BEFORE USING YOUR APPLIANCE
Your new appliance is exclusively for domestic use.
The freezer compartment was be used for freezing fresh and cooked food, making ice cubes, and storing frozen food; defrost is operated manually.
The refrigerator compartment, which has an automatic defrost feature, is used for the storage of fresh food and beverages.
To get the most out of your new appliance, read the user handbook thoroughly. The handbook contains a description of the appliance and useful tips for storing food.
Keep this handbook for future consultation.
- After unpacking the appliance, make sure that the door shuts properly.
Any damage must be reported to your dealer within 24 hours after delivery of the appliance.
- Wait at least two hours before connecting the appliance to the power supply in order to ensure the refrigerant circuit is fully efficient.
- Appliance installation and electrical connections must be carried out by a qualified electrician, in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and local regulations.
PROTECTING THE ENVIRONMENT
1. Packaging
The packaging material is entirely recyclable, and is marked with the recycling symbol(\$). Follow local regulations for scrapping.
Keep the packaging materials (plastic bags, polystyrene parts, etc.) out of reach of children, as they are potentially dangerous.
2. Appliance
The appliance is made from recyclable materials. Dispose of the appliance in conformity with local environmental regulations.
Make the appliance unusable by cutting off the power cord. The appliance must be consigned to an authorised collection centre for the recovery of refrigerant gas.
This appliance does not contain CFCs (replaced with R134a) or HFCs (replaced with R600a - Isobutane). For more information, refer to the rating plate affixed to the appliance.
HINTS FOR SAVING ENERGY
- Use the thermostat to set the correct temperature in accordance with the indications on the enclosed product chart.
• Installation in an area exposed to direct sunlight or in proximity to heat sources will increase power consumption and should therefore be avoided.
- For built-in appliances, ensure air vents are not obstructed (see section "Maintenance and Cleaning").

For free-standing appliances, remove dust from the condenser at the back of the appliance at least once a year (see section "Maintenance and Cleaning").

Do not place hot food in the refrigerator.
- Limit the number of times the refrigerator and freezer compartment doors are opened.
• Defrost the appliance at least twice a year.
PRECAUTIONS AND GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS
- Use the refrigerator compartment only for storing fresh food and beverages and use the freezer compartment only for storing frozen food, freezing fresh food and making ice cubes.
- Do not cover or obstruct the air vents of the appliance.
- Do not store liquids in glass containers in the freezer compartment - danger of bursting.
- Do not eat ice cubes or ice lollies immediately after taking them out of the freezer compartment - risk of "cold" burns.
- Do not allow children to play or hide inside the appliance - risk of becoming entrapped and suffocating.
- Before servicing or cleaning the appliance, unplug it from the mains or disconnect the electricity supply.
- The power cable can only be replaced by an authorised person.
• This appliance is intended to come into contact with foodstuffs and conforms to D.L. 108 of 25.01.1992 (European Directive 89/109/EEC).
Appliances with Isobutane (R600a)
Isobutane is a naturally occurring low environmental impact gas. Caution is required, however, because Isobutane is inflammable. Therefore, it is essential to ensure that refrigerant pipelines are not damaged.
HOW TO OPERATE THE REFRIGERATOR COMPARTMENT
Switching on the appliance
Plug in the appliance.
The thermostat knob in the refrigerator compartment is used to adjust the temperature in the refrigerator compartment; no temperature adjustment is required for the freezer compartment.
Note:
Storing vegetables with high water content can cause condensation to form on the glass shelf of the crisper: this will not affect the correct operation of the appliance.
Temperature adjustment
- To ensure correct operation and the best possible food storage in both compartments, set the thermostat in accordance with the indications on the enclosed product chart.

To alter the temperature in the refrigerator compartment set the thermostat knob to:
-
I o w enumbers 1-2 if you require HIGHER temperatures;
- numbers 3-4 for INTERMEDIATE temperatures.
- higher numbers 5-7 for LOWER temperatures.
Thermostat setting on ●: all functions of the appliance including the interior light are switched off.
Defrosting of the refrigerator compartment is completely automatic.
Note:
Internal temperatures are affected by room temperature, frequency of door opening and the position of the appliance Thermostat settings must be regulated according to these factors.
Using the refrigerator compartment
Position the food as shown in the figure.

Notes:
- The space between the shelves and the rear wall of the refrigerator compartment must be unobstructed to allow air circulation.
- Do not place food in direct contact with the rear wall of the refrigerator compartment.
- Do not place hot food in the refrigerator.
• Store liquids in closed containers.
The appliance has a ¥ ar freezer compartment.
Food can be stored for the time indicated on the packaging. The freezer can also be used to freeze fresh food by positioning it on the racks; place frozen food in the lower basket so that there is no contact with fresh food that has yet to be frozen.
The amount of fresh food that can be frozen in 24 hours is indicated on the rating plate. (positioned at the side of the crisper).
Note:
The temperature in the freezer compartment is maintained at the ideal level for the storage of frozen food also during power failures of limited duration. However, it is advisable to avoid opening the freezer compartment door during such periods.
Freezing fresh food
- Press the fast freeze button (F) (if supplied) 24 hours before freezing fresh food; this will optimise the freezing process.
- Before freezing, wrap and seal fresh food in: aluminium foil, cling film, air and water-tight plastic bags, polythene containers with lids or special freezer containers.
- Arrange the fresh food in the top compartment, leaving enough space for air to circulate around packs. The lower grille (if supplied) can be removed to increase the capacity of the compartment.
- When putting food in to freeze, turn the thermostat control knob down half a position (e.g: from 3 to 2.5).
• The food will be completely frozen in 24 hours; the thermostat control knob can then be returned to the previous position (e.g from 2.5 to 3).
- The amount of fresh food that can be frozen in 24 hours, at an ambient temperature of +25°C, is indicated on the rating plate.
Important:
The table alongside shows the recommended maximum storage time for frozen fresh foods.
When purchasing frozen food products:
- ensure that the packaging is not damaged (frozen food in damaged packaging may have deteriorated). If the package is swollen or has damp patches, it may not have been stored under optimal conditions and defreezing may have already begun.
- When shopping, leave frozen food purchases until last and transport the products in a thermally insulated cool bag.
- Place the items in the freezer compartment as soon as you get home.
- If food has defrozen even partially, do not re-freeze it. Consume within 24 hours.
- Avoid, or reduce temperature variations to the minimum. Observe the best-before date on the package.
• Always observe the storage information on the package.
Making ice cubes
- Pour water into the ice tray up to 2/3 full and place it in the freezer compartment
- Do not use sharp or pointed instruments to detach the tray if it is stuck to the freezer bottom.
- Bend the ice tray slightly to remove the cubes.
MONTHS FOOD
HOW TO DEFROST THE REFRIGERATOR COMPARTMENT
Defrosting of the refrigerator compartment is completely automatic.
- Droplets of water on the rear wall of the refrigerator compartment indicate that the periodic automatic defrost cycle is in progress.
- The defrost water is routed to a drain outlet and into a container from which it evaporates.
- Clean the defrost water drain outlet regularly using the tool supplied with the appliance. This precaution ensures that defrost water is removed correctly from the interior of the refrigerator compartment.

HOW TO CLEAN AND DEFROST THE FREEZER COMPARTMENT
Defrost the freezer compartment at least twice a year and whenever the formation of ice is excessive.
It is perfectly normal for ice to form. The amount and speed at which the ice forms depends on ambient conditions and the frequency with which the door is opened. Ice formation is concentrated at the top of the compartment and does not affect the efficiency of the appliance.
If possible, defrost the freezer compartment when it is nearly empty.
- Remove the food from the freezer compartment wrap in newspaper and store together in a cool place or in a portable cooler.
- Unplug the appliance.
- Leave the compartment door open to allow the ice on the walls to melt.
- Remove the defrost water from the bottom of the freezer compartment.
- Clean the interior with a sponge soaked in warm water and/or neutral detergent. Do not use abrasive products.
Note: Do not use sharp or pointed metal instruments to scrape off ice; do not heat the freezer compartment artificially.
- Wipe down the interior and dry thoroughly.
- Put the food back into the freezer compartment.
- Close the door.
- Plug in the appliance again.
- Switch the appliance on.
MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
Before any cleaning or maintenance operation, unplug the appliance from the mains or disconnect the electrical power supply.
- Clean the appliance with a sponge soaked in warm water and/or neutral detergent. Do not use abrasive products.
- Rinse the interior and dry with a soft cloth.
- Clean the outside with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive products, scourers, stain-removers (e.g. acetone, trichloroethylene) or vinegar.
Built-in appliances
- Clean air vents periodically with a vacuum cleaner or a brush (A).
Free-standing appliances
• Periodically clean the condenser at the rear of the appliance with a vacuum cleaner or a brush (B).
Prolonged disuse
- Empty the refrigerator and freezer compartments.
- Unplug the appliance.
- Defrost and clean the interior.
- When not in use, leave the door of the appliance open to prevent oxidation, the formation of mould and unpleasant odours.
TROUBLE-SHOOTING GUIDE
- The appliance is not working.
• Is there a power failure?
- Is the power plug properly inserted in the mains socket?
• Is the mains power switch set to ON?
- Has the fuse blown?
• Is the power cord in perfect condition?
• Is the thermostat set to (Off)?
- Temperature inside the compartments is not low enough.
• Is the door shut properly?
• Is food obstructing proper door closure?
- Is the appliance installed next to a heat source?
• Is the thermostat setting correct?
- Are the air circulation vents blocked?
- Temperature inside the refrigerator compartment is too low.
• Is the thermostat setting correct?

The appliance is excessively noisy.

Has the appliance been installed correctly?

Are the pipes at the back touching or vibrating?

Water collects at bottom of refrigerator compartment.
• Is the defrost water drain blocked?
- Ice forms on the rear wall of the refrigerator compartment.
• Is food directly touching the wall?
- Excessive frost build-up in the freezer compartment.
• Is the door shut properly?
• Is food obstructing proper door closure?
There is, however, no defect is occurring if:
- The front edge of the appliance is hot (this prevents the formation of condensation).
- Gurgling and screeching noises can be heard coming from the appliance: this is caused by the circulation of the refrigerant fluid.
AFTER-SALES SERVICE

See if you can solve the problem yourself with the help of the "Trouble-shooting guide".

Switch the appliance on again to see if the problem has been solved.
If it has not, disconnect the appliance from the power supply and wait for about an hour before switching on again.

Note:
The direction of door opening can be changed. If this operation is performed by After-sales Service it is not covered by the warranty.
INSTALLATION
• Install the appliance away from heat sources. Installation in a hot environment, direct exposure to the sun or installation near heat sources (heaters, radiators, cookers) will increase power consumption and should therefore be avoided.
- Do not obstruct the circulation of air above and below the appliance.
- Clean the inside (see section "Maintenance and Cleaning").
Electrical connection
• Electrical connections must be made in accordance with local regulations.
• Voltage and power consumption are indicated on the rating plate located inside the appliance at the side of the crisper.
For free-standing appliances (not built-in)
- The following minimum distances must be respected:
- 30 cm from coal or paraffin stoves;
-
3 cm from electric and/or gas stoves.

To optimise appliance efficiency, leave a 5 cm gap above the appliance and make sure that adjacent kitchen units are sufficiently distanced to allow air circulation.
- Fit the spacers (if supplied) at the rear of the appliance (see figure).
• Install the refrigerator in a dry, well-ventilated place. Make sure it is level. Adjust the front feet if necessary.
- Fit the accessories.
• Regulations require that the appliance is earthed. The Manufacturer declines all liabilities for injury to persons or animals or damage to property resulting from failure to observe these regulations.
- If the plug and socket are not of the same type, have the socket replaced by a qualified electrician.
- Do not use extension leads or adaptors.
Disconnecting the appliance
It must be possible to disconnect the appliance by unplugging it or by means of a two-pole switch fitted upline of the socket.

Fuse replacement
If the mains lead of this appliance is fitted with a BS 1363A 13amp fused plug, to change a fuse in this type of plug use an A.S.T.A. approved fuse to BS 1362 type and proceed as follows:
- Remove the fuse cover (A) and fuse (B).
- Fit replacement 13A fuse into fuse cover.
- Refit both into plug.
Important:
The fuse cover must be refitted when changing a fuse and if the fuse cover is lost the plug must not be used until a correct replacement is fitted.
Correct replacement are identified by the colour insert or the colour embossed in words on the base of the plug.
Replacement fuse covers are available from your local electrical store.
Connection to a rewirable plug
If the fitted plug is not suitable for your socket outlet, then it should be cut off and disposed of in order to avoid a possible shock hazard should it be inserted into a 13A socket elsewhere.
A suitable alternative plug should then be fitted to the cable.

- The BLUE wire must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter "N" or coloured black.
- The BROWN wire must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter "L" or coloured red.
For the Republic of Ireland only
The information given in respect of Great Britain will frequently apply, but a third type of plug and socket is also used, the 2-pin, side earth type. In this case, the wire which is coloured GREEN AND YELLOW must be connected to the EARTH contact, and the two wires to the two pins, irrespective of colour. The supply to the socket must be fitted with a 16 amp fuse
