Frequently Asked Questions - NP-E3 Watson

How do I charge the Watson NP-E3 battery?
Charge the battery pack before first use. Refer to your camcorder or digital camera manual for specific charging instructions. Use only the charger recommended by your device manufacturer to avoid damage.
What is the operating temperature range of this battery?
The Watson NP-E3 battery should be used between 15°F (-10°C) and 105°F (40°C). Using it outside this range may activate a safety circuit or cause damage.
How should I store the battery when not in use?
Store the battery in a cool, dry place. If storing for an extended period, fully charge it, then discharge it on your equipment, and remove it from the device before storage.
What does the internal self-resetting fuse do?
The battery is protected by an internal self-resetting fuse that helps prevent damage from short circuits. However, short circuits can still cause severe damage, so avoid shorting the terminals.
Can I use the battery in extreme temperatures?
No, do not use the battery below 15°F (-10°C) or above 105°F (40°C). High temperatures can trigger a safety circuit that disables the battery.
How can I maximize battery performance?
To maximize performance: fully charge before use, fully discharge before recharging, clean terminals with a dry cloth, and avoid extreme temperatures. Also, remove the battery from the device when not in use.
What should I do if the battery gets hot during charging?
It is normal for the battery to become warm during charging or use. However, if it becomes excessively hot, stop charging immediately and allow it to cool. Check for proper ventilation and ensure you're using the correct charger.
How long does the battery last per charge?
Run time depends on power demand. Manufacturer stated times are based on non-stop recording in lab tests. Actual usage (zoom, autofocus, playback) will reduce run time. Replace the battery when operation time noticeably shortens.
Is there a warranty on the Watson NP-E3 battery?
Yes, Watson provides a limited one-year warranty for the original purchaser against defects in materials and workmanship. Contact your place of purchase for a return authorization and include proof of purchase.
How should I dispose of the battery?
Do not incinerate the battery as it may explode. Recycle the battery according to local regulations. Many electronics retailers offer battery recycling programs.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS:

- Charge the battery pack before use. Read your camcorder or digital camera manual for charging instructions.

- When not in use, remove the battery pack from its device and store in a cool, dry place.

- Do not short circuit the terminals. This battery is protected with an internal self-resetting fuse, but sort circuits may still cause severe damage to the battery.

Be careful where you set the battery down.

• Under no circumstance attempt to open the battery case.
- Do not expose the battery to rain or moisture.

- Keep away from fire. Do not incinerate. Battery may explode in the presence of fire.

- Do not drop battery or expose it to strong shocks.

- Do not use at temperatures below 15°F (-10°C) or above 105°F (40°C). Use of the battery at very high temperatures will activate a safety circuit, disallowing use.

- Running time depends on the power demanded. Stated manufacturer run times are developed in simple laboratory tests of non-stop recording. Real-life use of zoom, automatic focus, tape review, etc., all demand extra power and shorten run time.

TO MAXIMIZE BATTERY PERFORMANCE

• Make sure the battery is fully charged before use.

• Fully discharge before recharging.

- Clean the battery and terminals with a clean, soft, dry cloth.

• The battery may be warm during use on recharging. This is normal.

• Total natural discharge may occur during long storage periods. If the battery pack is not to be used for a long time, perform the following maintenance to extend its life. Fully charge the battery. Discharge the battery on your electronic equipment, then remove and store in a cool, dry place.

- Remove the battery from your equipment when not in use. Some electronic equipment will draw current even when the switch is off.

- When operation time has noticeably shortened, the battery may need to be replaced.
