Frequently Asked Questions - SBX 10 SCOTT

How do I connect the SBX 10 to my AV receiver?
Connect an RCA cable from the receiver's subwoofer pre-out to the subwoofer's LFE input. Make sure the receiver's subwoofer output is enabled.
Where should I place the subwoofer for best bass?
Place the subwoofer in a corner of the room to reinforce bass. Avoid placing it directly against walls. Experiment with placement for optimal room acoustics.
How do I set the crossover frequency?
Set the crossover knob to match your main speakers' low-frequency limit, typically around 80 Hz for THX setups. Adjust to your preference: higher for more bass, lower for seamless integration.
Why is there no sound from the subwoofer?
Check that the subwoofer is powered on, the volume is turned up, and the input cable is securely connected. Ensure the receiver's subwoofer output is active and the crossover is not set too low.
How do I clean the subwoofer?
Unplug the subwoofer before cleaning. Wipe the exterior with a dry, lint-free cloth. Do not use any liquid or aerosol cleaners. Vacuum the port gently if dust accumulates.
What is the phase switch used for?
The phase switch (0° or 180°) adjusts the subwoofer's output relative to the main speakers. If the bass sounds weak or hollow, try flipping the switch to correct phase cancellation.
Can I use the SBX 10 with a soundbar?
Yes, if your soundbar has a subwoofer output (RCA). Connect using an RCA cable. Some soundbars may require a proprietary connection, so check your soundbar's manual.
Why is the subwoofer buzzing or humming?
Hum can be caused by a ground loop. Try plugging the subwoofer and receiver into the same power strip. Use a ground loop isolator on the RCA cable if needed.
What is the power consumption in standby?
In standby mode, the subwoofer consumes less than 0.5 W to meet energy-saving standards. It will automatically enter standby after a period of inactivity.
Does the subwoofer come with a warranty?
The Scott SBX 10 typically comes with a 2-year limited warranty. For specific warranty terms, refer to the included manual or contact Scott support.

POWER SUPPLY

Connect the AC power cord to the mains with AC 100-240V \~ 50/60Hz power source.

BASIC OPERATION

PAIRING

Pairing is to ensure your subwoofer can receive RF transmission correctly from the docking station.

  1. You have to reset the pairing first: when the docking station is in standby mode, use the pin (supplied) to press and hold the PAIR button of the docking station for more than 10 seconds until the source LEDS at the top of the docking station flash for few seconds.
  2. Press the PAIR button on the docking station then the PAIR button of the other modules within one minute. All the standby LEDs will blink rapidly until the pairing is successful in about one minute and the source LEDS at the top of the docking station will flash for few seconds. Then the station goes into standby mode.

Refer to the iDXS 10L or iXSW 50 manual for more information about pairing.

Bass volume control

Rotate the bass volume dial to adjust the volume.

Crossover frequency

Slide the switch to select the crossover frequency: 80, 120 or 160 Hz for different bass effect. This setting is depending on the music content.

Phase adjustment

As different rooms have different influences on the bass, the phase switch is used to compensate the room acoustic effect. Place the subwoofer as required, listen to strong bass music and then set the PHASE switch to 0° or 180° . Use the setting which gives a stronger bass effect. This is the best phase setting for your listening room.
