Frequently Asked Questions - Vaporetto SV300 POLTI

How do I fill the water tank on my Polti Vaporetto SV300?
Turn off and unplug the device. Open the water tank cap and fill with cold tap water up to the MAX level. Do not exceed. Close the cap securely.
How long does it take to heat up?
The Vaporetto SV300 heats up in approximately 3 minutes. The ready indicator light will turn on when steam is available.
Can I use additives or descaling liquids in the water?
No, only use clean cold tap water. Additives may damage the boiler and void warranty. For descaling, follow the manual instructions using a recommended descaling product.
How do I descale the steam cleaner?
Use a Polti descaling kit or a mixture of water and white vinegar. Fill the tank, heat, then dispense steam until tank is empty. Rinse thoroughly. Repeat if necessary.
What surfaces can I use the steam cleaner on?
Suitable for sealed tile, glass, stainless steel, and other hard surfaces. Not recommended for unsealed wood, laminate, or delicate fabrics. Always test on a small area first.
Why is steam not coming out?
Check if the device is properly heated, water tank is not empty, and the nozzle is not blocked. Turn off and allow to cool, then clean the nozzle with a pin if needed.
Can I use the steam cleaner while the tank is empty?
No, running dry can damage the heater. Always ensure there is water in the tank. The device will automatically shut off if water level is too low.
How do I clean the boiler?
Regular descaling helps maintain the boiler. For deep cleaning, use a Polti-specific descaling solution. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
Is the cord long enough for large rooms?
The cord is 5 meters long, which allows a good range. If more distance is needed, use an extension cord rated for at least 10A.
Where can I find spare parts or accessories?
Spare parts and accessories are available on the Polti official website or authorized dealers. Common parts include nozzles, brushes, and descaling kits.

IMPORTANT

Before leaving our factory all our products are rigorously tested. This is the reason why your Vaporetto may contain some residual water in the tank.

PREPARATION

- Remove the appliance from the packaging, checking that the product is whole and that all the parts are there.

- Insert the handle into the specific opening on the appliance (A)(Fig. 1), making sure that the pin on the handle lines up with the hole on the appliance (Fig. 1a).

- Unscrew the screw (B) from the appliance (A), using an appropriate screwdriver. Connect the appliance (A) to the brush (10) and tighten the screw (B) (Fig. 2).

Warning: Check every so often that the screw is tight.

- Remove the water tank (5) from the appliance pulling it upward (Fig. 3). Unscrew the cap with the water take-up hose and remove it from the tank (Fig. 4).

- Fill the tank with water using the jug supplied (Fig. 5). Water by its nature contains limescale which, as time goes by, can cause problems. To protect your appliance, use demineralised water.

Do not add other substances or additives to the tank.

- Screw the cap with the water take-up hose back on the tank and hook it back on the appliance (Fig. 6).

- Position the cloth (11/14) under the brush (Fig. 7) and fasten it by pulling the cord (Fig. 8).

Warning: Do not use the appliance without the cloth.

USE

- Plug the power lead (4) into a suitable socket with an earth connection. The power indicator light will come on (8).

- The power indicator light (8) will remain on constantly indicating that the appliance is connected to the mains.

- Wait for the pressure indicator lamp (9) to come on. At this point the appliance is ready for use.

- To release the brush (10) from the appliance, put your foot on the brush (10) and at the same time tilt the handle (1) (Fig. 10). To block it again, just return it to the original position (Fig. 10).

- Press the steam button (2) to dispense steam. To stop it, release the steam button (2).

- Clean the floors by moving the brush forward and backward.

• To clean rugs and carpets, rest the brush (with

VAPORETTO SV300

the cloth attached) on the special frame (12) so that it can slide on the surface (Fig. 9).

NOTE: the steam ready light (9) turns on and off during use. This indicates that the electric resistance is operating to keep temperature constant and is therefore quite normal.

Warning:

- To remove the cloth from the brush, detach the power supply plug from the electric socket and wait a few minutes to allow the cloth to cool.

NO WATER

The water level is always visible thanks to the transparent tank.

When the water inside the tank (D) has been used up, steam will stop being released.

To restart operations just fill the water tank (5) again as described in the paragraph "PREPARATION".

Warning: This must always be done after having disconnected the appliance from the mains.

LIMESCALE FILTER

By nature, water contains mineral salts that favour the formation of scale.

Vaporetto SV300 is supplied with a limescale filter (7) which reduces the passage of mineral salts and therefore the formation of limescale.

Always use demineralised water.

We recommend that the filter be changed 2 times per year.

To replace the filter, proceed as follows:

  • Unplug from the mains electricity.
  • Remove the water tank (5) (Fig. 3) pulling it upward, then remove the filter (7), still pulling upward (Fig. 13).
  • Position the new filter (7), push gently and make sure that it is perfectly inserted (Fig. 13), then reposition the water tank (Fig. 6).

Inside the package there is a spare filter (7), in addition to the one already mounted on the appliance.

Note: The limescale filters, as well as replacement cloths, can be purchased in all leading household appliance stores, or online at www.polti.com.

STORING THE DEVICE

Before replacing the appliance:

  • Unplug the power supply from the mains.
  • Completely empty the water tank (5) to avoid water leaks.
  • Before detaching the cloth from the brush, wait a few minutes to allow it to cool.
  • Wind the power cable around the special cable rewinds (3) and (6).

Warning:

  • Before using the appliance again, remember to unwind the power cable completely. The upper cable winder (3) rotates 180° in order to wind up the power cable quickly.
  • Do not keep the appliance connected to the power supply with the cable wound up.

PRACTICAL ADVICE FOR THE USE OF THE ACCESSORIES

PRECAUTIONS

  • Before treating leather, special fabrics and wood surfaces, consult the manufacturer's instructions and always carry out a test on a hidden part or on a sample of the material. Allow the steamed part to dry to make sure that no changes in colour or deformations have occurred.
  • Please pay careful attention when cleaning treated wood or terracotta flooring, as prolonged use of steam may damage the wax, polish or colour of the surfaces to be cleaned. We therefore recommend only steaming these surfaces for short periods of time, or cleaning using a previously steamed cloth.
  • The universal cloth (11) can be used on most surfaces. If when using the universal cloth (11), it does not slide smoothly, you can use the very smooth cloth (14).

CARE OF YOUR APPLIANCE

  • Before attempting any maintenance operation, make sure to always disconnect the appliance from the mains.
  • To clean the body of the appliance, simply use a moist cloth. Do not use solvents or detergents as these could damage the plastic surfaces.
  • The cloths provided can be washed by following the instructions included on the label.

TROUBLESHOOTING

PROBLEM SOLUTION
Steam does not come out- Check that the cable is properly plugged into the mains socket.- Check that the pressure indicator light (9) is on.- Check that there is water in the tank (5).If the problem persists after checking the above points, perform the following operation: disconnect from the mains and wait (approximately 2 hours) until the appliance cools, after which follow the points listed in the Chapter “Use”. If the problem persists, take it to an Authorized Service Centre.
