How do I clean the TV screen?

First, unplug the TV. Use a soft, dry micro-fiber cloth. For stubborn dirt, lightly dampen the cloth with water and wipe gently. Do not use alcohol, solvents, or abrasive cleaners. Wring out excess water to avoid liquid entering the TV. Never spray liquid directly on the screen.

What is the VESA mount pattern and screw size?

The VESA pattern is 200 mm x 100 mm. Use M4 screws with a pitch of 0.7 mm. The screw length should not exceed 10 mm (measured from the mounting surface). Always consult a qualified installer for wall mounting.

How do I connect my PC to the TV?

Use a VGA cable from your PC to the VGA port on the TV. Connect a 3.5 mm audio cable from your PC's audio out to the VGA Stereo Input on the TV. Then select the PC input source. For best quality, set your PC resolution to 1920 x 1080 at 60 Hz.

Why is there no picture on my TV?

Ensure the power cord is connected and the TV is turned on. Verify the video cable is securely attached to the correct input. Press the SOURCE button to select the appropriate input source. If the TV has been idle for 5 minutes without a signal, it may automatically turn off—this is a power-saving feature.

How do I scan for channels?

Press the MENU button, go to CHANNEL, then select Auto Scan. Choose between Air (antenna) or Cable, then press ENTER to start scanning. The TV will automatically store all available channels. If using a cable box or satellite box, you do not need to scan.

What is the universal remote code for this TV?

This TV follows SONY's universal remote codes. Refer to your universal remote manual to find the SONY codes. Common codes include 1001, 1002, etc. If you have trouble, contact your remote provider.

Can I play videos via USB?

No, the USB port only supports photo (JPEG, BMP, PNG) and music (MP3) files. It does not support video playback. For video, use HDMI or other video inputs.

How do I set up parental controls?

Press MENU, go to LOCK, enter the default password (0000). Set System Lock to On. Then you can adjust US TV and MPAA ratings, or Canadian ratings. This blocks channels or content based on the rating level.

Why does my TV turn off after 5 minutes?

This is a power-saving feature. If no signal is detected from the current input for 5 minutes, the TV will automatically shut down. Make sure your device is powered on and sending a signal. This applies to all inputs.

What should I do if the remote control stops working?

First, try replacing the batteries. If that doesn't work, turn off the TV, unplug it, remove the batteries from the remote for 30 minutes, press some buttons, then reinsert batteries and try again. Ensure there is a clear line of sight between the remote and the TV sensor (near the power indicator).

Television Antenna Connection Protection

External Television Antenna Grounding

If an outside antenna or cable system is to be connected to the LCD TV, make sure that the antenna or cable system is electrically grounded to provide some protection against voltage surges and static charges. Article 810 of the National Electrical Code,

ANSI/NFPSA 70, provides information with regard to proper grounding of the mast and supporting structure, grounding of the lead-in wire to an antenna discharge unit, size of the grounding conductors, location of antenna discharge unit, connection to grounding electrodes, and requirements of the grounding electrode.

Lightning Protection

For added protection of the LCD TV during a lightning storm or when it is left unattended or unused for long periods of time, unplug the LCD TV from the wall outlet and disconnect the antenna or cable system.

Power Lines

Do not locate the antenna near overhead light or power circuits, or where it could fall into such power lines or circuits.

Opening the Package

The SCEPTRE X270 is packaged in a carton. Any standard accessories are packed separately in another carton. The weight of the LCD display is approximately 15.43 lbs. Due to the size and weight of the product, it is suggested that it must be handled by a minimum of 2 or more persons. Since the glass can be easily scratched or broken, please handle the product gently. Never place the unit on a surface with the glass facing downwards unless it is on protective padding. When opening the carton, check that the product is in good condition and that all standard accessories and items are included. Save the original box and all packing materials for future shipping needs.

Installation

Please read the user manual carefully before performing the installation. The power consumption of the display is approximately 52 watts. Please use the power cord designated for the product. When an extension cord is required, use one with the correct power rating. The cord must be grounded and the grounding feature must not be defeated. The product should be installed on a flat surface to avoid tipping. Space should be maintained between the back of the product and the wall for proper ventilation. If you would like to mount the TV onto the wall, please see page 8, and 10 for additional information. Avoid installing the product in the kitchen, bathroom or other places with high humidity dust or smoke, so as not to shorten the service life of the electronic components. Please ensure the product is installed with the screen in landscape orientation. Any 90° clockwise or counterclockwise installation may induce poor ventilation and successive component damage.

Attaching or Removing the Stand

1. To attach the base, align the base and the TV. Push the TV down towards the base.

1. Similarly, to remove the stand for wall mounting, pull outwards to remove the cover plate and simply remove the 4 screws at the bottom section of the TV and pull out the stand. The 4 screws removed are for securing the TV stand only. If you are mounting the TV please consult a qualified installer for further instructions on bracket support and wall support.

Identifying Front and Rear Panel

Front View

1. VOL(+) – These buttons increase TV's volume.

2. VOL(-) – This button decreases the TV's volume.

3. MENU – This button activates the On Screen Display (OSD). If a sub-menu is active, pressing this button will exit the OSD.

4. CH(▲) – These buttons change the TV channel up.

5. CH(▼) – These buttons change the TV channel down.

6. SOURCE – This button switches between all the different sources of the TV. [There is no selection key for switching sources, simply highlight the source you want and after 3 seconds the TV will automatically switch to it.] When the OSD is active, this button acts as the enter button and confirms the menu selection.

7. POWER – Turn on the TV by pressing the button once. Press the button again to turn off the TV.

8. INDICATOR LIGHT – The light is orange when power is plugged in but the TV is not turned on. The light turns blue when the TV is turned on. Because of the size of the panel, the X270 LCD TV will take 10 – 12 seconds to power on.

9. REMOTE SENSOR – The remote sensor receives all the commands from the remote control.

Rear View Mounting Pattern

Mounting Specification : 200mm x 100mm using screw size M4 pitch 0.7mm. Length of screw should not exceed 10mm. Please Note : The 10mm length of screw refers to how deep the screw can go inside the mounting holes. When you're buying screws, you should add the original 10mm to the thickness of your mounting plate in order to get the total screw length. The 4 screws in the package are for securing the TV stand only. If you are mounting the TV please consult a qualified installer for further instructions on bracket support and wall support.

Rear View Connections

The following descriptions are for connections from left to right.

A. AC POWER IN – This connection provides the LCD TV with power.
B. USB – USB connects to USB flash drives for playing music and picture. The USB port is also used for updating the TV's firmware.
C. HDMI1 – HDMI connects to devices that use HDMI cable, such as Blu-ray or HD DVD player, or HD cable / satellite set-top box. This connection port receives pure digital audio and high definition signal through one single cable. This port also can accept a HDCP video device for video.

D. HDMI2 – Refer to HDMI1

E. VGA STEREO INPUT - This connection port is for people who want to provide audio to the TV when using a PC or a DVI video device. The sources use 3.5mm mini-jack audio cable.

F. VGA - This connection port connects to a PC for video using VGA cable. Be sure to connect your audio cable to the VGA Stereo input if you want sound out of VGA video source.

G. YPBPR (video) – This connection port is for DVD players or satellite / cable set-top boxes that use component cables. From left to right, connect green, blue, and red for video.

H. YPBPR (audio) – This connection port is for DVD players or satellite / cable set-top boxes that use component cables. From left to right connect white for left channel audio, and red for right channel audio.

I. AUDIO OUT – This connection port is used for sending out analog audio signals with red and white RCA type connectors.

J. AV/SVIDEO (audio) – This connection port is used for receiving audio signals for SVIDEO or AV port.

K. TV – This connection is for digital or analog cable without the cable box or over-the-airwave antennas. The tuner is a hybrid tuner that tunes to both analog and digital channels. This connection uses coaxial RF cable. For over-the airwave digital stations please check http://www.antennaweb.org.

L. AV – AV connects to devices that use composite video cables such as VCR or DVD player or Wii ^™ . Connect the yellow for video and the red / white for audio.

M. S-VIDEO – S-VIDEO connects to devices such as SVCR or camcorder or video game consoles. The S-VIDEO connection shares audio red & white connectors with AV. Please connect the video portion with the S-Video connector. Do NOT connect both video connectors.

N. SPDIF OUT - This connection port is used for sending out digital audio signals to digital surround sound receivers. The orange (COAX SPDIF OUT) connector sends out either bit-stream or PCM digital sound signal to a home theater receiver with digital coax input.

O. HDMI3 – Refer to HDMI1.

P. HEADPHONE – This connection is for headphones to be attached to the TV.

Please Note:

- This TV features a power saving function which will turn off the TV automatically after 5 minutes of idling on a connection with no signal. This feature is present on all connection.

- SPDIF digital audio out only outputs digital PCM signals. USB flash drive music will not output with SPDIF digital audio out. USB flash drive music will only output with analog audio out under label I.

Installing Batteries to the Remote Control

Please insert two AAA batteries into the remote control. Make sure that you match the (+) and (-) symbols on the batteries with the (+) and (-) symbols inside the battery compartment. Afterwards, re-attach the battery cover.

Connection Suggestions

If You Have Digital Cable without Cable Box or Antenna...

1. Make sure the power of X270 LCD HDTV is turned off.
2. Connect the Coaxial RF cable from your antenna or digital cable to the TV port on the back of your X270 LCD HDTV.
3. Turn on X270 LCD HDTV.
4. Follow the first time on screen instructions to program the channels into the TV using the AUTOSCAN function.

Connecting DVD Player with Component YPbPr...

1. Make sure the power of X270 LCD HDTV and your DVD player is turned off.
2. Obtain a Component Cable. Connect the green color connector to both your DVD player and YPbPr's green connector port on the back of your X270 LCD HDTV.
3. Connect the blue color connector to both your DVD player and YPbPr's blue connector port on the back of your X270 LCD HDTV.
4. Connect the red color connector to both your DVD player and YPbPr's red connector port on the back of your X270 LCD HDTV.
5. Obtain a RCA Audio Cable. Connect the white color connector to both your DVD player and YPbPr's white connector port on the back of your X270 LCD HDTV.
6. Connect the red color connector to both your DVD player and YPbPr's red connector port on the back of your X270 LCD HDTV.
7. Turn on the X270 LCD HDTV and your DVD player.
8. Use the remote control's source button or the source button on the TV to switch to YPbPr.

Please Note:

- Sometimes DVD players will not automatically output to YPbPr. You will need to configure your DVD player with AV connection first then switch to YPbPr. Please reference the DVD player's manual, to make sure the DVD player is configured to output correctly to the TV.

Connecting DVD Player with Composite...

1. Make sure the power of X270 LCD HDTV and your DVD player is turned off.
2. Obtain a Yellow Video Cable. Connect the Yellow Video connector to both your DVD player and AV's Yellow Video connector port on the back side of your X270 LCD HDTV.
3. Obtain a RCA Audio Cable. Connect the white color connector to both your DVD player and AV's white connector port on the back side of your X270 LCD HDTV.
4. Connect the red color connector to both your DVD player and AV's red connector port on the back side of your X270 LCD HDTV.
5. Turn on the X270 LCD HDTV and your DVD player.
6. Use the remote control's source button or the source button on the TV to switch to AV.

Connecting DVD Player with HDMI...

1. Make sure the power of X270 LCD HDTV and your DVD player is turned off.
2. Connect a HDMI cable to the HDMI output of your DVD player and the other end to the HDMI port on the back of your X270 LCD HDTV.
3. Turn on the X270 LCD HDTV and your DVD player.
4. Use the remote control's source button or the source button on the TV to switch to HDMI.

• Sceptre's X270 LCD HDTV supports SONY's universal remote code. Please look up SONY's codes in your universal remote's hand book.

Connecting to a PC with VGA and 3.5 mm minijack ...

1. Make sure the power of X270 LCD HDTV and your PC is turned off.
2. Obtain a 15-pin D-Sub VGA cable; connect to the VGA output of your PC and the other end to the VGA port on the back of your X270 LCD HDTV.
3. Obtain a 3.5 mm Mini-jack, connect to the audio out of your PC and the other end to the VGA Stereo Input port.
4. Turn on the power of the X270 LCD HDTV and your PC.
5. Use the remote control's source button or the source button on the TV to switch to PC.
6. Change your PC resolution to 1920x1080 at 60hz refresh rate.

Please Note:

• For the best results, please set your PC resolution to 1920x1080 at 60 Hz. Please refer to the PC or graphic card's manual for further instructions on how to set your resolution and refresh rate.
• Please refer to your PC manual for video output requirements of the video card.
• The VGA port of the TV features a power saving mode which will automatically turn off the TV, if there's no signal provided for more than 5 minutes.

Connecting an Audio Receiver with Analog Audio Out...

1. Make sure the power of X270 LCD HDTV and your receiver is turned off.
2. Obtain a set of red and white RCA cables and connect one end to your receiver's red and white audio output connection.
3. Connect the other end red and white AUDIO OUT port on the back of the X270 LCD HDTV.
4. Turn on the X270 LCD HDTV and your receiver.

- Please reference the receiver's manual as well, to make sure the receiver is configured to receive signals correctly from the TV.

Watching TV with Antenna or Cable

New digital HDTVs need to be programmed before watching the TV channels. The TV needs to go through various settings and to go through with scanning of the channels. The TV will be ready for viewing after you use auto scan to scan the channels. The TV is set to ask users to go through setup wizard when the TV is first turned on.

1. Use the ▲▼◀ or ▶ to navigate through the settings. The on screen display will give you instructions.
2. You will need to setup through various things such as language, date, time, the type of signal that goes to your TV tuner. Keep in mind if you have a cable box or a satellite box or fiber optic set-top box, you do not need to scan for channels. In the final phase you will need to scan for channels. Once the scanning is done, you can watch TV.

OSD (On Screen Display) Options

PICTURE – This main option has functions for changing the picture settings for all ports, such as tint, contrast, sharpness.

AUDIO – This main option has functions for changing sound settings for all ports, such as treble, bass, and surround sound....etc.

TIME – This main option has functions for sleep timer and the TV's internal clock.

OPTION – This main option has functions for closed captioning and menu language.

LOCK – This main option has functions for only composite and TV port. The purpose of this option is to block TV inappropriate for children.

CHANNEL – This main option has functions for the tuner port, such as auto scan, tuner mode, and favorites....etc.

- Sometimes certain icons or options will be grayed out. That means the option or icon is not available under the current source or preset mode you are using. Make sure you are under custom for sound or picture modes or you are under the right source to use the grayed out options.

PICTURE

This option allows users to adjust the TV's picture sharpness, color, tint, and other various functions.

This option allows users to adjust the TV's sound functions.

- The audio languages, and MTS function is dependent on the TV channel's support. Most channels do not support second audio programming.

TIME

This option allows user to adjust the TV's time functions.

1. Sleep Timer: Turns the TV off in 5min, 10min, 15min, 30min, 45min, 60min, 90min, 120min, 180min, and 240min.
2. Time Zone: To select the correct Time Zone for your area.
3. DST: To turn on/off summer Daylight Saving Time.
4. Time Format: To select time format from 12-hour or 24-hour.
5. Auto Sync: To enable automatic synchronization of time.
6. Clock: To adjust the current time. Press ▶ to enter. Use ◀▶ to move between Year, Month, Date, Hour, Minute, and use ▲▼ to adjust. Select OK and press ENTER to save the setting.

Please Note:

- AUTO SYNC function is only available to people who use digital antenna for over the air broadcasts.

OPTION

This option allows user to adjust the closed captioning amongst other functions.

4. Closed Caption: To set close caption options.(Only available in TV, AV, S-Video source.)
5. Restore Default: To restore the factory default settings.

• Advanced Selection: To select closed caption signal formats and set up caption modes for digital TV channels. (Service1\~6, or Off)
• Option: Press ◀▶ to select Mode from Default or Custom. When "Custom" is selected, use ▲▼ to select the desired controls, ◀▶ to adjust detailed settings.

1. Input Label: To change the input source name.
2. DCR: To turn on/off the DCR (Dynamic Contrast Ratio) function.
3. Media: To set the picture slide show setting.(Only available in USB source)
4. Overscan: Cuts a border out of the TV's video. Turn this feature off when you use it with a PC.
5. HDMI PC: This feature is to enhance the clarity of a PC's image by turning off video filtering. Only use this with a PC signal.

Please Note:

- Overscan should only be turned off when you are using HDMI with a PC, PS3, or Blu-ray DVD player. Other devices will have artifacts around the edges which is normal for video operation.

LOCK

This option allows users to filter programming for children.

1. Enter Password: Enter password and the screen below will show. (The default password is 0000.)

1. Change Password: To change the password, press ▶, and the screen on the right appears. Follow the instructions to change password.
2. System Lock: Select "On" to enable the following options. Note: The below options can be enabled only when "On" is selected here.
3. Unrated Lock: Select "On" to block unrated movies or TV programs.
4. US: Press ▶ to set TV or MPAA ratings.

• TV: To adjust TV blocking level in the US.

The following screen will allow you to customize the following TV ratings:

- MPAA: To adjust movie blocking level in the US. You can select between G, PG, PG-13, R, NC-17, X, or N/A.

The movie Ratings in the US are defined as following:

G (general audience) NC-17 (no one under 17 years of age)
PG (parental guidance suggested) X (adult audience only)
PG-13 (recommended for children 14 years of age or older)	N/A (Not applicable)
R (mature audience)

1. Canada: Press ▶ to set Canadian English and French ratings.

- Canada Eng: To adjust blocking level in English-speaking region of Canada. You can select between C, C8+, G, PG, 14+, 18+, EXEMPT.

The Canadian English Ratings are defined as following:

C (children) 14+ (viewers and older)
C8+ (children eight years and older) 18+ (adult programming)
G (general programming, suitable for all audiences)	EXEMPT
PG (parental guidance)

- Canada Fre: To adjust blocking level in French-speaking region of Canada. You can select between G, 8 ans +, 13 ans +, 16 ans +, 18 ans +, EXEMPT.

The Canadian French Ratings are defined as following:

G (genenral) 16 ans+ (not appropriate	for children of less than 16 years)
8 ans+ (children eight years and older)	18 ans+ (reserved to adults)
13 ans+ (not appropriate for children of less than 13 years)	EXEMPT

• RRT Setting: To set Rating Region Table that defines the rating standard for a particular geographic region and/or country. Press ▶ to enter the setting.
• Reset RRT: Press ▶ to reset RRT Setting.

CHANNEL

This option allows user to adjust the TV's tuner functions.

1. TV Source: To select Cable or Air as the TV source.
2. Auto Scan: To auto scan the TV or DTV channels. Select Air or Cable in TV/CATV option, and press ▶ to start auto scanning TV channels. Press MENU again at any time to interrupt scanning.
3. Favorite: To set your favorite channels into memory. Press ENTER to confirm / cancel your favorite channels. Press ◀ / ▶ to go to previous / next page.
4. Show/Hide: Press ENTER to skip the selected channel. To restore the channel, press ENTER again.
5. Channel No.: Press ◀▶ to select a channel. The channel selected will be shown on the screen at the same time.
6. Channel Label: Press ▶ to edit a name for the current channel (the channel selected in Channel No.). Use ▲▼ to choose letters or signs, ◀▶ to move forward or backward, and then press MENU or ENTER to exit.
7. DTV Signal: To display the detected signal strength of the current DTV channel.

USB Connection Explained

This TV has a USB connection that allows users to play music and also photos saved in a USB flash drive. The following are some usage tips on how to use this function.

1. When input source is selected to USB, insert the USB device into the USB jack. USB only supports JPEG, BMP, MP3 and PNG image files (With ❤️ symbol).

2. Use ▲ or ▼ to select the folder you want, and press ENTER.

3. Return to main menu, press ▲ or ▼ to "--" and press ENTER.
4. Use ▲ or ▼ to select the image or music files you want, and press ENTER.

5. In the USB mode, you can use the INFO buttons to call up options to manipulate the picture or starting a slideshow.

6. Press EXIT go back to the previous page.
   • Use ▶ or ◀ to display the next or previous picture.

7. Use ▲ or ▼ to rotate right or rotate left the picture.(Only available in X1.0 mode)
   • Press Aspect to zoom in. (X1.5\~X4.0)
8. When the Zoom mode, press ▲▼◀▶ to move.
   • Press ENTER to auto-play or stop the pictures.

Rating Explained

General Operation

To block channels you don't want your children to watch, you can filter them with the ratings function. MPAA lets you control ratings for movies. For regular TV programs you can use USTV settings. USTV settings lets you filter what content you want at each age level, TV-Y, to TV-MA (refer to definitions below). Below are definitions for each setting.

USTV Rating

TV-Y (USTV) – For All Children

This program is designed to be appropriate for all children. Whether animated or live-action, the themes and elements in this program are specifically designed for a very young audience, including children from ages 2-6. This program is not expected to frighten younger children.

TV-Y7 (USTV) – Directed to Older Children

This program is designed for children age 7 and above. It may be more appropriate for children who have acquired the developmental skills needed to distinguish between make-believe and reality. Themes and elements in this program may include mild fantasy violence or comedic violence, or may frighten children under the age of 7. Therefore, parents may want to consider the suitability of this program for their very young children. Note: For those programs where fantasy violence may be more intense or more combative than other programs in this category, such programs will be designated TV-Y7-FV.

TV-G (USTV) – General Audience

Most parents would find this program suitable for all ages. Although this rating does not signify a program designed specifically for children, most parents may let younger children watch this program unattended. It contains little or no violence, no strong language and little or no sexual dialogue or situations.

TV-PG (USTV) – Parental Guidance Suggested

This program contains material that parents may find unsuitable for younger children. Many parents may want to watch it with their younger children. The theme itself may call for parental guidance

and/or the program contains one or more of the following: moderate violence (V), some sexual situations (S), infrequent coarse language (L), or some suggestive dialogue (D).

TV-14 (USTV) – Parents Strongly Cautioned

This program contains some material that many parents would find unsuitable for children less than 14 years of age. Parents are strongly urged to exercise greater care in monitoring this program and are cautioned against letting children under the age of 14 watches unattended. This program contains one or more of the following: intense violence (V), intense sexual situations (S), strong coarse language (L), or intensely suggestive dialogue (D).

TV-MA (USTV) – Mature Audience Only

This program is specifically designed to be viewed by adults and therefore may be unsuitable for children under 17. This program contains one or more of the following: graphic violence (V), explicit sexual activity (S), or crude indecent language (L).

Browsing Channels Explained

To operate your LCD TV, you may use the TV remote control or side panel buttons to select input source, change channels, or adjust volume.

Checking Your Connection

1. Connect external equipment properly.
2. Insert the power plug and the power LED indicator will light orange.

Turning On Your TV

Press the POWER button at the side of the LCD TV, or press the POWER button on your remote control to turn on/off the TV. The power LED indicator lights blue when the LCD TV is on.

Selecting Your Source

Press the *SOURCE* button on the remote control, Use *▲▼ *to select the required input source between TV, AV, S-Video, YPbPr, HDMI1, HDMI2, HDMI3, PC and USB. To confirm the selection, press *ENTER*. [As an alternative if you do not press ENTER the TV will still automatically switch to the highlighted source after 3 seconds.]

Electronic Program Guide (EPG)

Press the GUIDE button on the remote control and the program information for the channel you are watching will be displayed on the screen.

Channel Select

Press number key or ▼CH▲ button to select your desired channel.

1. ATV

The “-” button has no function in ATV mode. Directly press the number buttons to select channels.

2. DTV

Use“-”button to select the sub channel in DTV.

Ex: Your desired number is 80-3.

Press 8 → press 0 → press“-”→ press 3.

- Whether in ATV or DTV, after you input the channel numbers, press ENTER button to direct to the channel immediately, or wait for 3 seconds to change automatically.

• Return to the previous channel, press R button.

Favorite Channels

Press FAVORITE button to show Favorite List and select your favorite channels that have already been stored. (You need to preset the favorite channels from the OSD menu to enable this function.)

Sleep Time Setting

Repeatedly press SLEEP button to set the off timer. The function is used to automatically shut off the LCD TV after a preset period of time passed. There are several times for choice – Off, 5min, 10min, 15min, 30min, 45min, 60min, 90min, 120min, 180min, and 240min.

Aspect Ratio

Press ASPECT button repeatedly to select the screen size. You can select from Normal, Movie Scale, Zoom In, and 4:3.

Note: The digital TV HD signal is available in 4:3 and Normal.

MTS Selecting

Press MTS button to choose the available sound output that is preset by TV broadcasting station.

C.C Mode

Press C.C button to select the caption mode.

Using the OSD function

You can use the OSD menus and options to adjust various settings by using the remote control.

The basic operation is as following:

• Press MENU to display OSD menu.
• Press ◀▶ to select your desired top Menu, and press ENTER or ▼ to enter the menu you select.
  • Use ▲▼ to select the control you want to adjust.
• When selecting the control with ▶, press ▶ to enter next level menu or enable the function.
• Press ◀▶ to adjust or select the settings.
• Press MENU or EXIT to exit from the OSD menu.

Preset Modes Explained

The TV features different preset modes of settings for audio and video. For people who like to optimize the TV for whichever program it is playing but do not want to individually tweak every setting, the preset modes are used.

For Video

To switch between the various modes, press the PICTURE button continuously.

1. CUSTOM – This mode saves the user's tweaked settings. If you changed settings under the OSD VIDEO main option, the settings would be saved under CUSTOM mode.
2. MILD – This mode is mainly used for movies.
3. STANDARD – This mode is mainly used for regular television viewing and video gaming.
4. VIVID – This mode is mainly used for nature channels and sporting events.

- Each preset modes can be used to your preference. The preset mode descriptions are merely usage suggestions.

For Audio

To switch between the various modes, press the SOUND button continuously.

1. CUSTOM - This mode saves the user's tweaked settings. If you changed settings under the OSD AUDIO main option, the settings would be saved under CUSTOM mode.
2. STANDARD – This mode is mainly used for regular television viewing.
3. SPEECH – This mode is mainly used for news and commentary programs.
4. MOVIE – This mode is mainly used for movies, sporting events, and video gaming.
5. MUSIC – This mode is mainly used for music videos.

- Each preset modes can be used to your preference. The preset mode descriptions are merely usage suggestions.

How do I clean the TV?

IMPORTANT

1. The power cable has to be removed from the socket before cleaning the TV.
2. Do not use volatile solvent (alcohol, rosin, and toluene) to clean the TV. These types of chemicals might damage the housing and the LCD glass.

Cleaning the bezel and remote control

1. Use a 100% cotton cloth or micro-fiber cloth for cleaning.
2. If the remote control or bezel is dirty to the point where you cannot simply dry wipe it, please lightly dampen the wiping material with clean water and wipe again. Wipe the display with a dry micro-fiber cloth or 100% cotton cloth afterwards.

Please Note :

- Make sure you wring the water out of the cloth before cleaning the bezel or remote in order to prevent water from penetrating into the electronics.

Cleaning the Screen

1. Use a 100% cotton cloth or micro-fiber cloth for cleaning.
2. The LCD screen glass is extremely fragile. Do not scrape it with any material. Do not press or tap the screen to avoid cracking. When the screen is dirty to the point where you cannot simply dry wipe it, please lightly dampen the wiping material with clean water and wipe again. Wipe the display with a dry micro-fiber cloth or 100% cotton cloth afterwards.

REMOTE CONTROL DOES NOT WORK	Turn off the TV, unplug it from the socket. Remove the batteries out of the remote for 30 minutes. Press the remote buttons and the power button randomly for a good 2 seconds, and then reinstall the batteries. Try the remote to see if it works.
	The TV's remote sensor is also housed in the same place as the power indicator light. Please make sure there is line of sight from the remote control's front sensor to the remote sensor of the TV.
CANNOT RECEIVE SUFFICIENT CHANNELS THROUGH THE ATSC/NTSC TUNER	The TV's tuner signal must not be lower than 65%. Change the direction of your antenna and rescan your channels. If you have cable call up your cable company and ask about signal strength of your local cable.
NO COLOR	Please adjust your picture setup and make sure the saturation and the RGB are not turned all the way down.

TV'S UNIVERSAL REMOTE CODE	This television follows SONY's universal remote code. To find the actual code you must read through your own universal remote's guide book.
TV CHANNELS ARE BLOCKED	Check your auto lock function's settings inside the OSD. You may have locked up some channels but forgot about them.
UNIVERSAL REMOTE CODE	This TV follows SONY's universal remote code. Please check your hand book for SONY's codes then apply them.
THE TV TURNS ON OR OFF SLOWLY AND THE SCREEN SHOWS UP SLOWLY	This TV is a High Definition liquid crystal display panel TV. It requires a few more seconds than normal TVs to power up and show the picture.
NO SOUND ON PC	Make sure you have a 3.5 mm mini-jack cable connected from your pc's sound output to the TV's VGA STEREO INPUT.
HDCP VIDEO SAYS NO HDCP SUPPORT	Reboot your HDCP video device but turning them off and unplugging the power cord. Wait up to 8 minutes to plug the power back in to see if it works or not.
HDCP VIDEO HAS NO AUDIO	Make sure you have a 3.5 mm mini-jack cable connected from your HDCP video device's sound output to the TV's VGA STEREO INPUT. If your HDCP video device uses RCA AUDIO jacks, you'll need to obtain a RCA audio converted into 3.5 mm mini-jack cable.
CANNOT GET 1920X1080 ON PC VGA	Make sure the TV is recognized as plug and play monitor. Try updating your video card's drivers as well. If that does not help, most likely you'll need to upgrade your video card to a newer one.
PICTURE IS DISTORTED OR HAS ABNORMAL SOUND	This might be from interference from large electrical appliances, cars, motorcycles, or fluorescent lights. If the TV is close to the wall, try moving the TV to another room in your house to see if the problem still occurs.
PICTURE DOES NOT COVER THE ENTIRE SCREEN	If you're using HDMI or a TV digital channel make sure you use the ASPECT button to switch to 16:9 format. If you are using VGA, use the AUTO ADJUST function to adjust to the screen. Please Note : If you are using regular analog TV, AV, or component in 480i resolution, use the ASPECT button to switch to 16:9 in order to fill up the screen. Please Note : This note this feature will distort the picture.
PICTURE QUALITY IS HORRIBLE!!	For best image quality, view HD widescreen programs where possible. If HD content is not available view "Standard Definition" from a digital source. Standard, analog TV will always be noticeable inferior to HD because your X270 LCD HDTV has video that is many times better than old TV's and so you can see interference and deficiencies you did not KNOW you had.
PICTURE HAS PIXELS THAT ARE ALWAYS DISPLAYING THE SAME COLOR	Your X270 LCD HDTV is manufactured using an extremely high level of precision technology, however, sometimes some pixels of your X270 LCD HDTV may not display. Pixels defects within industry specifications are inherent to this type of product and do not constitute a defective product.
I CANNOT CHANGE THE TIME MANUALLY	Your X270 LCD HDTV syncs time automatically according to your local TV channel. This function only works while the TV's tuner is connected to an ANTENNA.
BIG BLACK BOX IN THE MIDDLE OF SCREEN	You have turned on closed captioning and are using TEXT1 - TEXT4. Change the setting to CC1 or turn off closed captioning and the box will disappear.
SWITCHING A CHANNEL OR SOURCE CHANGES THE VOLUME	Different channels and inputs will sometimes have this effect because the channel signal's own volume is already loud. There is no way remove this completely. The TV has an AUTO VOLUME LEVEL function that can combat this type of effect. Please make sure that function is turned on.
THERE IS NOISE OR TRASH PIXELS ON THE SCREEN	When your LCD HDTV's resolution is higher than the digital channel's broadcast resolution, the signal is up-converted to match your TV's resolution. Up-converting can cause this type of effect.
TIPS FOR HIGH DEFINITION USERS	The X270 LCD HDTV is an ideal platform for viewing High Definition Content. The best image quality can be achieved by HDMI, YPbPr (Component), then VGA. However, due to variances in broadcast practices, it is possible some image distortions can occur.
TIPS FOR LETTERBOX CONTENT USERS	Letterboxed (Widescreen) versions of DVD movies are most commonly formatted for standard 4:3 TVs. The X270 LCD HDTV has the capability of expanding this content so the entire screen is filled at the expense of the image proportion. To use this function press the aspect button on the remote control and cycle among the available options.
I CANNOT FIND THE VOLUME AND CHANNEL CHANGING BUTTONS	The buttons are represented by the ▲▼◄► buttons located on the remote control. ▲▼ changes the channels and ◀► changes the volume.
I CANNOT FIND ENTER BUTTON	The enter button has the symbol ↓. It is located in the center of the ▲▼◄► buttons.
TV TURNS OFF AUTOMATICALLY AFTER 5 MINUTES	The TV features a power saving mode which will automatically turn off the TV, if there's no signal provided for more than 5 minutes.

SCEPTRE's Responsibility

SCEPTRE Displays purchased in the United States are warranted to be free from defects in materials or workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the date of their original retail purchase. If the unit fails to conform to this warranty, we will service the monitor using new or refurbished parts.

Service Labor

During a period of one (1) year from the effective warranty date, SCEPTRE will provide, when needed, service labor to repair a manufacturing defect at its designated Service Center. To obtain warranty service in the Untied States, you must first call our Customer Support at [phone]. The determination of service will be made by SCEPTRE Customer Support. PLEASE DO NOT

RETURN YOUR UNIT TO SCEPTRE WITHOUT PRIOR AUTHORIZATION.

Parts

New or remanufactured replacements for defective parts will be used for repairs by SCEPTRE at its designated Service Center for one (1) year from the effective warranty date. Such replacement parts are warranted for the remaining portion of the original warranty period.

Service

During the one (1) year warranty period, SCEPTRE will, at its option and sole discretion, repair or replace defective parts, including replacement of the entire Panel. The Customer will be required to ship the unit to the Service Center indicated at the time Customer Support is contacted to make the necessary repairs, you are responsible for all transportation charges to the service facility. SCEPTRE is not responsible for the de-installation or re-installation of the unit.

Packaging and Shipping Instruction

When you send the product to an authorized SCEPTRE service facility you must use the original carton box and packing material or an equivalent as designated by SCEPTRE.

Not Covered

This warranty does not cover defects, malfunctions or failures resulting from shipping or transit accidents, abuse, misuse, operation contrary to furnished instructions, operation on incorrect power supplies, operation with faulty associated equipment, modification, alteration, improper servicing, tampering or normal wear and tear or TVs on which the serial number has been removed or defaced. Image Sticking caused by operating at excessive brightness levels for extended periods or mishandling are not covered by this warranty.

ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE SHALL BE LIMITED IN DURATION TO THE PERIOD OF TIME SET FORTH ABOVE. SCEPTRE retains the right to assess all warranty claims and to determine if damages are covered by the warranty. In case of a claim that is not covered by the warranty, you will be contacted to determine whether SCEPTRE should repair the damage for a fee or whether the product should be returned to you as received by the repair center.

Dead Pixel Policy

There are millions of pixels on a LCD screen. Therefore, there is industry standard specification regarding dead or bad pixels. SCEPTRE sets limit on the LCD at 3 dead pixels in a cluster adjacent to each other, or 5 dead pixels in a combination of color and brightness of dead pixels. Any number of dead or bad pixels under the limit is considered normal specification.
