To avoid the risk of accidents and damage to the appliance, please read these instructions carefully before using it for the first time. They contain important notes on installation, safety, use and maintenance.
Miele cannot be held liable for non-compliance with these instructions.
Keep these instructions in a safe place and ensure that new users are familiar with the contents. Pass them on to any future owner.
Use
This appliance is intended for use in the home and similar environments.
This appliance is not intended for use outdoors, in damp environments, or in places exposed to rain.
This appliance is intended for domestic use only for cooling and storing food and drink, as well as for storing deep-frozen food, freezing fresh food, and making ice.
Any other usage is not supported by the manufacturer and could be dangerous.
This appliance is not suitable for storing and keeping cool medicines, blood plasma, laboratory preparations, or other such materials or products. Incorrect use of the appliance for such purposes can cause deterioration of the items stored. The appliance is not suitable for use in areas where there is a risk of explosion. Miele cannot be held liable for damage resulting from improper or incorrect use of the appliance.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
People who lack physical, sensory, or mental abilities, or experience with the appliance should not use it without supervision or have been instructed how to use it in a safe way and recognize and understand the consequences of incorrect operation.
Children
To reduce the risk of injury, do not allow children to play in, on, or near the appliance. Ensure that any packing material is disposed of safely and kept out of the reach of children. Danger of suffocation!
Technical safety
The refrigerant system is tested for leaks. This appliance complies with statutory safety requirements. This appliance contains the refrigerant Isobutane (R600a), a natural gas which is environmentally friendly. Although it is combustible, it does not damage the ozone layer and does not increase the greenhouse effect.
The use of this refrigerant has, however, led to a slight increase in the noise level of the appliance. In addition to the noise of the compressor, you might be able to hear the refrigerant flowing around the system. This is unavoidable, and does not have any adverse effect on the performance of the appliance.
Care must be taken during the transportation and setting up of the appliance that no parts of the cooling system are damaged. Leaking refrigerant can cause severe irritation to the eyes.
In the event of any damage:
- avoid open flames and anything that creates a spark,
- disconnect the appliance from the electrical power supply,
- ventilate the room where the appliance is located for several minutes, and
- contact Miele Technical Service.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
The more coolant there is in an appliance, the larger the room it should be installed in. In the event of a leakage, if the appliance is in a small room, there is the danger of combustible gases building up. For every 11 g of coolant at least 1 m^3 of room space is required. The amount of coolant in the appliance is stated on the data plate inside the appliance. To avoid the risk of damage to the appliance, make sure that the connection data (fuse rating, frequency and voltage) on the data plate corresponds to the household supply.
Check that this is the case before connecting the appliance. Consult a qualified electrician if in any doubt.
The electrical safety of the appliance can only be guaranteed when correctly earthed. It is essential that this standard safety requirement is met. If in any doubt please have the electrical installation tested by a qualified electrician. Reliable and safe operation of this appliance can only be assured if it has been connected to the mains electricity supply. If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by a Miele authorized technician in order to protect the user from harm. Do not connect the appliance to the electrical supply with a power bar or extension cord. These are a fire hazard and do not guarantee the required safety of the appliance. Do not use the appliance in areas where there may be moisture or splashing water (e.g., garages, laundry rooms, etc.). Moisture can reach the electrical components and cause a short circuit. This appliance must not be installed and operated in mobile installations (e.g. on a ship). Do not use a damaged appliance. It could be dangerous. Check the appliance for visible signs of damage. For safety reasons, this appliance may only be used after it has been built in.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
The appliance must be disconnected from the electrical supply during installation, maintenance and repair work, and installation work on the water connection. The appliance is only completely isolated from the electrical supply when:
– the circuit breaker has been tripped, or - the power cord has been unplugged. Pull on the plug and not on the cord when removing it from the outlet.
Installation, repair and maintenance work should be performed by a Miele authorized service technician in accordance with national and local safety codes and the provided installation instructions. Contact Miele's Technical Service Department for examination, repair or adjustment.
The ice cube maker is not intended to be used with a hot water supply line.
The manufacturer's warranty will be invalidated if the appliance is not repaired by a Miele approved service technician.
Defective components should only be replaced by Miele original parts. Only with these parts can the manufacturer guarantee the safety of the appliance.
Proper use
The appliance is designed for use within a certain climate range (ambient temperatures), and should not be used outside this range. The climate range for your appliance is stated on the data plate inside the appliance. Installing it in a room with too low an ambient temperature, e.g. a garage, will lead to the appliance switching off for longer periods so that it cannot maintain the required temperature. ▶ WARNING! Danger of overheating! Do not cover or block the air vents. This can impair the efficiency of the appliance, increase the power consumption and cause damage to the appliance. If storing food which contains a lot of fat or oil in the appliance, make sure that it does not come into contact with plastic components as this could cause stress cracks or break the plastic. Do not store explosive materials in the appliance or any products containing propellants (e.g. spray cans). Electrical components could cause flammable vapors to ignite.
Danger of fire and explosion. Do not operate any electrical equipment (e.g. an electric ice cream maker) inside the appliance.
Danger of sparking and explosion. Do not store cans or bottles containing carbonated drinks or liquids which could freeze in the freezer section. The cans or bottles could burst, causing injury or damage. When cooling drinks quickly in the freezer section, make sure that bottles are not left in for more than one hour; otherwise they could burst, causing injury or damage. ▶ Never handle frozen food or the metal parts of the appliance with wet hands. Your hands may freeze to the frozen food or to the metal. Danger of frost burn!
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Do not take ice cubes out with your bare hands and never place ice cubes or popsicles in your mouth straight from the freezer section. The very low temperature of the frozen ice or popsicles can cause frost burn to the lips and tongue. Danger of injury. Do not refreeze partially or fully defrosted food. Consume defrosted food as soon as possible, as it will lose its nutritional value and spoil if left for too long. Defrosted food may only be refrozen after it has been cooked. When eating stored food, there is a danger of food poisoning. Storage times will depend on several factors, including the freshness and quality of the food, as well as the temperature at which it is stored. Observe the manufacturer's "use-by" dates and storage instructions. ▶ Use only genuine original Miele parts. If parts or accessories from other manufacturers are used, the warranty may become invalid.
Cleaning and care
Do not use any oil or grease on the door seals. They can cause the seals to deteriorate over time. Never use a steam cleaner to clean the appliance. The steam can reach the electrical components and cause a short circuit. Sharp edged or pointed objects will damage the evaporator, causing irreversible damage to the appliance. Do not use sharp edged or pointed objects to
remove frost or ice,
separate frozen foods or remove ice trays.
Never place electric heaters or candles in the appliance to defrost it. These can damage the plastic parts. Do not use defrosting sprays or de-icers, as they could contain substances which could damage the plastic parts or which might cause the build-up of gases and pose a danger to health. Rinse the ice cube maker and the water supply line:
before using for the first time, if the ice cube maker hasn't been used for a long time, regularly (at least once a month) if the ice cube maker is constantly on to remove residual ice (and prevent the water supply line from becoming blocked), and before switching the ice cube maker off for a long time.

Transport
To avoid damage to the appliance, always transport it upright and in its packaging. Danger of injury and damage. The appliance is very heavy and must be transported by two people.
Disposal of your old appliance
Children could become trapped in the appliance and could suffocate. Remove the appliance doors. Remove the drawers. Leave the shelves in the appliance so children cannot climb inside. Danger of electric shock!
Cut the plug off the power cord.
Cut the power cord off the old appliance.
Dispose of them separately from the appliance.
▶ Ensure that the appliance is not stored in the vicinity of gasoline or inflammable gases and liquids during and after disposal. ▶ Make sure that the coolant pipework is not damaged during disposal to avoid uncontrolled leakage of oil and coolant (see data plate for coolant type). Before disposing of an old appliance, first make the door latches or locks unusable.
This way you will prevent children from accidentally locking themselves in and endangering their lives.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
▶ Splashes of coolant can cause damage to the eyes. Be careful not to damage any part of the pipework while awaiting disposal, e.g. by
- puncturing the coolant channels in the evaporator,
- kinking any pipework,
- scratching the surface coating.
Symbol on the compressor (depending on model)
This information is only relevant for recycling. In normal operation there is no risk.

The oil in the compressor can be fatal if swallowed or if it penetrates the airways.
Disposal of packaging material
The packaging is designed to protect the appliance from damage during transportation. The packaging materials used are selected from materials which are environmentally friendly for disposal and should be recycled.
Ensure that any plastic wrappings, bags, etc. are disposed of safely and kept out of the reach of children. Return the packaging to your dealer.
Disposal of your old appliance
Electrical and electronic appliances contain valuable materials. They also contain certain substances, compounds and components which were essential for the proper functioning and safe use of the equipment. Handling these materials improperly by disposing of them in your household waste can be harmful to your health and the environment. Therefore, please do not dispose of your old appliance with regular household waste and follow local regulations on proper disposal.

Consult with local authorities, dealers or Miele in order to dispose of and recycle electrical and electronic appliances. Miele assumes no responsibility for deleting any personal data left on the appliance being disposed.
Take care not to damage the pipework at the back of your appliance before or during transportation to an authorized, environmentally friendly collection depot.
This way, coolant in the pipework and oil in the compressor will be contained, and will not leak into the environment.
Please ensure that your old appliance does not pose a danger to children while being stored prior to disposal. See "IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS" for more information.

Bottle holder
The non-slip fins of the bottle holder jut out into the bottle shelf and make bottles more secure when you open and close the appliance door.

Cool pack
The cool pack prevents the temperature in the freezer rising too quickly in the event of a power outage. This can help prolong the storage time.
The cool pack will be at its most effective after it has been in the freezer for approx. 24 hours.

A range of useful Miele accessories and care products are available for your appliance.
Stainless steel maintenance
The stainless steel cleaning cloth is impregnated with stainless steel conditioner for optimum cleaning and protection.
Each application of the Miele stainless steel conditioner (supplied in a bottle) forms a water and dirt repellent protective coating. It gently removes water marks, fingerprints and other dirt for a uniformly shiny surface.
Bottle rack
Bottles can be stored horizontally using the bottle rack to save space.
The bottle rack can be placed at different positions in the refrigerator section.
KKF-FF Active AirClean carbon filter with holder
Carbon filters neutralize unpleasant odors in the refrigerator section for improved air quality.

The carbon filter holder clips onto the protective strip at the back of the shelf and can be moved as necessary.
KKF-RF Active AirClean replacement filters
Replacement filters to fit the Active AirClean holder are available. We recommend replacing the carbon filters every 6 months.
Accessories are available to order via the Miele Webstore, from Miele directly (see back cover for contact details) or from your Miele dealer.
Before first use
Packaging material
Remove all packaging material from the inside of the appliance.
Protective film
The stainless steel trim on the interior shelves and door shelves in the appliance has a layer of protective film to prevent scratching in transit.
Remove this protective film once the appliance has been installed.
Cleaning and care
Please refer to the relevant instructions in "Cleaning and care".
Important: Each time it is used, the Miele Stainless Steel Cleaner forms a water-repellant and dirt-repellant protective coating.
Treat stainless steel surfaces with Miele Stainless Steel Cleaner immediately after removing the protective film (see "Guide to the appliance - Optional accessories"). Clean the inside of the appliance and the accessories. Clean the ice cube maker: Select the "Rinse ice cube maker" setting and the ice cube maker and the water supply line will automatically be rinsed out with water.
Operating the appliance
A light touch on the sensors is all that is required to operate this appliance.
A tone will sound each time a sensor is touched. You can deactivate this if you wish (see "Selecting additional settings - Audible signals").
Switching on the appliance
Once the appliance is connected to the electricity supply, the power supply symbol -C= will soon appear on the display.

Touch the On/Off button.
The power supply symbol -C= will go out and the appliance will start to cool.
The sensors for the available sections will appear on the control panel:




The section sensor is highlighted in yellow and the current temperature in this section appears on the display.
When the door is opened, the interior lighting comes on and the LED lighting on the shelves becomes brighter until it reaches its maximum brightness.
When the appliance is switched on for the first time, the sensor for the freezer section and the alarm symbol ⚠️ will flash until the set temperature is reached.
As soon as the set temperature is reached, the sensor for the freezer section will light up (continuous light) and the alarm symbol ⚠ go out.
To ensure that the appliance is cold enough, allow the appliance to run for a few hours before putting any food in it. Do not put food in the freezer section until the temperature is at least down to 0° F (-18 ° C).
Individual settings can be set for each section.

Touch the sensor for the section in which you want to adjust the settings.
The selected sensor will light up in yellow.
You can now select the automatic SuperCool function or adjust the temperature for the refrigerator section.
You can select the automatic SuperFreeze function or adjust the temperature for the freezer section.
Please refer to the relevant section for more information.
If another section is then selected, the settings for the previously selected section will remain as they were.
Switching off the appliance

Touch the on/off button.
If this is not possible, the safety lock is activated.
The temperature shown on the display will go out and the mains connection symbol -C= will appear.
The interior lighting will go out and cooling will be turned off.
Turning off the refrigerator section separately
The refrigerator section can be turned off without having to turn off the freezer section. This is, for example, useful when you go on vacation.

Touch the sensor for the refrigerator section until the yellow light goes out.
Dashes will temporarily appear on the display.
Turning the refrigerator section back on again
The refrigerator section can be turned on separately.



Touch the sensor for the refrigerator section until the yellow light comes back on.
The temperature display for the refrigerator section will light up. The refrigerator section will start cooling and the interior lighting will come on when the door is opened.
Turning off for longer periods of time
⚠️ If, during a long absence, the appliance is switched off but not cleaned and the door(s) left shut, there is a danger of bacteria building up inside the appliance. It is essential to clean the appliance.
If the appliance is not going to be used for a longer period of time, e.g. while on vacation:
■ switch the appliance off, ■ unplug the power cord or trip the circuit breaker, ■ empty the ice cube drawer, ■ close the shut-off valve in the water supply line, ■ clean the appliance and ■ leave the door(s) ajar to air the appliance and avoid odors building up inside the appliance.
It is also advisable to carry out the last two instructions if you are switching the refrigerator section off for a longer period of time.
It is very important to set the correct temperature for storing food in the appliance. Bacteria will cause food which is not stored at the correct temperature to deteriorate rapidly.
The temperature in the appliance will rise:
- if you open the door frequently or keep it open too long, – the more food that is stored in it
- if you put food in it that is too warm,
- the higher the ambient temperature surrounding the appliance. The appliance is designed for use within specific ambient temperatures (climate range). Do not use in ambient temperatures for which it is not designed.
... in the refrigerator section and in the PerfectFresh Pro zone
We recommend a temperature of 39°F (4°C) in the refrigerator section.
The temperature in the PerfectFresh Pro zone is controlled automatically, and is maintained at 32 to 37 °F (0 to 3 °C).
Automatic cold air circulation (DynamicCooling)
The fan automatically turns on when the cooling system for the refrigerator section turns on. It distributes the temperature in the appliance to all areas more evenly so that all the food will be chilled to about the same degree.
... in the freezer section
To freeze fresh food and to store frozen food for a long time, a temperature of 0°F (-18°C) is required. Partially defrosted or fully defrosted food must not be re-frozen. Food may be re-frozen once it has been cooked.
Temperature display
In normal operation the display shows the current average refrigerator temperature and the current temperature in the warmest part of the freezer.
If the temperature in the freezer section is not within the normal temperature display range, dashes will flash in the display.
Depending on the ambient temperature and the temperature setting, it can take the appliance a few hours to reach the temperature required and for this temperature to then be shown as a constant temperature in the display.
⚠️ If the temperature in the freezer remains above 0°F (-18°C) for a long time, check that the frozen food has not started to defrost.
If it has, check that the food is safe to use and if it is, then use it as soon as possible or cook it before freezing it again.
Setting the temperature for the refrigerator/freezer section
The temperatures for the refrigerator and freezer sections are set separately.




■ Select the refrigerator or the freezer section. ■ Use the two sensors below the display to set the temperature.
When you touch the sensor

- the temperature drops

– the temperature increases
The temperature value flashes while the temperature is being set.
The following information appears on the display when the sensors are touched:
- With the first touch: The last temperature set flashes. – Each subsequent touch of the sensor: The temperature changes in 1° increments.
- Keeping your finger on the sensor changes the temperature continuously.
Approx. 5 seconds after you release the button, the actual temperature in the appliance will be displayed.

■ Touch the OK button to confirm your selection.
If you have adjusted the temperature, wait for approx. 6 hours if the appliance is not very full and for approx. 24 hours if the appliance is full before checking the temperature display, as it will take this long for the appliance to give an accurate reading.
■ If, after this amount of time, the temperature is too high or too low, adjust it again.
Temperature range
The temperature can be selected within the following ranges:
- from 37 °F (3 °C) to 49 °F (9 °C) in the refrigerator section.
- from 7 °F (-14 °C) to -15 °F (-26 °C) in the freezer section.
Adjusting the temperature in the PerfectFresh Pro zone
In the PerfectFresh Pro zone, the temperature is kept at between 32° F and 37° F (0° C and 3° C). However, if you would like it to be warmer or colder, for example for storing fish, you can adjust the temperature slightly.
The preset temperature in the PerfectFresh Pro zone is 5. If a setting of between 1 and 4 is selected, the temperature may fall below zero and food may freeze. In this case, select a higher setting.

■ Touch the settings button.
All symbols available for selection will appear on the display and the 🔒 symbol will flash.

■ Touch the buttons for setting the temperature (∧ or ∨) repeatedly until the ⏻ symbol flashes on the display.

■ Touch the OK button to confirm your selection.
The last setting selected will flash and the ⏻ symbol will light up on the display.

■ You can now adjust the temperature in the PerfectFresh Pro zone by touching the ∨ or ∧ button. You can choose from settings 1 to 9:
1: lowest temperature;
9: highest temperature.

■ Touch the OK button to confirm your selection.
The selected setting will be adopted and the ⏻ symbol will flash.

■ Touch the settings button to exit settings mode.
If you do not, the appliance will exit settings mode automatically after approximately one minute.
The newly set temperature for the PerfectFresh Pro zone will gradually be reached.
Using Automatic SuperCool and SuperFreeze
The automatic SuperCool function
The automatic SuperCool function can be used to rapidly reduce the temperature in the refrigerator section to its lowest setting (in line with room temperature).
Turning on automatic SuperCool
Automatic SuperCool is particularly recommended for rapidly chilling large amounts of fresh food or drink.

■ Select the sensor for the refrigerator section.
The refrigerator section symbol will light up in yellow.

Touch the SuperCool button; it will light up in yellow.
The appliance will work at full power to lower the temperature in the refrigerator section.
Turning off automatic SuperCool
The automatic SuperCool function turns off automatically after approx. 12 hours. The appliance will then continue to operate at normal power.
To save energy, the automatic SuperCool function can be turned off once the food and drinks are sufficiently chilled.

Select the sensor for the refrigerator section.
The refrigerator section symbol will light up in yellow.

Touch the SuperCool button; the yellow light will go out.
The appliance will run at normal power again.
Automatic SuperFreeze function
For best results, turn on automatic SuperFreeze before putting fresh food in the freezer.
Fresh food will then be frozen quickly, retaining its nutritional value, vitamin content, appearance and taste.
Exceptions:
- If you are putting food already frozen in the freezer.
- If you are only freezing up to 4.5 lbs (2 kg) of fresh food daily.
Turning on automatic SuperFreeze
For freezing small quantities of food, the automatic SuperFreeze function should be turned on 6 hours beforehand. If you are freezing the maximum load of food, the automatic SuperFreeze function should be turned on 24 hours beforehand.

Touch the sensor for the freezer section.
The freezer section symbol will light up yellow.

Touch the SuperFreeze button; it will light up in yellow.
The appliance will work at full power to lower the temperature in the freezer section.
Turning off SuperFreeze
The automatic SuperFreeze function will switch itself off automatically after approx. 30 - 65 hours. The quantity of fresh food placed in the freezer determines just how long the SuperFreeze function stays on. The SuperFreeze symbol will then go out and the appliance will run at normal power again.
To save energy, the automatic SuperFreeze function can be turned off once a constant temperature of 0°F (-18°C) has been reached inside the freezer section. Check the temperature inside the appliance.

Touch the sensor for the freezer section.
The freezer section symbol will light up yellow.

Touch the SuperFreeze button; the yellow light will go out.
The appliance will run at normal power again.
Your appliance is equipped with a warning system to ensure that temperature increases in the freezer section do not go unnoticed and also prevents energy from being wasted when a door is left open.
Temperature alarm
If the freezer temperature gets too high, the freezer section sensor will flash, the alarm symbol ⚠️ on the display will flash, and an alarm will also sound.
The temperature the appliance is set at determines the temperature the appliance recognizes as being too warm.
The audible and visual signals are, for example, triggered:
- when the appliance is switched on if the temperature in the appliance differs too much from the set temperature,
- if a lot of warm ambient air enters the freezer when food is arranged or removed,
- when you freeze large amounts of food at once,
- when you freeze fresh food that is still warm, – after a power outage,
- if the appliance has a fault.
The alarm will stop and the alarm symbol ⚠️ will go out as soon as the temperature reaches the correct level again. The light in the freezer section button is then constant again.
⚠️ If the temperature in the freezer remains above 0°F (-18 °C) for a long time, check that the frozen food has not started to defrost.
If it has, check that the food is safe to use and if it is, then use it as soon as possible or cook it before freezing it again.
Cancelling the temperature alarm
If the alarm is disturbing you, it can be switched off.

Touch the button to turn off the temperature alarm.
The alarm will stop.
The alarm symbol ⚠️ will remain on until the set temperature has been reached.
Door alarm
The appliance is fitted with a warning system to avoid increased energy consumption and food becoming warm if the door is left open.
An alarm will sound if the door is left open for too long. The alarm symbol ⚠️ will light up.
The amount of time until the door alarm is triggered depends on the setting selected and can be either 2 minutes (factory default) or 4 minutes. However, the door alarm can also be turned off (see "Additional settings - Acoustic signals").
As soon as the door is closed, the alarm goes off and the alarm symbol ⚠️ disappears from the display.
If no alarm sounds even though there is a door alarm, the alarm has been turned off in settings mode (see "Additional settings - Acoustic signals").
Cancelling the door alarm
If the alarm is disturbing you, it can be switched off.

■ Touch the sensor to turn off the door alarm.
The alarm will stop.
The alarm symbol ⚠️ will continue to be displayed until the door is closed.
Certain settings for the appliance can only be selected in settings mode.
While you are in settings mode, the door alarm and any other fault messages are suppressed automatically, but the alarm symbol ⚠️ lights up on the display.

Safety lock
The safety lock can be activated to prevent:
– the appliance being turned off by mistake, – the temperature being changed by mistake, – automatic SuperCool and SuperFreeze being selected by mistake, – settings being adjusted by mistake (it is only possible to deactivate the lock).
This prevents the appliance being turned off or settings adjusted without your knowledge, for example by children.
Activating and deactivating the safety lock

■ Touch the settings sensor.
All symbols available for selection will appear in the display and the 🔊 symbol flashes.

■ Touch the OK sensor to confirm your selection.
The last selected setting flashes and the 🔒 symbol lights up in the display.

■ By touching the ∧ or ∨ sensor, you can now select whether the safety lock is activated or deactivated: 0: the safety lock is deactivated, 1: the safety lock is activated.

■ Touch the OK sensor to confirm your selection.
The selected setting will be adopted and the 🔒 symbol will flash.

■ Touch the settings sensor to leave the settings mode.
Otherwise the appliance will exit the settings mode automatically after approximately one minute.
The 🔒 symbol will appear in the display when the safety lock is activated.
Temperature unit (Celsius or Fahrenheit)
The temperature can be displayed in either Fahrenheit °F or Celsius °C. Degrees Fahrenheit °F is the factory setting.
Setting the temperature display to Celsius

■ Touch the settings button.
All symbols available for selection will appear on the display and the symbol will flash.

■ Touch the buttons for setting the temperature (∧ or ∨) repeatedly until °C and °F flash on the display.

■ Touch the OK button to confirm your selection.
°F will flash on the display.

■ You can now select °C by touching the ∧ or ∨ button.

■ Touch the OK button to confirm your selection.
The selected setting will be saved.

■ Touch the settings button to exit settings mode.
If you do not, the appliance will exit settings mode automatically after approximately one minute.
The temperature will now be displayed in Celsius.
Setting the temperature display to Fahrenheit

Touch the settings button.
All symbols available for selection will appear on the display and the 🔒 symbol will flash.

Touch the buttons for setting the temperature (∧ or ∨) repeatedly until °C and °F flash on the display.

Touch the OK button to confirm your selection.
°C will flash on the display.

You can now select °F by touching the ∧ or ∨ button.

Touch the OK button to confirm your selection.
The selected setting will be saved.

Touch the settings button to exit settings mode. If you do not, the appliance will exit settings mode automatically after approximately one minute.
The temperature will now be displayed in Fahrenheit.
Acoustic signals ♪♪
The appliance has acoustic signals such as the button tone and the door and temperature alarms.
You can turn the button tone and the door alarm on and off, but you cannot turn off the temperature alarm.
There are four settings to choose from. Option 3 is set at the factory; this means that the button tone and the door alarm are turned on.
Turning acoustic tones on or off

Touch the settings sensor.
All symbols available for selection will appear in the display and the 🔒 symbol flashes.

Touch the sensors for setting the temperature (∧ or ∨) repeatedly until the ♪ symbol flashes in the display.

Touch the OK sensor to confirm your selection.

By touching the ∧ or ∨ sensors you can now select the following:
☐ : Sensor tone off; Door alarm off
1: Sensor tone off; Door alarm on (after 4 minutes)
2: Sensor tone off; Door alarm on (after 2 minutes)
3 : Sensor tone on; Door alarm on (after 2 minutes).

Touch the OK sensor to confirm your selection.
The selected setting will be adopted and the ♪ symbol will flash.

Touch the settings sensor to leave the settings mode.
Otherwise the appliance will exit the settings mode automatically after approximately one minute.
Display brightness

You can adjust the brightness of the display to suit the ambient light conditions in the room.
The display brightness can be adjusted incrementally from 1 to 3. The factory default setting is 3 (maximum brightness).
Changing the brightness of the display

■ Touch the settings sensor.
All symbols available for selection will appear in the display and the 🔒 symbol flashes.

■ Touch the sensors for setting the temperature (∧ or ∨) repeatedly until the ⚙ symbol flashes in the display.

■ Touch the OK sensor to confirm your selection.
The last selected setting flashes and the ⚙ symbol lights up in the display.

■ By touching the ∧ or ∨ sensor, you can now alter the brightness of the display:
1: Dimmest setting 2 : Medium setting 3 : Brightest setting.

■ Touch the OK sensor to confirm your selection.
The selected setting will be adopted and the ⚙ symbol will flash.

■ Touch the settings sensor to leave the settings mode.
Otherwise the appliance will exit the settings mode automatically after approximately one minute.
Sabbath mode iii
The appliance has a Sabbath mode for the purposes of religious observance.
The following are turned off:
– the interior lighting when the door is opened, – all acoustic and optical signals, – the temperature display, – automatic SuperCool and SuperFreeze (if previously turned on), – the ice cube maker (if previously turned on).
The following can be selected:
– the settings button for turning off Sabbath mode – and the on/off button.
The Sabbath mode function will turn itself off automatically after approx. 120 hours.
Ensure that the appliance doors are properly closed, as visual and audible alarms are switched off.
Risk of food poisoning!
Any interruption to the power supply during this time will not be shown on the display and the appliance will then restart in Sabbath mode. When Sabbath mode is ended, the power outage will not be indicated on the display.
If there is an interruption to the power supply during Sabbath mode, check the quality of the food. Do not consume any defrosted food.
Turning on Sabbath mode

■ Touch the Settings sensor.
All symbols available for selection will appear in the display and the 🔒 symbol flashes.

■ Touch the sensors for setting the temperature (∧ or ∨) repeatedly until the ∥ symbol flashes in the display.

■ Touch the OK sensor to confirm your selection.
The last selected setting flashes and the iii symbol lights up in the display.

■ By touching the ∧ or ∨ sensor you can now switch on Sabbath mode. To do this, select the 1 setting.

■ Touch the OK sensor to confirm your selection.
The selected setting is applied, the iii symbol lights up.
As soon as the symbol goes out in the display after 3 seconds, Sabbath mode is switched on.
■ Turn off Sabbath mode after the Sabbath has passed.
Turning off Sabbath mode

■ Touch the Settings sensor to leave Sabbath mode.
The temperature will appear in the display and the interior lighting will come on.
Do not load more than a maximum of 16 kg of food in the appliance door.

WARNING! Fire hazard!
Do not operate any electrical equipment inside the appliance. This can cause sparking.

Danger of explosion.
Do not store explosive materials in the appliance or any products containing propellants (e.g. spray cans).

If storing food which contains a lot of fat or oil in the appliance or the appliance door, make sure that it does not come into contact with plastic components as this could cause stress cracks or break the plastic.
Make sure that no oil or grease leaks onto the plastic parts of the appliance. This can cause the plastic to crack and break.
Various cooling zones
Due to natural air circulation there are different temperature zones in the refrigerator section.
Cold, heavy air sinks to the lowest section of the appliance. Make use of the different temperature zones when placing food in the appliance.
To allow air to circulate efficiently, do not pack food too closely together in the refrigerator.
If there is insufficient air circulation the cooling performance will decrease and energy consumption will increase.
Do not cover the fan in the rear wall of the refrigerator.
Food must not touch the back of the refrigerator section as it may freeze to the back wall.
This appliance has DynamicCooling, which helps to keep an even temperature when the fan is running. When DynamicCooling is turned on, the difference between the various zones is less pronounced.
Warmest area
The warmest area in the refrigerator section is in the top section of the door. Use this for storing butter so that it remains spreadable and cheese so that it retains its flavor.
Coldest area
The coldest area in the refrigerator section is directly above the dividing plate of the PerfectFresh Pro zone and against the rear wall. However, it is even colder inside the compartments in the PerfectFresh Pro zone.
Use these areas in the refrigerator section and in the PerfectFresh Pro zone for all delicate and highly perishable food, e.g.
- fish, meat, poultry, – cold cuts, ready meals,
- dishes or baked goods containing eggs or cream, – fresh dough, cake mixtures, pizza or pie dough,
- pre-packed vegetables and other fresh food whose best-before date requires storage at a temperature of at least 39°F (4 °C).
Food which is not suitable for storage in the refrigerator section
Not all food is suitable for refrigeration at temperatures below 41°F (5°C) because it is sensitive to cold. Depending on the type of food, the appearance, consistency, flavor and/or vitamin content may be altered if stored at too cold a temperature.
Food that is sensitive to cold includes:
- pineapple, avocados, bananas, pomegranates, mangos, melons, papaya, passion fruit, citrus fruit (such as lemons, oranges, mandarins, grapefruit),
- fruit that is not yet ripe,
- eggplant, cucumbers, potatoes, peppers, tomatoes, zucchini,
– hard cheeses, e.g. Parmesan.
The freshness of food when first placed in the appliance is the most important factor in determining how long it stays fresh, and how long it can be kept in the appliance.
Always observe the use-by date and the recommended storage temperature. Time out of the refrigerator should be kept to a minimum, for example, when transporting food in a hot car.
Tip: Take a cool bag with you when shopping and on return place food into the appliance immediately.
Storing food correctly
Food should generally be stored covered or packaged in the refrigerator section (there are some exceptions to this rule in the PerfectFresh Pro zone). This prevents food smells from affecting other foods, food from drying out, and also any cross-contamination. This is especially important when you are storing animal products.
The storage life of food can be significantly increased by setting the correct temperature and maintaining good standards of hygiene.
Thanks to the optimum storage conditions in the PerfectFresh Pro zone for fruit, vegetables, fish, meat and dairy products, food remains fresh for longer, and flavor and vitamins are retained.
The optimum storage temperature for fresh food that is not sensitive to the cold is 32°F and 37°F (0 to 3°C). This is the temperature range which is automatically maintained in the PerfectFresh Pro zone. Food that is not sensitive to cold can be stored in the PerfectFresh Pro zone at this temperature without loss of freshness for considerably longer than in a standard refrigerator.
The humidity level in the PerfectFresh Pro zone can also be regulated to provide the correct conditions for the food stored. An increase in the humidity level ensures that food retains its own moisture and does not dry out so quickly. Such food therefore remains crisp and fresh for longer.
Food should be in good condition from the start to get good storage results.
Take food out of the PerfectFresh Pro zone approx. 30-60 minutes before using it. The aroma and flavor do not fully develop until the food has reached room temperature.
The PerfectFresh Pro zone is divided into two compartments:
The Info system (shown here in sections) above the PerfectFresh Pro zone helps you to choose the correct compartment and the appropriate setting in the humidity-controlled compartment.

- The upper dry compartment has a temperature of between 32°F and 37°F (0°C and 3°C). The humidity level in this compartment is not increased; this compartment is for storing fish, meat, dairy products and any other type of food as long as it is packaged.


- The lower humidity-controlled compartment (number depends on model) has a temperature of 32°F and 37°F (0°C to 3°C). The humidity level can be kept low or high, depending on the position of the slide control. If the humidity is high, fruit and vegetables should be stored here.
Each type of food has its own characteristics and requires certain storage conditions.
Dry compartment
The dry compartment is suitable for storing perishable foods such as:
– fresh fish and shellfish; - meat and poultry; - salads; - dairy products such as yogurt, cheese, cream, etc.; – any type of food can in fact be stored in this compartment, as long as it is packaged.
The low temperature in the dry compartment is its most distinctive feature. The humidity level is similar to that in a conventional refrigerator.
Please note that foods rich in protein deteriorate faster than others. Shellfish, for example, deteriorate faster than fish, and fish deteriorates faster than meat.
For hygiene reasons, you should always keep these foods covered or wrapped.
Humidity-controlled compartment △, △□ / △□□
Low humidity △
When the △ setting is used, the humidity-controlled compartment becomes a dry compartment. The slide control opens the compartment vents so that moisture is able to escape (see "Dry compartment △").
High humidity △/ △□□
The two settings ◇ ◇ / ◇ ◇ ◇ are suitable for storing fruit and vegetables.
- If you are storing a large quantity of fruit and vegetables in the humidity-controlled compartment, we recommend the △△ setting (the slide control partially closes the compartment vents so that some of the humidity is retained).
- Select the ⚙️ setting if using the humidity-controlled compartment to store only a small quantity of fruit and vegetables (the slide control closes the vents in the compartment completely so that all of the moisture is retained).
Tip: If the humidity level is too high and a lot of moisture has collected in the compartment, select the △△ setting. If the humidity level is too low, wrap the food in airtight packaging.
The humidity level in the humidity-controlled compartment is determined by the type and quantity of food when it is not packaged.
Storing food in the PerfectFresh Pro zone
High humidity in the humidity-controlled compartment can cause condensation to build up in the bottom of the compartment and beneath the lid. This should be removed with a cloth.
Note for testing institutes:
For standard energy consumption measurement, the slide control on the humidity-controlled compartment should be set to the setting ("low humidity").
Regulating humidity in the humidity-controlled compartment
A slide control is used to regulate the amount of moisture in the humidity-controlled compartment with the settings Δ , ΔΔ and ΔΔΔ .

■ Push the slide control all the way to the back and then slowly release it. The slide control will automatically click into the position. ■ To select setting △ or △□□, push the slide control to the back again and release it so that it clicks into position △ or △□□.
If you are not satisfied with your stored food (for example food loses its crispness or starts to shrivel up after only a short storage time), check the following:
■ Only put fresh food in the appliance. The condition of the food when it is first placed in the appliance is an important factor in determining how long it stays fresh. ■ Clean the PerfectFresh Pro compartments before storing food in them. ■ Very wet food should be dried off before storage. ■ Do not store any food in the PerfectFresh Pro zone that is sensitive to cold (see "Food which should not be stored in a refrigerator"). ■ Select the correct PerfectFresh Pro compartment and the appropriate position of the slide control for the humidity-controlled compartment (low or high humidity) for the type of food being stored.
■ High humidity ( ΔΔ/ΔΔΔ ) in the humidity-controlled compartment is achieved solely through the moisture contained in the food stored, i.e. the more food in the compartment, the more moisture there is. If too much moisture collects in the compartment with setting ♂ and this is affecting the food, select ♂. Otherwise, mop up the condensate with a cloth (first and foremost from the bottom and lid) or place a rack at the bottom of the compartment to allow any excess moisture to drain off. If the humidity level is too low despite setting △□□ being selected, wrap the food in airtight packaging.
If you think that the temperature in the PerfectFresh Pro zone is not correct, try adjusting it slightly by 1-2° using the refrigerator section temperature control. To avoid frost damage to food, a higher temperature must be set if ice crystals begin to form in the bottom of the PerfectFresh Pro zone.
Adjusting the door shelf / bottle shelf
■ Lift up the door shelf / bottle shelf and pull it forward to remove it. ■ Place the door shelf / bottle shelf at any position again. Make sure that it is properly and securely pushed back into position.
Adjusting the bottle holder
The bottle holder can be moved left or right to create more room for drink cartons.
The bottle holder can be removed completely, for example for cleaning:
■ Lift up the bottle shelf and pull it out. ■ Detach the bottle holder from the back edge of the bottle shelf.
Moving the shelf/shelf with lighting
The shelves can be adjusted according to the height of the food.

■ Lift the shelf at the front, pull it forwards slightly, lift the recess over the shelf supports and move the shelf up or down. ■ Push in the shelf until it clicks into position.
The stop at the back of the shelf must face upwards so that food does not touch the rear wall and freeze to it.
Stops prevent the shelves from being dislodged by mistake.
Shelf with lighting
The LED lighting is located on the stainless steel trim of the shelf. By adjusting the position of the shelf in the refrigerator section, you can change the illumination in this section as required.
Adjusting the interior fittings
Adjusting the bottle rack
The bottle rack is available as an optional accessory (see "Accessories - Optional accessories").

The bottle rack can be placed at different positions in the appliance.
■ Lift the front of the rack and pull it forwards slightly until the notch at the side is in line with the shelf support. It can then be raised or lowered to the required level.
The stop bar at the back must point upwards to prevent the bottles from touching the back wall.
Stops prevent the bottle rack from being dislodged by mistake.
PerfectFresh Pro zone drawers
The drawers in the PerfectFresh Pro zone are on telescopic rails, and can be removed for filling, emptying or cleaning purposes:
To make it easier to pull out the drawers, remove the bottle shelf from the appliance door.
Pull the drawers out as far as they will go.

Hold the sides of the drawers towards the back, lift them slightly and pull them out.
Push the runners back in again to avoid damaging them.
Carefully pull out the lid between the drawers slightly, and lift it down and out.
Take care when cleaning the appliance that you do not wash the special lubricant out of the telescopic rails.
Wipe the rails with a damp cloth.
To replace the drawer lid, insert it from beneath into the holders, and push it back until it clicks into place.
Inserting the drawers
Push the runners back in completely and then place the drawers on them. Push the drawers back into the appliance until they click into position.
Moving the carbon filter
The carbon filter with KKF-FF holder (Active AirClean) is available as an optional accessory (see "Accessories - Optional accessories").
When you are storing very strong-smelling food (e.g. very ripe cheese):
- Place the holder with the carbon filters on the shelf where this food is being kept.
- Change the carbon filters sooner if necessary.
- Use more carbon filters (with holders) in the appliance (see "Accessories - Optional accessories").
The holder for the carbon filters sits on the protective strip at the back of the shelf.
To move the carbon filter, pull the holder up and off the protective strip.

Refit it on the protective strip of the shelf on which you wish to use.
Always observe USDA food safety guidelines.

Maximum freezing capacity
To ensure that fresh food placed in the freezer freezes through to the core as quickly as possible, the maximum freezing capacity must not be exceeded. The maximum freezing capacity for freezing within a 24-hour period is given on the data plate: "Freezing capacity ....lbs/24 hrs."
What happens when you freeze fresh food?
Fresh food should be frozen as quickly as possible so that the nutritional value of the food, its vitamin content, appearance and flavor are maintained.
The longer food is frozen, the more water it loses from each individual cell in to the intermediate spaces. The cells then shrink. During the defrosting process, only some of this water is reabsorbed by the cells. In practical terms, this means that the food loses a substantial amount of liquid, which can be seen by the fact that a large pool of water collects around it.
If food is frozen quickly, the cells have less time to lose moisture, so they shrink less. As there is not so much moisture loss, it is easier for the food to reabsorb it during the defrosting process, and very little water collects around the defrosted food.
Storing frozen food
When buying frozen food to store in your freezer, make sure to check:
– that the packaging is not damaged, – the expiration date and - the temperature at which the frozen food is being stored in the shop. The length of time it can be kept is reduced if it has been stored at a temperature warmer than 0°F (-18°C).
■ Buy frozen food at the very end of your shopping trip.
■ Store it in the freezer compartment as soon as possible.

Never re-freeze partially or fully defrosted food. Defrosted food may only be re-frozen after it has been cooked.
Home freezing
Only freeze food that is fresh and in good condition.
Tips for home freezing
- The following types of food are suitable for home freezing: fresh meat, poultry, game, fish, vegetables, herbs, fresh fruit, dairy products, baked goods, leftovers, and most pre-cooked meals.
- The following types of food are not suitable for freezing:
Grapes, lettuce, radishes, sour cream, mayonnaise, eggs in their shells, onions, whole raw apples and pears.
- To retain color, taste, aroma and vitamin C, vegetables should be blanched after they have been trimmed and washed. To blanch: bring a large saucepan of water to the boil, immerse the vegetables in the fast boiling water for 2-3 minutes, depending on variety. Remove, and plunge into ice-cold water to cool quickly. Drain and pack ready for freezing.
- Lean meat freezes better than fatty meat and can be stored for considerably longer.
- To prevent chops, steaks, cutlets, etc. from freezing together in solid blocks when packed, separate with a sheet of plastic freezer film.
- Do not season fresh foods or blanched vegetables before freezing. Only season cooked food lightly before freezing, but care should be taken as the taste of some spices alters when frozen.
- Placing hot foods or drinks in the freezer causes food that is already frozen to partially thaw and increases energy consumption. Allow hot foods and drinks to cool down before placing them in the freezer.

Tip: Freezer bags may also be sealed using home heat sealing kits.
■ Label the package with the contents and the date of freezing.
Before placing food in the freezer
■ When freezing more than 4.5 lbs (2 kg) of fresh food, switch on the automatic SuperFreeze function some time before placing food in the freezer (see "Using automatic SuperCool and SuperFreeze - SuperFreeze"). This helps food which is already stored in the freezer to remain frozen.
Placing food in the freezer
⚠️ The following maximum loads must not be exceeded:
- freezer drawer = 55 lbs (25 kg)
- glass cold plate = 77 lbs (35 kg)
Unfrozen food should not touch frozen food as this will cause frozen food to begin to thaw.
■ When placing items in the freezer, ensure that the packaging and containers are dry to prevent them from sticking together when frozen.
- Freezing small amounts of food
Place the food in the upper freezer drawers.
■ Place the food flat in the bottom of the freezer drawer so that it freezes through to the middle as quickly as possible.
- Freezing the maximum amount (see data plate)
Ensure ventilation slots at the back of the freezer section are always free from obstruction.
If the ventilation slots are blocked, this will affect performance and the energy consumption will increase.
Make sure when arranging food on the glass plate that it does not block the ventilation slots.
When removing the freezer drawers, please note that the bottom freezer drawer must always remain in the freezer.
■ Remove the upper freezer drawers. ■ Spread out the food on the upper glass cold plates so that it freezes through to the middle as quickly as possible.
Once the food has frozen:
■ Place the frozen food in the freezer drawer and push it back in.
Storage time for frozen food
The storage life of food is very variable, even at a constant temperature of 0 °F (-18 °C). Decomposition processes also take place in frozen food, albeit at a very reduced speed. For example fat can become rancid from contact with oxygen in the air. This is why lean meat can be stored approx. twice as long as fatty meat.
The storage times quoted are guide values for the storage life of different food groups in the freezer section.

Where the storage time given on the packaging differs, follow the advice on the packaging.
Defrosting
Frozen food can be thawed in various ways:
- in the microwave,
- in a regular oven, using the "Fan" or "Defrost" setting
- at room temperature, – in the refrigerator section (the cold given off by the frozen food helps to keep the other food cold),
- in a steam oven.
Flat pieces of partially thawed meat or fish can be placed directly into a hot skillet.
Meat and poultry (e.g. hamburger, chicken, fish) should not come into contact with other foods while defrosting. Catch the defrosting liquid and dispose of it carefully.
Fruit can be thawed at room temperature, either in the packaging or in a covered bowl.
Most vegetables can be cooked while still frozen. Just put straight into boiling water or hot fat. The cooking time is slightly less than that of fresh vegetables due to changes in the cell structure.

Never re-freeze partially or fully thawed food. Defrosted food may be re-frozen after it has been cooked.
Cooling drinks quickly

Risk of injury from broken glass!
Bottles and cans of drinks, particularly carbonated drinks, can burst when frozen.
Do not freeze any drinks in bottles or cans.
Adjusting the interior fittings
Removing the drawers and glass plates from the freezer
The drawers can be removed for filling, emptying, or cleaning purposes.
You can also use the space in the freezer more flexibly. If you wish to freeze large items such as a turkey or game, the glass cold plates between the drawers can be removed.
Pull out the drawers as far as they will go, and then lift them up and out. Lift the glass plate slightly, pull it forwards and out.
Using accessories
Using the cool pack
The cool pack prevents the temperature in the freezer from rising too quickly in the event of a power outage. This can help prolong the storage life.
Place the cool pack in the top drawer of the freezer section.
The cool pack will be at its most effective after it has been in the freezer for approx. 24 hours.
In the event of a power outage:
Place the frozen cool pack directly on top of the frozen food in the front of the top drawer.
Tip: When placing fresh food in the freezer, use the cool pack to separate the fresh food from the food which is already frozen so that the frozen food does not begin to thaw.
Tip: The cool pack can also be used to keep food or drinks cool for a short period of time in a cool box or bag.
For the automatic ice cube maker to operate it must be connected to the fresh water supply (see "Fresh water supply").
Ice cube maker with integrated ice cube tray
Only make normal quantities of ice cubes (for your own use) with the ice cube maker.
After the appliance is switched on for the first time, it can take up to 24 hours for the first ice cubes to drop out of the ice cube maker and collect in the drawer.
Thereafter, when the ice cube maker is switched off and then on again it will take up to a maximum of 6 hours for ice cubes to be produced.

The ice cube drawer ① contains an automatic ice cube maker ②.
When the ice cube maker is switched on, the ☐ symbol in the display and the indicator light on the ice cube maker light up.
Ice cubes can only be made when the ice cube drawer is completely closed.

An ice cube tray ③ where ice cubes are produced is integrated into the ice cube maker ②.
The ice cube tray automatically empties into the drawer as soon as the ice cubes are ready.
The ice cube maker can be switched off independently of the freezer section if you do not want the appliance to make any ice cubes.
If the ice cube maker is switched off, the ice cube drawer can be used as an extra drawer for freezing fresh food and storing frozen food.
Rinse out the ice cube maker and water supply line:
- before using for the first time,
- if the ice cube maker has not been used for a long time,
- regularly when in continuous use (at least once a month) to remove residual ice from the system (to avoid blocking the water supply line) and
- before switching the ice cube maker off for a long time.

Making a large quantity of ice cubes
The amount of ice cubes which the appliance makes depends on the temperature in the freezer section. The lower the temperature, the more ice cubes are produced within a given time. At a temperature of 0°F (-18°C), approx. 2.2 lbs (1 kg) of ice cubes will be produced in 24 hours.
The ice cube maker automatically stops making ice cubes when the ice cube drawer is full.
Tip: If you require a large quantity of ice cubes, replace the full ice cube drawer with the drawer to the right of it.
The ice cube maker will start making ice cubes again as soon as this drawer is closed.
Changing the size of the ice cubes
The size of the ice cubes depends on the amount of water, which you can set according to your requirements. To make larger ice cubes, increase the amount of water. The factory water setting is medium (E3).
Setting the water quantity
This setting can only be selected if the ice cube maker is on.

■ Touch the settings button.
All symbols available for selection will appear on the display and the 🔒 symbol will flash.
■ Touch the buttons for setting the temperature (∨ or ∧) repeatedly until the symbol for the ice cube maker 🔍 flashes on the display. ■ Touch the OK button to confirm your selection. ■ By touching the ∨ and ∧ buttons, you can now select the water quantity settings:

Danger of injury and damage!
Do not use any mechanical or other types of aids which are not recommended by the manufacturer to accelerate the defrosting process.
Refrigerator section and PerfectFresh Pro zone
The refrigerator section and the PerfectFresh Pro zone defrost automatically.
Condensate and ice can build up on the back wall of the refrigerator section and the PerfectFresh Pro zone while the appliance is in use. You do not need to remove this build-up, as it will evaporate automatically in the warmth generated by the compressor.
The condensate drains through a channel and drain pipe into an evaporation system at the back of the appliance.
⚠️ The condensate must always be able to drain properly.
Keep the condensate channel and drain hole clean to enable this.
Freezer section
The appliance is equipped with a "NoFrost" system. The freezer defrosts automatically.
The moisture generated in the appliance collects on the condenser, and is automatically defrosted and evaporates periodically.
This automatic defrosting system enables the freezer to remain permanently ice-free, but the food stored in the freezer will not defrost!
WARNING! Danger of electric shock!
Unplug the appliance or trip the circuit breaker.

Do not damage the coolant pipework.
Do not let water get into the electronic unit or the lighting.
⚠️ Steam from a steam cleaning appliance could reach the electrical components and cause a short circuit.
Do not use a steam cleaner!
Cleaning water must not get into the drain hole.
The data plate located inside the appliance must not be removed. It contains information which is required in the event of a service call.
Cleaning agents
Cleaning and conditioning agents used inside the appliance must be food safe.
To avoid damaging the surfaces of your appliance, avoid the following:
- cleaning products containing soda, ammonia, acid, or chloride; – lime scale removers;
- abrasive cleaning products such as scouring powder, scouring liquid, or pumice stones;
– cleaners containing solvents; – stainless steel cleaners; - dishwasher cleaners; - oven sprays; - glass cleaner; – hard, abrasive sponges and brushes such as pot scrubbers; - eraser sponges; - sharp metal scrapers.
⚠️ Glass cleaners may be used to clean the exterior.
However do not allow them to sit or "puddle", this can cause damage to the surface.
Remove the cleaner promptly.
To clean the appliance's stainless steel surfaces, use Miele Stainless Steel Cleaner (see "Guide to the appliance - Optional accessories"). This product contains substances that are gentle on stainless steel surfaces and, unlike stainless steel cleaners, it does not contain polishing agents. Miele Stainless Steel Cleaner removes dirt gently and forms a protective film against dirt and water each time it is used.
We recommend using warm water and liquid dish soap.
The following pages contain important information on cleaning.
Rinsing the ice cube maker
Rinse out the ice cube maker and water supply line:
– before using for the first time, - if the ice cube maker has not been used for a long time, - regularly when in continuous use (at least once a month) to remove residual ice from the system (to avoid blocking the water supply line) and - before switching the ice cube maker off for a long time.

When you select "Rinse the ice cube maker," the ice cube maker ② and the water supply line are rinsed automatically.
The ice cube tray then moves to the cleaning position so that it can be dried by hand.
The water collects in the ice cube drawer ①.
Ensure the ice cube drawer is empty before selecting the "Rinse the ice cube maker" setting, or the water will flow onto the contents of the drawer.
"Rinse the ice cube maker" can only be selected when the ice cube maker is on.

■ Touch the settings button.
All symbols available for selection will appear on the display and the symbol will flash.
■ Touch the buttons for setting the temperature (∨ and ∧) repeatedly until the symbol for the ice cube maker 🔒 flashes on the display. ■ Touch the OK button to confirm your selection. ■ By touching the ∨ and ∧ buttons, you can now select the setting you want:
☐: the ice cube maker is off 1: the ice cube maker is on 2: set the water volume 3: select the ice cube tray cleaning position 4: rinse the ice cube maker

The selected setting will be saved. The ice cube maker symbol 📞 will flash on the display and the indicator light on the ice cube maker will stay on for as long as the ice cube maker is being rinsed.
You will hear the ice cube tray turning to a slanted position.
■ Wait until the ice cube tray has stopped moving before continuing.
The ice cube maker will then turn off.
Cleaning and care
■ Carefully remove the ice cube drawer, which is now full of water, and empty and clean it.
The ice cube tray is not detachable and can only be cleaned when in place.

■ Clean the ice cube tray ② and the ice cube drawer with lukewarm water and liquid dish soap. After cleaning, wipe thoroughly with a clean, damp cloth and then dry with a cloth.
As soon as the ice cube maker is turned on, the ice cube tray rotates back to its original position.
Preparing the appliance for cleaning
■ Switch the appliance off.
The display goes out and cooling is turned off.
If this does not happen, then the safety lock is still activated (see "Selecting additional settings - Activating/deactivating the lock").
■ Unplug the appliance or trip the circuit breaker. ■ Take any food out of the appliance and store it in a cool place. ■ Remove the door shelf/bottle shelf from the door. ■ Remove the PerfectFresh Pro zone drawers and their lids (see "Adjusting the interior fittings - PerfectFresh Pro zone drawers"). ■ Remove the glass plate from the divider panel. ■ Take out all other removable parts for cleaning.
Dismantling the shelves / shelves with lighting
⚠️ The stainless steel trim with LED lighting must not be placed in water. Clean the stainless steel trim with LED lighting with a damp cloth.
The stainless steel trim with LED lighting and stainless steel trim on the shelves is not suitable for dishwashers. Remove the trim before putting the shelves in the dishwasher.
To remove the stainless steel trim and the back protective strips, proceed as follows:
■ Place the shelf on a soft surface (e.g. a dish towel) with the top side facing downwards.
The stainless steel trim with LED lighting has metal discs (contacts) at the front left corner which supply power to the LED lighting. These can be damaged when the trim is removed. Ensure that you always loosen the other side from the contacts (metal discs) first.

Grasp the plastic surround on the left-hand side of the stainless steel trim at its furthest back point.
- Pull the plastic surround from the shelf and
- pull the trim off at the same time. Then do the same on the opposite side.
- Remove the protective strip.
After cleaning, reattach the stainless steel strip / the protective strip by following the same procedure in reverse.
Dismantling the bottle and door shelves
The stainless steel trim on the bottle and door shelves is not suitable for dishwashers.
Remove the trim before cleaning the door shelves in a dishwasher.
To remove the stainless steel trim, proceed as follows:
Place the door/bottle shelf with the front side to the work surface.

Remove one end of the trim and pull it off the shelf. The entire section of stainless steel trim will now come off the shelf. After cleaning, reattach the stainless steel trim to the shelf by following the same procedure in reverse.
Cleaning the interior and accessories
Clean the appliance at least once a month.
Clean up any spills, stains or food immediately. Do not allow them to dry and stick to the appliance.
Clean the interior with a clean sponge, lukewarm water and a little liquid dish soap. After cleaning, wipe with clean water and dry with a soft cloth.
The stainless steel trim on the bottle and door shelves is not suitable for dishwashers.
Remove the stainless steel trim and strips before putting the shelves in the dishwasher.
The following parts cannot be cleaned in a dishwasher:
- the stainless steel trim or strips
- the protective strips at the back of the adjustable shelves – all compartments and the compartment lid (depending on model)
- the cool pack. Clean these parts by hand.
The following parts can be cleaned in the dishwasher:
The maximum temperature of the dishwashing program selected must not exceed 131°F (55°C).
Contact with natural dyes from carrots, tomatoes and ketchup etc. may discolor the plastic parts in the dishwasher. This discoloration does not affect the stability of the parts.
- bottle holder, butter dish, egg tray (depending on model)
- bottle shelf and door shelf on the inside of the door (without stainless steel trim)
- the shelves (with the trim and strips removed)
Clean the condensate channel and drain opening frequently using a cotton swab or similar item to ensure that condensate can drain away freely.
Remove the PerfectFresh Pro zone drawers to clean the condensate channel and drain.
Be careful not to wash out the special lubricant in the telescopic runners during cleaning.
The PerfectFresh Pro zone drawers are on telescopic runners. Clean the telescopic runners with a damp cloth. Miele Stainless Steel Cleaner can be used to remove any dirt from the stainless steel trim.
Tip: Always wipe these surfaces with Miele Stainless Steel Cleaner immediately after cleaning. This protects the stainless steel surfaces and prevents them from rapidly getting dirty again.
Leave the door open to air the appliance for a short while and to prevent odors developing.
Cleaning the door seal
If the door seal is damaged or has come out of the groove, the door will not close properly and this will affect cooling.
Condensation will form in the inside and this can cause a build-up of ice. Do not damage the door seal, and make sure that it does not come out of its groove.
Do not use any grease or oil on the door seal as this will cause the seal to deteriorate and become porous over time.
The door seal should be cleaned regularly with clean water and then wiped thoroughly dry with a cloth.
Cleaning the ventilation grilles
A build-up of dust will increase the energy consumption of the appliance.
The air vents should be cleaned on a regular basis with a brush or vacuum cleaner (you could use a Miele vacuum cleaner dusting brush, for example).
Starting up the appliance after cleaning
■ Replace all shelves and accessories in the appliance. ■ Reconnect to the mains and switch the appliance back on. ■ Switch on the automatic SuperFreeze function for a while so that the freezer section can cool down quickly. ■ Switch on the automatic SuperCool function for a while so that the refrigerator section can cool down quickly. ■ Put the food back in the appliance and close the door. ■ Push the freezer drawers with the frozen food back into the freezer section and close the door. ■ Switch off the automatic SuperFreeze function as soon as the temperature in the freezer section is a constant 0 °F (-18 °C) or colder.
The majority of malfunctions and faults that occur during the daily routine can be put right without contacting the Service Department. The following guide will assist you to identify a malfunction or fault and rectify it yourself.
If, having followed the suggestions below, you still cannot resolve the problem, please contact Miele Technical Service.
To prevent unnecessary loss of temperature, it is advisable not to open the doors while waiting for the appliance to be serviced.

Unauthorized installation, maintenance and repairs can cause considerable danger for the user.
Installation, maintenance and repairs must only be carried out by a Miele authorized technician.

Demo mode
The appliance can be demonstrated in the showroom or at exhibitions in "Demo mode". In this mode, the control panel and interior lighting are active but the compressor remains off.
Turning on demo mode

Switch the appliance off using the on/off button.
If this does not work, the safety lock is still activated.
The temperature shown on the display will go out and the mains connection symbol -G= will appear.

■ Touch and hold the ∨ button.

■ At the same time, briefly touch the on/off button (without letting go of the ∨ button!).

- Keep your finger on the ∨ button until the ⚪ symbol appears on the display. ■ Release the ∨ button.
Demo mode is on and the ▪ symbol is illuminated on the display.
Turning off Demo mode
The I symbol is illuminated in the display.

■ Touch the settings sensor.
All symbols available for selection will appear in the display and the 🔒 symbol flashes.

■ Touch the sensors for setting the temperature (∨ or ∧) repeatedly until the ▪ symbol flashes in the display.

■ Touch the OK sensor to confirm your selection.
The 7 symbol flashes in the display (meaning: Demo mode is active) and the ▪ symbol is illuminated.

■ Touch the ∨ or ∧ sensor so that the symbol 0 appears in the display (meaning: Demo mode is inactive).

■ Touch the OK sensor to confirm your selection.
The selected setting will be adopted and the ▪ symbol will flash.

■ Touch the settings sensor to leave the settings mode.
Otherwise the appliance will exit the settings mode automatically after approximately one minute.
Demo mode is turned off and the ■ symbol disappears.
The appliance must be connected to the mains water supply by a qualified professional.
Disconnect the appliance from the power supply before connecting it to the mains water supply.

Risk of damage!
If the water supply is cut off while the ice cube maker is still in use, the water intake pipe can freeze up.
Turn the ice cube maker off if the water supply is interrupted (e.g., while on vacation).
Connecting the water supply
Before connecting the water, make sure that the appliance is disconnected from the electricity supply.
The cold water line must be vented by a qualified plumber before it is used for the first time.
The fresh water connection is at the back of the appliance, at the bottom.
The connection parts included with the appliance allow the connection of various water lines (no water line is included in delivery). Do not connect any old water lines that have already been used.

The solenoid valve ② has a metric R 3/4 connection thread.
■ Remove the cap ① from the solenoid valve ②. ■ Insert the adapter ③ into the union nut ④.
Risk of damage!
Do not insert the water filter the wrong way around as this can cause damage.
■ Insert the water filter ⑤ with the depression facing downwards towards the adapter ③.
Risk of damage!
Do not overtighten the union nut as this can cause damage.
Connect the union nut ④ to the solenoid valve ② and tighten it. If you want to move the water line by 90°, screw on the elbow ⑥.
For water lines with a 1/4" thread:
Connect the water line ⑦ (e.g. copper) to the adapter ③ or elbow ⑥ using the clamping ring ⑧ and nut ⑨.
For water lines with a 7/16" 24-UNS thread:
Connect the water line ⑦ directly to the adapter ③ or elbow ⑥ (a clamping ring ⑧ and nut ⑨ are not required).

- Secure the water line ⑦ to the casing using the retaining clip ⑩. Slowly open the shut-off valve in the water supply line and check the whole water system for leaks. The appliance can now be connected to the power supply (see "Electrical connection").
Take care not to bend or damage the water line when pushing the appliance into the niche.
Push the appliance into its final position.
Danger of electric shock!
The appliance must only be switched on when it has been installed in accordance with the installation instructions.
Ground the appliance.
The appliance must not be grounded via a gas pipe.
If in doubt, have a suitably qualified and experienced electrician check that the installation complies with relevant regulations.
Do not install a fuse into neutral current or grounding electrical circuit.
Do not use an extension lead or multi-socket adapter.
Do not use a frayed or damaged power cord.
Danger of electric shock!
For protection against electric shock this appliance is equipped with a pole-free plug which is protected against reverse polarity. The plug must be grounded in the usual way.
Do not remove the round grounding connector pin from the plug.
Use only a grounded plug adapter.
Wait for 1 hour after installation before plugging the appliance into the power supply. This allows coolant and refrigerator oil to settle in accordance with regulations.
Ensure that the voltage of the main power supply corresponds with the connection voltage of the appliance. A power supply of 110 - 120 V, 60 Hz and 15 Amp (20 Amp for side-by-side installation) with a NEMA 5-15 molded plug, which is protected by a main switch or a fuse, is required to operate the appliance.
The manufacturer recommends operating the appliance on a separate circuit to avoid overloading the electrical circuit.
All relevant legal electrical, fire and building regulations must be observed when installing the socket and/or the appliance.
In certain countries appliances are required to be connected to the electrical supply via a wall-mounted ON/OFF switch.
To avoid the risk of fire, electric shock or other injuries installation and connection of the appliance must be carried out by a suitably qualified electrician in accordance with all relevant local and national regulations and standards, including fire prevention.
The outlet must be easily accessible in an emergency so that the appliance can be quickly disconnected from the electrical supply in case of an emergency.
The socket must be located so that the upper edge is a maximum 82" (2100 mm) distance from the upper edge of the base of the kitchen cabinet.
If the outlet is no longer accessible once the appliance has been installed, an all-pole disconnect device with a contact opening of at least 1/8" (3 mm) must be present on site. The disconnect device may be circuit breaker, a fuse, or a contactor (compliant with local regulations).
The plug and power cord must not come into contact with the back of the appliance as vibrations can cause damage to these components. This, in turn, could result in a short circuit.
Do not plug in other devices behind this appliance.
Do not connect the appliance to an inverter such as those used with an autonomous energy source e.g. solar power. When switched on, peak loads in the system can cause the safety switch-off mechanism to be triggered. This can damage the electronic unit. The appliance must not be used with so-called energy-saving devices either. These reduce the amount of energy supplied to the appliance, causing it to overheat.
If the power cord needs to be replaced, this must be done by a qualified technician.
Side-by-side
The appliance has two side-wall heaters encased in foam and can be installed side-by-side with other appliances. Each appliance must be installed in its own niche.
Please contact your dealer for specific information about which combinations will work with your appliance.
⚠ WARNING! This appliance must be built in, otherwise it could tip up. Install the appliance in accordance with the installation instructions.
⚠️ Risk of fire and damage! This appliance must not be installed underneath a cooktop.
Installation location
This appliance should be installed in a dry, well-ventilated room.
This appliance should not be installed where it is exposed to direct sunlight or directly adjacent to a heat-producing appliance such as a cooker, an oven or a radiator, under a hob or near a window in direct sunlight. The higher the ambient temperature of the room, the longer the compressor runs, and the more energy the appliance requires to operate. The appliance should be installed in a dry, well ventilated room.
When installing the appliance, please note:
- The electrical socket must be easily accessible in an emergency, not concealed behind the appliance.
- The plug and cord must not touch the back of the appliance as they could be damaged by vibrations from the appliance.
- Do not plug in other devices behind this appliance.
⚠️ In environments with high humidity condensation may appear on the external surfaces of the appliance.
Condensate can cause corrosion on external appliance walls.
For prevention, it is advisable to install the appliance with sufficient ventilation in a dry and/or air conditioned room.
After installation make sure that the appliance door closes properly, the air vents are not covered and that the appliance has been installed in accordance with these installation instructions.
Climate class
The appliance is designed for use within a certain climate range (ambient temperatures) and should not be used outside this range. The climate range of the appliance is stated on the data plate inside the appliance.

Operating in a room which is too cold will cause the compressor to turn off for too long, causing the internal temperature in the appliance to rise, resulting in damage.
Ventilation
WARNING! Fire hazard!
Operation of the appliance is limited. Keep the ventilation slits free from obstruction.
⚠️ If the ventilation slits are not kept free and unobstructed the compressor will switch on more often and will run for longer.
This can cause higher energy consumption and to an increased compressor operating temperature, which can result in damage to the compressor.
Do not block the ventilation slits.
The air at the back wall of the appliance warms up. Therefore the cabinet must be constructed in such a way that ensures unhindered ventilation (see "Built-in dimensions").

- The air influx ① enters via the plinth and the air outlet ② is at the top at the rear of the cabinet.
- To ensure ventilation, an air channel of a minimum 9/16" (40 mm) depth must be provided at the back of the appliance.
- The ventilation slits in the plinth, in the cabinet, and under the top of the cabinet must provide a total passage volume of at least 31 square inches to allow the warm air to dissipate unimpeded.
If you wish to fit a grille in the ventilation openings, the ventilation openings must be larger than 31 square inches. The passage volume of 31 square inches is the total area of the opening slits in the grille.
- Important! The larger the ventilation slits, the more economically the appliance will work.
The ventilation slits must not be blocked or obstructed in any way. Clean the ventilation slits on a regular basis.
Upper ventilation slit
The ventilation slit at the top of the appliance can be constructed in different ways:

① directly above the appliance with a ventilation grille (total passage volume of min. 31 square inches) ② between the cabinetry and the ceiling ③ through a suspended ceiling.
Lower ventilation slit
The appliance can be ventilated via the cabinet plinth with the ventilation grille supplied or with a minimum ventilation opening of 31 square inches cross-section area. When using the grille supplied, please proceed as follows:

■ Cut an opening in plinth ② as shown in the diagram. ■ Place ventilation grille ① in the opening. ■ Push snap fasteners ③ into the ventilation grille from behind until the hooks touch the plinth. ■ Reinstall the plinth with the ventilation grille.
Cabinet doors
An upper cabinet door for the refrigerator section and a lower cabinet door for the freezer section are required.
The cabinet doors must be at least 5/8" (16 mm) / 3/4" (19 mm) thick.
⚠️ If the cabinet doors are too heavy, this can cause damage!
Fitted cabinet doors that exceed the permissible weight can cause damage to the hinges, which can affect the functioning of the appliance.
Before fitting cabinet doors, ensure that the weight of the door does not exceed the maximum permitted.

Calculating cabinet door sizes
The width of the cabinet doors depends on the style of the kitchen and the gap between the unit door panels.
When calculating the height of the cabinet doors, remember that the top edge of the cabinet doors must be at the same height as that of the doors of the adjacent units.
The following gaps are required:
- The horizontal gap between the cabinet door and the cupboard door above it must be at least 1/8" (3 mm).
- The vertical gap between the cabinet doors should be approx. 1/8" (3 mm). The exact value will depend on the radius of the edge of the cabinet door.
The cabinet door must be installed level, and not under tension.

Calculating the height of the cabinet doors
These examples are based on the following measurements, which may vary depending on the design of the kitchen:
- The horizontal gap between cabinet doors ① and ② is F = approx. 1/8" (3 mm). This gap must be within the hatched area (see drawing).
- The thickness of the cover panel ⑤ and the base ⑥ of the fitted unit is usually 3/4" (19 mm).
- Height of freezer section cabinet door ②
- The freezer section cabinet door must be at least A = 27 3/8" (695 mm) to cover the bottom section of the appliance.
- To cover the front of the cabinet floor panel ⑥, add the height of the cabinet base to height A:
Ⓐ _ = A + G _ 4 = 2 8 1 / 8" (7 1 4 mm).
- The height of the cabinet door may need to be altered depending on the adjacent kitchen units:

Before installing the appliance
■ Before installation, remove the bag of installation and other accessories from the appliance and remove the profile strip from the outer appliance door. ■ Do not remove the following from the back of the appliance:

- the spacers (depending on the model). They ensure the distance required between the back of the appliance and the wall.
- the bags located in the metal grille (heat exchanger, depending on model).
These are required for the functioning of the appliance. Their contents are not toxic or hazardous.
■ Remove the cable clips from the back of the appliance.

■ Remove red transport safety device ① (depending on model) and use the stopper supplied to cover the hole ②.
Wall spacer at the back
At a furniture depth of less than
21 3/4" (553 mm), you can remove the wall spacer from the back of the appliance so that you can push the appliance right into the niche.
Removing the wall spacer can increase energy consumption as there is then a smaller ventilation area.

■ Loosen the screw and remove the wall spacer.

If the appliance is suitable for installation in a niche, ensure before installation that it has precisely the correct dimensions. The specified ventilation grille dimensions must be observed to ensure that the appliance functions correctly.

The door hinges are set ex factory to allow the appliance doors to be opened wide.
However, if the opening angle of the doors needs to be limited for any reason, the hinge can be adjusted to accommodate this.
If, for example, the appliance doors would otherwise hit an adjacent wall, you should limit their opening angle to approx. 90°.
The locking pins for limiting the door opening must be fitted before the appliance is installed.
The refrigerator section door must be removed in order to insert the pins into the upper hinge of the freezer section door.

■ Insert the pins supplied into the hinges from above.
This will limit the opening angle of the appliance door to approx. 90°.
Changing the door hinges
Always change the door hinge with the assistance of another person.
The appliance is supplied right-hand hinged. If left-hand hinging is required, the hinges must be changed.
The following tools are required for changing the door hinging:

Open both appliance doors.
Remove the shelves/bottle shelf from the appliance door.

Remove covers ①, ②, ③ and ④.

Loosen screws ⑤ and ⑥ on the hinges a little. Push appliance doors ⑦ and ⑧ outwards and take them off.

Remove screws ⑤ completely. Place securing element ⑨ on the opposite side and loosely fasten screws ⑤. Remove the screws ⑥ completely and screw them lightly into the other side.

If you have inserted pins into the hinges to limit the opening angle of the door:
Remove the pins upwards and out of the hinge.
Changing the door hinges
Carry out the following steps for each door.
Unscrew the soft-close mechanism
The soft-close mechanism folds in when dismantled.
Place the door with the front facing down on a stable surface.

Remove the soft-close mechanism ⑩ from the ball joint. Unscrew the mount ⑪ and pull the soft-close mechanism ⑩ towards you and off.

Using a screwdriver, remove the ball joint ⑫ and screw it into the adjacent hole. Now turn over the appliance door so that outer side faces upwards (hinges remain open).
Do not close the hinges.
■ Remove the screws ⑬. ■ Place each hinge in the corner diagonally opposite its original position ⑭.
Fastening the soft-close mechanism
■ Now turn over the appliance door so that the outer side faces downwards.

■ Screw the mount ⑪ onto the hinge and firmly tighten. ■ Pull the soft-close mechanism ⑩ so that it extends, and hook it onto the ball joint.

■ Push appliance doors ⑦ and ⑧ onto screws ⑤ and ⑥ (pre-fitted) and tighten screws ⑤ and ⑥. ■ Replace covers ①, ②, ③ and ④.

■ Refit the pins into the top of the hinges to prevent the doors from opening too far.
Building in the appliance
Two people are required to install the appliance.
■ Install the appliance in a stable, solid housing unit, positioned on an even and level floor. ■ Secure the cabinetry against tipping.

■ Align the appliance using a spirit level. The cabinet corners must be at 90° angles to each other otherwise the cabinet door will not sit straight on all 4 corners. ■ The required ventilation slits must be ensured (see "Installation - Ventilation" and "Installation dimensions").
To install the appliance, you will need the following tools:

The following installation parts are required:
All installation parts are number coded. This coding is also used in the installation instructions.
- For building the appliance into the niche:

- For fitting the cabinet doors:

All installation steps are shown on a right-hinged appliance. Please be aware of this if you are changing the hinging to the left.
Preparing the appliance
■ Position the appliance directly in front of the cabinet niche.

■ Push filler strip lugs ① into the holders from the front.

■ Screw brackets ④ using hex screw ⑤ to the pre-drilled holes in the appliance door. Using the pre-drilled holes in the appliance door, secure a second pair of mounting brackets ④ to the handle area of the door. ■ Push the appliance two-thirds of the way into its niche. Make sure that the power cord does not get trapped.
Tip: Tie a piece of string to the plug to "lengthen" the power cord.
Pull the power cord through the cabinet by the other end of the string so that the appliance can be connected to the power supply easily after installation.
With 5/8" (16 mm)-thick unit walls only:

■ Clip spacers ② and ③ onto the hinges on the right. ■ Open the appliance doors.

■ Remove cover ⑥. ■ Attach securing plate ⑦ loosely with screws ⑧ to the top left of the appliance. Leave the screws loose so the plate can still be moved. ■ Push contact component ⑨ onto securing bracket ⑩. - Fix securing bracket ⑩ loosely with screws ⑪ to the bottom of the appliance. Leave the screws loose so the bracket can still be moved.

■ Carefully remove the protective foil from profile strip ⑬. ■ Stick on profile strip ⑬ flush with the front of the appliance at the side on which the door will open.
- Place the profile strip on the bottom edge of the securing bracket.
- Stick it down lengthways.
Fitting the appliance
■ Now push the appliance into the niche until all securing brackets make contact with the front edge of the cabinet side wall.

- ⑭ For 5/8" (16 mm)-thick cabinet walls:
The spacers make contact with the top and bottom of the front edge of the cabinet side walls.
- ⑮ For 3/4" (19 mm)-thick cabinet walls:
The front edges of the top and bottom hinges are flush with the front edge of the cabinet side walls.
■ Check again that securing brackets at the top and bottom are flush with front edge of the cabinet side wall.
This ensures a distance of 1 5/8" (42 mm) to the front edges of the cabinet side walls all the way round.
For units with door contact components (such as nubs, sealing lips etc.), you must take account of the dimensions of the door contact components to maintain a distance of 1 5/8" (42 mm) all the way round.
■ Pull the appliance forward by the required amount.
The hinges and covers will now be positioned correctly.
Tip: Remove the door contact components. The door will be flush with the surrounding cabinet doors.
■ ⑯ Using the wrench supplied, adjust the adjustable feet at each side of the appliance so that it stands upright.
The door may not close properly if a distance of 1 5/8" (42 mm) (between the body of the appliance and the front of the cabinet side walls) is not maintained all the way round.
This can cause the formation of ice or condensation and other problems that can result in increased energy consumption.
Securing the appliance in the niche

■ Push the appliance onto the cabinet wall on the hinge side. ■ To join the appliance to the cabinet, screw fixing plate screws ⑲ into the top, middle and bottom of the lug of the hinge.

■ Push the loose securing bracket against the cabinet wall. ■ Fix securing bracket ⑩ to the cabinet wall with screw ⑲. Pre-drill the hole in the cabinet wall if necessary. ■ Fix securing bracket ⑦ to the cabinet wall with screws ⑳. Pre-drill the holes in the cabinet wall if necessary.
Caution! Press the protruding bracket against the cabinet wall with your thumbs while tightening the screws. The appliance must not shift backwards.
■ Now tighten screws ⑧ and ⑪ again.

■ Snap off any protruding ends from the securing bracket. They are no longer required and can be disposed of. ■ Place relevant covers ⑥ and ②1 on the securing bracket.
To give the appliance additional security in the niche push the batons supplied between the appliance and the cabinet base:

■ First secure handle ② to one of the batons ② . ■ Guide it into the channel as far as it will go. Now remove the handle, place it on the other baton and guide this in too.
Important! Keep the handle in case you want to move the appliance at a later date. ■ Close the appliance doors.
Fitting the cabinet doors
An installation set or an extra pair of securing brackets is available from Miele Service or from specialist retailers for the installation of large and divided cabinet doors.
Complete the following steps on both doors.

■ The distance between the appliance door and the mounting frame is set to 5/16" (8 mm). Check this distance and adjust it if necessary. ■ Push the installation aids ② to the height of the cabinet: the lower contact edge X of the installation aids must be at the same height as the upper edge of the cabinet door to be fitted (▲ symbol).

Tip: Push installation aids ② to the height of the adjacent cabinet doors with the cabinet front.

■ Unscrew nuts ③ and remove mounting frame ④ together with installation aids ②.
Building in the appliance
■ Place the cabinet door with the outer side downwards on a stable surface.

■ Draw a faint central line with a pencil on the inside of cabinet door ⑤. ■ Hang mounting frame ④ with the installation aids on the inside of the cabinet door. Align the mounting frame centrally. - Secure the mounting frame with at least 6 short fixing plate screws ⑥. (for cassette doors use only 4 screws at the edge). Pre-drill the holes in the cabinet door if necessary. ■ Pull the installation aids upwards and out ⑦.
Turn the installation aids and push them all the way into the middle slot of the mounting frame for safe keeping.

Push side cover ⑰ onto the mounting frame opposite the hinge side. Turn the cabinet door over and attach the handle (if required).
Open the appliance door.

Hang the cabinet doors on adjusting bolts ⑧. Screw nuts ③ loosely onto the adjusting bolts. Close the door and check the distance between the door and adjacent cabinets and fixtures. The gaps should be even.
Adjusting the position of the door
- Adjusting the sides (X): Adjust the cabinet door.
- Adjusting the height (Y): Turn adjusting bolts ⑧ with a screwdriver.
The distance between the appliance door and the mounting frame is set to 8 mm. Only adjust the distance within the given range.

Tighten nuts ③ on the appliance doors with ring spanner ⑩ while counter-holding adjusting bolts ⑧ with a screwdriver. Filler strip ⑪ must not protrude; it must completely disappear into the niche.

Pre-drill fixing holes ⑫ in the cabinet door and fasten screws ⑬. Make sure both metal edges are flush (// symbol). Close the appliance door and the cabinet door.
Adjusting the depth (Z)
Loosen screws ⑨ at the top of the appliance door and screw ⑭ at the bottom of the securing bracket. Push on the appliance door until there is a gap of 1/16" (2 mm) between the cabinet door and the cabinet carcase.
Tighten all the screws again.

Replace upper cover ⑮ and click it into place.

Push up side covers ⑯ so that they audibly click into place.
The appliance is properly installed in the niche if:
- The doors close properly.
- The doors are not sitting against the cabinet carcase.
- The seal on the top corner of the handle side is firmly seated.
■ To check this, place a lamp that is switched on inside the appliance and close the appliance doors.
Make the room dark and then check whether you can see light shining out from the sides of the appliance. If so, go back and check the individual installation steps.
