How do I teach-in the radio transmitter to a receiver?

The teaching procedure depends on the EnOcean system. Typically, use the system's app which guides you step by step. You can use the integrated NFC chip or the QR code on the sticker. Ensure the receiver is within range and the app is installed.

Can I switch between encrypted and unencrypted transmission?

Yes. To switch from unencrypted to encrypted with explicit sequence counter, press three push-buttons and the activation bar simultaneously 2 times. The transmitter is then ready for encrypted teaching. Refer to the manual for details.

What is the maximum range of this radio transmitter?

In free field up to 300 m, in buildings approx. 30 m. Wall penetrations are not recommended as they attenuate the signal. Metal parts or moisture can also reduce range.

Is this device suitable for safety-related applications?

No. The radio communication uses a non-exclusively available transmission path, making it unsuitable for safety applications such as emergency stop or emergency call.

How should I clean the device?

Use water, degreaser, glass cleaner, or methylated spirit. Do not use bath or all-purpose cleaners, or aggressive detergents. Ensure the surface is dry before cleaning.

What is the power source for the radio transmitter?

The device is battery-free and generates its own transmitting energy from the mechanical energy of actuation (energy harvesting). No external power supply or batteries are needed.

How do I mount the device with adhesive?

Clean the surface with a suitable cleaner (water, degreaser, etc.). Remove the protective film from the adhesive pad and stick it on the surface. Press firmly for about 10 seconds. Then remove the film for the holder plate and stick the holder plate onto the pad. Let it cure for 24 hours for full strength.

Can I use this transmitter with any EnOcean receiver?

Yes, it is designed for the EnOcean radio system. A channel can be taught-in to any number of compatible receivers. The receiver will then clearly assign signals from this transmitter.

What is the NFC chip used for?

The NFC chip (NFC Forum Type 2 Tag) allows contactless configuration and teaching-in of the transmitter using a compatible app. It is an alternative to the QR code method.

What is the operating temperature range?

The ambient temperature during operation is -5 to +45 °C. Storage and transport temperature is -25 to +65 °C. Humidity should be 0 to 95% without condensation.

1 Safety instructions

Electrical devices may only be mounted and connected by electrically skilled persons.

Serious injuries, fire or property damage possible. Please read and follow manual fully.

The radio communication takes place via a non-exclusively available transmission path, and is therefore not suitable for safety-related applications, such as emergency stop and emergency call.

These instructions are an integral part of the product and must remain with the end customer.

3 Function

Intended use

- Radio transmitter for the transmission of switching, dimming or shutter commands to radio receivers of the EnOcean radio system

- Mounting on appliance box according to DIN 49073, screw fixing on walls or adhesive fixing on smooth, even surfaces (glass). Adhesive pad included.

4 Information for electrically skilled persons

Installation and electrical connection

DANGER

Electrical shock on contact with live parts in the installation environment.

Electrical shocks can be fatal.

Before working on the device, disconnect the power and cover live parts in the area!

Installation location

The radio range in buildings is approx. 30 m without wall penetration.

A wall penetration is not recommended, because it attenuates the radio signal too much.

Adhesive fixing

Important:

The final strength of the adhesive is only reached after 24 hours.

• After gluing the holder plate, let the adhesive cure a little.

Important:

The installation location cannot be changed after the adhesive fixing.

• To test the range, carry out commissioning before adhesive fixing.

Prerequisite:

Surface is dry, clean, stable and even.

Suitable cleaning agents:

water, degreaser, glass cleaner, methylated spirit

Not suitable for cleaning:

Bath or all-purpose cleaner, aggressive detergents

• Remove the protective film from the back of the adhesive pad (1).
• Stick the adhesive pad aligned on the surface.
  Press firmly for about 10 seconds.
• Remove the protective film (8) for the holder plate (2).
  Do not remove the remaining protective films.
• Stick the holder plate onto the adhesive pad.

The radio transmitter is operated either via one rocker (2-channel) or via two rockers (4-channel). There are four

6 Commissioning

The commissioning of the radio transmitter depends on the receiver used in the EnOcean system. In the following description the commissioning is referred to as "teaching" in the receiver. A channel of the radio transmitter can be taught-in in any number of receivers. After teaching, the receiver can clearly assign the signals of the transmitter.

Operating mode

• Unencrypted transmission running (factory setting)
  Encrypted transmission:
• with implied sequence counter:
  only included in telegrams while teaching
• with explicit sequence counter (recommended):
  included in all telegrams

Prepare encrypted teaching

Switch from unencrypted to encrypted transmission with explicit sequence counter:

Requirements:

Unencrypted transmission active.

- Press three push-buttons (9) and press the activation bar (10) simultaneously 2 x. (fig. 5)

Radio transmitter is ready for teaching with encrypted transmission.

- Snap rockers back on.

To prepare teaching with implicit sequence counter, keep two push buttons of one channel (A or B) pressed and simultaneously press the activation bar 2 x.

i | If encrypted transmission is active, press the activation bar once while keeping two or three push-buttons pressed.

Teaching-in the radio transmitter

The EnOcean system used specifies the procedure for teaching. Usually, the system manufacturer provides an app

for this purpose. The app explains the teaching procedure step by step. Two methods can be used for teaching: - NFC chip

The chip is integrated in the radio module.

- QR code

The code is on a sticker on the back of the radio module.

Requirements:

- Radio network with receiver is ready for operation.

- Device with app and receiver are within range of the radio transmitter.

- App is installed.
