IMPORTANT: Pay particular attention to messages that contain the words DANGER, WARNING or CAUTION. These words are used to alert you to a potential hazard that can seriously injure you and others.

The instructions will tell you how to reduce the chance of injury and let you know what can happen if the instructions are not followed.

ATTENTION: These operating instructions are general. This means that certain functions apply to your freezer/freezer, while others do not.

Daily use

• When disconnecting the power, do not pull the power cord. Instead, firmly grasp the plug and pull out it from the outlet directly.
• If the power cord or plug shows any sign of damage, cease immediately and contact help.Kogan.com for support.
• Use a dedicated electrical outlet for this appliance. Avoid sharing the outlet with other appliances.
  • To avoid risk of fire, ensure the power plug is firmly connected to the electrical outlet.
• Ensure that the grounding electrode of the outlet is equipped with a reliable grounding line.
• In the event of leaking gas, turn off the valve of the leaking gas and then open the doors and windows in case of leakage of gas and other flammable gases. Do not unplug the freezer and other electrical appliances considering that spark may cause a fire.
• Do not use electrical appliances on the top of the appliance, unless recommended by Kogan.com.
• The gaps between freezer doors and between doors and freezer body are small. Do not place your hand in these areas to prevent potential injuries.
• Be gentle when closing the freezer door to avoid falling articles.
• Do not touch foods or containers with wet hands in the freezer when the freezer is running, especially metal containers to avoid frostbite.
• Do not allow children to climb into the freezer. Risk of suffocation and severe injuries.
• Do not place heavy objects on the top of the freezer. Objects may fall when closing or opening the door leading to potential injuries.
• To prevent damages to the appliance or risk of fires. Do not place flammable, explosive, volatile and highly corrosive items in the freezer.
• The freezer is intended for household use, such as storage of foods. It shall not be used for other purposes, such as storage of blood, drugs or biological products, etc.
• Do not store beer, beverages or other fluid contained in bottles or enclosed containers in the freezer. Bottles or enclosed containers may crack due to freezing.

To avoid contamination of food, familiarise yourself with the following:

• Opening the door for long periods can cause a significant increase of the temperature in the compartments of the appliance.
• Regularly clean surfaces that contact food and accessible drainage systems.
• Clean water tanks if they have not been used for 48h.
• To avoid, cross contamination, store raw meat and fish in suitable containers in the freezer.
• 2-star frozen-food compartments are suitable for storing pre-frozen food, storing or making ice-cream and making ice cubes.
• 1 star, 2 star and 3-star compartments are not suitable for the freezing of fresh food.
• For appliances without a 4-star compartment: this refrigerating appliance is not suitable for freezing foodstuffs.
• If the refrigerating appliance is left empty for long periods, switch off, defrost, clean, dry and leave the door open to prevent mould developing within the appliance.

CAUTION

• RCD Compatibility Notice: This product is not recommended for use with outlets or main switches equipped with RCD (Residual Current Device) protection. The normal operation of this freezer may cause unnecessary RCD tripping, which is not indicative of an electrical safety risk.
• Action if Tripping Occurs: If the RCD trips repeatedly during normal operation of the freezer, it is advised to connect the freezer to an outlet without RCD protection. This is to prevent frequent interruptions in service. Please ensure that all other safety requirements and installations comply with local electrical standards.

WARNING

Risk of child entrapment. Before you throw away your old freezer or freezer:

- Remove the doors and leave the shelves in place so that children cannot easily climb inside.

Notes:

• For the most efficient use of energy, keep all internal items such as trays, drawers, and shelves in the original position.
• This freezer is designed to be installed free standing and should not be built-in to prevent reducing the performance life.
• Due to technical changes and different models, some of the illustrations in this user guide may differ from your model.

INSTALLATION

Before First Use

• Unpacking: Remove all external and internal packaging. Clean the exterior with a soft, dry cloth and the interior with a damp, lukewarm cloth to remove any residue from manufacturing or shipping.
• Placement: Avoid installing the freezer in a narrow recess or in direct proximity to heat sources, direct sunlight, or areas with high moisture. These conditions could impair functionality and efficiency.
• Air Circulation: Ensure proper ventilation around the freezer to maintain optimal performance. When installing the freezer, ensure that 10cm of free space is left at both sides, 10cm at the rear and 30cm at the top of the unit.

Electrical Setup

• Voltage Check: Before connecting the freezer to your home's power supply, verify that the voltage listed on the appliance's rating label matches your home's voltage. Using the appliance with incorrect voltage can lead to damage.
• Grounding: The freezer must be properly connected to a grounded electrical outlet to prevent potential electric shock or other electrical hazards.

Connecting the Appliance

• After installing the product, allow it stand for more than 2 hours before turning on the power, otherwise it will lead to a decrease in cooling capacity or a damage to the product.
• Allow the appliance to run empty for 24 hours so the compartment can cool to the appropriate temperature.

• Depending on the climate class, this freezer is intended to be used at an ambient temperature range as specified in the following table.
• The product may not operate properly at temperatures outside of the specific range.
• You can find the climate class on the product label.

ATTENTION

The cooling performance and power consumption of the freezer may be affected by the ambient temperature, the door-opening frequency and the location of the freezer. The brand recommends adjusting the temperature settings as appropriate.

Leveling Feet

• To avoid vibration, the appliance must be levelled.
• If required, adjust the leveling feet to compensate for an uneven floor.
• The front should be slightly higher than the rear to aid in door closing.
• Leveling feet can be turned easily by tipping the cabinet slightly.
• Turn the leveling feet counterclockwise to raise the unit and clockwise to lower it.

Moving the Appliance

1. Remove all items from the appliance.
2. Pull the power plug out and fix it into the power plug hook at the rear or on top of the appliance.
3. Tape parts such as shelves and the door to prevent it from falling off while moving the appliance.
4. Move the appliance carefully with more than two people. When transporting the appliance over a long distance, keep the appliance upright.

Door Handle Installation

1. Remove the blanking plugs (A) from the door and use a Phillips head screwdriver to tightly secure the screws (C) into the screw holes (B).
2. Assemble the screw covers (D) on the screw hole of the handle.
3. Reverse this method for disassembly.

After connecting the power plug to the outlet, wait 2 or 3 hours before putting food into the appliance. If you add food before the appliance has cooled completely, your food may spoil.

Reversing the Door

Tool required: Philips head screwdriver, Flat bladed screwdriver and the included Allen key.

• Ensure the unit is unplugged and empty.
• To remove the door off, it is necessary to tilt the unit backwards. You should rest the unit on something solid so that it will not slip during the door reversing process.
• All parts removed must be retained for reinstallation of the door.
• Do not lay the unit flat as this may damage the coolant system.
• It is highly recommended that 2 people handle the unit during removal and reassembly.

Reversing the door:

1. Power off the freezer and remove all objects from the door trays.
2. Dismantle the screw hole caps, screws and handle and remove the plastic screw hole caps from the other side (refer to Door Handle Installation).
3. Dismantle the upper hinge cover, screws and upper hinge and remove the hole cover from the other side. Unplug the wiring connector on the top right side of the freezer (①, ②, ③ wiring connector).

1. Dismantle the door and bottom right hinge assembly (hinge shaft & adjustable foot & hinge).

Disassemble the bottom right hinge assembly and assemble the hinge shaft and adjustable foot on the other side of the hinge, then assemble the whole hinge assembly on the other side of the freezer.

1. Remove the door upper cover, install the upper hinge sleeve and door signal line to the other side and install the door upper cover.

Dismantle the right door stopper and sleeve pipe from the bottom right of the door.

Insert the sleeve pipe into the hinge hole on the bottom left of the door and take out the left door stopper from the accessory bag and assemble it on the bottom left door.

The right door stopper can be kept for future use.

1. Take out the top left hinge and top left hinge cover from the accessory bag. Place the door on the bottom hinge and mount the top left hinge.

Connect the signal line terminal ⑤ with the signal line terminal ①.

Connect the signal line terminal ⑥ to the door switch and connect the signal line terminal ② with the signal line terminal ④.

Notes:

Ensure all the wiring is properly connected before replacing the top hinge cover and hole cover.

Energy Saving Tips

- Do not position the appliance near heat sources such as cookers or radiators. High ambient temperatures cause the compressor to run more frequently, increasing energy consumption.

- Maintain sufficient airflow around the freezer. Ensure there is proper ventilation at the base, sides, and back of the appliance.

- Observe the spacing dimensions provided in the “Installation” section to promote better air circulation and efficiency.

- Arrange drawers, shelves, and trays as shown in the overview to maximise energy efficiency. Try to retain this configuration as much as possible.

- For additional storage, particularly for large frozen goods, the middle drawers and shelves can be removed. Remove the top and bottom drawers and shelves last if necessary.

- An evenly filled freezer aids in optimal energy use.

- Allow warm food to cool to room temperature before placing it in the freezer. This reduces the energy required to bring the food down to the desired temperature.

- Open the door only when necessary and close it quickly to minimise the loss of cold air.

- Set the freezer temperature to the highest feasible setting that still preserves your food. This contributes to energy efficiency.

- Ensure the door gaskets are intact and the doors close properly to prevent unnecessary energy loss due to air leaks.

1. The setting temperature is 8 or -16°C.
2. The setting temperature is 6 or -18°C.

• The actual control panel may differ from model to model.
• When the freezer is powered on, all temperature icons illuminate within 3 seconds.
• When powering on for the first time, the default set temperature is -20°C. After that, every time the freezer is powered on, it will run in accordance with the set temperature before last power off.

Freezer/Freezer Conversion

Press the Fridge/Freezer button for 3 seconds to switch from Freezer to Fridge mode. The corresponding temperature icon will illuminate.

Temperature Setting

Press the Temperature button to adjust the temperature. The freezer will run according to the new temperature setting after 15 seconds.

Quick Cooling Mode

• In Freezer mode, press the Temperature button until the Quick Cooling indicator illuminates. The freezer will operate at a preset temperature of 2°C.
• The Quick Cooling function will automatically discontinue after 6 hours, or it can be manually turned off 150 minutes after reaching the target temperature.

Quick Freezing Mode

• In Freezer mode, press the Temperature button until the Quick Freezing indicator illuminates. The freezer will operate at a preset temperature of -24°C.
• The Quick Freezing function will automatically discontinue after 24 hours, or when adjusting the temperature or mode.

Storing Food

Freezer:

• The freezer compartment is specifically designed for the low temperature freezing of food, long-term storage of frozen items, and making ice cubes.
• Be mindful of the star classifications (4-star, 2-star, and 1-star) within the freezer compartment, which indicate the maximum storage periods for different types of frozen food.
• Avoid placing fresh and frozen foods next to each other to prevent thawing of the frozen items.
• When freezing large quantities of fresh food like meat or fish, divide them into smaller portions for quicker freezing and easier future use.
• Always adhere to the storage times recommended by food manufacturers on packaging. If no information is provided, do not store food in the freezer for more than three months from the date of purchase.
• Ensure that any purchased frozen food was stored at the appropriate temperature before buying, and that its packaging is intact and undamaged.
• Store frozen food in suitable individual packages to prevent cross-contamination with adjacent foods. Thawed foods should be consumed immediately and should not be refrozen.
• In the event of a prolonged power failure or appliance malfunction, remove stored food to check its edibility, and keep it in a cool place or another functioning appliance.
• To defrost food, remove it from the freezer and allow it to thaw either at room temperature or in the refrigerator. For a quicker thaw, you can use the defrost function of your microwave.
• If only part of a packaged frozen item is needed, remove the required portion and promptly reseal the remainder to prevent freezer burn and minimize ice formation on the rest of the food.

Fridge:

• To reduce moisture and subsequent ice formation, never store liquids in the fridge compartment unless they are in sealed containers.
• Frost tends to concentrate in the coolest parts of the evaporator. Storing liquids uncovered can increase the need for frequent defrosting. Ensure all liquids are covered when stored.
• Never place warm foods directly into the fridge compartment. Allow them to cool down at room temperature first. This helps maintain efficient air circulation and prevents unnecessary temperature rises inside the compartment.
• Foods or food containers should not touch the back wall of the fridge to avoid freezing to the wall. Also, minimize the frequency of opening the refrigerator door to maintain the internal temperature.
• Meat and clean fish, when wrapped in a package or plastic foil, can be stored in the fridge compartment if they will be used within 1–2 days.
• Fruit and vegetables without packaging should be placed in the designated compartments for fresh produce to ensure optimal freshness.

ATTENTION

Storage of too much food during operation after the initial connection to power may adversely affect the efficiency of the refrigerator.

Storage Times

Storing food at inappropriate freezing temperatures or for too long can lead to a loss of quality or spoilage, resulting in food waste and potentially inedible items that could cause food poisoning. To ensure food safety and maintain quality, the freezer temperature should generally be set to at least -18^ C or colder.

Follow the maximum recommended storage times below:

• Stew, ice cream, sausages, bread: 2-6 months.
• Fish, shrimp, lamb, meat: 4-8 months.
  • Vegetables, fruits, poultry, beef: 6-12 months.

CLEANING & CARE

• Before Maintenance: Disconnect the appliance from the electrical supply and wait at least 5 minutes before restarting. This prevents damage to the compressor from frequent starting.
• Removing Frost and Ice: Do not use sharp objects to remove frost or ice. Avoid using heat sources like sprays, electric heaters, hair dryers, or steam cleaners as they can damage the plastic parts.
• Dust Removal: Clean the dust from the back of the unit at least once a year to prevent fire hazards and reduce energy consumption.
• Door Gasket Maintenance: Regularly check the door gasket for debris. Clean it with a soft cloth dampened with soapy water or a mild detergent solution.
• Interior Cleaning: Regularly clean the interior to prevent odours. Use a soft cloth or sponge with a solution of two tablespoons of baking soda mixed in a quart of warm water. Rinse with water and dry with a cloth.
• Drying: After cleaning, leave the door open to air dry the interior before reconnecting the power.
• Cleaning Difficult Areas: For narrow spaces, gaps, or corners, regularly clean with a soft rag or brush. Use auxiliary tools like thin sticks if necessary to ensure these areas are free of contaminants or bacterial buildup.
• Avoiding Harmful Cleaners: Do not use soap, scrub powders, spray cleaners, or harsh detergents inside the fridge, as they may impart odours or contaminate food.
• Exterior Cleaning: Wipe the outer surface with a soft cloth dampened with soapy water or a mild detergent, then dry it thoroughly.
• Avoiding Abrasives and Solvents: Do not use hard brushes, steel wool, wire brushes, abrasives like toothpaste, or solvents such as alcohol, acetone, or benzene. These can damage the fridge's surface and interior components. Also, avoid boiling water and highly acidic or alkaline substances.
• Water Exposure: Never rinse the appliance directly with water or other liquids, as this can lead to short circuits or impair electrical insulation.

ATTENTION

The appliance should run continuously once it is started. Generally, the operation of the appliance shall not be interrupted; otherwise, the service life may be impaired.

Defrosting

Even though this appliance features automatic defrosting, a layer of frost may still form on the interior walls of the freezer compartment if the door is frequently opened or left open for extended periods. Should the frost build-up become excessive, it's advisable to defrost when your food stock is low. Follow these steps for effective defrosting:

1. Preparation:

• Remove all food and accessory baskets from the freezer.
  o Unplug the appliance from the mains power.
• Leave the freezer doors open to begin the defrosting process.
  o Ensure the room is well-ventilated to help speed up thawing.

2. Cleaning post-defrost:

Once defrosting is complete, clean the freezer using the guidelines provided earlier for interior cleaning. This typically involves wiping down with a solution of baking soda and warm water, rinsing, and drying thoroughly.

Frost around vents.	Door not closed properly.	Ensure nothing obstructs the door from closing.

Understanding and Managing Common Noises

During normal operation, your refrigerator may produce sounds that are typical and do not indicate any issues with its functionality. Here's how to address and minimize some common noises:

• Uneven Placement Noise: If you hear noise due to the appliance not being level, adjust the position using the adjustable turn-in front feet. For refrigerators on tile floors, consider placing pads made of soft material under the rear rollers to dampen sound.
• Contact with Adjacent Furniture: Noise from the refrigerator touching nearby furniture can be resolved by slightly moving the refrigerator away from the furniture.
• Drawer or Shelf Creaks: If drawers or shelves are creaking, simply remove them and then reinsert to ensure they are properly aligned and seated.
• Clinking Bottles: To prevent bottles from clinking against each other, reposition them so they are not touching.

Additionally, sounds such as the compressor starting, or the cooling system operating are normal. These noises primarily result from the thermal expansion and contraction of the radiator as the cooling agent flows through the system.
