Frequently Asked Questions - CS-HDM4X1ASW4 Metra

How do I connect multiple HDMI sources to a single display?
Connect up to four HDMI sources (e.g., Blu-ray player, game console) to the inputs, then connect the HDMI output to your display. The switch can be set to manual mode via the remote or auto-switching to show the most recently activated source.
What is the maximum resolution supported?
The switch supports resolutions up to 4K@60Hz (3840x2160) and is backward compatible with 1080p and lower resolutions.
Does the switch support HDR?
The switch supports deep color up to 36-bit, which is compatible with HDR content. However, ensure your sources and display also support HDR.
How do I use the Audio Return Channel (ARC) feature?
Connect an HDMI cable from the switch's output to an ARC-compatible TV. Press the ARC button on the remote to enable ARC. Audio from the TV will then be sent back to the switch and output via Toslink or Coaxial to your audio system.
Can I extract audio from HDMI?
Yes, the switch extracts audio from the HDMI signal and outputs it via Toslink (optical), Coaxial, or Stereo (3.5mm) simultaneously.
What audio formats are supported?
It supports uncompressed LPCM 7.1 and compressed formats like DTS-HD Master Audio, Dolby TrueHD, and standard Dolby Digital.
How do I switch between inputs?
Use the buttons on the front panel or the remote control. Press buttons 1-4 to select the corresponding input. Alternatively, enable auto-switching so the switch automatically selects the last active source.
Is the switch HDCP 2.2 compliant?
Yes, the switch supports HDCP 2.2, ensuring compatibility with 4K streaming devices and Blu-ray players.
Does the switch require an external power supply?
Yes, it comes with a 5V DC power adapter that must be plugged into a wall outlet for operation.

HDMI™ 4x1 Switcher Support 4K@60Hz with Extract Audio and Audio Return Channel

Dear customer

Thank you for purchasing this product. For optimum performance and safety, please read these instructions carefully before connecting, operating or adjusting this product. Please keep this manual for future reference.

1.0 Introduction

The 4 port HDMI™ 4K switch lets you share a display with four HDMI™-enabled A/V devices. The switch features four independent inputs that each support 4K resolution and 7.1 surround sound audio. You'll be amazed at how this video switch maintains Ultra HD picture quality. 4K is supported by the latest A/V devices and delivers four times the resolution of 1080p. Plus, because the switch is backward compatible with high-definition 1080p, you can assure any video source will look great in your digital signage application.

Also, the audio embedded in HDMI can be extracted via Toslink or Coaxial and the switch can return the audio to AV receivers with audio return channel (ARC) function.
