Frequently Asked Questions - EZ-HSX4 RDL
How do I set up the RDL EZ-HSX4 router?
Connect the router to your modem using an Ethernet cable, plug in the power adapter, and wait for the power LED to turn solid. Then connect a computer to the router via wireless or another Ethernet cable and open a web browser. Go to the default IP address (usually 192.168.1.1) and follow the on-screen configuration wizard.
What is the default login username and password?
The default login is usually admin for both the username and password. If this does not work, check the sticker on the router's bottom.
How can I reset the router to factory settings?
Use a paperclip to press and hold the reset button on the back panel for about 10 seconds until the power LED blinks. Release the button; the router will reboot with factory defaults.
What wireless security should I use?
It is recommended to use WPA2-PSK (AES) encryption for strong security. Avoid using WEP as it is outdated.
How many devices can connect to the router?
The EZ-HSX4 supports up to 30 wireless devices simultaneously, depending on bandwidth usage. The four LAN ports allow up to 4 wired devices.
Why is my internet speed slow?
Possible causes include: distance from the router, interference from other devices, too many connected devices, or outdated firmware. Try moving closer, changing the wireless channel, or updating the firmware via the router settings.
How do I update the firmware?
Log into the router's web interface, go to the administration or system tools section, and look for a firmware upgrade option. You can download the latest firmware from the RDL support website and upload it manually.
Can I use the router as a wireless access point?
Yes. Access the router settings and disable the DHCP server, then connect the router's WAN port to your main router's LAN port. This will turn it into an access point.
What do the LED lights mean?
Power: solid on indicates power is connected. WAN: solid or blinking indicates internet connection. LAN (1-4): solid means a device is connected, blinking indicates activity. WLAN: solid means wireless is enabled.
Is the router compatible with all ISPs?
The EZ-HSX4 supports standard Ethernet WAN connections, so it works with most cable, DSL, or fiber ISPs that provide an Ethernet modem or ONT. Some ISPs may require additional configuration for PPPoE or VLAN tagging.
