Frequently Asked Questions - Palmdale 500 Lux Easy Camp

How many people does the Palmdale 500 Lux tent accommodate?
The tent is designed to accommodate up to 5 persons comfortably.
What is the best way to erect the tent?
Start by spreading the flysheet on clean, even ground. Assemble the fiberglass poles and push them through the color-coded sleeves. Place the pole ends over the pins in the rings, then fasten the hooks. Peg down through the metal rings using a mallet. Finally, hang the sleeping cabin using the provided straps and hooks.
How do I prevent condensation inside the tent?
To reduce condensation, remove wet clothing, increase ventilation by opening vents, and consider using an Easy Camp Footprint under the tent. Condensation is normal and not a leak.
Can I wash the tent in a washing machine?
No, never wash the tent in a washing machine or dry-clean it. Clean with a soft sponge and pure water. Allow to dry completely before packing.
How should I store the tent?
Store the tent in a dry place after ensuring it is completely dry to prevent mildew and rotting. Lightly grease metal poles with non-acidic oil before storage.
What should I do if the seam tape comes off?
Remove loose tape and reseal the seams using a seam sealer and waterproof spray. Prolonged sun exposure can cause tape to detach.
How do I protect the tent from strong winds?
Use storm pegs instead of standard pegs, and secure guylines. Avoid over-tightening the tent; it needs some flexibility. Do not use guylines to pull out pegs.
Can I use insecticide inside the tent?
No, do not spray insecticides in or on the tent as they can damage the fabric and coating. Use alternative insect repellents applied to skin or clothing.
What type of pegs should I use on hard ground?
For stony or hard ground, use U-form pegs which are stronger and easier to drive in. A mallet is recommended for all peg types.
How do I properly pack the tent after use?
Ensure the tent is completely dry. Detach the inner tent if wet. Remove pegs and guylines, gently push poles out of sleeves (do not pull), fold the tent with metal parts on one side to avoid damage. Roll the tent around the pole bag and fit into the carrybag.

USER MANUAL Palmdale 500 Lux Easy Camp

This tent should be erected by at least two people!

  1. When unpacking the tent, it is a good idea to familiarise yourself with how it should be repacked.
  2. Spread out the flysheet on an area that is as even and clean as possible.
  3. Assemble the fibreglass poles and push them through the sleeves marked with colour. The tent can now be raised by placing the ends of the poles down over the pins fastened in the rings. Then fasten the hooks on the flysheet to the poles.
  4. Position the tent as required. Peg it down through the metal and elastic rings. Use a mallet to secure the pegs in the ground but be careful of your hands and feet when hitting the peg.
  5. The sleeping cabin can now be hung in the tent, using the straps with rings provided for the purpose and then attach the cabin to the floor with the hooks.
  6. Secure the tent against strong winds with guylines and pegs.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE TIPS

Get the most out of your camping trip by having a trial run, putting up and taking down your new tent in order to know it before you use it for the first time.

Condensation should not be confused with leakage

Under certain weather conditions, condensation can occur on the inside surfaces of your tent. To help prevent this you must remove wet clothes etc., increase ventilation or erect your tent on an Easy Camp® Footprint.

The flysheet is made of waterproof material. To prevent water from seeping through the flysheet avoid touching the inside surface in rainy weather conditions.

When erecting your tent, do not secure it too tightly, otherwise it will not be able to adapt to varying wind and weather conditions.

If strong winds are expected, replace the normal tent pegs with storm pegs. Do not use guy-lines to pull out the tent pegs. For stony or hard ground stronger U-form pegs are recommended.

Insecticides must not be sprayed in or on the tent as they may damage the fabric and coating!

When taking down and packing the tent, it must be completely dry to avoid mildew/rotting. We recommend that after use all metal poles be lightly greased with a nonacidic oil.

Remove dirt from the tent with a soft sponge and pure water. Never wash the tent in a washing machine and never have it dry-cleaned.

Store the tent in a dry place.

Even though we have used special waterproof thread for all seams, we recommend that you use a seam sealer or a waterproof spray at regular intervals for all seams around the zips and toggles, these seams are some of the weaker points on your tent as there can be a lot of tension around them.

Please note that the tape may come off after prolonged exposure to the sun. If this happens you can repair your tent by removing loose tape and use a seam sealer and waterproof spray to re-seal seams. Be aware that (UV) ultraviolet rays will damage your tent if you expose it to direct sunlight for longer periods of time.

If your tent has a mud valance never use it to adjust the tent or use the mud valance to pull the tent pegs out. The mud valance is one of the weaker points on the tent as it is only designed to keep wind and water out of the living and storage area.

Taking down your tent

When detachable take out the groundsheet and clean it if necessary with a sponge and water. Clean dirty floors the same way. (Allow it to dry before packing the tent).

If the inner tent is wet or dirty, take it out and clean it, the tent can be packed down with or without the inner tent inside.

Unpeg the tent and the guylines. Release the ends of the poles and then gently push the poles through the sleeves. Do not pull the poles! Fold the tent so you have all metal eyelets or pins/rings at one side to prevent them from damaging the flysheet.

When you have folded the tent, measure it with the carrybag to make sure it is not too wide. You should now be able to roll the tent round the poles in their pole bag and fit it into the Easy Camp carrybag.
