How do I set up the Gembird WNP-RP-002 as a Wi-Fi repeater?

Connect the repeater to a power outlet. Use a browser to access the web interface at http://192.168.10.1 (default login: admin/admin). Choose 'Repeater' mode and scan for your existing Wi-Fi network. Enter the network password and apply settings. The device will reboot.

What operating modes does this device support?

It supports three modes: Router (creates a new Wi-Fi network with wired internet), Repeater (extends existing Wi-Fi), and AP Client (connects a wired device to Wi-Fi).

How can I reset the repeater to factory defaults?

Press and hold the WPS button or the reset hole (if available) for about 10 seconds until the lights flash. Alternatively, log into the web interface and navigate to System Tools > Factory Defaults.

Does the WNP-RP-002 support 5GHz Wi-Fi?

No, it only supports 2.4GHz (IEEE 802.11b/g/n). It does not have a 5GHz radio.

What is the maximum Wi-Fi speed of this device?

The theoretical maximum speed is 300 Mbps when used with 802.11n devices. Actual speed depends on network conditions and interference.

How do I use the WPS button for quick setup?

Press the WPS button on your main router, then within 2 minutes press the WPS button on the repeater. The devices will automatically connect with encryption. Ensure the repeater is in repeater mode first.

Can I connect a wired device to the repeater?

Yes, the Ethernet port can be used to connect a wired device when the repeater is in Repeater or AP Client mode. In Router mode, it acts as a WAN port.

What should I do if I forget the admin password?

You need to reset the device to factory defaults (see reset procedure above). After reset, the default login is username: admin, password: admin.

How can I check the signal strength?

The device has a practical signal strength indicator on the front panel. The more LEDs lit, the stronger the signal from the source router.

Is it possible to update the firmware?

Yes, if newer firmware is available from Gembird. Log into the web interface, go to System Tools > Firmware Upgrade, and upload the downloaded .bin file. Do not power off during update.
