Frequently Asked Questions - EE-6909 Crane

How do I clean the Crane EE-6909 humidifier?
Unplug the unit. Remove the water tank and empty it. Wipe the base and tank with a soft cloth dampened with white vinegar or a mild detergent. Rinse thoroughly. Clean the ultrasonic disc with a soft brush to remove mineral deposits. Let dry completely before reassembling.
Can I use essential oils with this humidifier?
No, the Crane EE-6909 is not designed for use with essential oils. Adding oils can damage the ultrasonic disc and void the warranty. Use only water.
Why is my humidifier not producing mist?
Check that the unit is plugged in and the water tank is filled. The auto shut-off may have activated if the tank is empty. Also, mineral buildup on the ultrasonic disc can reduce mist. Clean the disc with a soft brush. Ensure the mist nozzle is not blocked.
How do I adjust the mist output?
Most Crane humidifiers have a rotary knob on the front or side. Turn it clockwise to increase mist output and counterclockwise to decrease. Adjust to your desired humidity level.
Is the humidifier safe to use around pets?
Yes, the cool mist is safe for pets. However, keep the unit out of reach to avoid spills. Ensure the cord is secured to prevent chewing.
What type of water should I use?
Use distilled or demineralized water to reduce mineral buildup. Tap water can cause white dust and scale on the ultrasonic disc. If using tap water, clean more frequently.
How long does the water last?
At low mist setting, the 1-gallon tank can run up to 24 hours. At high setting, it may last around 12 hours. Actual time varies with humidity and room conditions.
What does the auto shut-off feature do?
The humidifier automatically turns off when the water tank is empty or if the unit is tipped over. This prevents damage and ensures safety. Simply refill the tank and restart.
Why is there water leaking from the humidifier?
Check the water tank for cracks or damage. Ensure the tank is properly seated on the base. The rubber gasket may be dirty or misaligned; clean it gently. Overfilling can also cause leaks—fill to the indicated line.
How do I replace the ultrasonic disc?
The ultrasonic disc is a spare part. If needed, purchase a replacement disc compatible with Crane EE-6909. To replace, unplug the unit, remove the tank, unscrew the disc cover, lift out the old disc, and install the new one. Tighten the cover gently and reassemble.
