Frequently Asked Questions - OADE20 Omega Altise

How often should I clean the filters?
Clean the washable plastic filter every few weeks or when dirty. Use a vacuum or rinse with warm water (mild detergent if needed). Ensure completely dry before reinserting. The activated carbon filter cannot be cleaned; replace periodically.
Why does the dehumidifier stop working and show a red light?
The Water Full indicator (red) means the water tank is full or not positioned correctly. Empty the tank and reinsert it properly. The unit will resume operation automatically.
Can I use an extension cord?
It is not recommended. If necessary, use a heavy-duty cord rated at least 10A with a wire diameter of 1 mm² or more.
What is the ideal operating temperature range?
The dehumidifier works best between 5°C and 32°C. Below 5°C, ice may build up and damage the coil; above 32°C, performance may be reduced.
How do I set the timer to turn on/off automatically?
Press the Timer button repeatedly to set hours (0-24). The display shows remaining time. For delayed start: ensure unit is off, set timer, and it will start after the set hours. For delayed stop: set timer while unit is running.
The unit is noisy – what can I do?
Check that the dehumidifier is on a level, stable surface. Uneven floors can cause vibration noise. Also ensure the unit is not touching walls or objects.
How do I use the continuous drainage feature?
Remove the water tank, connect a hose (11mm inner diameter) to the drain hole inside the unit (top left corner). Route the hose to a floor drain. Replace the tank with the hose fitting in the groove. Ensure the hose is secure and check flow periodically.
What do the ambient light colors mean?
The front light indicates humidity level: Blue = above 70%, Green = 50%-70%, Red = below 50%, Flashing Red = water tank full.
How do I activate the ionizer/TiO2 function?
Press the Ionizer/TiO2 button. The indicator lights up when active. This helps remove airborne particles and deodorize. Press again to deactivate.
What should I do if the dehumidifier is leaking water?
If not using continuous drainage, ensure the rubber plug at the bottom is properly inserted. If using continuous drainage, check the hose connection and that the hose is not clogged or frozen.

HOW A DEHUMIDIFIER WORKS

This product is a dehumidifier. It controls relative humidity by passing the air through the unit, forcing the excess moisture to condensate over the cooling elements. Contact with this cold surface causes the moisture in the air to condense. This condensed water then drains safely into the water tank. The dried air then passes through the condenser where it is slightly warmed and re-enters the room at a slightly elevated temperature.

AIR OUTLET WIND FLAP FAN BLADE MOTOR COMPRESSOR AIR FILTER AIR INLET CONDENSER EVAPORATOR WATER TANK

WHERE TO POSITION THE APPLIANCE

Excess moisture will travel throughout your home, in the same way that cooking smells waft to every room in the house. For this reason, the dehumidifier should be positioned, so that it can draw this moist air towards it from all over the home.

Alternatively, if you have a serious problem in one area you can begin by positioning the dehumidifier close to this area and later moving it to a more central point.

When positioning the dehumidifier, ensure that it is placed on a level surface and that there is a minimum of 10 cm of space on either side of the unit to allow for efficient airflow.

This dehumidifier is fitted with castors for extra mobility, if you move the unit, it should first be switched off and the water tank emptied.

We do not recommend the use of an extension lead, so please try to ensure that the unit is sufficiently close to a fixed mains socket. If it is necessary to use an extension lead, please ensure the diameter of the wires of the cable is at least 1 mm2 (rated to at least 10A).

When the dehumidifier is in operation, outside doors and windows should be closed when necessary for most efficient use.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Plug the appliance into a correct mains socket.
  2. Place the appliance in a good position for operation.
  3. Press the Power button (13) and the compressor will begin to work (The Power indicator (12) will light up). To turn the appliance off, press a second time.
  4. Press the Humidity Setting button (1) to choose from continuously running, 40%, 50%, 60% or 70% humidity. The option will be displayed on the Working Mode indicator (2). Note that the Ambient light on the front of the appliance will light up depending on the ambient humidity:
    a) Blue: Ambient humidity is above 70%.
    b) Green: Ambient humidity is between 50% & 70%.
    c) Red: Ambient humidity is below 50%.
    d) Flashing Red: Water tank is full.

  5. Press the Speed/Ventilation button (10) to set the desired ventilation speed (as indicated by the low & high ventilation indicators (9 & 11)).

  6. The timer function is turned off (continuous) by default, Timer Operation indicator (4) off. To start a timer function, press the Timer button (15) repeatedly until the time (in hours) required is displayed on the Humidity/Temperature display (3). The display will revert to the ambient humidity after 8 seconds. Once the timer has finished, the compressor will turn off.

  7. The appliance can also be set up to turn on after a predetermined length of time. Do not turn the appliance on. Press the timer button until the desired time delay (in hours) is set. The appliance will start to run on the default settings (continuously) after the time delay has finished. Note: always make sure that the appliance has been set up correctly and that pets or children cannot access it before leaving it unattended.

  8. To check the ambient temperature, press the Temperature Display button (5) at any time and the ambient temperature will be shown on the Humidity/Temperature display (3) for 8 seconds.

  9. The Dryer function is used in situations where the moisture in the air needs to be removed as fast as possible, such as in a room where clothes are drying. Press the Dryer button (8) to turn the function on and the Dryer indicator (7) will light up. The function will run continuously. To stop the function, press the button once more (the indicator will turn off).

  10. The Ioniser/Titanium dioxide button (16) is used to help clean the air. Running the Air Ioniser function produces negatively charged ions which are released into the air, attracting airborne particles (including bacteria) and removing it from the air. Titanium dioxide, when placed under a UV light, is a photocatalyst, which gives it sterilising and deodorising properties. Press the button once to turn on both functions (Ioniser/Titanium dioxide indicator (6) turns on). Press a second time to turn the functions off.

DRAINAGE

Whenever the water tank is full, or the water tank is not positioned correctly, the compressor will stop and the Water Full indicator (14) will turn red.

To remove the water tank, pull the tank out squarely from the unit.

After emptying, replace the water tank. The tank must be properly positioned in order for the Water Full indicator to turn off and for the appliance to start operating.

CONTINUOUS DRAINAGE

When the dehumidifier is operated at very high humidity levels, the water tank will require more frequent drainage. In this situation, it may be more convenient to set the unit up for continuous drainage with the following procedures:

  1. Pull out the water tank.
  2. Connect a tube with an inner diameter of 11mm to the drain hole (inside the unit at the top left corner).
  3. Test that the water will drain through the tube freely, and that the tube will not fall from the drain hole. If the weather conditions are too cold, take care that the water inside the tube will not freeze (as this will damage the appliance & will not be covered under warranty).
  4. Place the water tank back into position. The tube should fit in the groove on top of the tank.
  5. Periodically check that the water is continuing to flow freely (at least every time the appliance is turned on).
