How do I set up the camera for first use?

Insert 8 AA batteries (preferably lithium for cold weather) and an SD card (up to 32GB, not included). Slide the power switch to ON. The camera will enter standby mode. Refer to the user manual for menu settings.

What is the trigger speed and detection range?

The trigger speed is between 0.6 and 1.0 seconds. The PIR sensor detects motion up to 20 meters, depending on temperature and animal size.

Can I use a rechargeable power source?

Yes, you can use 8x AA rechargeable NiMH batteries. Alternately, an external 6V DC power supply (sold separately) can be connected via the DC jack.

How do I enable night vision?

Night vision is automatic. When light levels fall, the camera activates invisible infrared LEDs. Ensure no obstructions block the IR LEDs for best performance.

What is the maximum SD card capacity supported?

The camera supports SD and SDHC cards up to 32GB. Cards must be formatted in FAT32. High-capacity SDXC cards are not supported.

How can I view the recorded photos/videos?

You can remove the SD card and read it on a computer using a card reader. Alternatively, connect the camera via USB cable (included) to transfer files.

How do I disable the red status LED for stealth?

In the camera menu, navigate to LED Control and set it to Off. This prevents the status LED from glowing during operation.

What is the battery life expectancy?

With 8x AA alkaline batteries in standby mode, the camera can last up to 6 months. Actual life depends on temperature, number of triggers, and video length.

Is the camera weatherproof?

Yes, it has an IP54 rating, meaning it is splash-proof and dust-resistant. It can withstand rain, but should not be submerged in water.

How do I reset the camera to factory settings?

01 | SAFETY HINTS

• Your camera is fitted with a weatherproof housing according to protection class IP54 (dust and splash waterproof). So the camera can be used outdoors. Nevertheless protect the camera from extreme weather conditions and direct sunlight.
• Make sure to use fresh batteries of the same type and brand only. When inserting the batteries please respect the correct polarity (+/-). Please remove batteries when device is not in use for a longer period. Also note capture "Safety Hints for Batteries".
• Do not use re-chargeable batteries. They may lead to malfunction.
  • LED bulbs cannot be replaced.
• Do not drop the camera onto a hard surface. Do not use the camera if it has been dropped. In this case a qualified electrician should inspect the camera before you use it again.
• Do not attempt to repair the devise by yourself. Risk of electrical shock! When service or repair is required, contact qualified service personnel.
• Do not open the camera housing (except the protective cover and the battery cover) – the warranty will become void. The housing may only be opened by qualified DÖRR GmbH staff.
  • People with cardiac pacemakers, defibrillators or any other electrical implants should maintain a minimum distance of 30 cm, as the device generates magnetic fields.
  • People with physical or cognitive disabilities should use the camera with supervision.
• Do not use the camera nearby mobile phones and devices that generate strong electromagnetic fields (e.g. electric engines).
• Avoid touching the camera lens with your fingers.
• Protect the camera against extensive dirt. Never use aggressive cleansing agents or benzine to clean the camera. We recommend a soft microfiber cloth to clean the outer parts of the camera and the camera lens. Make sure to remove batteries before cleaning.
• Store the camera in a dust-free, dry and cool place.
• This device is not a toy. To prevent accidents and suffocation keep the device, the accessories and the packing materials away from children and pets.
• If the camera is defective or without any further use, dispose of the camera according to the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive WEEE. For further information, please contact your local authorities.

02 | SAFETY HINTS FOR BATTERIES

Only use high-quality batteries of popular brands. When inserting the batteries, please respect the correct polarity (+/-). Do not insert batteries of different types and always replace all batteries at the same time. Do not combine used batteries with fresh batteries. Please remove batteries when device is not in use for a longer period. Do not throw the batteries into fi re, do not short-circuit and do not disassemble them! Never charge non-rechargeable batteries – risk of explosion! Remove empty batteries immediately from the device to avoid the leaking of battery acid. Remove leaking batteries from the device immediately. Clean the contacts before inserting fresh batteries. Risk of battery acid burn! In case of contact with battery acid, rinse the affected area immediately with water and contact a doctor. Batteries can be dangerous to life if swallowed. Keep batteries away from small children and pets. Do not dispose of batteries in household waste (see also capture "Disposal of Batteries/Accumulators").

06 | FIRST USE

06.1 INSERTING BATTERIES

Open the camera releasing the lateral tension lock (6). Make sure the slide control (9) is in position OFF.

CAUTION

To avoid camera damages always make sure that camera slide control (18) is switched to position OFF when inserting batteries or changing SD card!

Insert 4, 8 or 12 AA/1,5 V batteries (optional) into the battery compartment (16). Pay attention to the correct polarity (+/-). Make sure to use fresh high-quality batteries of the same brand. To setup the camera, 4 batteries (6 V) are sufficient. In observation mode please use 12 batteries. For best results we recommend the use of Panasonic Alkaline manganese batteries (optionally available from DÖRR).

CAUTION

Do not use rechargeable batteries. They may lead to malfunction.

06.2 ALTERNATIVE POWER SUPPLY

Alternatively your camera can be operated with an external 6 V lead battery (battery cable required) or an AC Adapter 100-240 V (all optionally available from DÖRR). The 6 V battery as well as the AC adapter need to be connected to the cameras DC 5-12 V connection (20). Any inserted batteries do not need to be removed when using external power supplies. The camera automatically reverts to the inserted batteries as soon as the external power supply is disconnected.

The LCD display (8) shows the symbol → when an external power supply is successfully connected.

06.3 INSERTING SD/SDHC MEMORY CARD

Insert a SD/SDHC memory card (optional) with the label facing upwards into the SD card slot (18). Make sure that the SD card is formatted and unlocked. The camera supports SD/SDHC memory cards from 2 GB up to 32 GB. For best results we recommend the use of LEXAR brand "Class 10" memory cards (optionally available from DÖRR).

Switch the slide control (9) to position SETUP. The LCD display (8) will show real time image and the basic settings.

07.2 MENU LANGUAGE

First please choose your desired menu language. The preselected menu language is German. In order to change the cameras menu language, press the menu button (10) then the arrow button ▶(14) until you reach the menu register (LYS).

Press the arrow button ▼(13) and select the menu point "Sprache" (language). Confi rm with OK button (15). Now navigate to the desired language (English, French, Italian, Hungarian, Norwegian, Swedish, Czech, Danish, Finnish) using the arrow buttons ▲(12) or ▼(13). Confi rm your selection with OK button (15). Press the menu button (10) to return to the main screen.

08 | CHANGING THE SETTINGS

In order to change the pre-settings, switch the slide control (9) to SETUP position and press the menu button (10). A list of the various menu registers appears in the LCD display (8):

• In order to switch the menu register, press the arrow buttons (1) or (11)
• To choose a menu point within the menu register, press the arrow buttons ▼(13) o ▲(12). The chosen menu point is highlighted blue
- Press the OK button (15) to confirm your selection – the active selection is marked with a star (*).
- If no input is detected, the camera automatically switches off after 3 minutes. In order to enter setup mode again, turn the camera OFF and switch the slide control (9) to SETUP position again.

09.1 CAMERA MODE

Select whether the camera should record a single image ("Photo"), a video sequence ("Video") or a combination of picture and video("Picture+Video"). Photos are stored in format .JPG, while videos have the format .MOV.

10.1.1 PIR TRIGGER

The Passive Infrared Sensor (PIR) triggers upon motion or detection of temperature changes within the PIR detection zone.

10.1.2 TIME LAPSE

The camera releases a picture in the selected interval, regardless of PIR sensor.

Example: Setting 4 hours camera releases a picture every 4 hours

10.1.3 BOTH (COMBINATION)

A combination out of PIR Interval and Time Lapse.

10.2 PIR SENSITIVITY

Choose the sensitivity of the PIR sensor:

Auto: Intelligent PIR trigger adjustment

Low: Reduces false triggering caused by environmental influences (e.g. moving branches, strong direct sunlight or small animals right in front of the PIR etc.)

High: PIR recognizes even small movement or differences in temperature

10.3 PIR INTERVAL

Select the duration during the PIR detection is paused until set active again.

Example: Setting 5 minutes Camera releases and then is forced to standby for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes the PIR sensor is activated again and the camera is ready for the next release.

Work Time 1-4

Set the working time of the camera. Outside of the working time & days set, the camera will not be active (standby) and it is turning to power saving mode (Standby). You can select the start and stop times, as well as all or individual days of the week. For Work Time 2-4 repeat the steps as described for Work Time 1. Per day max. 4 Work Times selectable. If a Work Time is set, the LCD display (8) shows the symbol 📋.

If functions is OFF the camera will be active 24 hours.

12.1 SET CLOCK (DATE AND TIME)

Enter date in format DD/MM/YYYY (day/month/year), MM/DD/YYYY (month/day/year) or YYYY/MM/DD (year/month/day). Time has to be set to 24 hours format HH:MM:SS (hours, minutes, seconds).

12.2 LANGUAGE

Choose the desired camera menu language: English, French, Italian, Hungarian, Norwegian, Swedish, Czech, Danish, Finnish.

12.3 PASSWORD

Secure the camera with a password to avoid misuse. The password is needed every time the slide control (9) is switched to SETUP position. Without the correct password it is impossible to operate the camera properly. The default password is 0000. Note your password carefully, without the password the camera cannot be operated.

12.4 RENAME

Set "On" (recommended): It is now possible to enter a name for the camera. Enter a name using up to 8 characters. The name appears on each image.

CAUTION

Please enter the name in one word using letters and numbers only. Do not use any special characters or blanks!

12.5 BEEP

Activate or deactivate the beep tone for the control buttons.

12.6 OVERWRITE

Set "On": As soon as the SD card is full, the camera will overwrite the oldest pictures with new ones.

Set "Off": As soon as the SD card is full, the camera will stop recording until the SD card is changed or SD card is formatted.

12.7 FORMAT SD CARD

This function deletes all data on the SD card.

CAUTION

Make sure that you do not need the fi les on the SD card anymore, before you start formatting!

12.8 DEFAULT

This function restores all settings to initial factory settings (except date and time).

12.9 SOFTWARE VERSION

Shows the software version of camera – no settings possible.

13 | TEST PHOTO AND VIDEO

In SETUP mode a test picture or video can be released and viewed directly. Switch the slide control (9) to position SETUP.

13.1 TEST PHOTO

Press the release button SHOT ▶(14) to release a test picture. Press the Playback button (15) to display the test photo.

13.2 TEST VIDEO

Press the arrow button ▲(12) to switch to video mode. You can see the symbol (▶) in the top-left corner in the LCD display (8). Press the release button SHOT ▶(14) to start recording. To stop recording, press the release button SHOT ▶(14) again. To display the start frame of the video, press the Playback button ▶(15). To play the test video, press the release button SHOT ▶(14). To stop the playback, press the release button SHOT ▶(14) again.

With the OK button (15) you will return to main/live screen.

14.1 WATCHING PHOTOS

Switch the slide control (9) to position SETUP. Press OK button (15). The latest record appears on screen. Whether if it is a picture or a video you may see in the top left corner on the LCD display (8):

Browse through your records with the arrow buttons ▲(12) or ▼13).

14.1.1 ZOOM FUNCTION

If the record is a photo ▶ you can zoom in all areas of the picture. Press the ◀ ZOOM button (11) repeatedly, until you reached the desired zoom factor. The zoom factor 1,3x/1,7x/2,1x/2,5x/2,8x/3,2x/3,6x/max.4x is shown in the below left corner of the display. Press the OK button (15). With the arrow buttons ◀/▶ ▲ you can move within the image. The zoom area is marked with an orange square in the check box:

To exit the zoom mode, press the menu button (10).

14.2 VIDEO PLAYBACK

If the record is a video □, press the arrow button ▶(14). to play the video on the LCD display. With the OK button (15) you will return to main screen.

CAUTION

Once deleted, you can not restore pictures or videos again!

14.3.1 DELETE SINGLE PICTURE/VIDEO

Switch the slide control (9) to position SETUP. Press the OK button (15). Select the picture/video you want to delete with the arrow buttons ▲(12) or ▼3). Press the menu button (10). Select "Delete One" with arrow buttons ▲(12) or ▼(13). Confirm the deletion with OK button (15) and reconfirm with "Yes" (delete) or "No" to cancel the deletion.

14.3.2 DELETE ALL PHOTOS AND VIDEOS

Switch the slide control (9) to position SETUP. Press the OK button (15). Select any picture/video with the arrow buttons ▲(12) or ▼(13). Press the menu button (10). Select "Delete All" with arrow buttons ▲(12) or ▼(13). Confirm the deletion with OK button (15) and reconfirm with "Yes" (delete) or "No" to cancel the deletion. This deletes all pictures and videos from the SD card!

15 | MOUNTING THE CAMERA

Pull the supplied mounting strap through the eyelet (21) on the rear side of the camera and mount the camera to a tree, pole or any suitable object. Do not fully tighten the belt at this stage. The optimum distance to the observed object is between 3 - 10 meters. Larger distances are also possible, however with less reliability of the motion sensor. We recommend to direct the camera fi rst (read chapter 16) and to take a few test shots (refer to chapter 13) before finally fixing the camera.

Our optional accessories such as the patented DÖRR holding fixture are designed for fast and easy mounting of the camera at a tree, wall or other object. The camera clicks into the holding fixture and is firmly held in the place. The camera can be removed easily for a quick change of place of action. The ball head with fixing screw ensures a flexible direction of the camera. The fi x ture is rotatable by 360° and swivels up to 30° in all directions.

With an additional cable lock (optional) pulled through the specific eyelets (22) on the rear side of the camera, your camera will be secured against theft.

16 | ORIENTATION OF THE CAMERA

1. Fix the camera at a height of 0,75 m to 1,00 m and slightly tilt it forward. The camera lens (5) should now point to the position, where the object of photography or filming is expected.
2. Switch the slide control (9) to the position SETUP and close the camera housing. When moving in front of the camera, the LED indicator (2) flashes red. The red LED (2) will flash as long as movement is detected within the motion detector range.
3. We recommend to take a test picture now. Switch the slide control (9) to position ON and close the camera housing. After approx. 30s the camera is ready to detect - while camera is preparing, the red LED (2) is flashing.
4. After the LED indicator (2) turned off, move with normal speed through detection area in front of camera. The camera releases a picture. Watch the picture on LCD display (8) as described in chapter 14.1. The camera should be oriented in a way that the object will appear in the center of the picture. You may have to re-adjust the camera and take another test shot.
5. Once the camera position is correct, tighten the mounting belt firmly.

NOTE To change the camera angle you may use e.g. a small wooden wedge and clamp it between camera and trunk.

17 | START SURVEILLANCE

In order to get the camera ready to work, switch the slide control (9) to position ON and close the camera housing. After approx. 15 - 30 sec. the camera will be in surveillance mode and in case of detected movements, it takes pictures/videos according to your settings.

18 | CAMERA INSPECTION

There are various possibilities to check if pictures/videos have been taken:

1. Open the camera and move the slide control (9) to position OFF. After 1-2 seconds switch the slide control (9) to position SETUP. The LCD Display (8) shows the main/live screen. The bottom line shows how many pictures have been taken and how many still fit on the SD card (e.g. 000034/001846 m). Press the playback button ▶ (15) to view the images on the LCD display (8).
2. Alternatively, you can view the images comfortably on your home PC or a device with SD card slot.

CAUTION:

To avoid camera damages, always make sure the slide control (9) is in position OFF before removing the SD card.

NOTE

When checking the camera function, always check the battery status. If the batteries are no longer providing sufficient power, there may be deficiencies with the quality of the pictures, especially with nightly shots since the flash may require more energy than what the discharged batteries can supply. In case of doubt,

exchange batteries.

19 | CLEANING AND STORAGE

Never use aggressive cleansing agents or benzine to clean the device. We recommend a soft, slightly damp microfiber cloth to clean the outer parts of the device. Make sure to remove the batteries before cleaning! Store the device in a dust-free, dry and cool place. This device is not a toy – keep it out of reach of children. Keep the device away from pets.

20 | IMPORTANT INFORMATION AND TIPS

20.1 SD CARDS

The camera only works with a SD/SDHC card. There are SD/SDHC cards which may not work with the DÖRR SnapShot and may affect the function of the camera. Usually it helps to use another SD/SDHC card of other brand or different capacity. We recommend using a SDHC card with a capacity of 8 GB up to max. 32 GB. (e.g. Lexar cards, optionally available from DÖRR).

20.2 MOTION DETECTOR

The motion detector will react under certain circumstances and within a certain range. The recognition of objects depends on temperature, vegetal cover, reflecting surfaces etc. Under optimum conditions, this means a perfectly orientated camera and high sensitivity level adjustment, the recognition range can be up to 20 m. Usually, you may expect a range of 10 m. It may take a few attempts to find the proper position for your camera. When you test the motion detector reaction, be aware of the fact that animals are usually remarkably smaller than human beings. They might be under the PIR detection range and not be recognised.

20.3 LIGHT CONDITIONS

When you choose the camera position, avoid direct back light as you do in normal photography.

20.4 WEATHER PROTECTION

Although the camera is weatherproof and well-suited for outdoor use (dust and splash waterproof according to protection class IP54), we recommend mounting the camera in a secured place and if possible not on the weather side or in direct sunshine. After long periods of humidity caused by rain or fog, the camera should be stored in a dry area for a few days.
