What height should I install the ZLine KECRN42 range hood above the cooktop?

The recommended installation height is between 30 inches (minimum) and 36 inches (maximum) above the cooking surface for indoor use. For outdoor (304 Series) installations, the hood must be mounted at least 36 inches above the grill.

What duct size does the KECRN42 use?

The duct size depends on the motor configuration. Single motor models use a 6-inch round duct and include a backdraft damper. Dual motor models use an 8-inch round duct without a backdraft damper. The hood comes with a transition piece and flexible duct for the respective size.

How do I clean the baffle filters?

The baffle filters are dishwasher safe. Remove them by sliding out of the channel, then wash with mild detergent. Ensure they are completely dry before reinstalling. Also, regularly empty the grease cup located under the motor blower.

Can the KECRN42 be used as a recirculating hood?

The KECRN42 is designed as a ducted (vented) range hood. It requires connection to an external exhaust duct. It does not support recirculation (charcoal filters are not included or mentioned). Use rigid or flexible ducting to vent outdoors.

What are the electrical requirements for the KECRN42?

The hood requires a 120 V, 20 amp circuit. It comes with a grounded three-prong plug that can be plugged into a standard outlet or directly wired. Ensure the circuit is properly grounded.

How do I install the chimney cover?

First, mount the top chimney mounting bracket centered above the hood. Slide the inner section of the two-part chimney up until the vertical vent slots are visible, then attach the top portion to the bracket with screws. Secure the lower chimney portion to the hood with the provided screws.

What parts are included with the KECRN42?

The package includes: main hood with lights and controls pre-installed, adjustable stainless steel chimney cover, transition piece (6" or 8"), baffle filters, flexible duct, packet of screws and anchors, top mounting bracket, and a grease cup.

Can the KECRN42 be installed outdoors?

Yes, but only the 304 Series (stainless steel) models are rated for outdoor use. For outdoor installation, maintain a minimum height of 36 inches above the grill. Standard models are intended for indoor use only.

How do I remove and replace the light bulbs?

The hood comes with pre-installed LED lights. If a light fails, the entire LED module may need replacement. Refer to the manual for specific instructions or contact ZLine customer service. Do not attempt to replace with non-LED bulbs.

Is the KECRN42 compatible with a damper?

Single motor models include a backdraft damper inside the transition piece to prevent air backflow. Dual motor models do not include a damper; you may need to install an external damper if required by local codes.

*Note: Wall range hoods with single motors will come with a square to 6" round transition piece and will include a back draft damper. The ducting with these range hoods is 6".

Dual motor wall hoods will come with a square to 8" round transition piece without a back draft damper. The ducting with these range hoods is 8".

*Use rigid ducting wherever possible. Try and minimize the use of elbows. More elbows and longer runs create higher static pressure. The hood comes with a grounded three prong plug that can either be direct wired or plugged into a 20 amp. circuit.

*The recommended height to install your hood is 30" minimum and 36" maximum above the cooktop.

*For Outdoor (304 Series) hood installation, the unit must be installed at a minimum of 36" above the grill.

Find the center of the wall where you are installing the hood. Make sure there is sufficient bracing to hold the weight of the hood. Mark your center line and measure out from the center to find your two mounting points. Make sure your mounting points are level when you mark them. It is recommended to install the hood directly into wood supports. (Figure 1)

Mark the mounting points and install the two mounting screws provided leaving the heads out 14 " to mount the hood. (Figure 1)

Mount the main body of the hood to the two screws and screw into place. (Figure 2)

Mount the top chimney mounting bracket centering it above the hood. (Figure 3)

Install the transition piece securing it with screws provided. (Figure 4)

Make your electrical and ducting connections. Try and minimize the use of elbows. More elbows and longer runs create higher static pressure. The hood comes with a grounded three prong plug that can either be direct wire or plugged into a 20amp. circuit. (Figure 5)

Connect the ducting to the transition piece using ring to hold into place. Attach ducting to the range hood. (Figure 6)

Install the two part chimneys on top of the hood. Slide the inside section up until the vertical vent slots are visible, attach top portion to mounting bracket with screws. Secure lower chimney portion to the hood with screws provided. (Figure 7)

Install plastic drip cup by sliding into brackets located at the bottom of the motor. Install •baffle channel and baffle filters. (Figure 8)

Not all models include baffle channels.

*Before installing baffle filters, make sure that you insert the grease cup under the motor blower.
