Frequently Asked Questions - WS-1200 Ambient Weather
How do I set up the outdoor sensor array?
Mount the sensor array on a pole or flat surface using the included hardware. Ensure it is level and at least 5 feet above ground for accurate wind readings.
Why is my display not receiving data from the sensor?
Check that batteries are inserted correctly in both units. Ensure the wireless range is not exceeded (max 300 ft) and there are no obstructions like metal or concrete walls.
How do I calibrate the barometric pressure?
Go to the calibration menu in the console. Adjust the relative pressure to match a local weather report, then press SET to confirm.
Can I connect the WS-1200 to my computer?
Yes, via the optional USB data logger (sold separately). Software is available for download to view and log data on Windows.
What batteries does the sensor use?
The outdoor sensor uses 2 x AAA alkaline batteries (not included). The display uses 2 x AA batteries.
How often does the rainfall measurement update?
The rainfall reading updates every 10 seconds, and the total rainfall is stored in memory. The bucket tips for each 0.01 inch of rain.
Why is the temperature reading inaccurate?
Direct sunlight on the sensor can cause high readings. Install the sensor in a shaded area, or use the included radiation shield if available.
How do I set the time and date?
Press and hold the SET button for 3 seconds. Use the ▲/▼ buttons to adjust time zone, DST, and manually set the clock if the atomic signal is not received.
What does the forecast icon mean?
The icon shows a future weather trend (sunny, partly cloudy, rainy, etc.) based on barometric pressure changes. It is a prediction, not current conditions.
My sensor unit appears to be broken. Where can I get a replacement?
Contact Ambient Weather customer service for warranty or purchase of spare parts. The model number WS-1200 is needed for ordering.
