s own risk and expense.
