Frequently Asked Questions - DS81 Shuttle

How do I assemble the Shuttle DS81 barbecue?
Follow the step-by-step instructions in the manual. You will need a Phillips screwdriver. Use the included hardware and assemble in the order shown in diagrams.
What type of charcoal should I use?
Use lump charcoal or briquettes. Avoid using lighter fluid on hot coals. For best results, use a chimney starter.
How long does it take to reach cooking temperature?
With a full chimney of lit coals, the grill heats up in about 15-20 minutes. Wait until coals are covered with white ash before cooking.
Can I use the barbecue in windy conditions?
Avoid using in strong winds as it can cause uneven heating and fire hazard. Place in a sheltered area if possible.
How do I clean the cooking grates?
After grilling, brush grates with a stainless steel wire brush while still warm. For deep cleaning, soak in warm soapy water and scrub.
Is the barbecue safe for use on wooden decks?
Use a heat-resistant mat under the grill. Maintain at least 3 feet clearance from structures. Never leave unattended.
What is the ash catcher for?
The removable ash catcher collects falling ash for easy disposal. Empty it when full to maintain airflow.
Can I use the barbecue in the rain?
No. Using in rain can cause rust and safety issues. Always cover when not in use.
How do I adjust the temperature?
Open or close the air vents on the lid and bottom. More air = higher heat, less air = lower heat.
Where can I find replacement parts?
Contact Shuttle customer service or visit their website. Common parts like grates and ash catchers are available for purchase.

Starting BIOS

AMIBIOS has been integrated into many motherboards for over a decade. In the past, people often referred to the AMIBIOS setup menu as BIOS, BIOS setup, or CMOS setup.

American Megatrends refers to this setup as BIOS. Specifically, it is the name of the AMIBIOS BIOS setup utility. This chapter describes the basic navigation of the BIOS setup screens.

Enter the BIOS

To enter the BIOS setup screens, follow the steps below:

Step 1. Power on the motherboard.

Step 2. Press the key on your keyboard when you see the following text prompt: Press DEL to run Setup.

Step 3. After you press the key, the main BIOS setup menu displays. You can access the other setup screens from the main BIOS setup menu, such as the Chipset and Power menus.

This manual describes the standard look of the BIOS setup screen. The motherboard manufacturer has the ability to change any and all of the settings described in this manual. This means that some of the options described in this manual do not exist in your motherboard's AMIBIOS.

The right frame displays the key legend. Above the key legend is an area reserved for a text message. When an option is selected in the left frame, it is highlighted in white.

Often a text message will accompany it.

Shuttle DS81 - BIOS Setup Menu - 1

AMIBIOS has default text messages built into it. The motherboard manufacturer retains the option to include, leave out, or change any of these text messages. They can also add their own text messages. Because of this, many screen shots in this manual are different from your BIOS setup screen.

The BIOS setup/utility uses a key-based navigation system called hot keys. Most of the BIOS setup utility hot keys can be used at any time during the setup navigation process. These keys include , , , , keys, and so on.
