Frequently Asked Questions - XGPL-16000 Planet
How do I access the web interface of the Planet XGPL-16000?
Connect your computer to an Ethernet port on the switch. Set your IP to 192.168.0.x (subnet 255.255.255.0). Open a browser and go to the default IP: 192.168.0.100. Login with default credentials: admin / admin.
What is the maximum PoE power per port?
Each port supports up to 30W (IEEE 802.3at PoE+). However, total PoE budget is 240W, so the sum of all powered devices must not exceed that limit.
How can I reset the switch to factory defaults?
Press and hold the Reset button on the front panel for more than 10 seconds while powered on. The switch will reboot with factory settings. Alternatively, use the CLI command 'reset config'.
Can I use the SFP ports for uplink?
Yes, the 4 SFP ports are shared with the last 4 copper ports (Ports 13-16). If you insert an SFP module, the corresponding copper port is disabled. They support 1G SFP modules.
Does the switch support VLAN configuration?
Yes, it supports IEEE 802.1Q VLAN tagging with up to 4096 VLAN IDs. You can create, assign ports, and set up trunk links via the web GUI or CLI.
How do I update the firmware?
Download the latest firmware from Planet's support page. Go to System > Firmware Upgrade in the web GUI, select the file, and click 'Upgrade'. Do not power off during the process.
What should I do if a PoE device isn't powering on?
Check the total PoE consumption (see System > PoE). Ensure the device requires ≤30W and the budget is not exceeded. Try a different port. Also verify the cable is properly connected and the switch port PoE is enabled (default is enabled).
Can I stack multiple XGPL-16000 switches?
The XGPL-16000 does not support physical stacking. However, it supports standard Ethernet link aggregation (LACP) to combine ports for increased bandwidth between switches.
How do I configure port mirroring?
Go to Configuration > Port Mirror. Select a destination port (where the analyzer is connected), choose source ports and direction (RX, TX, or both). Apply settings.
What are the environmental operating limits?
The switch operates in temperatures from 0°C to 50°C (32°F to 122°F) and humidity 10% to 90% non-condensing. Ensure proper ventilation in the rack.
